We ordered food for catering. They promised us food at 5:30 PM and they were not ready with the food till 6 PM. The staff was so unprofessional (they were literally swearing saying they're overwhelmed with orders) and they said they reopen at 5PM so they were late which made us wonder why they would agree to 5:30 PM. They offer a lunch buffet and I asked if they had Naan which was brought to our table after we filled our plates. The interior is a cozy table setup and was fairly full while we were there. The buffet choices had many standard offerings like Tandoori Chicken and they had my favorite, Goat Curry. The bone in goat was very meaty and the gravy was not very spicy. My friend and I were experiencing a particularly strong craving for Indian food and came across Himalayan Kitchen! We went on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm and were seated promptly for their Indian buffet. It cost $25 per person, and you get a slight discount if you pay with cash. I was pretty impressed with the selection of dishes they had. Some of the dishes that I immediately remember are butter chicken, tandoori chicken, paneer tikka masala, goat curry, chicken, curry, spinach daal, biryani, tindora fry, chaat, and more. They also bring you as much naan as you want to the table. For drinks, they had mango lassi, chai, and sodas. Finally, they also had a decent selection of desserts. I think the selection slightly varies on the day. I thought the food was all super solid. It definitely hit the spot but didn't blow me away necessarily. I enjoyed eating everything and enjoyed the amount of variety they had. I was nowhere close to eating my money's worth, but I was still quite content at being able to try so many different things. Overall, I recommend this place! I will probably be back for their buffet whenever my next craving hits (which will probably be pretty soon). They got one of the best food in town, not sure how well they maintain the consistency of their main dishes. Can't really miss the chicken dum biryani, labbipet mutton biryani. The food is top notch. I have eaten here for 4 yrs. Tonight I went to thier outside service. An all you can eat delicacy for 9 dollars. It is a treat I enjoy often. I ordered idly sambar - I knew it was a wrong decision given such as broad, hotch potch menu, but I was in a mood for something light like idlis - oh so disappointed. The Idly was dry and hard - definitely stale. The sambar was delicious though. I told the owner that the idly felt dry and old - as expected, he defended it, but also didn't charge me for it. I think the restaurant name is misleading as I initially thought it would be more Nepalese style but they have a diverse menu from all over India. They make amazing naan and butter chicken. This is literally my favorite biryani place. The location is pretty unassuming, but don't be fooled as their food is amazing at a great price. Their biryani is very flavorful and the portion is generous. I'm in love with the spice level as I think it's perfect. Service was a bit slow, but they were busy so that's understandable. Himalayan Kitchen had fantastic Indian cuisine for incredibly reasonable prices. I came here on a weeknight and while the place was bustling, we experienced no wait and were seated immediately. Staff were attentive and made sure to take and serve our orders in a timely fashion. We got butter chicken, garlic naan, and lamb tikka masala, and everything tasted delicious. All the dishes were perfectly spiced and came in deceptively small bowls (portions were quite large and we had leftovers for our next meal). The restaurant itself was nice as well, bright and airy even though we were there in the evening. The overall price for all of our dishes came out to less than $20 per person (including tax and tip), which was a fantastic price for South Bay. The dosa was overwhelmingly salty and tasted over-fermented, the chutney seemed stale, and the sambar was nothing more than flavored water. We also ordered a chocolate dosa for our kids, but with the same salty base, the combination was awful -- they couldn't eat it. Expansive menu, I didn't know what to try so ordered the Himalayan lamb special and asked for mild since another review said regular spicy was really spicy. Well it turned out wasn't spicy at all...and I'm not expert in Himalayan or Nepalese cuisine but I found it a bit watery. The lamb could've been more tender as well. Chicken tikka marsala was great for naan dipping or with some carbs. Entrees don't come with rice. Ordered a side of that for $2 and another garlic naan. Dishes felt on the smaller side but just enough I guess. Posters for weekend buffet has started earlier this month. It looks like someone skimmed the top of the cauldron when scooping into the containter and forgot the goods on the bottom. Nevertheless, it's downright hearty and goes down better than it looks. Himalayan Special Tandoori The chicken (1 full leg) is excellent, tender on the inside, succulent, with or without the minty chutney. 4 pieces tikka kebab on the dry side. Seeth kebab - this is sort of like a crumbly sausage, strong on the chives and parsley flavors, just not a fan here. Tandoori Shrimp - good, a tad overdone, carries the smoky tandoori flavor well. Himalayan Special Combo - warning: all carbs here! "Idly" - steamed cooked rice cakes bowl-shaped and small. Not a lot of action here as I believe you eat this with the more powerful flavored menu items. "Vada" - deep fried lentil donuts, comes ith green chutney... really interesting "Dosa/Upma".. I chose Dosa - this is a thin crispy crepe, with delicious toasty notes, sort of like the nepalese version of Indian naan. Would have been great to describe what these items are instead of leaving it to the consumer to order blindly or to sleuth around for definitions. Even a picture or two would help tremendously. The peanut chutney was really good however the Sambhar lacked any flavor and the Tomato chutney was too tangy and watery. The Gobi Manchurian was undercooked in a soggy gravy.
