We've been here a handful of times since my initial review and the food has been consistently good. Each time we have come though, we have wanted to order certain menu items or drinks and were told they don't have them. I don't understand why you would have an extensive menu but then keep telling guests that they cannot order items that are listed. Additionally, we received an electronic coupon from Madras Groceries for $10 off from 9/12-9/14 so we went today and carried out food. However, when we presented the coupon, we were told it is no longer valid but if we wanted it, we should go to Madras Groceries and get it. This makes no sense and makes me think that they just didn't want to honor it and it left a bad impression. The coupon clearly states that it should be valid (see picture). TL;DR -- good food, service needs improvement.

The flavors were on point. The daal makhni was not filled with cream like other places do and malai kofta wasn't as sweet, just the right amount. The quantity was less I feel, for $15 fish appetizer there were only 6 pieces. The breads were actually made in tandoor and were crispy and fresh. The service was good and place inside is not bad too. I would be coming back to try other dishes. They don't have a long menu which is nice as it doesn't get too overwhelming. It is on the the pricier end but worth it.

    Vegetable Dopiaza

Went for the first time this past weekend and very impressed. I think they've changed their menu as the offering is now all vegetarian. The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly spiced, I highly recommend it, we'll be back! We got the peas pulao rice dish, the dal makhani, Paneer Tikka Lababdar, Vegetable Dopiaza with side of Raita and fresh roti.

Clean and nice place with good food. We loved the taste of all the things we tried. Service was nice too.

Great food. Clean ambiance. Friendly staff. Snowdon was very helpful and recommended great dishes. The aloo paratha was awesome with generous tasty filling. Paneer labadar was nice and creamy. Mango kulfi hit the spot without being too sweet

Great ambiance and setting and still the same great food as it was under the Social Chicken name. It is owned by the same owner with expanded menu. The service was fast, loved the addition of the absolutely tasty Potato Chaat to the menu and highly recommend it as an appetizer. The butter chicken was also amazing and tender. Will definitely come back soon.

We were in the area running errands & stopped by for lunch. Ordered samosas, butter chicken, saffron rice, garlic nan & a side dish. Service was excellent. Plenty of parking. The food was delish & generous portions. Nice sealed to go containers as we had plenty of leftovers. Nicely air conditioned. Was not very crowded, but we were there on the early side of lunch around 11am. I also had a mango lassi which was great.

This place used to be Butter Chicken Social but now with an expanded menu and sit down! We came to try and got: - palak paneer - super creamy - I'd call it the Indian version of creamed spinach - paneer butter masala - I was expecting something like butter chicken sauce but found it more tomato-y like more tikka masala like - yellow daal - this was only $6???? So good and the best deal with the portion! Extra fiber since it's lentils and less heavy since it's not creamy - rice - plain naan - butter naan The curries and lentils were delicious! Not too spicy, creamy, smooth, and flavorful. The paneer was soft and delicious! Thankfully they didn't skimp on them either! Definitely stood out in my opinion even with the bigger cubes. I was actually not super impressed with the naan because i usually like the fluffier naan and this was crispier. The bottom was a little burnish than I'd liked too. It made it harder to dip or wrap around the paneer cubes. We were the only ones in the place for a while but our food took quite some time to come out. The place was pretty, so I hope they figure out service and that all goes well as they go into grand opening!

As a non-Indian Asian, I enjoyed PepperMint. It's a casual dining place that is located where the old McDonald's was. The food is flavorful, and the server was attentive. I don't know why it doesn't have more customers when we were there for Saturday lunch. I totally recommend the samosa chaat, the tandoori chicken platter sizzler (weekend only), and the butter chicken, very nice. The curry for butter chicken is smooth and delicious. The only downside of the butter chicken is that there is not enough chicken to go with the curry. It's that good. The garlic naan was delicious. And we also enjoyed the Kerala fried chicken in the non-vegetarian platter sizzler. It's on the pricey side. But give it a try when you are in Sunnyvale.

This is the vegan version of the benne dosa that is usually made with ghee. The dosa is different than standard dosas as it is very crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle. It is quite oily but that is to be expected from a dish that is normally made with generous drizzles of ghee. - ratna cafe sambar idli (8/10): two pieces of idli soaked in a pearl onion sambar. The pearl onions make this sambar unique by adding a slight sweetness and tang. The idli soaks up the sambar so i would recommend eating it fresh so that it does not get soggy. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The food is reasonably priced and has tastes like home cooked food.

But we were undeterred and ordered anyway. I'd gotten the palak paneer, my favorite Indian dish and my usual basis for comparison, with kulcha naan and it was okay, but nothing to really write home about. The palak paneer was a bit sweeter than I had expected, but other than that, just fine. My coworker and I also split vegetable pakora that came with a somewhat spicy sauce (I am a spice wimp, but he is very much not), and those were pretty good. I don't quite remember what my coworker got as his main, maybe one of the dal dishes, but he also thought it was fine. The location itself is pretty small, and seems to be more for takeout than sit down diners, although that is what we did. Parking was pretty easy in the plaza, but that might be because the pizza place next door appeared to be closed? Things felt slightly dingy, but I think maybe in truth things were just a bit worn, right down to the Corelle plates which seemed like they had been in service for a long time. Decor is pretty sparse, but the lady behind the counter was nice enough when we were ordering. Overall, not a bad experience, but also not much of a draw for me. But if you like your Indian food a little on the sweeter side, maybe this is the place for you.

Tonight I was craving a home style chicken and rice dish similar to what my mom makes . Now I know it's not possible to get that from a restaurant, but the closest to that is the Donne biryani preparation that a few places offer in the Bay Area. So I looked up Yelp and found this spot. The fact that it already had 4.9 stars was reassuring but I didn't put too many expectations on it. But what I did was call the place and make sure they'd be open by the time I made that 28 mile drive. I spoke to a person named Sagar who took my order and told me to take my time getting there and drive carefully! Husband and I got there around 9:30pm and it's a cloud kitchen setup with kitchens in the back and a point of sale kiosk and counter at the front. As instructed I called Sagar and he came up to the counter with my food, and also let me know he had added a free dessert since I drove all the way from Hayward . Husband and I got home and immediately dug in and what can I say, the flavors totally took me back to my mom's kitchen. The Donne biryani was bursting with taste, and what made it superb was that the flavors were in balance, with neither the spices nor the aromatics being overpowering in any way. The other dish, the pepper chicken was epic by itself, and should have been enjoyed with a bread of some sort, because the biryani didn't need any accompaniment. As if this meal wasn't divine enough the cherry on top was the pineapple kesari dessert that Sagar kindly added to our takeout bag. Thanks Nalapaka, for a taste of home, away from home !

This location was much more peaceful compared to the Palo Alto location. I stopped by on a Saturday evening, and there were only a couple tables that were occupied. I will say I feel like the portion sizes here are noticeably smaller than those at the Palo Alto location. This might be because all of the orders are packed to-go, so maybe there's less space for food? For instance, the thali from the Palo Alto location includes a side salad, which was not included in my order here. The other sides (pickled salad and daal lentil), along with the entree, were also significantly smaller here. The prices are the same, so I do think the Palo Alto dishes are more worth it.
