This place is a hidden gem! We loved everything we ordered. The jackfruit cutlets were crunchy with a soft filling which melted in the mouth. The paneer lababdar was the best we've eaten in a while. Overall the food had a very Indian dhaba vibe. Even the garlic naan was well made - soft in the middle and crunchy on the edges. Must try! Will come back for sure. Tried their jackfruit cutlet (vegan) after seeing great reviews on Yelp. Didn't disappoint- 5 stars it comes as 4 cutlets. It was tasty, not too oily, not too spicy. A great appetizer. Also got the aloo chaat - 4 stars as chana/chickpea was cooked but little tough. Since their green chutney has yougurt, they substituted it for ketchup and tamarind sauce. We've been here a handful of times since my initial review and the food has been consistently good. Each time we have come though, we have wanted to order certain menu items or drinks and were told they don't have them. I don't understand why you would have an extensive menu but then keep telling guests that they cannot order items that are listed. Additionally, we received an electronic coupon from Madras Groceries for $10 off from 9/12-9/14 so we went today and carried out food. However, when we presented the coupon, we were told it is no longer valid but if we wanted it, we should go to Madras Groceries and get it. This makes no sense and makes me think that they just didn't want to honor it and it left a bad impression. The coupon clearly states that it should be valid (see picture). I loved this spot. We went on a Sunday for lunch and it was empty. Which seemed off putting at first... until we realized this is definitely a hidden gem. The food was SO good, and even though it's an all vegetarian restaurant, you don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy their dishes whole heartedly! The interior was so cute and very well kept. The service was kind and gave some great recommendations. Out of all the Indian food restaurants we've tried in the area, (and my boyfriend is Indian so we eat a LOT of Indian food HA!) this is one of my top top choices. I'm very excited to return for more. So this was another Indian restaurant for a while which I never got to try. Left town and came back to find a Peopermint in its place. The other place seemed fast casual but this is a full sit down dining experience. The room is quite stark white but is a significant upgrade from the other place I remember passing. The food is very tasty and light. My friend ordered a ton of stuff and we didn't feel too full . The server is quite friendly/outgoing and has many suggestions. The flavors were on point. The daal makhni was not filled with cream like other places do and malai kofta wasn't as sweet, just the right amount. The quantity was less I feel, for $15 fish appetizer there were only 6 pieces. The breads were actually made in tandoor and were crispy and fresh. The service was good and place inside is not bad too. I would be coming back to try other dishes. They don't have a long menu which is nice as it doesn't get too overwhelming. I love the name of this restaurant. The food tastes great! I think it is actually on the milder side, which is good for most people. Service-wise, i had to go to the counter to pay my bill. The staff is friendly though. I think the dining room could use more art-work on the wall. Also, they are competing in a South-Indian shopping center and this is going to be tough for them. My mom and I went to PepperMint Indian Restaurant today and there was only one waiter named Snodan, that's how you spell it I presume. He was single handedly cleaning up tables and filling in orders. He even had the time to stop and recommend popular dishes that we got to try out. The food was delicious and each dish made us even more excited. We came to try and got: - palak paneer - super creamy - I'd call it the Indian version of creamed spinach - paneer butter masala - I was expecting something like butter chicken sauce but found it more tomato-y like more tikka masala like - yellow daal - this was only $6???? So good and the best deal with the portion! Extra fiber since it's lentils and less heavy since it's not creamy - rice - plain naan - butter naan The curries and lentils were delicious! Not too spicy, creamy, smooth, and flavorful. The paneer was soft and delicious! Thankfully they didn't skimp on them either! Definitely stood out in my opinion even with the bigger cubes. I was actually not super impressed with the naan because i usually like the fluffier naan and this was crispier. The bottom was a little burnish than I'd liked too. It made it harder to dip or wrap around the paneer cubes. We were the only ones in the place for a while but our food took quite some time to come out. As a non-Indian Asian, I enjoyed PepperMint. It's a casual dining place that is located where the old McDonald's was. The food is flavorful, and the server was attentive. I don't know why it doesn't have more customers when we were there for Saturday lunch. I totally recommend the samosa chaat, the tandoori chicken platter sizzler (weekend only), and the butter chicken, very nice. The curry for butter chicken is smooth and delicious. The only downside of the butter chicken is that there is not enough chicken to go with the curry. It's that good. The garlic naan was delicious. And we also enjoyed the Kerala fried chicken in the non-vegetarian platter sizzler. It's on the pricey side. But give it a try when you are in Sunnyvale. read more

It was fairly quiet with just one other family dining. We got great recommendations and ended up ordering the Samosa Chat for an appetizer, chicken sizzler, chicken tikka masala, 1 side of basmati rice and 1 side of saffron rice, garlic naan, and masala chai. All of that was perfect for 2 of us and even had some leftovers. This restaurant used to be called "Butter chicken Social", which was good, and I enjoyed dining there several times. Upon arrival, one would order the food and pay at the front counter (with menu items shown on wall-mounted flatscreen TVs behind the counter).. You would then seat yourself at any table you like. Water was provided on the table, just grab clean glasses at the drink counter, which also has a fridge with self service sodas and other drinks. Drinking straws and to-go containers & bags were also found there. When the food is ready, it's delivered to your table. Basically, it worked similarly to how a Sizzler's steak house does it. With the name change to Peppermint (same staff as before at the counter, not sure about the cook/chef), the restaurant became full sitdown, you get a printed menu after being seated by the staff, food and drinks are ordered through a the waiter. Peopermint's menu has many of the same or similar items as the old bus, with some additions that weren't there before. One thing I immediately noticed was a price increase on the items that existed before, yet the things that once came as part of the dish (such as garlic naan or basmati rice) are now extra cost add-ons. Since it's a sitdown style with full waiter service, a tip is no longer optional. Essentially, the change amounts to a multi-leveled price hike! We spent significantly more on a meal at Peppermint than an equivalent when it was Butter Chicken Social. What's more disappointing is some food items don't taste as good as it used to. The rice wasn't like it was, and the kerala fried chicken changed flavors. It's now too salty. Not happy, and won't return. read more
