When I arrived at the restaurant on a Saturday evening, it looked like a covid setup in there (the way most restaurants were arranged during covid in 2020-2022... it is now summer 2025), dining room access blocked off and the space partially being used as storage, chairs lined up in the back of the restaurant near the entrance, a bell to ring for pickup. I was quoted a 20-minute wait time when I placed my order online, but it was actually ready in 30 minutes. The service was neither professional nor friendly, the staff seemed to be struggling to handle business, quite a few customers just waiting around for their orders, including myself. The naan was thin and stiff, and tasteless, even though I had ordered the butter naan. Luckily the butter chicken dish was tasty, bite sized chunks of chicken, not very tender but still satisfying with the curry which was HOT in both temperature and spice. Overall, I didn't have the most pleasant experience ordering for takeout here, but if you're in the mood for some butter chicken, this place is not bad. read more

This is a solid restaurant that we love! Every time we vacation in the Bay Area, at least one meal is from this restaurant! Their biriyanis are delish! Their appetizers and curries are flavorful. They prepare the dishes to our liking. Ian does not have a Desi palate, so he prefers everything mild or lower. This restaurant accommodates us in that regard. Ordered on DoorDash for pickup as a ghost kitchen. Pleasantly surprised with this place. Restaurant seems to be pick up only as a large table is blocked off in the front for pick up and ordering. The butter chicken was super creamy and buttery tasting. It also has a nice kick to it. Not much chicken pieces inside but delicious flavoring. The garlic naan was soft and warm. It comes with lots of fresh garlic on it. Tastes great if you are a garlic lover like myself. A bit pricy for the portion size but would pick up again. read more

I am visiting from out of town. I wanted to try a few types of Indian cuisine. I wanted quick and good tonight. It wasn't so quick, the locals definitely know how to order. They are not stopping what they are doing to help a confused tourist. But, watching and learning, a quick scan of a QR code had me going on my order. I ordered online and had no idea what the restaurant was like. When I arrived, it appeared dirty, with flies inside, which was already concerning. I ordered goat biryani and other items, and found multiple long hairs in the food. This is completely unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint. I contacted them, but being offered a replacement does not address the cleanliness issue. I would not recommend this place unless they improve their hygiene standards. read more

In $54, we got: - chicken boneless biryani - 5/5 super yummy and well accompanied by 2 varieties of salan (red spicy thick and yellow coconutty mild) and kachumbar raita good portion size. Loved the egg that came in the biryani too spiced and whole!! - mutton lamb seekh kebab - 3.5/5 well spiced but slightly dry. If u pair it with their side of spicy green chutney (included) it goes well and if u dont like spicy hot then pair it with dal makhani or yogurt dips - chicken tikka masala - 2.5/5 a lot of good gravy but less quanity of chicken pieces :( also it had some bell peppers and onions floating in there but they didnt enhance the taste. Got a few random items here today , some that we really liked, and some that were forgettable. Gobi 65 - 5/5 would recommend!! Going to continue to come back as long as they make this the way we had it today. It was crispy, tangy, chewy, crunchy, saucy all at once. Every bite was a flavor explosion!!! Loved it, can't wait to try the gobi 65 biryani. Will be back just to get this. Ate it with frozen roomali roti and boy was it deeeelishus. Gobi manchurian 4/5 - would recommend. Not ketchupy, biggest saving grace. Well cooked & not soggy. Good balance of soy flavors. Baby corn pepper - 2/5 - nothing special. Too oily and flavor wise, didn't compete with the other 2. Veg noodles 3/5 - not goopy, and well cooked. Decent amount of veggies. But no wok hay. Veg biryani - 2/5. Somehow just didn't enjoy this one. Solid spot for Indian food, but let me be clear this is pretty much a hole in the wall type of spot. Set your expectations accordingly! I believe the cuisine is primarily North Indian type of food, but don't quote me on this (they have a solid variety of dishes, so I recommend you check out the menu yourself). I've had the Chicken Dum Biryani and Boneless Chicken Biryani, both are solid. The portions are incredibly generous, and as a big eater, I can get three solid meals out of one order. They also serve their biryani with a curry type sauce and a yogurt sauce on the side. Both are delicious on top of the biryani. Ironically, we've never had their kababs, but we have tried their tandoori chicken which is delicious - good flavor, good amount of chicken served, and well cooked (nice and moist). The Chicken 65 dish is solid, we order this all the time. It looks spicy AF, but it's actually quite mild. My kids are able to eat this, and they cannot eat food that is too spicy. Finally, butter chicken is solid here. It comes in a decent size, and the price is right. The flavor is delicious, and I like dark meat chicken is used in this dish vs. chicken tikka masala. Note there is no public restroom here, but there is a sink to wash your hands. Maybe they will change this post-COVID. Pre-COVID, we would buy a drink or something else at the market next door to use their restroom. Pre-COVID, there is a small indoor seating area, and now during COVID, they are 100% takeout (at least when I last went there). While this is a hole in the wall, I knocked off a star given how dirty the restaurant seems. This would be an even more solid spot if they cleaned it a bit more. read more

Two pretty good Indian restaurants in the same strip mall. There is Abhiruchi which is a good South Indian restaurant and my recent discovery, Biryani and Kababs which is North Indian. I picked up malai kofta and paneer tikka masala (both have the same sauce BTW) combo which comes with rice and naan. I also got a malai chicken kebab and paneer wrap. Everything was above average. The place is not much to look and it looks like they use the main area for storage as well. Guessing it is because they are only doing takeout due to Covid. The man who helped me was friendly and gave me a lesson on how to make sure my credit card does not get infected when I use it which made me chuckle. read more

Ordered snacks for our party. The Chicken 65 was a serious crowd pleaser. Chilli paneer was good but not terrific. Ordered the gongura goat biryani, mutton seekh kebab and dal palak for lunch over the weekend. The biryani continues to be amazingly well-balanced and bursting with flavor. The dal was delish and the seekh kebab was decent though a bit dry on the outside. Will try the chicken version the next time. Still only takeout and unlikely to go back to full service. Oh my goodness! This review is just for the butter chicken. What do I do when times get rough? Order some curry. I was surprised this location was open pretty late in the night. I decided to take a chance despite the mixed the reviews and WOW was I mind blown. The butter chicken I got was so creamy and full of flavor. The best part? It has a kick to it! It's the perfect level of spice for someone who had a medium spice tolerance. Chicken was extremely tender. Not tough at all. The portion size was insane too. It did not look impressive in the bag but I've only finished half of the container (and that's with me eating past my portion size). I have tried biryanis all over bay area but this spot stands out, hands down! This place has quickly become my go-to place for Indian appetizers. I have tried their paneer tikka, Bihari chicken tikka, biryani, and butter chicken. The paneer tikka was flavorful with the right mix of spices. The aspect that stood out for me was that the paneer was fresh, wasn't rubbery as it becomes when it has been grilled for too long. The Bihari chicken was amazing with exotic flavors. I haven't had such a spice blend in a long time. The chicken was tender and juicy. The portion was decent in size. Overall a delight. I think the biryani and the chicken gravy were okay very average in taste and texture. Nothing special at least for me. However, the paneer tikka and the chicken kabab were on another levels. A nice find with delicious Hyderabadi biryani that really hits the spot. The uncle who runs the place is also very nice. I'm glad it is all halal. We got the following items. It's a small place so didn't have any outdoor seating. But it's well run and pick up is ready in 15-20 mins: 1. Dum mutton biryani - no skimping on the meat which I thought was good. Also really liked the spices in which the meat was cooked. Came with half a boiled egg and gravy, some yellow pista curry and raita. Portion was good for two. Gave some lime and onions also. Recommend mixing all and having it. 2. Chicken tandoori tangdi- one serving had four medium leg pieces. Came with onion, lime and chutney which all combined tasted really nice. 1 star is being generous. Awful despicable customer service and dine-in experience. Came here for lunch with 2 toddlers and an 8 month pregnant friend. We placed our order and were made to wait an hour and a half for any food to be served. Our requests that at least the kids dish be served soon were ignored. As were our requests for a cup of tea which took 4 reminders and an hour to be served. For some reason they completely ignored our order and were just concentrating on the queue of people ordering food to go. And I would like to add that we arrived when the restaurant opened at 11.30am and the restaurant was empty apart from one other table!! Finally we were served the food an hour and a half later. Some items are good, but the rest completely void of taste. If you visit the restaurant personally by any chance you can see that it is basically a storeroom and a kitchen. The storeroom starts at the entry itself. So basically this is good for take aways only. However, some items were good like the chilly chicken. I also ordered biryanis and they were quite bad. Finding good biryani in south San Jose was a challenge for my wife and we decided to get the biryani from here. We got a veggie biryani, gongura paneer biryani and chicken biryani. This is my go-to place for Indian food. I personally enjoy their Goat Dum Biryani, Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan. I had their home-style goat curry today and it was okay, the goat meat was mostly fat. Their service can be quite slow when it's busy. Expect at least 30 minutes or more for your food to be ready for pick up. Also, their mild can be considered spicy still for some people depending on your tolerance. The mild has a kick to it for sure. They haven't opened their indoor seating since COVID and I don't think they're planning to have it reopened anytime soon. read more

I came here with my husband and our friends who live in the South Bay. My husband used to come here all the time when he worked in the area and remembered loving the food. He was a bit nervous that the place had changed hands when he saw the lackluster Yelp reviews, but we all loved our dinner and it was just as good as my husband remembered. We were able to dine in at a table, but it looks like they're mostly doing takeout these days, and the food was served in takeout containers. I wouldn't say I'd come here for the ambiance but the food more than makes up for it. We ordered the boneless chicken biryani, gobi manchurian, butter chicken with naan and rice, the chicken seekh kebab wrap, and a chicken kabob -- I'm not sure which one but it might have been the chicken boti kebab. The food was so delicious and flavorful -- we loved how they used so many spices! I think my favorite was the butter chicken, but the other dishes were also great. All of that came to under $100 including tax and tip and we even had leftovers. I wish this place was in the East Bay so I could come more often! read more

I decided to try this place today for a pickup to complement my lunch, and I ordered 2 types of kebab - the Bihari chicken and the lamb seekh. I only occasionally do negative reviews, but this case was too compelling to ignore. The kebabs were terrible. Dry. The taste was just awful. The Bihari kebab was bland and dry and possibly a re-heat and not made fresh. The lamb seekh was even worse, with a terrible after taste, that I will need to now get rid of, perhaps with a nice Coca Cola. There are many Indian and Pakistani restaurants that do get it right. Biryani and Kebabs is NOT one of them. The staff are friendly and polite, but they deserve a restaurant that serves good quality kebabs. read more

We really enjoy the Boneless Chicken Biryani at Biryani & Kababs in Sunnyvale. We picked up two orders of it today. Yes, the decor is very plain inside - but this is not a concern because the food is that good. To appreciate it, look into the details. They're ALL there. Visual: The turmeric yellow color on the rice and the char on the chicken are perfect. A smoothly sliced ring of red onion. Curry leaves. Chunky pieces of chicken. Chopped cilantro garnish. Three sauce condiments ranging from a spicy curry to a zesty cashew sauce to a refreshing yogurt let you customize wetness. We've dined at the restaurant and the presentation is carefully laid out with the chicken on top. Our to-go orders are also arranged nicely in a to-go box. We've even ordered party platters of it and it looks great on the buffet. Aroma: Make sure you are eating it steaming hot otherwise you might miss this part. There is a lot going on in this flavor profile and the wonderful thing is that it all balances no matter what you get on each spoonful. Try it, close your eyes when taking in a bite and let those spice and aromas roll across your palate. You don't get that with many biryanis. Texture: There is a masterful weave of textures here too. Even the hard boiled egg plays well with everything else. Again, take a bite with your eyes closed and sense the various textures. Spiciness: For this biryani, it's usually medium spicy (don't bother asking for non-spicy) and it can get kicked up to medium-high spicy with the curry sauce condiment. Wow! Details: A wedge of juicy lime is always there. This seemingly minor detail makes or breaks many dishes (ever get a lemon when a lime is needed?) at many restaurants. Squeeze some on for background acidity on the palate. So the next time you try a biryani anywhere, look at the attention to details. PS. We have tried other biryanis, curries and wraps here...but we always go with the Boneless Chicken Biryani. read more
