My wife and I hosted our kids 2nd birthday here and it was PERFECT. I forgot the name of our host, but he was amazing and super helpful. Literally anything we needed help with and needed, he was on it. He allowed us to come the night before our event to decorate and his hospitality and kindess was beyond exceptional. This is when we had the butter chicken fro the restaurant and it was delicious. We rented out the upstairs of the venue and it was a great size for about 120 people. The upstairs was split two rooms, which was nice because one room was dedicated as the playroom for kids, and the other was for mingling and had the food. We didn't have much time and they were very accommodating and made sure everything came out quickly. I never once had to wait to be catered to. Then there's the overall unique experience--- from the flambé tandoori chicken appetizer to the Calcutta paan old fashioned with its rose-shaped ice cube, what set this place apart for us were the unique flavors and presentation of each each item we ordered. That said-- it's hard to top the Indian food we can get at more traditional, whole-in-the wall, Indian restaurants in Sunnyvale. But there's a time and place for everything and if you're looking for a different experience with artfully presented plates and drinks as well as unique takes on traditional dishes, this is a great spot for that. We visited on a weekday with a group of 11 adults and four children to celebrate a birthday. Our party was seated in the upstairs area, which I believe serves as the venue's party hall. Unfortunately, the ambiance left much to be desired-there was little atmosphere, the speakers were uncomfortably loud, and the temperature was quite warm, especially given the hot weather outside. The drinks were underwhelming, and the appetizers were just average. The only standout dish was the chili chicken, which had some genuinely good flavor. On a positive note, the service was excellent. Allwyn took great care of our group and was always attentive and responsive. His service was, in fact, the highlight of our evening. The total bill came to about $40 per person. The ambiance was quite nice but felt the space to be congested with the tight seatings . The biryani was very off & very heavy on ghee or butter only. The panpuri was ok but $2 a piece felt very over priced. The goat in biryani and goat bhuana had the same taste. I had the awesome experience of trying out Shosha's new Lazy Brunch Buffet - which folks can try out from April 20th! Now I have to say this experience was awesome. Shoshas ambiance feels classy and upscale with amazing service to make the experience even better! What is the cherry on the top is how amazing the food was. These are some of the items I got to try: *Nafraton ka Sharbat - this was a malai flavored drink, super creamy and absolutely fresh! *Aloo tikki - one of my favorites, this is crispy and soft potatoes with delicious sauce. Talk about a burst of flavor! *rice cake pepper chicken - this was a crispy rice dish with soft chicken on top. I really liked this with the different flavors and textures - one of my favorites *chicken shawarma bao - the chicken was well seasoned, and if you like baos this you'll enjoy *vada pav Kataafi - this was one of my favorites - if you like potato and lots of crunch, this one's for you! *makai malai dimsum - for rice lovers, this is a unique dish with rice on the outside with a veggie cheesy stuffing on the inside *butter chicken pinwheel - crispy, flakey deliciousness with everyone's fave butter chicken. My partner and I went for this "lazy breakfast" buffet tasting event and the experience was incredible! I cannot stop raving about it! One of the best in the bay! You can experience this too - they launch this on this Saturday April 21, don't miss it. The buffet goes like this- Nafrat ka sharbat: Flavorful refreshing cold badam milk with subtle thandai flavors (not too overpowering), absolute amazing start to the course. Comes with a spoon so you don't miss out those amazing nuts and other things to eat. : ) Sweet drink to start the brunch with all the positive vibes! Aloo chat: Indian umami. Sweet, salty sour spicy all at same time. My definition of chatpat. Patty is cooked perfectly. Right proportions of chutneys, yogurt and thinly sliced red onions on top. Omg! It absolutely blew us away! Don't miss this. Deconstructed vada pav: This one stole the show with its presentation, so unique. Calcutta Pan-Old Fashioned: Instagram favorite? And partner's favorite too! I have a video of the making of this, cannot wait to share it. The bar tender entertains you while smoking the bottle. Drink is an amalgamation of centuries old Indian tradition of sweet betel leaf (paan) with old fashioned cocktail and the result is spectacular! The drink is not mild, but not too strong IMO. Daal Pakwaan: Sindhi delight. The daal was the right consistency and the pakwaans were crispy. This dish is one of those simple dishes yet yummy dishes, not too much masala, perfect for kids too. Yes, they have some fancy items and some simple 'ghar ka khana' type dishes! So thoughtful. Bedmi puri with aloo sabzi and raita: Famous from Bihar, served all over, and a staple on railway stations. The puri has nice texture, probably a think layer of filling too, not heavy at all, we enjoyed the puri by itself and it tasted amazing with the flavorful aloo sabzi. Loved it! Chole bhature: Best. Just absolutely the best, the bhatura wasn't greasy at all and yet so perfect, how! Chole was to die for; oh man, you cannot miss this one! Idli vada sambhar: Medu vada is crispy and flavorful with perfect mix of spices. Vada immersed in sambhar was satisfying. Chutneys are unique, a bit different than traditional South Indian food but equally good. It's really hard to go wrong with this dish. Panch puran: Ayurvedic masalas with tulsi and lemon. My favorite! Healthy alcoholic drink (haha) made with Hennessy Cognac. This is that drink which you'll sip and definitely say "oh! This is yummy!", if you're like me, haha! Pav bhaji: Loaded with butter and tons of flavor. Took my partner back to his college days in Mumbai. It's hard to find good authentic consistent pav bhaji places in Bay Area, but this one comes very close, he said! I loved it, probably the best I've had in Bay Area. Shahi gulab malai roll: Must try. Light and right sweetness. Subtle rose flavors and nicely blends with coconut flakes. I am telling you- we went crazy, they just kept surprising us! Mango & Banana liquor firni: The firni is perfect leaving your palette with hints of kalakand(milk cake). The caramelized banana and mango slices are a nice touch if the firni by itself is too sweet for you. If you read this far, haha! I must tell you again, don't miss out this unique experience. Came here on a rainy Friday night to try their food. The drinks were very good! I appreciated the Indian twist that they put on classic cocktails both the paan infused smoky old fashioned and the papaya mule were both excellent. For the apps we went with the Dilli papdi chaat and the Tangela style chili paneer. The chaat was pretty tasty and came with pomegranate on top which was a nice touch and the paneer came out hot and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a classic tomato based gravy that was a little ketchup-y almost but tasty nonetheless. Finally for the mains we ordered the spinach corn/paneer, kadhai chicken, jackfruit biryani, and naan/roti. Pretty full spread overall. The creamed spinach was a little interesting and honestly didn't really resemble any Indian food I've eaten and the staff was nice enough to add paneer in as we realized after it was corn OR paneer not both. The kadhai chicken again was pretty standard, nothing super impressive but filling and the garlic naan could've been a little more garlicky. The jackfruit biryani was a little disappointing to be honest. The jackfruit itself was fine but the rice portion of the biryani didn't feel like a biryani almost colored rice and I felt it was not very flavorful and lacking in spices. Definitely on the more expensive side as they are going for a more upscale Indian but I feel like the fusion attempts on the menu makes the food seem to lose a little bit of authenticity. This place was on our radar for a while and I happened to make it there for a dinner with friends. There are a couple of parking lots around that can be utilized and from there onwards its a couple minutes walk to the restaurant. We reached a bit late in the night though were still welcomed with a warm cheerful smile and amazing spirits by the host. We were told that the inside seating was completely full which worked in our favor as we wanted to sit outside and enjoy our dinner. They do have a corner spot where you could click a picture or two as well. The staff is not only friendly but also incredibly attentive. Elvis was working our table and gave us great recommendations and as well made sure all of our asks with regards what was ordered were answered well in time. Also to add to these starters we go the Heera Panna , Khatta Meetha Peru and a couple Virgin Mojito (friends mentioned it turned out to be more sweet than it's supposed to) . Once we settled these in it was time to take care of the main course for which we ordered the Dal Bukhara, Saag Buratta, Hari Mirch Paneer and the Daak Bungalow Chicken along with Mirchi Pyaaz Ki Roti and Garlic Naan. Everything that was ordered was finished with the just a bit of Saag and a piece of naan being left to be packed and carried home. First, I would like to thank Navleen and her team for the great customer service! We rented out the top floor for our daughter's graduation party and it was perfect! The communication experience from the beginning to end was great. Every question I had they were quick to respond. We brought our own foods, drinks, dj system and decorations and they helped brought our belongings upstairs. There's 2 restrooms on that floor so that was great! They also have air conditioning!! This is everything for us. The main room can fit about 70 people and there's a separate room that fits 30-40 people. We had the catering in one room so it was perfect. The only downside was there's no elevator so be prepared to walk up and down the stairs, however, if you ask for help, they'll help out with taking your belongings upstairs. It's a perfect spot to have an intimate gathering and right at downtown! There's parking lots either on s Sunnyvale or on the back of Shosha restaurant. They also have a balcony, I asked the gentleman if they can clear out the balcony and they did which was great, we had our guests enjoying the view of downtown. They also have food warmers for an additional fee of $15/warmer. I would definitely book with them again! Their foods look amazing, I'll stop by to try their foods and drinks! It looks delish! So when I got a text from them about the introduction of brunch buffet, I wanted to give it a try. I must say I was very disappointed. I hope they are able to take the feedback from their customers and turn it around soon. 1. Once they seat you at your table, they forget about you. The plates keep piling at the table and nobody bothers to clean them up. 2. It is not clear what is included in the buffet. Naan is not delivered by default, you have to specifically ask for it. Same with Tea, you have to order it. 3. All the service staff is too busy bringing food to the buffet, one small plate at a time. 4. Coming to food, not really impressive. Appetizers have fancy names but do not really live up to the hype. Most of them are very oily. Same with the other food, too oily. Desserts are not impressive too. Controversial opinion: this place is a really good bar that happens to have an Indian restaurant attached. We got the butter chicken (which was decent - the sauce was the best part but the chicken chunks were probably too huge) and the paneer korma (which was excellent but would've been nice if it had more panner) but the best things we ordered were the drinks - the Aam Panna Remix and a Taj beer which was super fresh and reminded me of my fav Indian lager, Kingfisher. Oh, and their mango palak chat was also good, and pretttty spicy. Not for beginners but not crazy either. If they had a gastropub with the chat and their drinks and it was open till midnight, I'd probably go more! read more

My dining experience at Shosha was very pleasant. The restaurant has a full bar and good wine list; I came for lunch and day drinking was not in the cards. I will come back to try some of the unique Indian inspired cocktails. The restaurant first floor is not very large and the tables seem to be somewhat close together. We sat at the lone table in the back so it was a little more private. Note, it is loud and the lunch crowd on Friday was very much a working professional crowd. For food, we ordered the dahi papdi chaat, Dak Bungalow Chicken, Goat Curry and Mixed Vegetable jalfreezi. The dahi papdi chat stands out from traditional papdi chat in that the yogurt (or "Ice cream bhalla") is very cold and a pleasant twist to the dish. I forgot to ask whe the crumbly stuff on top was but it was pretty delish. The Dak Bungalow chicken is medium spicy and is similar to a butter chicket/tikka masala but without the cream nor a strong tandoori flavor. I thought this dish was unique and the serving size could easily feed two people. The vegetable jalfreezi was good; you could tell there were fresh veggies, not standard frozen vegetables but like any other vegetable dish with sauce it's easy for vegetables to get overcooked or soggy. In this case it wasn't too bad and overall the dish had a nice flavor. I would not recommend the goat curry. The meat was chewy and there were several pieces with bone. Goat is hard to do and while the sauce was delicious and spicy, the meat was not tender. Someone at the table ordered the gulab jamun dessert which was 2 gulab jamuns and rose water / roofasa flavored ice cream. The dinner menu is completely new from my last visit 3 years ago. All standard fare. We ordered the mango palak chaat and paneer tikka. Both were flavorless. In fact the spices in the paneer tikka was all wrong. Both of these are supposed to be the among the best items to try according to our server. I came here for a lunch with my team. I didn't order anything as someone else had ordered for all of us, but I really enjoyed everything I tried (a lot of it being Indian dishes that I was not familiar with). The service was pretty good, they were very attentive to us (we had a large group) and they even did a little performance with dry ice that was really fun. My coworkers said "shosha" means to show off, so it was neat that they did that. Overall I had a good experience :) read more

Came here for a work dinner thing. The wait staff was friendly and very helpful. It was a co-worker's anniversary too, and the restaurant did NOT disappoint! They put on a mini-show with sparkly candles and cake, dimmed the lights, and bumped the smooth R&B music! It was great. Will definitely be back! read more
