My dining experience at Shosha was very pleasant. The restaurant has a full bar and good wine list; I came for lunch and day drinking was not in the cards. I will come back to try some of the unique Indian inspired cocktails. The restaurant first floor is not very large and the tables seem to be somewhat close together. We sat at the lone table in the back so it was a little more private. Note, it is loud and the lunch crowd on Friday was very much a working professional crowd. For food, we ordered the dahi papdi chaat, Dak Bungalow Chicken, Goat Curry and Mixed Vegetable jalfreezi. The dahi papdi chat stands out from traditional papdi chat in that the yogurt (or "Ice cream bhalla") is very cold and a pleasant twist to the dish. I forgot to ask whe the crumbly stuff on top was but it was pretty delish. The Dak Bungalow chicken is medium spicy and is similar to a butter chicket/tikka masala but without the cream nor a strong tandoori flavor. I thought this dish was unique and the serving size could easily feed two people. The vegetable jalfreezi was good; you could tell there were fresh veggies, not standard frozen vegetables but like any other vegetable dish with sauce it's easy for vegetables to get overcooked or soggy. In this case it wasn't too bad and overall the dish had a nice flavor. I would not recommend the goat curry. The meat was chewy and there were several pieces with bone. Goat is hard to do and while the sauce was delicious and spicy, the meat was not tender. Someone at the table ordered the gulab jamun dessert which was 2 gulab jamuns and rose water / roofasa flavored ice cream. The service is nice and I think this place has potential with it's unique food and drink menu. read more

Absolutely blown away by this place! The food is next-level--authentic Indian flavors with creative twist that actually work. We tried several chicken, lamb and vegetarian dishes which were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The cocktails were just as impressive with interesting names. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the drinks, not just the food. The ambience was warm and inviting, with just the right mix of modern and traditional. Great vibes for a date night or a fun dinner with friends. And the service? Impeccable. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made great recommendations without being pushy. I came here for a lunch with my team. I didn't order anything as someone else had ordered for all of us, but I really enjoyed everything I tried (a lot of it being Indian dishes that I was not familiar with). The service was pretty good, they were very attentive to us (we had a large group) and they even did a little performance with dry ice that was really fun. Shosha means to "show off" and this restaurant does just that! Each dish is uniquely presented using molecular gastronomic techniques and is a multi-sensory experience. Located in Downtown Sunnyvale, Shosha is definitely a hidden gem! The interior of the restaurant is quite ornate and decorative. They also have a really nice full bar! For appetizers, the Dahi Papadi Chaat is definitely a great way to start the meal. This is an elevated version of the street delicacy and is a stunningly presented dish. Plus, it has savory dahi bhalla ice cream on top! Pani Puri Shots are my favorite, but these were definitely the coolest ones I've ever had! It comes in a stand overflowing with liquid nitrogen smoke and comes with three different flavored waters. Chicken 65 Tikka was another highlight. The chicken is tender and very tasty. The Flambe Tandoori Chicken is also a sight to see! They light it on fire!! The Butter Chicken is like no other butter chicken I've had before! Instead of whole pieces of meat, the chicken breast is pulled and formed into balls, fried, and placed in a rich yet sweet gravy. This is definitely an unexpected but enjoyable dish! We went for my birthday lunch buffet today. The person received us and asked if we've a reservation. I'd reserved a table but he was reluctant to make us seated. After a couple of back and forth, he told you need to pay first to be seated. We'd a elderly couple with us, if he would've made it clear in the first go, it would've saved us some time. We were informed of the counter being present outside, when we reached there- no one was present to serve. I'd to go in again and request for a server outside. The starters and chats were tasty. The main course was not hot, room temperature. I expected and prefer eating hot food. The breads were served hot. Desserts spread can be better. The jalebi was cold. Have been wanting to try Shosha for a while. Finally ended up going for dinner on one of the weekdays. We did get the reservation however it was not as busy on weekday evening. We ordered chutney dusted paneer tikka , dahi kabab , veg jal Frazi, pani puri , jeera panda mock tail . Restaurant is bit on pricy side . We liked everything we ordered . For starter chutney dusted paneer tikka was superb and will highly recommend . We like all the entrees we ordered. Pani puri had great presentation and we liked all the different pani flavors . We had a party at Shosha last weekend. It was a hit among all our friends and family. Thier unique cocktails, fantastic appetizers - especially Dahi Kabab, Jackfruit Bao were mouthwatering. Our expectations from Sosha were unfortunately too high. The restaurant delivers well on "magic", with the experience, and have an excellent support staff that ensure the service is top notch. The food however disappoints, which at this price tag isn't worth it. We started our meal with the Pani Puri Shots, while it had the pizzazz of presentation, the dish majorly lacked any taste. Our favorites amongst the curtain raisers were - Chicken 65 Tikka and Seekh Kabab. The former being spicy but delicious, the later mastered to perfection. Do try their Mirchi Pyaaz Ki Roti. We got the M4, Dak Bunglow Chicken, and Kashmiri Goat. They didn't make a huge impression with our taste buds unfortunately. The chicken was a water down version and goes better with rice over roti. We came here on a Tuesday evening to celebrate our anniversary. So, the first thing the staff of the restaurant does when they come to your table is to explain that Shosha means "showoff". True to their claim, the presentation and plating of the food really is quite nice. We ordered jackfruit bao and Chicken Malai Tikka for appetizers, jackfruit bao was a 2 star was it anywhere near to what we where expecting. It no where close to the said india dish "dabeli". Chicken malai tikka was a 4 star. Tasted really yummy. For main course we got butter chicken with a side of onion kulcha and Spinach Cheddar Cheese Kulcha it was a 4 star as well. However, for the amount of money we spent (65$ per person for a meal of average quantity, including drinks, we definitely didnt gorge ourselves), it didn't feel special enough or particulary worth it, I've had better service at other high end Indian restaurants in the bay. With these caveats in mind, one can give this restaurant a go if they want to try out something new. read more

From ease of reserving table for two, being seated right away and food served instantaneously, I can't find a single thing to complain about this business on my first visit last night. Upon arrival, I noticed the inside of the restaurant was filled with customers and even more diners out in the patio. I didn't get the name of the server, but he was consistently checking on our table and was courteous. We started off ordering our drinks. My guest chose a beer and I, the Goa Connection. Mine was pretty sweet (Rosé being the main poison). I was impressed with the presentation-- another waiter had smoked it in front of me, where it grew a huge bubble on the rim of the cup and after a few seconds, burst into thick white smoke and dissolved into this pretty cocktail. Sweet, but not overwhelming. The drink menu seems worthwhile coming back for as well as the rest of the menu. Tonight we ordered lightly and tried the Tandoori Salmon and it was prepared nicely. ShoSha means show off in Punjabi, and Shosha definitely deserves a round of applause for their beautiful and modern take on traditional Indian cuisine. Using molecular gastronomy techniques and authentic ingredients imported from India, the chef at Shosha creates incredible works of culinary art that make your eyes and your mouth very very happy. I have no words to describe how impressed I was with the entire tasting menu that I tried. Every dish was so truly unique and immaculately prepared, and I absolutely loved the strong emphasis on traditional Indian spices throughout their entire menu. Among some of my favorites (although to be fair I LOVED everything I tried): flambé tandoori chicken: super unique take on one of my favorite Indian dishes! They light the chicken on fire in front of you, which results in a subtle, smoky flavor. karam podi lamb chop: I'm typically not a super big fan of lamb, but I would highly recommend this dish! The spices mask the naturally gamey smell and taste of the meat, which is seriously so tender and cooked to perfection. butter chicken: again, a really unique take on another one of my favorite Indian dishes. The chicken is deconstructed into a fried meatball, which is served with a sauce that emphasizes a rich, sweet, and sour taste profile. Meen moilee: a lovely and fragrant yellow curry made with a rare spice blend from the southern coast of India, coconut-milk, and white fish fillets. Highly recommend if you want a lighter dish! This restaurant is incredibly disrespectful and I sincerely hope nobody spends their hard earned money there. My wife and I went to the restaurant for dinner on Saturday night. We had checked open table earlier and given there was a lot of open available slots the whole night, decided to walk in at 7:50pm. When we asked for a table for 2, the staff told us the restaurant was booked completely the rest of the night both indoor and outdoor, even though we saw 4 table of 2's open. We then checked open table (see screenshot below) and there were so many open reservation slots left for both indoor and outdoor. Since we were turned down, we left the restaurant only to see 5 tables that were completely available outdoors. We visited Shosha Indian restaurant today and paid nearly $110 for 3 people, our dining experience fell way short of expectations. The main dishes were largely unavailable; many trays in the buffet were nearly empty, and refills were not offered until the meal was nearly over, around 1:00 PM. This suggested a significant lack of preparation for the anticipated crowd size. The quality of food was disappointing. Most of the dishes, including the appetizers such as the coleslaw sandwich, dry paneer wrap, and overly greasy spinach baklava, corn masala, were not fun to eat at all. Moreover, the restaurant's layout seemed cramped for a buffet setting, worsening the uncomfortable dining environment. Service was also lacking; dirty plates sat uncollected for a long duration, and our table did not receive any follow-up on water or general service after being initially served. Our server was prompt to process our payment but did not check back with us thereafter to ensure our satisfaction with the meal. The only moderately nice expereience was the chaat station outside, which was decent despite being under-stocked. The staff there was courteous and friendly. Hence these guys get a 1 star or else I would have given zero if Yelp had one. For a price point of approximately $110 for three people, including taxes, the value received did not match the cost, especially when compared to other Indian buffets in the Bay Area. Last but not the least live music was too loud and could have lowered the sound so that people could at least enjoy that as the food and service were horrible. Went here for lunch. Chose to sit outside. This place lives up to its name, Shosha (show off). Each dish we ordered was picture perfect. The servers here are very friendly. The food: 1. Panipuri - Presented very well with a variety of pani. 2. Chicken Malai Kabab - Finally found a restaurant that made this dish right. The chicken was marinated well. 3. Kali Mirch Chicken - As the name suggests, had a nice peppery flavor to it, and very tender. 4. Chicken Tikka Lababdar - This tasted similar to the regular chicken tikka I have had before. I preferred the Kali Mirch Chicken 5. Paneer Kulcha - Very soft with a generous amount of flavorful stuffing. Complimented the chicken very well. Would definitely want to dine here again. I have been eyeing Shosha for so long, my only regret is that we put off dining here as long as we did because WOW. I was not expecting to be completely blown away by an amazing dining experience on what we thought would be a relatively casual dining experience on a Wednesday night. Not only does Shosha look Michelin star worthy but the food is as gorgeous as it is delicious. The best thing is that the food isn't precious - the portions are substantial, comforting and filling and packed full of flavor. The menu is so vast, I think even ordering the number of dishes we did, we'd have to be back at least two or three more times to try everything.. but do trust the challenge is accepted :) The drinks, by the way, rival any specialized cocktail bar - they're so well developed, unique in their flavors and absolutely phenomenal. We may have had every cocktail on the 'special' menu... The owner was right there the entire time and she's a lovely, friendly woman. All of the servers are so friendly and have wonderful recommendations if you don't know where to start. We definitely took our time and didn't feel rushed and it was so lovely of them to scoot over an additional table once they deduced that the number of dishes we ordered would make us feel crowded at our four top - how amazing is that? Another thing worth noting is a family with a toddler came in at 9 15pm - the servers were quick to offer a high chair and didn't hesitate in seating them despite the later hour, this is so very non-standard for the Bay Area and refreshing because one doesn't particularly expect such a courtesy after 9. Terrible experience at weekend brunch. One of their staff forced us to pay upfront BEFORE we even set foot inside the restaurant! From fast food places to Michelin star restaurants, I cannot recall that ever happening. But the worst was that this atrocity was inflicted in a completely random way. After hearing about this place a LOT, finally ended up there for lunch. Got a table outside and we were seated in a few minutes. Ordered Pani Puri shots, Crispy Hara Patta Chaat for appetizers. The shots arrived quickly and were great. It was definitely fun watching it! The spinach chaat was probably forgotten and did not arrive till we reminded them twice. When it arrived, it was cold and the pakoras were super hard. Did not enjoy it as much. Asked the server to get a piece of paper to keep the toddler occupied; that never arrived till the end of the meal. The servers were forever confused and kept asking everyone the table number when they arrived with the food. Strange for a fine dine restaurant. For mains we got the butter paneer, paneer kulcha and mirchi pyaaz ki roti. They were all delicious and glad they were served warm. Recommend the butter paneer for sure!
