Excellent value and flavor. Hearty Indian meal. Very attentive service. Naans are great for sharing. Would order a mix of curry and dry dishes. Standard atmosphere, nice location.

Stopped by for buffet lunch and everything was very fresh. The buffet includes naan and chai. The dessert is good they have gulab jamun and halwa and rice kheer. With all the other buffets closing this is the best!

My friend was hosting an event here at Sakoon and despite having grown up around the area it was my first time checking it out. The interior is spacious and modern, with an upstairs area which was where the event was held. It looked like the party was organized pretty well inside, so it seems like the service for private parties is good. The food here was buffet style, with various choices of curries like butter chicken and paneer to choose from. All of them were very flavorful and tasted great, so I had no complaints here. The naan was hot and crispy, so you don't have to worry about the execution on that end. For dessert I had their gulab jamun, which was very warm and well-done as well. Even though their food here consisted of classic Indian dishes, I do think that they made them well and I had a great time at the party. If you are planning on hosting a private event at Sakoon I think you'll have a good experience!

This was my first visit, and I really enjoyed the buffet lunch. The food was fresh, flavorful, and just the right variety for an Indian buffet. The restaurant is clean, including the restrooms, which is always a plus. I loved the separate vegetarian buffet and the Pani Puri station--such a nice touch! It's a shame they don't offer a buffet for dinner, but overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back. One reco improvement: The gulap jamun was the worst I ever had. Very strong chemical sweet that ruined my tastebuds. I hope to see improvement in my next visit.

Firstly we went to Sakoon as a family for their Lunch Buffet for $19.99 plus tax. Hence this review is based on food we ate during the Lunch Buffet and not any Ala-Carte Menu. We as a family go often to Sakoon and I am writing review for the first time. Also our advice is to reach the place around 12:00pm to avoid the crowd and also get their freshly cooked dishes. We are also vegetarians so cant comment on their non-veg food. The Great things about Sakoon: 1. Food was very fresh and the buffet price though steep is one of the most satisfying food experience since you alone would never get to taste so many dishes 2. Appetizers we had Pani Puri and the Pani was excellent. We all had it thrice. Pani Puri had chutneys, sev and Potato/chana mix. There was no hot ragada for Pani Puri but the Pani was outstanding 3. Dahi Vada was mediocre. Dahi was good but Vada was not that soft and needs work. 4. Fritters were really great. They had Onion Bhaji, Mix Bhaji and Tikkis. 5. Main Course had Tadka Daal Fry which was extraordinary and we had fantastic Daal Chaval (Rice) at the start which we usually dont do. We always eat rice at the end. 6. Their vegetables had Methi Malai Mutter which was 3 star, Mix Kurma Spicy which was 4 star, Palak which was 3 star. There was Paneer Tikka Masala also which was 4 star. 7. Fresh Naans were served at the table and Garlic Naan we had to order, they could not give it complimentary. 8. Deserts - all were good and they had Gulab Jamun, Kheer, Gaajar Halwa. Only Jalebi I thought was 2 stars and was fat than usual jalebis you have outside. 9. They also had chai and salads plus fruit plate with pineapple. 10. Overall an excellent food experience for Lunch Buffet and we got to taste so many delicacies which you expect from a Lunch Buffet. 11. They also had Chole Kulche and Kulche could be little more crisp and served hot on the table if possible The things Sakoon can improve on: 1. I think One Garlic Naan they can give complimentary as kindness if someone asks and not charge for it. 2. $19.99 is steep for buffet and a $16.99 would be a more fair price for 6 people or more. I completely understand if 1 or 2 people come $19.99 is fair price. 3. Some South Indian like Idli Vada and Chutney is expected when it comes to Buffet and there was absolutely no south Indian food. 4. Also there were no soft drinks and no icecream which could easily enhance the desert experience 5. There was no chaas (Butter Milk) or Lassi which we used to see in Summer Time. Overall I feel Sakoon is great place and same owner as Bombay Garden Fremont which closed now but in its best days, it was known for the Best buffet Place in the SF Bay Area

    YUMMY! :)

Delicious, and reasonably priced as long as you keep lunch under $20. Just one thing: I used to go ALL the time when it was Bombay Garden. I miss the following items they used to make/serve: Chai (they kept a big kettle of it and sugar on the side with lunch buffet), Sambar, Dosa, Narvatan Koorma. 'any chance of getting those fav's of mine back? p.s. Never remove the Tandoori Chicken. It's THE MAIN reason for me to go :)

Honestly I'm pretty surprised at the low ratings here because I really enjoyed my Sunday lunch buffet experience! We showed up right at opening time at 12pm on Sunday and it was pretty empty, but started getting more crowded around 1pm. In summary, I think you get a great deal for the price with delicious food in a beautiful, clean atmosphere. Service was also good and the waiters were attentive and checked in occasionally. A few of my favorites were the butter chicken, saag, kadai paneer, gulab jamun, and rice kheer. I would definitely come back for the lunch buffet! For $22.99 weekend prices, I think it's definitely worth.

Mint murgh Tikka, amritsari kulcha, and shahi paneer is all you need for two! This restaurant focuses more on the sweet and creamy side compared to others. Service is fast and the ambient has the fine dining feeling with ample seating, including booths.

Very beautiful interior design, very calming, classy and luxurious. Every single food we ordered was full of flavor. Amazing service as well. Our server Mahendra was very helpful and caring. If you want top service and amazing food, come here. You will not regret it.

Set up our flowers before hand.

We worked with Sony to work out a solution for a birthday celebration. The party rooms were booked for our date. They were creative to get us set up in one half of the restaurant and we were given early access to set up flowers. The birthday honoree enjoyed the get together immensely. Guests commented that the food was very tasty. Thank you for your flexibility and hospitality!

Lunch buffet Mon-Sunday now! Hurray! There are choices like tandoori fish, pani puri and butter milk. Those are very special! I love their rita yogurt and dal. Nan is ok. Easy parking and large lunch selection for meat loves and vegetarian. I would come again.

Low quality, felt like frozen food barely heated. Naan was ok but everything else was mediocre. Not at all like the Mountain View location.

When we arrived, the place was empty, but it began to fill up after we were seated. A kind young man showed us to a table and brought us menus and some water. It's beautiful inside. It's a long and narrow space and they have plenty of seating options for small and large groups. The chairs are covered in soft colorful velvet. They were very comfortable to sit in. There is a beautiful painting of a young woman wearing traditional clothing. There is a full bar with seating at the counter. The chandeliers are gorgeous and I loved the colorful umbrellas hanging upside down from the ceiling. Our waiter, Shreeshant, was beyond friendly. He was so kind and attentive to our needs. He gave us some recommendations for appetizers, which I really appreciated. We ordered the Chicken Tandoori Momo's (6 per order), per his recommendation. We also ordered the veggie samosas (2 per order). For our mains we ordered the Dum Biryani with shrimp, chicken korma, eggplant curry and butter naan. I really loved that you can customize your heat level with all the main dishes. We ordered all our dishes mild spice. First to come out was the Chicken Tandoori Momos and the veggie samosa. The momos came out sizzling on a cast iron skillet with onions and peppers underneath them. These came with a mild sauce to accompany them. The samosas came with three different sauces. The sauces were tamarind, mint and a spicy sauce. My favorite was the chicken momos. They were so flavorful from the inside to the outside. They have a tandoori flavor on the exterior and the sauce that it came with paired well with it. The samosas were also very good. I liked the mint sauce best, with the samosas. My husband liked the spicy sauce. I would definitely order both of these again. Next our main dishes came out. They also gave us some plain basmati rice with our food. The dum biryani with shrimp was so good. It's a very large portion. The shrimp were delicious. The chicken korma was creamy and rich from the pureed cashews. It went great with the naan. The eggplant curry was the most mild out of all the dishes. There were three cooked baby eggplants in a coconut curry sauce. I would say the sauce had more of a coconut flavor that stood out. It was good. The naan went well with everything really. We couldn't finish all that we ordered. We were given takeout boxes for our leftovers. We will be eating very good again with these leftovers. I really love their menu here. It's extensive with many different offerings. A big thank you to the staff for their excellent hospitality. We look forward to returning for more meals.

We got an order of the pan fried chicken momos. It reminded me of pot stickers, including the wrapper. I preferred something a bit more traditional with a thicker dumpling style wrapper.

It was also very thin. The garlic naan didn't have fresh garlic, it seemed to be the pre-minced garlic preserved in lemon juice that you can buy in bulk, and it was burnt on top of the bread. I'm thinking they take frozen naan, spread the preserved minced garlic on top, and throw it on a grill to char it. The flavor of the curries was good, but they were extremely greasy. So greasy that when I tried to scoop some up with the naan, it all slipped off and just left the grease on the bread lol. The paneer pakora was pretty good, crispy, and came with a delicious sauce (a chutney of some sort I think). The mix pakora was soggy and flavorless, and we ended up throwing it out. The price for food at this place is on par with or more expensive than other similar restaurants in the area, but the food quality is poor. Hopefully they improve, but for now I'd say skip it.
