I've been to this place a few times already and I even went yesterday with my friend after we went hiking. Today's experience was very disappointing! The food is usually ok but today everything was salty and I found a piece of METAL WIRE in my food (see the picture). I told the manager about it and he said he'll take care of it, but the only thing he did was remove the wire from the table. It'll be a very long time before I come back again. My friend was hosting an event here at Sakoon and despite having grown up around the area it was my first time checking it out. The interior is spacious and modern, with an upstairs area which was where the event was held. It looked like the party was organized pretty well inside, so it seems like the service for private parties is good. The food here was buffet style, with various choices of curries like butter chicken and paneer to choose from. All of them were very flavorful and tasted great, so I had no complaints here. The naan was hot and crispy, so you don't have to worry about the execution on that end. For dessert I had their gulab jamun, which was very warm and well-done as well. Even though their food here consisted of classic Indian dishes, I do think that they made them well and I had a great time at the party. If you are planning on hosting a private event at Sakoon I think you'll have a good experience! read more

Firstly we went to Sakoon as a family for their Lunch Buffet for $19.99 plus tax. Hence this review is based on food we ate during the Lunch Buffet and not any Ala-Carte Menu. We as a family go often to Sakoon and I am writing review for the first time. Also our advice is to reach the place around 12:00pm to avoid the crowd and also get their freshly cooked dishes. We are also vegetarians so cant comment on their non-veg food. The Great things about Sakoon: 1. Food was very fresh and the buffet price though steep is one of the most satisfying food experience since you alone would never get to taste so many dishes 2. Appetizers we had Pani Puri and the Pani was excellent. We all had it thrice. Pani Puri had chutneys, sev and Potato/chana mix. There was no hot ragada for Pani Puri but the Pani was outstanding 3. Dahi Vada was mediocre. Dahi was good but Vada was not that soft and needs work. 4. Fritters were really great. They had Onion Bhaji, Mix Bhaji and Tikkis. 5. Main Course had Tadka Daal Fry which was extraordinary and we had fantastic Daal Chaval (Rice) at the start which we usually dont do. We always eat rice at the end. 6. Their vegetables had Methi Malai Mutter which was 3 star, Mix Kurma Spicy which was 4 star, Palak which was 3 star. There was Paneer Tikka Masala also which was 4 star. 7. Fresh Naans were served at the table and Garlic Naan we had to order, they could not give it complimentary. 8. Deserts - all were good and they had Gulab Jamun, Kheer, Gaajar Halwa. Only Jalebi I thought was 2 stars and was fat than usual jalebis you have outside. 9. They also had chai and salads plus fruit plate with pineapple. 10. Overall an excellent food experience for Lunch Buffet and we got to taste so many delicacies which you expect from a Lunch Buffet. 11. They also had Chole Kulche and Kulche could be little more crisp and served hot on the table if possible The things Sakoon can improve on: 1. I think One Garlic Naan they can give complimentary as kindness if someone asks and not charge for it. 2. $19.99 is steep for buffet and a $16.99 would be a more fair price for 6 people or more. I completely understand if 1 or 2 people come $19.99 is fair price. 3. Some South Indian like Idli Vada and Chutney is expected when it comes to Buffet and there was absolutely no south Indian food. 4. Also there were no soft drinks and no icecream which could easily enhance the desert experience 5. There was no chaas (Butter Milk) or Lassi which we used to see in Summer Time. Don't try to split the bill as they will only allow you to use 1 credit card. No exceptions. Standouts at the buffet were the samosas, dal, and butter chicken. I would skip the rice pudding as it was a bit too sweet for me. It also has Rose water as well. The place is nice decorated with lots of booths for private dining. We have had a consistently good experience here, time and again. There is a lot of variety for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. There are at least 2-3 appetizers and an equal number of good desserts. The main course is also quite expansive, and the food has always been consistently fresh. However, this is not the only reason why this restaurant stands out for us. The biggest reason is that ALL their food is free from nuts and common allergens. I asked them multiple times, and they assured me that everything was nut-free. This is practically unheard of in Indian buffets, where either the desserts typically contain cashews or pistachios, or the curries include cashew paste. My kids ate to their hearts' content, and we came back home feeling truly satiated. Whenever we have a family gathering, this is definitely where we'll go! read more

By mistake, I added one to the hundreds position and gave more than $100 as additional tip in addition to the mandatory gratitude. That nice woman noticed my mistake and brought it to my attention when we were leaving. I was highly impressed by her professionalism. upon my request, she corrected the mistake and charged me correctly. very professional staff. I do certainly recommend this restaurant to everybody. The service was outstanding (thank you Sony) and the restaurant is very clean and has an incredible ambiance. Here is what we ordered: Appetizers: - Tandoori chicken (full) - Seekh Kabobs Dinner: - Chicken Chetinad: this is an outstanding recipe and so tasty and spicy (if you like spice then try this) - Shahi Paneer: the presentation of the dish was excellent but a little bland for my taste preference but very flavorful - Achari Baingan: this is an outstanding dish and so flavorful and perfect blend of spices and fresh - Roomali Roti: this is one of the only places where we have found roomali roti in the Bay Area. It reminds me of my childhood in India - Naan bread basket: a good sized helping of various naans I've attached pictures of our meal (sorry they were taken mid eating so they look sloppy) - the presentation was very good and their serving dishes are also high quality. We came on the Labour Day for lunch . There seemed to be a good spread . The salads were in a place marked non vegetarian, so vegetarians could miss that ! All the gravy items were similar and none of them were hot ! We were the first bunch of visitors that day . The paani poories were average , so was the poori & masala . The desserts were disappointing too . And worse still was we were given a table in which entering and exiting were difficult.Certainly for the price ,the food can be made more tasty or atleast served hot ! We love the buffet here! We always come when we're in the area visiting family. There's a large variety of dishes and the setting is comfortable and clean. The servers are very attentive and the manager was kind and made sure our kids were comfortable. The day we came, there were four different dessert dishes, including jalebi, gulab jamun, fruit custard and lychee halwa. Most places only have one or two. Large non veg selection in addition to veg. The fruit salad was fresh and delicious. Only thing I would suggest is maybe less salt in the dishes. Most dishes were just a bit too salty. Biryani- 4 Gulab Jamoon- 4 Drinks - mango mocktail - 3 ( too sweet ) I did not try tea Service : we worked with Robert to book the venue and decide the menu and he was responsive and was clear in his communication. The accommodate changes to their menu. They allowed us to give the final count of guests 1 day prior . Good experience here. He did not note down the menu when we met him in person and called to confirm items just before the event. On day of event - appetizers were not available in good quantity and main courses were late . People were hungry. Plates being cleared from time to time but could have been better Space : the lower floor party space is dingy , carpets look dated , lighting is terrible - affects the quality of pictures . The pillars in the middle are an issue with visibility . Some reflective surfaces including the pillars are distracting. Walls have signs of previous parties having left marks of taped decorations etc. I wouldn't recommend this space. Tables had glassware and napkins and water jugs. No table cloths. That is extra I believe. All in all, we picked this for our baby shower because I had liked the food and space ( the 2nd floor ) at a friend's event here but when it came to my own I was not fully satisfied for the price . Wasn't sure what to expect at first but ended up enjoying the meal more than I thought the place had this laid back feel and the staff were genuinely kind right from the start they weren't pushy or stiff just real easy to talk to and actually seemed to care if everything was good or not and that kind of attitude makes a big difference when you're trying to just enjoy your food without feeling weird the food itself had great flavor and you could tell it was made with fresh stuff not just thrown together even the simple things tasted like someone actually cared and that's not always the case the way it was plated wasn't over the top but it looked clean and appetizing and it came out at a good pace didn't have to sit around forever or feel like they were trying to rush us out everything we tried had a little something to it that made it feel worth the price not just filler or bland bites it was the kind of meal that just felt good all around. read more

The staff was so accommodating to any requests and quick to clean up any empty plates. The lunch buffet has a good selection of starters and main dishes, having both meat and vegetarian options. I made sure to try a little bit of everything, but the standout dishes for me were the chili fish and butter chicken! Both were bursting with flavor and delicious with saffron rice.
