10/10 for Indonesian coffee! I was so excited to try Hijau because I was never able to make it to their farmers market stand, but now they have a brick and mortar store which is so beautiful and spacious. I would love to sit inside, but unfortunately I have dogs so I have to sit outside. On the bright side, plenty of outdoor seating available so I'm really grateful. The workers are so nice too! I tried their nastar latte, which was completely new to me! I didn't think coffee would go well with pineapple but dang I was wrong. It was pleasantly lightly tart, and it was also spiced with clove and cinnamon. I'm not a big fan of clove, but this drink was so nice. I'm glad we got two drinks though because the spice could be overwhelming for me if I finish this on its own. Which brings me to the pandan latte!! Such a great pandan flavor, which you can tell is fresh, and you can definitely taste it even though the coffee is also strong. Top-tier pandan latte for sure. They have a parking lot around back, and there is street parking as well. Luckily for me, I can just walk there from my place. I've also seen people park in Safeway across the street, but park at your own risk! I definitely wanna come back here and try their new drinks that I saw they posted about on Instagram! read more

What a lovely cafe! I ordered a pastel ayam, putu ayu, the blackberry kouign aman, and the strawberry shortcake scone. All were amazing! The guy who helped me was super pleasant (no Gen Z stare here ) and the interior was open and airy with a very chill, calming vibe. I LOVE supporting a small business, and I'm absolutely delighted that Hijau took over a former Starbucks location. What a win for us in San Jose! I'm a huge fan of pandan anything! I got their pandan latte, 50% sweet, 2% non-fat milk and light ice, and their klepon latte everything regular. I loved the pandan latte! The flavor of pandan was there but overtime I think the coffee took over majority of the drink which I didn't mind. I love the pandan leaf as the finishing touch! Super cute! As for the klepon latte, I loved the small touch of the coconut flakes on top. I didn't try this drink because I got it for someone but it's just as pretty. Interior does have a few tables to study and some tables outside. There's even 2 seats at the bar towards the right side of the store! Keep in mind that the bar area does not have an outlet. Located on a very busy corner of an intersection, make sure you scope out some street parking and be prepared for the popularity inside! This place was pop in early Saturday morning. We were on our way to the Giants game and needed something off the freeway. After looking for a quality coffee shop with unique ingredients, we found this place. I opted for the Klepon Latte and Matcha Pandan Latte. The Klepon Latte came highly recommended by all my fellow Yelpers! It didn't disappoint. The Matcha latte was a little thick for me, although it did have really nice flavor. It was not watered down nor did it lose its flavor to the other ingredients. The bathroom could have used a lot more love. It ran out of toilet paper and even though I let the cashier know, I didn't see anyone go back there to fill it. It was super busy inside though, and took me about 10 minutes to get my drink. read more

Level of sweetness is perfect for Asian tastebuds, just a touch to take off the espresso bite. Ice level was perfect as well --hate when a drink shop fills the cup. I've been wanting to try this place and finally I did! You don't get to see a lot of Indonesian coffee shop around here and south cal area, so I give huge respect to them. I was lucky that they had their grand opening when I came by. The line was tolerable, they had 5 baristas working so to the turn around was pretty fast. The food and drinks were ready in no time. Huge props on organized planning! I love their details on the interior design, everything screams the characteristics of Indonesia. The wall decorations, the counter design, everything is so thoughtfully and carefully designed modernized traditional indo. The pandan latte was so good! The garnish really made it feel special. The earthy vibe in the shop made me feel like I was on vacation. My husband said the cortado was the best. Wowowow my boyfriend and I decided to try since we were waiting for our table at breakfast club. The pandan latte did not disappoint and it's natural tasting compared to the neon green color you usually see in other pandan flavored items. We ordered: - Pandan Latte ($7) - very good, nice pandan flavor, not too sweet - Klepton Latte ($7.50) - also good, the coconut milk flavor shines through, not too sweet - Pastel Ayam ($6) - basically an Indonesian empanada, okay - Roti Bakso ($6.50) - milk bun with ground chicken, the bun was a bit dry - Nagasari ($5) - steamed rice flour with banana filling in banana leaf, pretty good - Risoles ($6) - deep-fried rolled savory crepe with creamy chicken filling, really good, would definitely recommend ordering! The interior is very tasteful with nice Indonesian textiles on the walls and theme of green. It's very spacious with lots of room to chat with folks or work on a laptop! Finally got to stop by Sat morning at opening time 8am. There was still alot of parking in the garage luckily at the time but im sure it fills up later in the morning as there is a breakfast/brunch spot next door as well. They sell coffee beans and other merchandise like cups and bottles and hats. They sell coffee, matcha, as well as pastries (and are able to warm it up for u). Ordered the pandan latte whole milk regular sweet bc they said it would be perfect sweet. Partner got cappuccino with oatmilk. We also got the asiago scone and banana bread. Pandan latte whole milk- 4/5 i think regular sweet for me was on the sweet side and would have been better if it were less sweet. But very subtle and unique flavor, vanilla-y with pandan. Cappuccino w oatmilk- partner said it was good. Asiago scone- 4/5 tastyy, a lil dried but scone r like that, cheesy and warm in the middle Banana bread-5/5 super moist, sweet, cinnamony very delicious! Hijau Coffee's new store is open, so I decided to visit since I missed their pandan lattes. Parking near the store is limited, and I ended up parking in the Safeway parking lot across the street. The interior of the store is beautiful, and shows a lot of Indonesian culture and art. Service is nice and fast. I got the Pandan latte for here to enjoy the vibe of the store. The drink tasted as great as I remember, with that subtle yet prevalent pandan taste I love. I also got some coffee beans as well, to take the flavors back home. Hijau Coffee is a gem! I'd always been curious to try check them out at the Rose Garden farmer's market, and love that they now have a permanent home! The interior was clean and well-lit, with comfortable seating options. I ordered an Iced Pandan Latte with a quad shot of espresso, and the Roti Bakso. They did have a selection of classic pastries, but the Indonesian bakery items really intrigued me. Both my latte and the Roti Bakso were fantastic! I had the opportunity to try Hijau during their soft opening and all I can say is I can't wait to go back!! At first glance, the aesthetics felt so earthy yet so pristine, calming & inviting all at the same time. I'm south East Asian, so maybe it just felt familiar. I love the mixture of wood and bamboo. They made some really good choices with the furniture - so cute! The lighting felt right. Love the overall vibe! I'm coming back solely just to work in this space! I've only tried their iced pandan lattes and can't wait to try other things but so far, it had a good amount. A lot of places fall short of the pandan flavor, but not this one! Hijau Coffee has been a spot i've been eyeing for a long time but never had the opportunity to visit while they were a popup, but they've now opened a storefront in the heart of midtown! The new space is very bright and open, with plenty of seating. I especially liked the open countertop seats! I visited right as they opened (First customer!) and got to chat a bit with the owner and the baristas. Everyone was super friendly! The pandan latte, one of their signatures, is one of the best versions I've had to date. It is very balanced and not too sweet, which I find can be hard to get right with how distinct/strong pandan can be. They take advantage of their strong specialty coffee very well! I heard about this place at various media outlets, so I decided to check them out. To begin with, parking could be a little confusing with there to enter. A key thing to remember is that the entrance is outside of the garage, on the street. When I walked in, I was immediately impressed with the decor: they had a live tree and what looked like live potted plants. I could tell that they tried really hard to bring greenery inside. I ordered the Klepan and Nastar Latte: I really enjoyed pinnacle syrup in the Nastar Latte; it added a really nice fruitiness to the coffee. The Klepan was also really good with the coconut milk. Cute coffee tent at the Cupertino farmers market serving unique Indonesian flavors! I have been eyeing this spot for quite a bit since I haven't had anything in the South Bay similar to Hijau. The closest place that I have had Indonesian coffee is Kopiku in SF (but that is so far!) I ended up ordering a Klepon which is an espresso based latte with coconut milk, Pandan syrup made with palm sugar, coconut flakes! This had such distinctive flavoring that played homage to south East Asian flavors and was so comforting, especially when it was served hot. I love how balanced the pandan and palm sugar was. It wasn't too sweet at all! I am eager to try more flavors here. Service was fast and quick and only took max 10 minutes to get my drink even with a line. Super cool to see an Indonesian coffee place! I took my friend from Indonesia here and there was a fun moment where she was like "omg the music is Indonesian haha" The drinks! I got the pandan matcha which was yummerz. I'd get again. You can add more syrup or honey at the end to make your drink sweeter which I feel like most establishments don't have which is cool. My friends who gotten the pandan latte said they mainly just tasted coffee and not too much pandan, but the coffee was a good coffee. The interior decor of the place is also very gorgeous and I like how it's kid friendly too! With a small nursing area and a small bookshelf with kids books. So excited a new cafe opened up in this corner and that it's a new small business owner! My husband and I have always wanted to attend their popups but it never worked out so we were very happy to see this spot open up walking distance from our house! I visited today during their first day of soft opening right before they closed and was the only customer with my 2 kids. The owner opened the door for me both entering & exiting which was very kind because navigating with a double stroller can suck (iykyk). Their soft opening menu didn't have everything they'll offer once fully opened but the owner was gracious enough to let me order a pandan soda to take back home for my husband. I ordered a pandan matcha latte with oat milk and it was delicious! Not too sweet but just enough pandan flavor that didn't get lost with the milk and matcha. The cafe itself is very pretty with couches, counter seating and tables. I loved the touches of Indonesian culture and my daughter spent a few minutes flipping thru the books they had open on one of the coffee tables. This is an Indonesian coffee place that replaced Starbucks on Meridian (THANK YOU!). We had their nastar coffee, klepon coffee, and soda gembira. For snacks we had their Indonesian street food: pastel, dadar gulung, and nagasari. Both their klepon and nastar latte are delicious without being overpoweringly sweet. We didn't even have to request sugar level adjustment. The klepon latte to me took the cake because it's creamy and had ample hints of coconut. The nastar latter are faintly pineapple-y. Their snacks are delicious. The pastel (Indonesian empanada) was crispy and warm. I did hope the pastry to be a tad thicker, but that's just a matter of personal preference. Dadar gulung (crepe filled with sweet coconut flakes cooked in palm sugar) was also delicious but I did wish for the palm sugar flavor to come forward a bit more. The crepe was to die for though! The nagasari (steamed cake with banana filling) was a reminiscent of what I remembered it, but it is a bit on the softer side. Another drink that takes the cake for me as well was the soda gembira, it was exactly as I remembered it! The place was clean and very environmentally friendly with wooden trays to carry drinks and recyclable drink carrier if one wants one. There was also plenty of seating. I got a heads up from my friend in the neighborhood that a new Coffee House had opened up in place of where Starbucks used to be, the corner of San Carlos and Meridian. I drop by the Walgreens catty corner and sometimes eat at the Breakfast Club next door. So I was eager to check it out. Great decorations, seating spots, WiFi and general music in the background. It says it's still in Soft Open mode, but pretty complete for my needs. I decided that I deserved a unique taste this morning and ordered their "Nastar Latte" I was pleased that the fellow behind the register volunteered the WiFi password when I ordered for here -- above and beyond most other places and a simple added touch to feel that I was seen. I couldn't resist adding in a pastry, since I knew I'd need my strength boosted to provide an in-depth review. This review is for the location on San Carlos Street. We visited during the soft opening and were so delighted!! We walked from a nearby neighborhood with a group of 6 plus a newborn baby. Vibe: We ordered and sat down at the tables in the back. Along the back hall there is beautiful Indonesian art on the wall by little standing tables, and behind the back tables beautiful tapestries. The aesthetic is clean, calming, and uniquely Indonesian (I believe they shipped many of the furniture and decor from Indonesia). Family friendly: My favorite part of the physical cafe set up (as a nursing mom) was the baby feeding nook! I was able to tuck in and use the chair and hook the (very cute ) curtain closed to really give my baby a proper feed instead of messing with nursing covers. It was a really nice experience and not one I've had at any other cafe or public space. There is also a diaper changing station in the bathroom. These are surprisingly rare and I've noticed most Starbucks in the area do not even have them. Drinks: Of course the drinks are amazing! If you've been following Hijau since their farmers market days you know this. I did try their pandan matcha (iced w oat milk) for the first time today and it was sooooo good. Super yummy coffee stand at the farmers market! It was their last service at the DeAnza farmers market because they are opening up a store front in a few months, which I will definitely be visiting! The baristas were super friendly. They have very unique drinks, a friend got their pandan latte which had very strong but not super sweet pandan taste. I got their melattea which as a latte with jasmine tea syrup which was absolutely delicious! We also tried their vegan coconut latte (I forgot the name) which was made with coconut milk, it was interesting and a strong coconut taste. I can't wait to their new store! read more

I've had a couple of drinks here at the DeAnza Farmers Market. I tried their iced matcha latte with oat milk and the iced klepon latte. In my opinion, the klepon latte was a bit better than the matcha latte. The matcha latte was a bit weak. It seemed to be mostly oat milk flavor with very little matcha. Menu description: Klepon latte [vegan]: espresso * coconut milk [no sub] * house-made palm sugar-pandan syrup * coconut flakes garnish I like the latte, but I felt like the pandan and coconut flavors didn't really come through, due to the prominent espresso flavor. Not a huge deal, but I wish the pandan had more of a presence. All of the staff are super friendly, and I do think that the lattes are high-quality, but I would not get the matcha again. I found it a bit strange that they didn't put the cup lid on for you, especially since there was a long line in a small area and it was difficult to get the lid on while feeling rushed. Also, there's a small $0.75 charge for oat milk, which I don't mind too much, but when paying an uncharge I'd appreciate more non-dairy milk options. Overall, good coffee and vibes. read more
