Love this restaurant! It has been very busy lately but unfortunately half the place is taken up by squatting lap top rats. Single people taking up whole tables with a coffee and their office. I just can't deal with buying a big meal with friends then having to search for a table not in the hot sun. Unfortunately these people have taken over restaurants as well as cafes. At the bar they are spaced out with single seats between them. We do love the food here and the cocktails are excellent. The farro salad was great , fish sandwiches is really tasty too. I wish we could be assured of a seat when dining here but too many people hoarding tables to spend money and get a crap table read more

i got the veggie burger and it was pretty good for the price. a bit filling but i was able to finish it. nothing is too expensive here and they got a few gluten free options. the people here are really nice and kind, good service. the main downside is the wait time. had to wait at least half an hour for our food, but i'd say it's worth the wait. quaint little restaurant that i recommend trying at least once. read more

aesthetic: 5/5 food: 4.5/5 service: 4/5 highly likely is a very aesthetic and cosy brunch spot that's worth checking out in ojai!! they are accommodating with dietary needs and serve perfectly indulgent breakfast classics with fun twists (mushroom toast, anyone?). my family came by around 2pm on a rainy friday and there was no wait -- once we were seated, we ordered the egg breakfast sandwich, the breakfast burrito with bacon, turkey sandwich, and crispy hippie wrap. we also got an iced oat matcha with coconut cream top and drip coffee, which were much-needed pick-me-ups after a long weekend of travel. the vegan hippie wrap was super tasty and filled me up for 2 meals for $16. i love how there's the warm crispy rice thrown in with avocado, and there is protein inside too so it's a well-rounded meal. the inside of the eatery is absolutely stunning with the giant akari lamp and floor-to-ceiling windows bringing lots of comforting lighting in. however, there aren't many inside tables, so definitely come early on a busy weekend to grab a seat or shop at the local trinket place that's connected next door. would highly likely come back to the ojai or la locations - please open up in sf soon!! read more

Decent food, but the service was SLOW, and the restaurant wasn't even full. There were multiple instances where the servers and bussers would take care of the table around us, but seemed to ignore our needs (serve water, take orders, etc.). When we first got seated, we weren't given water, and our order wasn't taken until 20 minutes in, after I CALLED over a waiter. I tried to wave down a waiter 10 and 15 minutes into our experience, but they would talk to the table next to us, then run away to the kitchen or the bar. I was wondering if this was on purpose or something, given how many opportunities they had to take our orders, fill our waters, and give us a candle, yet they treated us as invisible. Again, the tables around us got more attention, even the table next to us that needed cleaning got 3+ bussers (which doesn't even make sense? It should only take one person to clear the table, IT'S NOT A RELAY RACE). I saw another couple leave after getting their appetizers, so they also got the hint that the service was subpar. I don't usually write reviews or make a big fuss about restaurant service as a Gen Zer, but their service system needs to change because it shouldn't take 7+ people to (barely) run a restaurant floor at 70% capacity. I am disappointed as I booked this restaurant for Valentine's Day with high expectations. Definitely don't go here if you have plans after dinner, because you will not make it there in time. The food was okay (got the arugula artichoke dip, bolongese, half chicken), but the ambience really saves this place. If you walk along Ojai's main street, you will find 10+ restaurants with lovely ambience, so try those places instead. *Note: It seems like people on Yelp do get quick and friendly service sometimes, so maybe it depends on who is working that night. Regardless, their service system needs to change so that all service shifts are operating efficiently. read more

Holy universe they did a great job with this place. The outdoor seating has a ton of shade under a spectacular Chinese Elm. Smiski liked the menu. Lots of vegan options. The vegan Caesar was awesome. I would not get the falafel again (it's yellow inside, not green). Of the things my companions tried, the spicy grilled cheese was voted best. Imagine that Highly Likely space used to a be Carrows and they've beyond transformed it from what it's been over the years. The ambience is great and the food is even more delicious. We came for the branzino after hearing about it the fish multiple times on Hell's Kitchen and their version did NOT disappoint! It was crisply fried yet delicate in its sweetness and flake. The Spiced Cauliflower and Feta starter that was tasty with its delectable spices and creamy, smooth Feta along with the truly unique Smoked Trout dip with trout roe accompanied by an assortment of cucumbers, watermelon turnips and saltines. Last but not least the peanut caramel Boudin which was not cloyingly sweet but just enough to cut your savory palate at the end of your meal. We were seated DIRECTLY next to another table of two on the patio, less than 2 feet in between the tables. There were plenty of other open chairs on the patio too. Food was not worth the money. The pastas we got were dry and the sauces were the equivalent of prego or below. At least my drink was good. Not worth any of the hype, try Rory's Place instead. read more

I had a very uneven experience at Highly Likely today. When I walked in the restaurant was half empty (it was 1:30) so though I was alone I alsed if I could sit next to the window as there were plenty of tables open. The host declined, saying he couldn't seat me at a four top and instead directed me to a noisy seat directly next to a larger group. I asked for a quieter table, sat down and then realized that the music was very loud. As I had a really bad migraine (which I did tell him, btw), I asked if I could sit outside, so he then tried, yet again, to put me in a tiny, cramped table RIGHT next to another, larger group, ignoring the all the other, nicer tables that were wide open. I said that I would prefer a table farther and quieter, walked towards it and he followed me nearly shouting, "just not the four top!" at which point I sat down at the two seater that I was aiming for in the first place wondering if he had totally lost his mind. Ordering me loudly not to sit somewhere is kind off the charts rude, esp. when I had no intention of sitting there as he'd already made such a big deal about not giving me a larger table. Thankfully my waitress was beyond lovely, but.... when another server brought my glass with ice she put it down while literally (and I do mean, literally) saying she'd noticed a back speck in it. So I said, well then, pls bring me another glass with clean ice. Minutes later she came back with the SAME glass and the SAME ice with a black speck on it and, I kid you not, said that she had checked and it was a little piece of coffee bean from the expresso machine. Again, what??? Who does this??? My waitress was truly fabulous but I will never go here again, and will also skip the one that's near my house in Highland Park. The prices are too high to get treated this way (I finally just threw the dirty ice on the grass next to me rather than asking again for a clean refill, because, wow -- GROSS, again, who does this?). read more

Overall, Highly Likely is a welcome addition to the Ojai dining scene. The food is creative and delicious, and it is fairly priced. (Yes, it's not cheap, but it's definitely not overreaching). I've been three times - twice for lunch and once for dinner. While I liked both, lunch is definitely the move. The lunch menu is more fun and varied IMO, and it is significantly less expensive. I've had the Levantine sandwich with paneer twice - strong recommend - and the side salad with the yuzu dressing is excellent. Dinner was also great. The artichoke fritto app was incredible. Chicken schnitzel was good - nice twist on the classic. Ambience is gorgeous, and the patio area is lovely. Nice minimal yet fun aesthetic. Once you are seated, the service is really friendly, but I've also picked up on a bit of an "LA" vibe when getting seated. (Yes, I know their other two locations are in LA). In LA, you can get away with making diners feel grateful they can eat at your restaurant, because good restaurants are always packed, it's hard to get a table, and LA thrives on exclusivity. You can't do that in Ojai. The tourists are only here Fridays and Saturdays, and you need local buy-in to be successful. I think a little extra friendliness at the host stand and ordering counter would make this a home run. read more

Came in for an afternoon glass of wine after driving in from LA - the hostess immediately asks me before I'm sat if I still want to be sat bc food will take a half hour. I said it was just fine, I ask to be sat outside she says it's full and asks me if I will sit at the bar even though the entire inside dining room is nearly empty. I say no thanks I'd like a table. I'm sat at a table, run to the restroom, the inside waitress walks past me twice without greeting me, no water service, even though I'm trying to make eye contact with anyone who works there to order. An older woman walks by and gives me water says someone will be with me soon, I ask if it's possible to sit outside even though there are about 4 open tables. Someone comes back and says even though there's availability it's not possible bc the servers are so overwhelmed. I say no problem but I'm gonna leave since the vibe is so weird and just not welcoming. From the hostess at the start asking if I really want to be sat, not being helped in an empty dining room, and then the very award exchange with the hostess's when I said it was fine but I'd rather not stay. It sucks I go to the HL in LA all the time and was looking forward to just posting up for a glass of wine before a show here in Ojai. We had dinner tonight for the first time at a Highly Likely and... we were really impressed with the food, drinks, ambiance and service. All be it, they don't have a large menu but everything on the menu is or looks interesting... in a good way. We started an espresso martini for my wife and a Manhattan (up) for me. Both drinks nicely prepared and presented. For starters, we had an order of olives and an order of their chicken liver mousse. The olives were fine, the chicken liver mousse was very good! For entrees, I enjoyed the Hanger steak au poivre (medium rare) and my wife had the mushroom picatta. Both were very good! For dessert, we shared the Yuzu meringue pie (a deconstructed key lime pie). FYI, everything was nicely plated and presented. Highly likely is just what we needed here in Ojai. So.... Why not 5 stars? I'm fighting grade inflation. Highly Likely is a solid 4.4 stars if that was a scoring option. Looking forward to coming back and taking pictures to share. read more
