Really good coffee and a place I have been to a hand full of times. The owner on the other hand is very rude as I am waiting for a friend to have coffee with, he comes up to my table as I am wiaiting if I want to put in a drink order. I tell him I am waiting still for another 20 minutes. He insists I buy something or I should leave. I am using the WiFi but it's unprofessional as a shop owner or employee when it's not even even busy and there are other seats open to ask me to buy something or leave because I have been waiting for a friend. Lost my business because he is impatient as he consistently stared at me the whole wondering when I am going to order I decided to leave with the intention of not going back but my friend was about to arrive so I walked back in 10 minutes after I was asked to buy something or leave. I can't speak highly enough about this place. My boyfriend and I have been meaning to stop by for months, mostly because we loved the New York aesthetic to the shop. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but we did and boy were we right. Highlight Coffee is outstanding! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The environment is beautiful and inviting, and, most importantly, the coffee is phenomenal! My first cup of coffee (which my friend got for me) was a traditional latte. It was rich, smooth, and flavorful. For my second cup (and my first actual visit), I got the Orange Vanilla Latte. I was really skeptical, but trust me, it's amazing! They use a house-made and all-natural syrup made from orange zest and vanilla bean extract. This latte has no right to be as good as it is. So, yeah, I think we just found our new favorite coffee shop in LA. read more

A great new coffee house in Glendale! And the best in the neighborhood as far as real coffee and espresso is concerned. Going off the rave reviews of Yelpers, I was a bit reluctant to try the Butterscotch Latte. Like Phil's drinks, I was afraid the coffee flavors would all be masked by the added flavorings and sweeteners (don't like the Mint Mojito there). The barista assured me the drink would be balanced and not overpowering. And what a fantastic drink! The balance of the sweet and tasty butterscotch blended nicely with the latte. The light dash of salt on top of the foam added another great layer to the drink. Frank the other barista there were both helpful and friendly (no snootiness here). Also ended up purchasing a bag of Demitasse beans while I was here. Didn't have a chance to try their pastries, but they sourced them from Breadlounge in DTLA, so they should be fantastic. So I came here after dropping and breaking my phone to the point that it wouldn't turn on. And I'm glad I did because it helped me find a little bit of happiness on a very sad, sad day. The barista was very friendly and cheerful which automatically brightened up my day. The coffee and environment is good as well, a little on the small side so maybe not for studying unless you're lucky enough to find a spot! Oh! The space is a corner spot, with unfortunately most of the useable area taken up by the kitchen and countertop...probably at most 8-10 seats available. Sooooo this place is way too cute AND has great coffee. I love the vintage/industrial look, I asked the manager what the building used to be and was told it was a hotel and the cafe is built in the lobby! I ALWAYS get the decaf orange vanilla latte with almond milk. It's amaZing! I've also had the matcha latte but I'm pretty dedicated to the orange vanilla. Please stop in! Hands down, the best coffee in Glendale. I've been here 10+ times and it never disappoints. The Orange Vanilla Latte is superb. Sometimes, you'll even see a crate of oranges in the back, because they make their orange vanilla syrup from scratch. Their Nathan Palmer (part coffee, part lemonade) sounds like it'd never work, but it's absolutely delicious and refreshing. Oh, and their Butterscotch Latte is also bomb, with the subtlest hint of sea salt to balance everything out. These guys just know their coffee, are so original, and they're super nice too. Was really disappointed at how shallow and profit-driven the people at Highlight Coffee were. I live in the neighborhood and it's convenient for me to get coffee from them. Today when I was catching the bus (the bus station is right outside) I realized that my card wasn't working. I quickly ran into the coffee shop, hoping to break a bill and to my surprise, they insisted on me spending money in order to give me change for a $5 bill. It's like one of those places which won't let you use their bathroom unless you're a customer (there is also no bathroom there). I ended up getting coffee but also missed the bus because duh, I had to wait for them to make the damn coffee. This incident definitely left a sour taste in my mouth and I swear I will walk to Philz to get coffee from now on. The last thing Glendale needs is some Silverlake snobby coffee shop like Highlight Coffee. read more

I usually like this place a lot. I come here quite often and their service is top notch but today a bit off. The young man working the barista noticed I was waiting awhile so took my order ahead of time which was great. The young lady at the register was very polite and nice but forgetful. I ordered a drink and a croissant. The drink came quickly but I guess she forgot about my food. I gazed up at her several times but I guess it didn't ring a bell. I was halfway done with my drink and decided to leave so I walked up to the cashier and told her my croissant was forgotten and I took it to go. It's upsetting cause I really like this place and this visit was just irritating cause I had such a simple order. This is a small cozy cafe on the corner. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Very reasonable prices, and you can say that they really care about the product they release.
