PDA Coffee's drinks are stellar! Their shop is quite small and located at the corner of a little apartment community, but it's a great addition to the Eagle Rock area. Great to stop by and grab a drink to-go, as there isn't much seating (just a bench to wait for your drinks, and a few outdoor tables and chairs). I loved their little Mexican and Japanese-inspired art and book nook adorning their large open window! We ordered their Lavender latte and Matcha latte, and both were great. They were perfectly proportioned, as I could really taste their lavender syrup (which I dare say is homemade?) come through the espresso, and their matcha was slightly sweet and perfectly balanced (I love when a shop gets it right)! They know what they're doing here. I also loved their cute wide-mouth cups with their own logo and address printed on the back! I imagine they have a very small team, as the one barista was holding up shop and making drinks for us on the spot. I feel when one person is operating, they know how to do things right. He was proportioning his ingredients and espresso diligently, and kept things fairly clean and simple. I appreciate their attention to detail in making their drinks! As for their pastries... I love a good lemon poppyseed muffin, but theirs was a bit too sweet and too thick of a lemony topping for my liking (if it was less frosting and less sweet, it'd be perfect!). I'm not sure where they source their pastries from, but I imagine they're local vendors! Overall, a solid spot to stop by and pick up a quick drink and pastry to-go. Heard many good reviews about this place but when I came in it was one very tiny menu you could hardly see . I get they're trying to go with the hospital minimalistic sleek aesthetic but at least put the drinks and extra syrups you guys offer on the menu . I paid around $10 for a simple iced matcha cause I wasn't told or offered any extra syrups or cream tops to add to my matcha so I got a very plain , bland and mid matcha . read more

PDA Coffee is a charming little spot with a minimalist, almost clinical aesthetic. Super clean and modern. I've been here twice now and both times it's been the same sweet lady behind the counter running the show solo. Just a heads up: if there's a line, it might take a bit to get your order since she makes each drink after taking them. But honestly, it's worth the wait. On my first visit, I tried their mocha. Solid and satisfying. Came back recently and noticed they updated their menu, so I went for the matcha einspanner this time and oh my god... hands down the best matcha drink I've had in the area. Milky, smooth, and perfectly balanced between the earthy matcha and just the right amount of sweetness. Prices are on the steeper side, but it's pretty standard for the area. I've had PDA Coffee bookmarked for weeks, so I'm glad that I got to visit last Sunday afternoon! The shop's in a quiet area with nearby street parking. It seems like a casual, grab-and-go spot since there's limited seating with some stools and umbrellas outside. I arrived near closing time and there was only one staff member at the front, and they were friendly and quick to prep my order. The main reason for my visit was to pick-up a Too Good To Go baked goods bag, which included four random pastries (croissant, cruffin (?), donut, and muffin). The pastries were stale, but they could be reheated at home. I liked the chocolate-filled croissant the most; albeit dry, it was actually visually appealing and had a good amount of Nutella-like filling. With daylight savings time in effect, I also ordered a small Iced Matcha Latte with almond milk and no sweetener for a little pick-me-up. The drink had a beautiful color, but tasted alright. For being such an incredibly small space, almost everything about the place seemed extremely inviting. The coffee was also really good and the matcha drinks looked extremely appetizing as well. You have to try the Double Matcha -- it's sooo good! The sweetness was just right, and the milk-to-matcha ratio was perfect. I'm honestly obsessed and will definitely be coming back. I even got lucky with parking right in front (they also have a little parking lot, which is a plus!). As soon as I walked in, I was greeted right away. Cute place to grab a coffee togo! There are small short stools outside for sitting but no tables. Located on a medium-busy street, there are street parking options. Minimalist vibes, pretty simplistic menu with a few unique things. The lavender latte was pretty good, milder coffee taste (1 shot of espresso) but good lavender flavor with mild sweetness. Recommend! Matcha was decent, good color, matcha wasn't super strong but decent for a coffee shop. My expectations for a matcha is usually low at non-Korean/Japanese/Vietnamese cafes that are specialized in coffee. Can't say it's super up there in general but for the Eagle Rock area it's definitely above average. Wouldn't go out of the way for it but if I happen to be here, I wouldn't be mad about the drink. The staff seem friendly and I find the way they make their drinks really cool. Everything is by weight so the recipes seem pretty precise! I personally always get an almond milk latte, but have had friends and family try the other options, and have heard they're all great. The baristas are amazing and friendly. It's a cozy space with some limited outdoor seating, perfect for a grab and go coffee to on a walk or before a long work day. Not only does PDA Coffee serve my FAVORITE latte I've ever had (the espresso they use is so delicious. It doesn't leave a tangy flavor. It doesn't taste like electricity like some coffee shop espressos do), but now they serve the most amazing matcha in the Eagle Rock/Highland Park area. I've had Kumquat matcha, I've had Modu matcha, and the matcha from PDA supersedes the matcha from these places. They use an ample amount of matcha, I mean check out the green!!! We ordered an iced dirty chai with oat milk and an iced cold brew (black). I appreciated the spiciness of the chai, which had just the right amount of sweetness. The cold brew was very refreshing! The barista was quick and welcoming. They accept cash and credit. Street parking is available nearby. Love having this cute little coffee shop in the neighborhood! Previously there were multiple times I tried going during their opening hours and they wouldn't be open. After a few times this became too frustrating and I stopped going. However, the past few months things seem to be back on track and they're always open when I go I only get matcha from here and it's really good, especially when the owner makes it. Speaking of the owner, she is so sweet and remembers my order... it's the little things that keep someone coming back! My only suggestion would be to get a little jar of dog treats. My dog expects a treat every time we go in any coffee shop, girl just knows thankfully I almost always have treats on me, but would be such a nice touch if they offered some. PDA Coffee just opened on the border of Eagle Rock/Glassell Park/Highland Park - not far from lots of other coffeehouses. It's on the ground level of a residential complex. No dedicated parking and no indoor seating. They have a few tables with stools and sunbrellas set up on the sidewalk, but it's clearly set up for takeout. The shop is small with no indoor seating or kitchen. Pastries are sourced from Cake Monkey and include muffins, croissants, morning buns, and donuts. The pastries weren't labeled. For drinks, they have drip coffee, cold brew, espresso drinks, and tea (matcha, hojicha, chai). No pour over (sorry, Mr. Froyo). Some of the drinks come in three sizes, small, medium, and large. Spice donut ($5): it's like a crumb donut, the texture was strange. The interior of the donut was dry and dense but the exterior seemed moist but grainy. It was a large cake donut. Cappuccino (12 oz, $5.75, 2% milk, $6): A bit bitter but flavorful, tasted a bit better when it cooled down Prices are a bit higher even though there's no place to sit inside or park outside. I noticed they're serving coffee from Mother Tongue. Didn't see anything else for sale (merch, beans, etc.). Warning, the floor is not flat, so watch your step. read more

We got two cold brews and they were great- kinda light, not sure how long it was brewing for or if the beans were just a light roast, light on the flavors kind of beans. That said, I do agree with another review here- the prices are a bit more than most other coffee places in east LA/DTLA. With tax and tip, the average drink comes out to more than $8. This place has very good quality drinks but they are never open on time. I was standing in front of the shop for 20 minutes waiting for them to open and one of the guys that works there comes out from the side door and says nothing to me about them not being open for the day. It was not posted anywhere on the front that they were closed so I was waiting there for half an hour trying to be understanding that they might be running behind. Nope, turns out they posted it on their instagram story 10 minutes before they were supposed to be open that they were closed that day and that was after the guy walked right by me. Another customer came up to me while I was waiting and had the same complaint about them being unreliable for hours. I drive out of my way to support them and they can't even communicate to their customers appropriately. I will not be coming back as this is the 3rd time something like this has happened. read more

This coffee shop seems more of a to-go coffee shop (vs. one you bring your laptop to work), but they still have a couple stools inside and outside. Better for single people or smaller groups like 3 max if you want to chill and hang. It's a good pit stop when you need good coffee in the area though! Both their matcha and coffee einspanners are incredible; def for those who like a creamy drink. The cream foam on top is soooo good. Their regular matcha is also great. It's a great pit stop while you're going about your day. It's designed to be a stop-off for a great cup of coffee and not necessarily a coffee house to hang out in. They are there to get down to business and make you a delicious coffee pick-me-up.
