went to get a coffee next door and noticed this really cute food spot. this vegan restaurant has a ton of yummy options to choose from. the inside is big and it was pretty empty for most of the afternoon. i ordered a spicy ranch chicken sandwich with fries and my total was $17. i was excited to try it out. my friend got a burrito with chips and salsa. the inside is really nice, very clean and spacious. we noticed only few people come in and order. we did wait for a while even though it was not busy at all. i'd say after a good 10-15 minutes we finally got our food. the cashier was nice and brought it to our table. the coleslaw that was in the burger was delish and so were the fries. the actual vegan patty was not my favorite but maybe i'm just not used to the taste. my friend really enjoyed her burrito so i probably just would order the same thing she got next time. this is a cute spot to have lunch at but i think i'll stick with the options that don't include the vegan meat. read more

I chose this place just from seeing it was a plant based cafe as I drove by. I was instantly intrigued and knew it was going to be my lunch spot for today. I decided to try their orange chick'n bowl that is packed with veggies and brown rice. And that was the right choice! It was full of flavor and was very filling without me feeling stuffed. And upon leaving building i saw a FAILED safety inspection notice. We came here to order carry out food, it wasn't busy at all. Only 2 tables of people inside when we arrived and we were the only people in line. The woman taking our order was polite and helpful answering our questions but it went down hill from there. It took nearly 40 minutes to get our food; and numerous patrons who came in after us received their items before we did. She didn't give us an update at any point until we asked. When we did ask she was very nonchalant about the wait time. This is hands-down, my favorite vegan spot in Long Beach! They have a good variety of dishes and the most creative yummy desserts that rotate seasonally. This place is all about ~good vibes~ but all I got was dead vibes. This place didn't greet me, expected me to ring a bell to get service when LITERALLY NO ONE was there. Ringing a bell tells me you don't want to be upfront to talk to me when I/customers walk in. I felt like they only wanted to capitalize on the namaste/wholesome aesthetic. Their service was trash. I got a rose milk tea. TELL ME WHY it was handed to me with the boba syrup dripping on the outside of the cup. There was no care into how it was prepared. I recommend going elsewhere or even to the coffee shop on the corner (that place looked busy which is always a good sign). Good service deserves just as much recognition as bad service. This service was terrible. I hate walking into a new place to try with high hopes and good expectations and walking out feeling robbed of my mood and money. Smh. This is the BEST vegan burger I've had. I got the spicy ranch and they hands down have the best crispy "chicken" recipe I've tried in my 8+ years being vegan. The buns were nice and toasted and the sauces mixed so perfectly with everything else on the burger. I didn't take a picture of my smoothie but, the staff were super friendly and patient since I was being so indecisive and they helped me slightly tweak the date shake smoothie to my preference. 10/10 My main problem is that I wanted to try everything on their menu!! After a failed attempt at getting Korean vegan bowl at a different spot I aimlessly drove downtown Long Beach and ended up here. The open floor plan is wonderful giving you a warm and clean vibe I was struggling to find something on the menu to eat since I was hungry not that they were limited options however I do have a nut allergy the cashier Hector went out of his way to really go through the menu book and ask the right questions in the back kitchen to help pointing in the right direction. Hector came back with a nice list of items that I could order from safely and enjoy but the vegan chicken strips caught in my nose I thought I was going to end up with a bowl but I had to order the chicken strips and let me tell you I was not disappointed he even took a note and told me that the ranch is-based with almond milk so I opted for barbecue sauce and I was not disappointed. Ordered delivery and it took about 40 minutes. We ordered the mozzarella sticks, the southern fried chik'n burger with sweet potato fries and the buffalo wrap. The mozzarella sticks have a rich flavor with a nice crunch, although I wish they were a little smaller and the cheese was a little more melty. The buafflo wrap was pretty disappointing. Has a strong nut flavor (peanut oil maybe?). I could barely taste the buffalo sauce unfortunately. Also wish it had more leafy greens instead of just carrots and tomato. It came with chips and salsa on the side which is an incredibly random side for this dish but tbh tasted better than the wrap. Looking for a vegan restaurant in Long Beach? This is the perfect place. It's very casual, with a pretty good size menu selection. I like the entire vibe of the restaurant and the staff are friendly. The young lady who took my order patiently explained the two types of tofu I could choose from for my dish. The interior decor is reminiscent of old school Santa Cruz. Ahimsa is my go-to in Long Beach. They aren't a vegan joint that deep-fries everything and pushes food out the window in the name of speed. On the contrary, their food taste like a homemade meal (but better) fresh, healthy, and made with love. I've been vegan for years now and have shied away from ordering things that are "cheesy" because they're usually a disappointment to me. Not only do they have mozzarella sticks (which is rare), but they're so darn good! I think they're even better than the real thing and the sauce tasted homemade and was still warm when I picked up my order :-). IMO, Ahimsa has perfected the recipe to tofu/tempeh. The Thai Temple bowl is the perfect ratio of sub meat, fresh veggies, rice, and sauce. You can't go wrong. Every time I eat/cook tempeh now, I feel disappointed because the recipe does not compare to theirs, so I like to pretend I'm eating theirs in my mind.
