I'm no chef, but when you order a Szechwan style anything, you expect a chili/garlic flavored sauce, but this was more of a teriyaki style sauce. Maybe try calling it what it is, or going back to culinary school to learn about the basics. I paid $18+ dollars for the plate and didn't even get to eat much of it. This is a little gem. I was skeptical when I first walked in, the name had me thinking upscale dining! The food was super tasty, wood-fired gourmet pizza in a casual atmosphere, very family friendly with great vegan options. I never write reviews anymore but after last night I had to say something. I ordered the steak frites that were a special. Medium rare. The steak they gave me was medium well, almost well. Not the end of the world. Waitress was friendly and took it back. The chef made me another one that he cooked for MAYBE 30 seconds on each side. It was barely gray on the outside and absolutely 100% raw in the middle. This time the waitress wasn't as friendly and I didn't say anything or send it back. Just at the bits I could and the sides on the dish and called it a night. 100% sure the kitchen staff was annoyed I sent it back and wanted to "teach me a lesson" by severely undercooking the steak for me. The pizza we had was fine but nothing memorable. Slow service - it was busy and I get that servers aren't superhuman. For most of the meal the service was the right pace but the last step in paying our bill took well over 30 minutes. Not sure what happened, our server (who had been quick) seemed to disappear for a half hour. The major dislike: Ok, weird scenario but it really did put me off this place. We paid our bill and we're just outside the door and onto the street when our server comes out with the check in hand asking if we also left cash on the table to cover our bill. I'm pretty confused by this question because we left the full amount + a 25% tip. He then shows me the check saying "is this yours"? I replied that it wasn't, where he promptly turned and went back in. I get that mistakes happen but we spoke quite a bit and I would have guessed that he should have known that this significantly cheaper bill wasn't mine. The right way to have approached this would have been to ask first if it was my check and not if we had left cash to cover the bill. Perhaps give them a try, I think there's some potential here. This place kills it! Casual atmosphere with upscale food and an awesome wine selection. Sticky ribs (in an asian style sauce) and octopus apps were delicious, I'd never had octopus that wasn't rubbery before! We got the duck pizza which had goat cheese and fig jam, a perfect balance of sweet and salty. Also had the Cioppino special, which was generous on the seafood and had an amazing tomato-based broth... we didn't waste a drop lol Service was timely and friendly even with the restaurant slammed on a Friday night. My husband and I went here on date night last week. My husband had the vegetable primavera pizza and I had the arugula salad. We shared the fried goat cheese balls for an appetizer. The goat cheese balls were so delicious, sweet snd creamy. The honey, arugula and fennel pollen elevated this dish to another level. We both enjoyed our main meals. I went here looking for good pizza, since they have a wood-fired oven. I ordered a special of the day, a $22 small "frutta di mare" pizza (quite pricey for its size), which had calamari and scallops on it. The scallops were grossly undercooked, so I let my waitress know. She said she would talk to the manager. She came back about 10 minutes later and said "sorry, we have new kitchen workers". No apology, no offer to cooked the scallops (which I had placed in a large pile next to the pizza), no discount, no offer of a free coffee or dessert. In other words "too bad". I have no complaints about the server but the kitchen is slooooow. 2 hours for a meal- drinks, appetizers and entrees. I had to ask for menus 10 minutes after we sat down. Drinks took about 15 minutes to come out and my margarita was eh. The only food anyone in our party of 6 said was good were the buffalo-ish wings.
