BEWARE - Confirm and Verify the material - (Used cheap replacements) - They installed a cheaper carpet and padding than purchased. My partner and I recently bought a custom home in Round Rock and was connected through High Tech Flooring and Design to look at the different options and upgrades that we could include the house. The representative was super nice and supportive in helping us pick our our design and going through all the options to have available. In the sense, we also felt compelled to upgrade both the carpet and Padding, specifically the spill guard and upgraded carpet pile lengths. After 2 months later, and closing on the house, we noticed one of our floor was really squeaky and had to pull up the carpet to make sure we can drill it in.... and upon inspection, we realized what was installed was not the correct padding or carpet length. (Pictures displayed between sample and our carpet padding.) Spillguard is on the left (what we ordered). WE would not have known if we didn't have to also fix the squeaky floors - It's been difficult to get them to verify the correct padding, and getting a response from the office on how we can get it resolved. We brought it up, and requested that they bring in movers to help move the furniture and replace it, we're still in the process. They also had movers who wouldn't move back everything as requested - which made it difficult since my partner just had surgery on a torn ACL which meant we still had to request friends to support for something the company did wrong. They would also not verify the correct carpet that we upgraded. At this point, we believe this may have been an intentional intent to help save the company money. I believe they were banking that the new home builders would not have checked on the material that they purchased to help save on costs. MY recommendation - For anyone ordering carpet from High Tech Flooring, make sure you have proper documentation and verify when they are installing to ensure the correct flooring during the process. read more

If I could rate them 0 stars, I would. I just closed on a beautiful D.R. Horton home, and the doors, door frames, walls, baseboards, quarter round, and flooring was in absolute perfect condition. Shortly after close, I hired High Tech Flooring & Design to replace the carpet in all bedrooms, closets, and master bathroom with the same flooring installed in the main areas of my home. I am HORRIFIED to say that they did a HORRENDOUS job and are refusing to repair the damages, which amount to the cost of the entire installation based on a quote received from a trusted third party general contractor. When I went to inspect the home, I was appalled to find the floors and baseboards covered in sawdust, the walls, doors, door frames, baseboards, and quarter round damaged. The wall texture has been damaged, there are marks, smears, and scrapes on the walls. The baseboards are absolutely shot to hell with dents, black scuffs and scrapes, the boards are splitting where they meet quarter round. The quarter round was installed so badly that it is splitting where it meets the baseboard, doesn't even flush with the baseboard, and there are exposed nails and wood chipping off the quarter round and baseboards. My bedroom doors have chunks coming out of them where the installers knocked the flooring into the door, and all door frames have chunks missing or have been scuffed, marked, dented, and damaged. They also uninstalled my toilet and attempted to reinstall it. However, I have zero confidence that they reinstalled it properly based on the abominable work performed thus far. As such, they need to hire a professional plumbing company to reinstall the toilet properly. When I confronted the project manager, Enrique Juarez, he told me I should expect damages and it was on me to cover the repairs. I attempted to reach his superior but am currently being stonewalled by the company. Our goal was to have the upstairs match the downstairs, and they helped us accomplish our goal. The best thing about working with Enrique is that he was quick to respond to any questions and he always made time to listen to our concerns. The only thing I would ask is that they detail on the written agreement what the project will include and any steps the homeowner might need to take in order to fully complete it. Very, very poor quality work with tile & all other flooring. Even in a new build!! Tile & LVP had to be replaced & redone twice & is still not correct in a lot of areas. Work crews are inexperienced (from prep work to installation), poorly trained, careless & inattentive to details. This company does not hire people who know how to install tile floor. They installed tile floor in our new home only to have all the tile pop up due to poor installation. The tile they replaced it with popped up again due to poor installation. We are now having to replace all the tile in our home again due to this terrible company. We decided to do two of our bedrooms as a start ( will finish when time and money allows) Petty Tile was the 3 place we stopped in to shop for carpet after being ignored at one place and then having major sticker shock at another. we were greeted promptly and given the layout of the store front to ease our experience... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE! I placed a tile order on a Thursday and was told that they call me soon since the supplier was in town. I called them the following Saturday to check on a status since no one called me back and they didn't know. I was told they'd call me back. About two hours went by and I called back again and they still didn't know. Finally got a call saying that what I ordered was discontinued and that I should have been contacted. I asked for a refund and still have not seen it. I went to another company who had the exact same tile and guess what NOT discontinued! They went out of business shortly after cashing my credit card without delivering the product, so I wasn't looking forward to starting the carpet shopping process again. Initially I was going to give High-tech Flooring and design a 4-star rating because a 3 day job had turned into a 5 day job. However, I couldn't bring myself to do it.. I am just so happy with the incredible service & the end product. When my I first walked into the store, we were greeted by a staff member who was very friendly & so helpful when showing us around. They gave us tips & recommendations and scheduled to come out to our home the next day. After choosing what we wanted.. I expressed that the sooner we could get it done, the better. We scheduled to get the carpet installed on the stairs & 2nd level of our house about a week later. But when our carpet came in sooner than expected, he pushed for his guys to come out asap & we had the carpet completely installed by the end of the week. Awesome! The install team worked on the laminate flooring on the 1st floor . We were told that the installation would take about 2-3 days.. However, they ran into a few kinks and it took them a little longer to complete. The reason this didn't bother me too much is because.. they are the best! He's great at what he does & very knowledgeable He gave us many tips & advice on how to maintain and clean our new floors. Every day he would give us a thorough walk through on what was done & what still needed to be done. When he pulled our fridge out, he noticed that our water filter was leaking & explained that excess water on the floors may cause damage. So he went out of his way to get what was needed to fix it for us. Customer service at its best! I would definitely recommend them for the following reasons: * Great customer service. We decided to renovate our house with click together hardwood flooring. We were willing to pay more for a reputable company. This was a huge mistake as at High Tech Flooring, professionalism does not extend beyond the showroom. Before the sale the salespeople impressed us with their friendliness and nice showroom. The salesperson claimed to have over a hundred crews to convince us of the size of their operation (in reality they have no crews, they hire out each job to a low bidding subcontractor). After carefully comparing bids from multiple contractors, (none of whom used subcontractors), we decided to pay more and go with High Tech Flooring because they had been recommended to us by a friend of someone who works there. On the first day of the job, a crew of subcontractors who did not speak English showed up. The first red flag. During the dusty demolition none of them wore any protective clothing and we saw one person come outside to vomit next to our air conditioner. When the installation crew showed up (who were also not English speakers), they decided the floor surface was too uneven to proceed. At this point, the Salesperson from High Tech Flooring convinced us to pay $1000s more, even though he had already inspected the floor and had floor leveling in his original bid. The installers rushed through the job in a couple days. A representative from High Tech Flooring would briefly appear every few days for a few minutes. They would look briefly from a distance and leave. There was no supervision of the crew or their installation practices. For bigger rooms, the installation crew used the longest boards and for doorways and halls they used the shortest boards. The end result looks ridiculous. However, the most glaring issue was the crew not following the manufacturer's installation instructions. Despite the manufacturer's explicit instructions to not hammer directly on the floor to avoid damage, they hammered directly on the flooring to engage the tongue-and-groove to save a few minutes. Immediately upon inspection, there were countless obvious defects, including finish chipping off, splits, random size gaps (some over 3/8") between the click together boards, buckling and hollow spots. Most of these issues were caused by directly hammering on the wood and carelessness. Hardly a square foot of the floor could be found that did not have visible damage. When we brought these issues to the attention of the Sales Rep, he used numerous tactics to try to downplay the problems and avoid taking responsibility. He blamed the finish coming off the floors on the manufacturer. Eventually, the salesperson assured us they would go over every inch of floor and correct every problem. He also promised us additional wood to replace what was installed incorrectly. To our dismay, instead of sending professionals, the same crew of amateurs who had caused the problem in the first place showed up. Most of their "repairs" made the floor even worse. We never received any new wood like we were promised, the crew used our extra wood we had paid for and been saving for a kitchen reconfiguration. At one point, when we noticed a newly replaced board lifting out of the floor, we alerted the subcontractor who's comical solution was to have his most overweight man jump on it. When they knew the numerous issues were not resolved yet, HTF kept pestering us for payment until we threw in the towel. We were so worn down by their failure to repair the floor and lackadaisical attitude. We ended up paying High Tech Flooring their original bid and then some for a poorly installed floor we are extremely unhappy with. We regret every day not choosing the reputable low bidder instead of taking a friend's recommendation to use High Tech flooring. We have to take some responsibility for allowing ourselves to be fooled by High Tech Flooring's flashy showroom and deceptive sales practices. The whole experience was traumatic and life altering. High Tech Flooring was the worst contractor we have ever hired. read more

High Tech does the tile and floor work for Brookfield Residential homebuilder. Don't waste your time with either! I bought a house from Brookfield Residential and shortly after moving in we realized that the bathtub in the secondary bathroom did not drain properly and it needed to be replaced so the tile had to be taken down, a new tub put in and the tile redone. Brookfield says it will take several days to get it done so I took a week off work. Day 1 the tile comes down, day 2 the tub comes out. That was 2 months ago and my bathroom is still in that torn up state. It has been issue after issue and Brookfield blames High Tech and High Tech says, "it's not our fault, ma'm." The last guy from High Tech that came out to see what still needed to be done said to me, "I don't see what the big deal is." I guess having a torn up bathroom for over two months in a brand new house is not a big deal to them! The tile work is wretched-the new grout doesn't match the old grout, there are gaps in the grout, the floor tile is rough and uneven. High Tech's suggested solution to this was to throw a rubber cover over the floor to cover it up because otherwise they would have to actually retile the whole floor. They claim this would be "too much work." I guess they just really want your money without actually doing a complete and quality job. Save yourself time and money, ask your builder if they use High Tech and run if they do! read more

My husband and I have wanted new carpet in our old house for more than 12 years. We were very undecided about what type of carpet, what color and the type of padding to put under the carpet. We went to one of the major home improvement stores to start the process, even paying $35 for someone to come out and give us an estimate. We couldn't agree on anything. A friend told us about High Tech and we gave them a call. Ron, one of the consultants, came to our home, looked at what we had and asked us what we were trying to achieve with the new carpet. He was very helpful with color, style, products and getting my husband and I to agree on what we needed. A few days ago our carpet was installed by a professional team and it is amazing! Ok service I ordered some flooring. I sent a pic of the label so no issues would arise. I stop by the next afternoon to see if it is ordered. The salesman had a family emergency and couldn't take care of it. I understand. The order doesn't go out till the next day. The new salesman says it will take 5 days. I don't care for timeline, but what can you do. I call back on day 5 of the order timeline. I called too late in the day, the warehouse has closed. The salesman on day 5 says he will call me when he gets news of my order. Day 6 goes by and no call. Day 7 I decide to visit them. Another salesman says it should be on the showroom floor. It is actually in the warehouse. I go and get it. I get a call from the salesman saying it is ready for pick up. I like the prices. I don't care for the misleading Hi Tech name. It is very low tech. The communication is slow and disjointed. Their tracking system leaves something to be desired. Again I like the prices that is about it. I decided to post because the High-tech review moderators did not like my review that I wrote above so I'm posting for everyone to see. read more

I reluctantly said yes and left Louis a message explaining we are replacing carpet on the entire second floor. Hours go by-- no call. I called again that day and spoke to Louis this time. He did answer my questions. We made an appointment for him to measure the second floor of my home the next day. You can guess what happened next. He didn't show! Didn't return my call either. Hello, my name is Christy Oliver. My husband and I stopped by High Tech Flooring and Design months ago. We were just beginning a huge remodel of a home we had purchased. Upon stopping in, we were fortunate enough to meet an amazing guy named Carlye. In no time at all, we had chosen our hard wood floors (with Carlye's help of course). The flooring was on sale at that time, so we gave them a deposit to order and hold our flooring until it was time for the hardwood floors to be installed. Carlye, is very professional, informative and most importantly HONEST. The installers were equally as great! They worked for two days demoing the old floors in the entire house. By the end of the third day, the new hardwood floors were fully installed. They are AMAZING! We are extremely happy that we stopped by High-Tech Flooring that day. High-Tech Flooring put in the tile in our new build by Trendmaker Homes. Through warranty, they came out to repair tile in the master shower which was raised, cutting our feet because the corners and edges of the tiles stuck up. Their solution was to try and "sand" down all the sharp edges. This was not successful in eliminating sharp edges nor issues with grout lines. They came back and said that they would like to avoid ripping out the tile and having to redo the flooring to correct the issues, and asked if they could first try and remove all the grout in the problem areas, sand down the edges and then put new grout in. I agreed, but only if this method didn't work, that they would then replace the flooring. They agreed. This method was also unsuccessful. The next visit out to the house resulted in a solution of picking a different tile that was pre cut to a smaller size so we wouldn't run into the same issue of sharp edges or tile sides sticking up. I agreed as long as I could pick the new tile for the floor. They came and dropped off several samples of tiles I could pick from. I called them several times to follow up and each time I go the run around with who to talk to, or telling me the person I needed to talk to, was out of the office so we couldn't continue. Finally after several weeks I received word that they no longer were going to replace the tile. That it isn't their problem to do so. So now I am left with the same issue I had before (tile edges cutting our feet and sticking up in random places) as well as extremely uneven tile and grout lines. Their solution to the initially poorly installed tile, which was then made worse by trying the most inexpensive, and also ineffective method resulted in tile floors that still cut our feet, still stick up on edges and now also has uneven grout lines and different sizes tiles where they shaved different edges off. read more

I moved into my new build over 9 months ago and have had continuous issues with the flooring from High-Tech since then that are still not fixed. When they came to replace the initial section of bad flooring, the replacement job was significantly worse with several very easily visible issues. When they came to re-do their bad replacement job, they had ordered the wrong flooring after waiting weeks for the flooring to come in. In between this, there were several times the builder was contacting High-Tech to find out the status only for High-Tech to claim they'd been trying to contact me. I had never received a call/voicemail, but then they would ironically call me that very day that the builder contacted them. This happened several times. With each of these visits, I had scheduled the early morning window stating that I would have to leave by the end of the afternoon to pick up my son. Every time, they have showed up mid-day. When I tell them I have to leave by the end of the afternoon, they state it's not enough time to do the job and leave. Then I have to wait another week for them to return because people have jobs and lives to schedule around in order to be home each time. The next time, the same exact situation occurs arriving too late and stating they don't have enough time and leaving. I have lost count of how many times this has happened in all the months. Most recently, a supervisor accompanied them as requested by the builder. Arriving too late again, I was told they'd come back the next week to replace half of the flooring because there have been so many different problem areas with the original flooring. I was told by the supervisor that it would be a one-day job, and they'd arrive at 9am to ensure enough time before I had to leave. The next week they arrived at 11am only to tell me it was a two-day job and they'd need to leave with the job incomplete but would return early morning and would only have two hours remaining. They arrived the next day at 11am, took 5 hours, only to install WRONG flooring. This is the second time they ordered wrong flooring and then now installed it. I have two different colors of flooring in my living room floor. This doesn't count the damage to the baseboards, walls, and now there is damage on the other half of the floor where they moved my furniture and ripped the floor there. Through this, I have called a few times to speak to a supervisor and am told he'll call me back each time but never does. I requested completely new, better flooring altogether since there are so many affected areas now with poor patch jobs. The supervisor will never return my calls. This has been over 9 months that my floors are still not resolved and are honestly even worse now. read more

My husband and I have wanted to remove our carpet and replace it with wood or vinyl flooring. We opted for vinyl, that looks like wood, since it is more scratch resistant and we have a 70 lb lab. We love the flooring. I will say however, if you have any questions about how you want your floor installed, ask the installer for suggestions, not the salesperson. The salesperson told us we needed to put molding around the bottom on our hearth, the installer said it would look better to grind away some of the brick and then install the flooring. It looks great. Also, the installer will give you a better idea of how to lay your floor, meaning which direction will look best. read more

They installed marble tile for me and 1/3rd of the tile didn't match the pattern. I complained to Amy and she doesn't care about their work or clients. Seems like problems after problems with this place. Was told my tiles arrived but the next day while I was on the way, they told me there was a mistake. Had to turn around and go home. But luckily in came Amy. She arranged for the tiles to be dropped off at my house instead of me driving back again. Also credited me $100.
