It was September 2015 when we first contacted Hi Tech termite when we discovered some dark brown particles on the floor of our master closet space. Then I noticed there were two small holes in the wall about 3 feet above the particles. After searching online, I found out that this was caused by drywood termite. At the time, I thought my only option was to tent the house. I found Hi Tech termite control online and decided to give them a try. They came back with a thorough report and we hired them to treat the drywood termite and subterranean termites in different areas of the house (using microwave and chemicals, no tenting!) Since the treatment, we called back for our yearly free inspection and they take care of applying the chemical if any termite is found. I just had this year's service done today. The technician called 30 mins before and let me know he is on his way (early), very courteous and took care of the termite infected area. I am very happy with how professional this company and its employees are through out the past few years! Definitely recommend! read more

After complaining and a negative yelp review, Hi-Tech Termite came out again and after two more visits, a good job was done. I would not recommend this company to someone who is not prepared to watch them very carefully and make sure they do a good job. I hired this company to treat both subterranean and dry wood termites. The inspector came on schedule and did a thorough inspection. He was also good at answering my questions. Very good experience so far. The guys came to our house to do the final treatment as scheduled too. I am not able to judge the effectiveness since it has been only two weeks. However, they left a few noticeable scratch marks on my floor after they worked in my house. They didn't patch the dry wall either. I was disappointed about that. I recommend you bring protection of the floor if you are concerned since the works don't care in general. You should also inspect the work more thoroughly than I did. read more

I previously considered giving them a 3 star review due to the lack of professionalism from one of the technicians that they sent out to our home. He was reluctant to do a thorough inspection and only really looked at the easy access areas of the house appearing to be killing time and was even observed on his phone midway through the inspection. We were really disappointed. This past week we had an extremely positive experience another technician, Rene, who come out to the property. He was extremely thorough and even checked the hard to reach crawlspaces going the extra mile. He was extremely knowledgeable, respectful, and professional. The inspector was an hour late. All I needed was a simple termite inspection. I clearly don't have a termite problem because my house was recently tented. It clearly became evident this was not a termite inspection but a DRY ROT inspection. Everybody has some dry rot. All I wanted was a termite inspection. I could see where he was headed next He would have me tear off the shakes on my roof etc. They use power of VA you scare you. My advice if want dry rot inspection call this guy. If want to spend more money use them. Want a simple termite report don't use them. read more

We got a pest inspection from them back in August for a house that we were in the process of buying. Today, I saw their truck speeding in the far right lane so that reminded me to write this review. I really don't have anything positive to write about them so let me jump straight to the issues. 1. They were relatively expensive for inspection but we still hired them primarily based on their Yelp rating. 2. After the inspection, the inspector didn't give us any verbal information. He just said "so yeah... everything looks good, we'll submit a quote". We knew from the seller's inspection report that there was around $15K worth of termite treatment and damage repair. 3. The report came late. After urging them to send it quickly because we were under pressure to close on the house, their staff started to get arrogant. 4. The report came just in time but identified "woodboring beetles" and recommended the long version of tenting which would cost almost $3000. After purchasing the house, we got two more inspections and both confirmed that we had no woodboring beetles. The lumber that was used in construction had beetles when it was on the tree. High-Tech's inspector misidentified the pest possibly because he was not experienced enough. 5. High-Tech's report had highlighted that tenting/fumigation for "woodboring beetles" was needed but there was no other mention of this. I called the inspector, who got back to me two days later admitting the mistake in the report. They sent us a new report stating that beetle damage was found. Overall, I think they are not competitively-priced, have inexperienced inspectors who do not conduct a through inspection, and do not communicate well with the customer. Yelp ratings are occasionally deceptive, and Hi-Tech is an example. read more

Completely dishonest. I would not recommend this company to anyone. The service person (Ben ?) came on time which is about the only positive thing I can say. I don't know if it's because I'm a woman but he completely lied to my face about what he found and what he wrote on his report. My house is brick, so there is minimal wood and not much that he had to inspect. I asked him if there was any termite damage, and he said no, "NO TERMITE DAMAGE AT ALL, ONLY WOOD ROT." Imagine my surprise when I got my report and *tada* termite damage is listed on the report. He also added in other things on the report that he felt needed to be fixed, especially roof items. The funny thing is that we just had a roofer come out and some of the things Ben quoted were completely unnecessary. Why lie bro? When I had him get on the phone with my husband, he told him the same thing, NO TERMITE DAMAGE and that he would write up an estimate for all the unnecessary repairs he wanted to do. He started the conversation out with "I will work up an estimate for the work" before he even began to tell my husband about the crap he came up with. Clearly he saw us as a way to make some easy money because he totally padded his report. The last thing that really bothers me is that he wore his dirty boots all over my house. Didn't even bother to put on protective foot covers. My daughter crawls on our floors. He had a complete disregard to our home. I shouldn't have to ask a "professional" to cover his shoes. I don't know how this company is diamond certified and now I know why they have to sell yelp deals to get business. We hired them to do a termite inspection and we got a whole lot of b.s. instead. As a homeowner who has bought, renovated and sold 5 houses, I have dealt with companies (national and local) in the termite inspection business on multiple occasions. I'm writing about Hi-Tech termite because their inspection was the most thorough of any company I have ever used. I contacted their office at the recommendation of a friend because we are both wary of the hard-sell tactics of the big companies but I need more than a guy with a truck. My inspector was on time, ready to do his job and much more detail oriented than the other companies I contacted. The "Orange Oil" guys are short on inspection, big on hype and hard selling to say the least. My inspection lasted about 40 minutes and then we discussed options for about 15 before I was on my way back to work. The proposal I got from Hi-Tech has exactly what I expected - no additional work proposed, the price was just as it had been described and the complete package was in line with the quality of the work they delivered. read more

I had this company did the termite inspection of my house via my real estate agent because I was selling that house and needed an official report, cheaply. (I already know there were no termites from previous report from 4 months ago.) However, not only they did termite inspection, they also used a metal pole and ram into section of roof, and for some reason, the wall as well... just to check for dry rot. Now, I had already done a house inspection a week earlier and know about minor dry rot and so does the buyer, whom he didn't care. But because of the extensive numbers of holes this "inspection" created, The buyer agent had me repair the issue. So I had to more money spend on a house that I was already losing money on. It also I delay my sale for 4 days and I end up also have to paid extra for utilities. Needless to say I will not hire this company again. Beside, I ask for a TERMITE inspection, not a house inspection. And This company was called Hi tech TERMITE control; not poke-a-hole and check for mold and rots. Please stick to your original jobs and not do "extra work" that benefit only your company. read more

First to state I did not use this service, and they probably do a good job from what I see in other reviews. The only purpose of my comments is to say I think their online CHAT session is pretty much a waste of time. I needed a simple terminte inspection for a home refinance. I started a chat on the web site and was asked questions about the size of the home and characteristics. Supposedly someone was going to call me back. I didn't get a call, but got an email for a quote for a smaller home and asking for the same details all over again. It was clear that none of the information was transferred to the correct person from the chat rep. Thus, just a waste of time. At this point I just called it quits. I really dislike repeating tasks unnecessarily. FYI, when to quote did come in (for a smaller home), it was 30% higher than the two other companies I called. Like I said, the services are probably good, but I will never know because the first impression was not positive. We found termites' hole on 3 walls inside our house. I called 5 different pest control companies. One said they'll charge $150.00 just to inspect and give an estimate! The second one never returned the call. The other 3 came and looked around. One of those 3 was Terrence Robinson of Hi Tech and he was the only one who came prepared with an information packet. He was on time, courteous, well-mannered, and knowledgeable. We didn't want to treat the crawl space at this time due to rain and mud, he didn't use scare tactic like others. He said they'll give us 3 years warranty and will come back at no extra charge to treat that area whenever we are ready. The day of inspection he gave us a written bid/agreement. The next day emailed more information. Then he mailed hardcopy of inspection report and after the job was done he sent another hard copy of invoice/statement. They were on time to start the job. They were extremely careful not to make a mess of the house and cleaned up before they left. We recommend them 100%. They are the best! read more

We used this company about 3 months ago and think we have officially solved our termite problem. We knew we had an isolated issue, had a great price quote from these guys, which beat PLANET ORANGE by a long mile and we also felt the value was good with HI-TECH. Professional business, from the appointment to the sales guy to the service guy. All around a great experience. The micro-wave they did, seemed a bit weird and not sure I believe that that process really delivers the same value as the chemicals. But it was part of what was included, so why not get the extra treatment? I think it can't hurt to go at the problem with another layer of intensity. All in all, we are pleased! Was shocked to see how hard it was to find real professionals doing termite extermination and was glad to have found these guys! read more

So we recently closed on a house with existing termites that the seller would not treat. Based on the inspection, there was a limited amount of infestation. Not really a fan of doing fumigation, since it dumps loads of chemicals throughout the house and does not keep the termites out after (although if the infestation is severe, fumigation is good). We were looking for a place that would put in a more lasting solution. Looking through Yelp, found Hi-Tech. Ben came out to the property and actually looked throughout the house and even went into the crawlspace and attic. He was the only one of the companies we contacted to do such a thorough job (the others just did visual inspection outside). Based on his assessment, we went with the Termidor and Tim-bor spray treatment. Its guaranteed for three years with a yearly inspection. As for the actual treatment, Jason came out and did a thorough job. Unfortunately, there was a small accident that required a ceiling patch to fix a small crack. However, Hi-Tech sent Ben back out to examine it and set up a time with a contractor to come out and fix it. All interactions were professional and friendly. I definitely recommend Hi-Tech if you don't need fumigation (which they can do by subcontracting out if you really need it). I'll update this review when the yearly checkup comes around. Tenting a house to kill off termites isn't exactly "hi-tech" (high tech would mean zapping all those suckers out with some futuristic machine), but this is as good as it gets. I called many places to get estimates, and Hi-Tech came in with the most reasonable quote. They pride themselves in customer service and there's a reason they're diamond certified. We had obvious signs of drywood termite on the eaves of our house. Inspector Terrence came to inspect. He first asked where the evidence of termites are, so I showed them to him. Then he did an inspection of the exterior. He was nice and let me follow him around and learn from his findings. He poked his head into the attic and looked around, which is not as thorough as the other companies. For the drywood, he recommended his company's specialty (the microwaving method). He found 2 spots that *potentially* were evidence of subterranean termites (dirt), and recommended that we treat for those as well. The thing is, I met with 3 other termite companies, and all 3 others did not find evidence of subterranean termites. I pointed out the *potential* spots and the other 2 inspectors were "on the fence." So I took the majority opinion and decided to treat the drywood termites only. Note: the free inspection marketed on their website is only if you have evidence of termite. Wish that was specified up front. Unfortunately not everyone can spot the signs of termite problems (think: people with poor eye sight), so that's why inspectors are needed. Furthermore, inspections that were done during the home selling process are oftentimes incomplete because the seller has so much personal stuff in the house that the original, paid inspector couldn't inspect the house in the first place. read more

When we purchased our house, the home inspection report said there was some termite and beetle damage to take care of and we decided to call someone who only focused on that service. Hi Tech came out and did the inspection which was fantastic and actually told us that we didn't need to do the extensive repairs that the inspection report wanted - they were already done, just not cleaned up right! From the termite treatment to the repairs done due to fungus & termites, Hi Tech did an amazing job. They earned our trust by being honest with us and not seeing a new home owner as a way to pad their wallet which is refreshing! The guys who came out and did the inspections & work were professional, friendly and gave you the sense that they were doing the same type of work on your house as they would do on their own. Stunning service. Tim called up at 3:00p for our 4:00p appointment and said that he could get out earlier to our house than anticipated. He inspected our house and fortunately found nothing. I was very impressed by his lack of agenda beyond making sure our house was safe and didn't have termites--he wasn't selling anything. He said he would send me out an inspection report for free, and that I should keep them on file because it established a pattern of care that helps the value of the home. We didn't go w/ them but they are okay. They were 2.5 hours late to the appointment due to a schedule mixed up. The inspector that came out was really nice but he didn't find any additional termites. He did spend close to 2 hours so I knew the actual inspection was pretty detailed WAY better than home guard who spent 45min and did not go under the crawl space. The price was GREAT and they offered 3 year warranty which was also great. However we didn't go w/ them because Planet Orange was able to find additional termites like I have suspected all along. So we decided to go w/ them. However I felt the overall service was good. Warranty period and prices were fantastic. I still recommended it but just get like 3 bids and weigh out the pros and cons of each. read more

I saw dozen of dead flying ants caught in a spider web on a door window. I called 3 termite companies for inspections, a national chain and 2 Bay Area companies one of which was Hi-Tech. The conclusion was I had subterrranean and drywood termites. The national chain failed to identify the drywood termite. Hi-Tech has treatment and damage repair service while the other Bay Area company offers treatment only and no repair, so I chose Hi-Tech. I found these guys knowledgeable, courteous and take good care of customers. Their repair crew was particularly notable. Not only were they skillful and meticulous, they provided the best customer care. To repair the termite damage, the stucco front of my house was basically entirely demolished in mid December 2022. Before the new stucco could be applied, the wettest rainy season in 30 years hit. I was worried being in a wooden house wrapped in plastic sheet during the storms. The repair crew came during/soon after the storms to make sure everything was fine. This was truly beyond my expectation of what a contractor would do. It was quite easy to schedule an appointment. I assumed the inspector would arrive at 2pm but what the lady on the phone meant was that the inspector would arrive between 2-3pm. No big deal. The lady on the phone was pretty clear on whether or not they charge for inspection - I can't recall all the scenarios now, but in our case, it was free for us since we had an old inspection report. Just make sure you inquire before hand. INSPECTION Terrence arrived at around 2:30p. He has read our old report before hand and had thought we just need a quote for the work specified. I think there might have been a miscommunication between him and the lady on the phone. So I explained my concern for basing the quote off the 4 year old termite report and asked him to inspect the whole house if he has time. He cordially agreed and spent about 1.5 hours examine the house thoroughly. We probably could have gotten away with local treatments except for one area where a lot of drilling would need to take place since it's unclear how far things have gone. Unfortunately, fumigation would be our best bet unless we want our remodeled bath get all banged up. Terrence said he would provide us with two quotes - one with local treatments and one with fumigation. Both options come with a 3 year warranty. This review is overdue. I had a very positive experience with this company. I requested a consult through Yelp and Jeff replied within the hour. He recommended that I call for an inspection as soon as possible. Steven came to perform the inspection and was very through. He explained our options and I called to schedule my treatment the next business day. David was the tech who came to our home. He called ahead to let us know when to expect him and he was on time. Not usually the norm these days. David finished everything within 1.5 hrs. Thankfully, there were no additional areas to treat. Unfortunately, I got termites. It was in the upstair portion of our house. They inspector came for a FREE inspection was really nice and professional. They were really detail oriented. He even climbed under my house and into the nasty attic full of rats. I was surprised that he did that, but he did. Of course, at the time I did not know I had rats as well as termites. 3 days later the guy came to microwave the termites. The chinese guy who came was really nice and even put up with my dad and his a million questions about termites and where the evolve etc. He showed me everything he had done and explained everything he did to the house. Basically, the drilled holes into the walls and then use their fancy machine to push the termadore into the attic. That is about all I could tell you about the procedure. But so far no termites and it has been 4 days already. I have not found any droppings yet. The guy was also on time and was even early. Very professional. read more

This review is only for the inspection process. We have not hired Hi-Tech (or anyone else yet for the treatment required). Scheduling was relatively easy. The girl I spoke to on the phone wasn't particularly amazing, but nice enough and also called back to confirm my appointment the day before. The inspector (Jim) was extremely professional, tolerated my misbehaving dogs, and did a thorough inspection around the perimeter and crawl space. He wore protective booties while in the house, and was conscientious about getting in/out of the crawl space. He gave me straight forward information about the current problems and solutions available. He was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. I have no comparison for costs, but the professional attitude was greatly appreciated and I will update this review if we decide to hire Hi-Tech for the treatment. read more

I live in a house with past termite damage and a past comprehensive chemical treatment. After seeing swarming termites on the roof I called for an inspection. Hi tech did a good inspection, showed and shared knowledge, and concluded there was no evidence of an active interior infestation. That's rare in the termite world. Usually these companies seem to figure if you have a house and money, you need termite chemicals and a service plan. The guy from the "big name" company did exactly that the day before. When I do have a need, I'll consider Hi-Tech first. read more

We had a drywood termite problem, the extent of which was only apparent after the inspector did a search of our attic. It's a really cramped space that I'm personally unable to navigate, and I've had other contractors refuse to enter it. But the people from Hi Tech Termite Control were able to inspect, treat, and now (a year later) re-inspect thoroughly. We're still termite-free! Hi Tech Termite just completed a treatment for us for subterranean termites. Everyone we worked with at this company has been outstanding: professional, competent, responsive. Jeff helped identify the problem based on pictures I sent him. Bernadette scheduled an inspection for the next day. Ben came at the scheduled time and did a very thorough inspection of all the spaces. He then explained very clearly his findings and answered all our questions. A few days later he answered our follow up questions. Anita in the office scheduled the actual treatment, working with our availability. Mike and Mike came at the scheduled time (to the minute!) and explained what they were going to do, walking with us around the perimeter. Once they completed the work we did another walk around. They also told us - several times:) - that the contract includes periodic re-inspections and that we should be sure to take advantage of that. We just want to extend our sincere appreciation to Jim w/ HTTC for his professionalism, knowledge and integrity. HTTC did our initial pest control work almost 4 years ago and we were very pleased with the results. Since we are planning on having some construction work done on our home, we were advised by the contractors to have a new pest and dry rot inspection completed prior to beginning the work. Jim, one of HTTC's seasoned inspectors, visited our home yesterday and informed us that such an extensive inspection would ONLY be needed if we were planning to sell our home within the next 3 months. He patiently explained the rationale for this, reassured us that the pest & dry rot treatment that HTTC did 4 years ago was still good and that the planned construction work could proceed without a new pest inspection report. In the end, he did not charge us for his visit---thereby saving us money AND helping us to make a more informed decision as we move forward.
