HiTech Termite Control is great! The inspector Miguel was very thorough, looking indoors (including our attic) and outdoors for signs of termites. He caught signs of subterranean termites that our home inspection missed when we purchased the property. He explained everything to us and answered all our questions. The inspection was free. The rates for treatment were reasonable, and we scheduled it during the inspection. Fortunately the termite infestations were at an early stage so we did not have to fumigate, it was all locally treated. The crew arrived on time and it took about 3 hours to treat everything. There's a 3 year warranty that includes free annual inspections, so we are planning to get our free inspection annually to ensure no termites come back. read more

We have used Hi-Tech years ago, and were very satisfied. We contacted Hi-Tech when we recently noticed sawdust collecting in our sun-room. After a quick chat, and a quick picture of the sawdust, Hi-Tech quickly responded and advised that it's not termites, but carpenter ants or bees, and that we needed general pest control instead. OUTSTANDING SERVICE I just had excellent termite service by Cory at Hi Tech Termite Control. I previously had been using a big name Termite company with whom I had a service contract for about 25 years. Over the years, I noticed their service became less thorough. On their latest quick 20 minute inspection of a 4,000 square foot house they found no termites. I knew of one infestation that was easy to see and was amazed the big name company missed it. A visit to Yelp told me my termite service company was one of the lowest rated in San Diego. I contacted Hi Tech because of their high Yelp rating. Steve came out an found a couple of termite infestations. We cancelled our previous contract and had Hi Tech come out to kill the termites. Cory has just spent the day meticulously treating the various termite infestations with both chemicals and microwave. He also sprayed our attic with borate to guard against future infestations. I am a scientist and I was impressed with Cory's attention to detail, the care he took to keep our home clean, and his patience and knowledge answering my many questions. Hi Tech's service is far and away better, more through, and more knowledgeable than the big name Termite company ever was. The lady who answered the call told me not to worry because the termites always swarm on the lights around this time. She said she does not want me to pay for something I don't need. This company drilled holes into our main water pipe! They are refusing to accept responsibility and to pay for the repairs of the damage they caused. We have hired an attorney and following up to have their insurance pay for the problem they caused. The worker they sent is inexperienced and has only been on the job less than 3 months. We set an appointment for them to inspect for termites and give us an estimate for renting. Our renter gave his permission and vacated the house. My wife took off work and waited at the house. And no one showed up. When I called to find out what had happened it took Winnie a while to find me in the system and then she told me our appointment had been cancelled. We have a slate roof which rules out fumigation so I went with Hi-Tech because they specialize in local treatment. Miguel was our inspector and then Tyrone, Rene and Steve came out to do the treatment. The guys are professionals, very knowledgeable and very nice. Two things that they did that were outstanding: 1) they helped me remove some dead mice in the crawl space for no extra charge and 2) they came back for a second treatment visit to spray my attic to help me keep my carpets clean. This is an A+ business. When I first called them years ago they came out pretty fast. Had a very nice man explain everything to me in detail and sent out a crew to fumigate. I haven't seen a bug since. Like i said that was years ago. I called to see about a recheck. I lost all my paper work but all i had to do was call. She was amazing... with out the interrogation of information (like most other businesses) she was already looking up my paper work and told me yes you are due for a reinspect and set it up within a few days. Avoid them at all cost. I needed a termite inspection fo a refi. My mistake was hiring them. They found issues that were nonexistent and fixed things that they reported hadn't been repaired. It was like the right hand not knowing what the left was doing. In the end I had the have to report they sent to the mortgage folk revised. Have them reinspect. And pay dearly for the aggravation. I was very satisfied, I agree with all the positive reviews. I gave it a 4 only because of one thing I didn't realize and the team did not mention. There were several areas where drilling down to put the chemicals in was not viable: one area had tall grass against the house, and the other area was immediately adjacent to a french drain (I am not sure they understood what a french drain is; it seemed that they didn't want to hit anything--I appreciate the caution, but there is nothing to hit there.) I never informed them that I was striving to keep our soil organic, and they never informed me that there would be surface spraying. They were very thorough explaining things to me, but somehow that lack of communication happened anyway. Everything else was excellent, and I appreciated very much that they came out on a rainy day for us! read more

We contacted Hi Tech for an estimate on repairing dry rot damage under our back door on the framing, sill and subfloor. The inspection for the estimate was free and the inspector, Ben, was very thorough, courteous and clear-spoken. He even went into the crawl space under the house to inspect the damage to the sub-floor, which no other inspector from the other companies offered to do. An estimate was provided the next day and the work was done the following week. Jose, the technician who did the work was also very thorough and professional. He obviously took great pride in his work, explained everything he was planning on doing and went beyond what we expected. He had an assistant join him on two of the three days of the job who was also very professional and friendly. There were a couple of supplemental change orders for repairing damage that could only be discovered as the removal of the damaged wood proceeded, but the added charges were reasonable and the reasons clearly explained. The job site was cleaned up each day and at the end of the work, with all debris hauled away. Overall, we were extremely satisfied and would recommend this company. read more

Really was impressed with the professionalism of Jim Mortensen who did a thorough job of inspection and found more infested spots than the previous inspectors. Not only that, he took the time to explain and show me how to detect the termites. I actually had a inspector say he only could give me a 30 mins inspection or he would charge me! The only problem was I did not use Hi Tech Control for my work because they did not offer construction work for the damaged areas. Sadly I gave up trying to get a general contractor to do repair work after a month of leaving messages and calling and ended up with another Termite company because they could the repairs that were also needed. read more

With regard to a rented house in Berkeley and the tenant noticed some termite activity on August 2019. I called two highly reviewed termite companies in the area TimeUP Termite and Hi Tech Termite for the inspection and bid for termite control job. Inspector Benjamin Ortiz of Hi Tech Termite did a thoroughly checking of all the areas; determined that it is the subterranean termite problem and proposed a treatment that included a complete spraying in the crawlspace, laundry room and kitchen areas; And complete treatment of the outside of the house that included drilling / and injecting chemical in various masonry areas and trenching and spraying chemical in other areas around the external foundation of the house. On the day of treatment Mike T and another member did a high quality job in a professional manner; Hi Tech Termite bid price is much more reasonable than the other company. The termite control job is guaranteed for three years, and the bid price including subsequent annual inspection. Customer can also buy yearly insurance after the third year. These guys and gals are Gods. House for sale, get termite inspection, house goes into escrow, termite company can only do "some" repairs leaving me to hunt for other contractors. Then I realize other termite inspector missed stuff, like dry rot wood under a window that was in plain sight. So I go to Hi-Tech. They found a third more issues than original company. They could repair everything. They could do the treatment without tenting and my having to pay for hotel rooms for two days (I have renters and a cat). Their bid indicated they understood the repair issues a LOT better than the original company. Their repairs included things not a part of the other termite company's bid like sealing the tile grout and the porch. Realizing I had a short time to closing, they got their people out and got it done a week early. I will be using one of their sister companies in San Diego for work on my house down there. I highly recommend HiTech Termite Control. They were my choice initially because they use Timor, a natural borate compound. It is a wood preservative that works as an insecticide and fungicide. Having used them twice since August 2003 and again in 2011 for preventative maintenance spraying, they continue to be my number one choice. Both times they did a preventative spraying of Timbor in both my subfloor and attic for my home Danville. Health-wise, I feel safer living in a house sprayed with Timbor in the subfloor and attic than the other popular advertised chemicals. Their service is excellent. I really appreciate the efficiency and the good detail work this company does. They employ good workers to get the job done professionally. The team that came to repair the termite damaged areas were very detailed with their measurements and cutting, painting. They were friendly and worked very hard. If you want to rid of your termites and afterwards need to get repairs done that the termites left damage these are the guys to call, I also appreciate their "local" termite treatment methods and no tenting required. They thoroughly explain everything they do and give a free estimate. Also they throw in a little discount as necessary!! They also answered my concerned about many cracks in my stucco and told me they can have someone come out and give me an estimate!! So I'll have one side of my house re-stuccoed which I didn't even realize can be done as an option compared to having siding installed (much more expensive) An honest and thorough company. Contacted Hi Tech Termite for my home and am pleased with how everything worked out. Benjamin was great and swift about answering my questions even though my Fiancé was home during the inspection. Had multiple quotes and Hi Tech won the bid with their warranty and pricing. The only issue/annoyance I had was with the schedule technicians that were scheduled to be at my home at 9am today. They arrived roughly 9:30am and that bothers me a lot (30 min late). I had to call their office again while I was at work just to confirm if they were still coming. Leilani (phone and emails) was fantastic at coordinating that and making sure the technicians were still arriving, but I would assume if they were going to be late, a heads up/quick phone call to the owner/person hiring your team would be greatly appreciated. It isnt easy coordinating someone to be at home for the treatment, especially when all options we were given were only at 9am, just on different days. Whenever I hire a company to do work I hope they value my time as much as I value theirs. Its like a mutual respect towards each other. We did dry wood termite fumigation last December through Hi Tech Termite Control. Within two months later I started noticing termite droppings in same spot and then I called the company and they did local treatment. And within 3 months I noticed termite dropping in same spot. Me and my family were really frustrated on them. They came for annual inspection and they noticed different termite spot and they said company will call for appointment for local treatment and it's been couple of weeks till now no one called me for appointment or local treatment. We are really mad with the company and I will recommend Anyone not to go to this company. I want my money back I paid so I can go to different company. read more

So I'm refinancing my home and needed a pest inspection quickly. I saw online they could do the inspection and get the report back to me within 24 hours. I called and got a same day appointment and the Tech-Miguel was even earlier than the appointment. (That was a good thing) He was nice, professional and clean but he assumed it was ok to walk on my carpet with his shoes---which was not ok. Everything went well with the inspection. Fast forward 24 hours later- NO PEST INSPECTION REPORT and some BS excuse from LUCY, who was extremely rude. I eventually got it 48 hours later without any concession on the price at all. After all it's their website that says they will inspect and issue the report in 24 hours. Fast forward 1 week( Maybe more. I've lost track)- The technician forgets to sign the report and now I'm waiting for something that should have been done the first time. SMH And again no concession on their charge when they don't live up to their own promise and more excuses from the girl who answered the phone. Just own your mistakes, apologize and offer some kind of concession. That's called CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! It's not like I hacked their website to add that verbiage in. I have no issues with the work done, but the customer service aspect and the fact that I have to keep calling for them to get this right is unacceptable. read more

We were so impressed by this company. We had another company check the house and give us an estimate but we wanted another offer before we go ahead with their suggestions. Liked the reviews I saw on Yelp, so we called and scheduled an inspection. Jim arrived on time and preformed a thorough inspection of the house, including the crawl space and attic. He was very patient and explained in details his findings. We also received a written report. Hi Tech Termite Control gave us the impression that they are highly professional and fair. We decided to go with their recommendations and scheduled a local treatment to deal with the infected area. I will recommend to my friends to call them if they ever suspect they have termites. read more

[Updates] After I posed review on yelp, hi-tech termite emailed me that ""If you provide the tiles, I will provide the labor to install them (up to 50 tiles). If you have extra stored somewhere, then it won't cost you a dime". I agreed because I thought there were about 10~30 roof clay tiles broken. In fact, I gave the lower estimate because I didn't climb on roof to count and just looked from yard ground. They sent their workers for installing new tiles then told me there were much more tiles broken during fumigation. So I bought more clay tiles and they came again. Finally, there were over 80 pieces roof clay tiles broken during fumigation, I paid over $400 for purchasing the tiles. I felt I paid too much so asked $200 for reimburse. But they thought I changed the agreement and refused. I argued that all agreements were based on minimal damages of roof and now major damages found. They still refused. I am not happy, but anyway thanks for their workers' help to install the tiles. [Original post on Sept. 2015] Just warning: if you want fumigation service but also want to protect your roof please don't ask this company. In August 2015, they did fumigation and sub-termite control services for my house. Their free inspection was good and the inspector worked hard. However, they hired unprofessional people to do the fumigation (climbing on your roof and cover the whole house and release gas to kill pest). Before the fumigation, they asked you to sign a form to waive their responsibility if the roof was damaged during fumigation and they told you that they would do their utmost to ensure damage is kept to a minimum. Unfortunately, the fume person was not professional and didn't prepare any material such as a board on the roof to protect your tiles. He just stepped on the clay tiles and broke the tiles, then told you that your tiles were so fragile. After fumigation, many clay tiles on my roof (at least 10 pieces) were broken. They said they would minimize the damage in the waiver form but during working they didn't. In a word, because you signed the waiver form, it looked like they did not care how many tiles were damaged on customer's roof. read more

I cancelled my service purely because of her and not sure how many more customers this company may be losing thanks to her behavior. UPDATE: In response to your reply - Yes, thanks for giving additional discount. Just so you know, Bernadette initially setup time to do the treatment on Nov 9th and no one showed up. So what should I say about that? Should I charge you fees for not showing up even after taking a day off to wait for you. No call no update. I called back after two weeks to find out what happened and spoke to Anita who is a lot more customer focused. I did tell her there could be a potential to change the scheduling as I suspected due to my work and she did not mention any additional fees due to schedule changes etc., This is not about your company's treatment service, it is about your customer facing people and how they interact with customers. Customer service is the entire package - front office people, specialists who treat houses, after care - everything. Show respect and gain respect. Despite great people like Jim who inspected my house and Anita who works very closely with customers, you still have a few who need training. read more

We got termite tenting done with them. It was all good till the actual tenting happened. First things first- they don't do the work themselves but outsource it to someone else. No problem with that - except the tenting didnot happen on the day hi tech said it would. In fact it didnot happen on the next day till after 6 pm. We left out keys for the company and imagine being on a vacation and dealing with the stress of the home key being outside and work isn't going to happen when you have packed all the food and spent hours doing that. The two stars are for the quality of service they have given before and after the tenting. But the process itself was so stressful - I had to have 15-25 calls on my vacation to get an update on when the tenting was actually happening. Very very frustrating experience and would not want anybody else to go through this. They were apologetic whilaccepting the payment, but that can't really help with any of the stress that I dealt with and I have a yearly inspection from them - so will update this review again. The owner John contacted me and explained the problem. It seems like there was a disconnect between the phone conversation and the actual paperwork. I am updating the review to three stars because he actually took the time and effort to get to the bottom of it. Not giving it more stars because it would have been nicer if someone would have just told me that on my first call from the vacation instead of waiting this long. Also they picked the subcontractor tenting company - so this review reflects part of their negligence as well. read more

I decided to write this review one year after our treatment was done. Our original field representative was Miguel and he did a very thorough job of inspecting our home. We had very noticeable damp wood and subterranean termite infestation. We chose them out of several others since they were the most thorough, they seemed very honest and their cost was very reasonable. They came on time and got the job done. A year later our termite problems have been resolved, I have not noticed any issues with termites. I called them again recently to have an inspector come out to check our home and they came out promptly and were very professional. The field representative that came out was Paul.
