Got tented for termites. We looked at orange oil treatment, but it only kills the termites where it is injected into the wood, and even then doesn't get all of the local termites. So we went with fumigation, which gets 100% of the termites within the tented space (house, decks, ec.). The process took 3 days. On day 1 they installed the tent and began the fumigation, an injection of Vikane gas with tear gas (Vikane is odorless, colorless, and deadly, so tear gas is used to make you aware of the presence of gas in the unlikely case that you enter the house while the gas is still there). On day 2, they fumigated, and on day 3 they removed the tenting and cleared the house for human occupation. For fumigation, food and medicine must be double bagged in special plastic bags they provide, or removed from the house. This includes the refrigerator and freezer. Sealed bottles and cans can stay. When we returned on day 3, there was a notice that the house had been cleared for occupancy at 8:30 am. We went right in, and noticed no residual problems. The gas line to the house must be turned off during the fumigation. PG&E came and physically disconnected the gas line, taking the gas meter. We scheduled them to return on day 3 to reconnect the meter and open the gas line. They do this, light pilot lights (water heater and whatever) and inspect the gas consuming devices. PG&E does not charge for this service. Two days after fumigation, HiTech returned to spray a chemical on exposed wood in the attic, crawl space, and garage to prevent future infestation. The workman said there was no danger from the chemical spray, but there would be an odor, lasting through the remainder of the day. They were correct. The odor was unpleasant but not overpowering. HiTech provides a 3 year warranty, that includes annual inspections, and on-call service if we see any problems. The actual tenting and fumigation was contacted to Mega Fume. All-in-all this was as advertised. The people were pleasant to deal with, the price was competitive (the lower of 2 bids), and we hope that the termites don't return. read more

My experience with HiTech has been outstanding. My realtor used Specialty Inspection in Pleasanton. Specialty found no termite and only dry rot. They wanted over $14k to do the work. Hi Tech only charged $5k to do the work. Since my realtor was not informed to put in the sales contract that Specialty did not have to reinspect the work, Hi Tech and I were at the mercy of Specialty on their reinspection. Jonathan Van Hoy did the inspections. After Hi Tech replaced the dry rotted wood and patched the smaller dry rot areas, Jonathan came back and created dents in the new wood and those areas repaired. Hi Tech had to redo the work caused by Jonathan twice. Jonathan is unethical and I will file a complaint against him. Hi Tech redid the repairs without charging extra. That is why Hi Tech is Diamond Certified and Specialty is not. read more

Jim came out to check a door frame that had rotted though, on the exterior of the house, with suspicious-looking wood. We had concerns that termites entered. After poking around the area and looking for traces of termite waste and other evidence, he indicated it is unlikely to be a termite problem, especially given the other info we relayed about the age of the house and when it was last tented 10 years ago. He did a quick walk-around outside, and recommended not to worry about termites for a few more years, but rather tent the whole house every 15 years or so as more effective. He explained that vicane is still the preferred approach, and he mentioned a few other ideas to tackle at that time, like the foundation. We appreciated that diagnosis to do nothing now, zero sales pitch to use their services or undertake a more involved paid inspection. There was no charge for this visit. To boot, he offered some friendly suggestions to save money on the door repair, good ideas we hadn't thought of. It was all so helpful and informative. We're left with the impression that they are straightforward, informative, genuinely desiring to be helpful, without a trace of sales-yness. I am in contract buying a house & hire this company for termite inspection. I paid them in advance by applying Yelp 50% discount . Looks like a decent deal. The guy came & said he was too big to get into the crawl space to check the foundation. The report came out with extremely low estimation, compared to the termite report from seller side. Main reason is due to the un-inspected crawl space! & I have no time to hire people to do another inspection since we have to remove the inspection contingency per contract. Also, for the area that has been inspected, the "termite kill" quote is much lower than the price quote from seller side inspector. I lost the chance to fully inspect the whole property for termite & we have to take risk if anything big happened in wood parts in foundation/craw space area. Now I understand why their inspection charge is so low.... So with 50% off , I really didn't save 50% but lost the other 50%! An even bigger loss is time & chance to do another inspection... Not recommended, especially for buyer side! read more

Hi Tech Termite is an absolute amazing company & one I will definitely be recommending to everyone. Everyone I talked to from the moment I scheduled my inspection to the inspector who came out all the way down to the technicians who treated my home was OUTSTANDING! Although this company is located in Hayward they had no problem coming San Francisco. I was also lucky enough that the lady I spoke to from the office just happened to squeeze me in for an inspection the next morning. She assured me that I was going to get quality work as they have been Diamond Certified for the past 13 years so I felt a sort of calmness for someone with a huge termite problem. This feeling definitely lasted when the gentlemen came out to inspect my home. I could definitely see that quality work will be provided by Hi Tech just but the dedication that the inspector put in to checking every Corner of my home including my crawl space & attic. When it was complete he also took the time to go over exactly what he saw & what he believes was the best treatment option. Thankfully he did not push for tenting & instead I decided to go with a local treatment that I was able to book while he was there with me. I was also given his direct cellphone number to contact him with any further questions I had. Luckily for me Hi Tech was able to come out & treat my home a few days later. When the gentleman arrived for my treatment he took me on a walk thru about the treatment he was going to do & the chemicals he came with. This again put my mind at ease as I am a mother of young children so knowing this made it so much better. This company is amazing & I would highly recommend them every time! Update... We put our house up for sale, and the inspection company found some termites. We called Hi Tech, because we thought we were still under the 3 year warranty. Sure enough we were. They were so helpful, sent someone out right away, treated the area. Now... The buyers decide they want the house fumigated. Hi Tech stepped up to the plate AGAIN! Gave us a very reasonable bid, made us happy, AND gave the new owners an additional 3 year warranty. You cannot find customer service like this! When we purchase our new home, we will continue to use HiTech. Our son is in real estate, and we will encourage him to refer his clients to HiTech. Great Job! Thanks HiTech:) read more

We really questioned the quality of this inspection and the costs they estimated. They gave us an estimate of ~ $7k with no photos, proof or explanations. When our realtor questioned the report, they sent their realtor "relative" here to take pictures (which we never saw) and then said the estimate was really $3500 for work and $3500 for scaffolding - which is absurd! We had a second inspection company come out and perform a thorough inspection with pictures/proof of minor work to be performed and completed the work for a fraction of this cost! My house had termites and needed to be fumigated. I chose Hi-Tech Termite to do the fumigation because they offered a 3 year warranty. Recently, I noticed what I thought might be new termite damage. Hi-Tech sent out an inspector who barely looked at the house... The reason he gave was that there was no way to tell if it was new damage or old damage (from before the fumigation). This upset me enough that I posted a bad review (this was about a week ago). But it seems that my experience (and original poor review) was due to a single employee who wasn't really doing his job. Hi-Tech Termite came back and re-inspected (this time very thoroughly). They found some areas with termite damage, but said that it didn't look like there were any active infestations. Under warranty, they said they'd come back and re-inspect in 6 months - this will enable them to see if there is any new damage or evidence of a re-infestation. Anyway, overall Hi-Tech Termite has been very professional - but like any business, they may have the occasional below-average employee. read more

Referred to them through Homeadvisor. Made a free appointment to have them look at my dry rot problem. Miguel showed up on time and was very professional. Since I was looking to have the work done right away, he told me that I would be better off getting a contractor to take care of it, since they were booked a month and half out before they could actually get to it. I had Miguel to inspect my house.. he was very on time and then spotted the issue I had, without me telling him anything. After the complete home inspection, including the attic... he explained to me that I have certain areas with termites , and this is how they behave and what to expect.. I was very impressed with him . All said and done, he prefered to do spot treatments rather than putting up a tent on my house, very honest. Knowing the scope of my problem, I decided to treat it myself.. and I told them this and offered to compensate for their work inspecting my house... they emailed back saying it is no problem, no charges !! This is a bit overdue but, big thumbs up to Hi-Tech Termite! At the time I just purchased my new home and these guys made this part of the process very easy on me. I initially talked to Bernadette, who was very polite and set up an inspection with me last minute for a Saturday and told me Steven would be coming out. He was very thorough and well informed. He did say Hi-Tech offered fumigation and local treatments which I liked because I was able to get an unbiased opinion on what treatment to do. (Unlike the other company). So I did end up going with a local teatment being they do specialize in it. On the day of treatment Rene came out shook my hand then proceeded to walk me through the process of what he was going to do. He even took pictures of the areas under the house where he treated for me! I have to say everyone I came in contact with was very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. We found what we thought may be termites in our attic. Obviously we were concerned about it, so we gave them a call. They were able to come out within a few days and identified it as Silverfish. Ben called a bit before that he could come early, but we weren't able to so we came at the normal time, still very nice to have the offer. He was extremely professional and friendly and looked at the area of concern. He also looked at an area of wood that was damaged and suggested it was most likely just milled that way so no reason for concern. The free cursory inspection was awesome and gave us a tremendous sense of relief. If we do have signs of termites in the future they will most certainly be our first call. read more

Hi Tech saves the day once again! My aunt thought she may have termites and called a company that uses orange oil to get an inspection. The inspector came out and yes there was termite activity present. Then she received the bid for treatment almost fainted! She said the inspector did explain where the termites were located but failed to check the crawl space under her house nor did he check the attic. My aunt called me and was hysterical about the cost of the treatment as she didn't know how she would be able to afford it. Since Hi Tech has been great to me and my client's I figured why not my aunt. I called the office and got an inspection scheduled within a few days. Ben came out and completed a thorough inspection (including the crawl space and the attic). I didn't arrive until after the inspection had been completed but Ben took both my aunt and myself around the property showing us each area with termite activity. He also reviewed the inspection report from the other company and found that there was no evidence of termite activity in a few of the areas that were cited by the previous inspector. He showed us those areas too! The report was emailed to me the next day and the price was very affordable and included a three year warranty! YES!!!!!!!!!! My neighbor knocked on my door and said he saw termites fly under my front porch. The first thing I did was go to Yelp and check the reviews. Hi -Tech was highly recommended so I gave them a call. The gentleman that came to my door the next day was polite and knowledgeable. He checked everything and told me the problem was in deed at the porch. The price was fair for the amount of work that was performed. They even drilled 1/2 holes in the carport floor next to my mobile home so they could treat the dirt in that area. I opted for the 3 yr plan. It was a little more money, but they will come back next year and if there are termites, they spray for free. A lot to be said for peace of mind. This review is for appointment scheduling and inspection. After a swarm of dead termites appeared in my house overnight, I knew I had to get a termite inspector out ASAP. I called Hi-Tech Termite and they were able to get me a next day appointment. The day of the appointment, the inspector (his name was Ben Ortiz) called me about an hour and half before the appointment and asked if he can come early. Of course he can! He was thorough, pleasant, and tolerated my cat and dog. He quickly found the source of the termite infestation and recommended a treatment plan. I have not yet hired them, or any other termite company yet. Just waiting on some comparison quotes to make a decision. I would definitely recommend them to come out and inspect if you see or suspect you have termites. The customer service was excellent. I will update this review if I decide to hire them. read more

I wouldn't really think I could find termite guys awesome but these guys are. And I do! So yes, their prices were the best and that's why we chose them but their customer service was great, too, and has been great ever from the beginning and even now a year later. We had to have them come out a few months after our tenting to "spot treat" and they were great (as opposed to my normal experience of paying someone when hey've finished a job and then never hearing from them again). We just called them out again and this time the owner actually came out and it turned out it was a false alarm. The reason they get the "awesome" tag is because while he was here he spent another 20 minutes helping us figure out our super annoying ant problem. So nice! I'm writing this a year after they treated my home of termites to make sure they are done the job. Veteran Paul came out to reinspect and I couldn't believe how through he was. He climbed in the attic and under the house and spent quite a bit of time thoughout the entire house, inside and out spotting water issues not related to termites (for the moment). I wondered why they didn't do this initially, but I'm very glad he did it now. Five stars for Paul! Minus 1 star for not doing this initially. But I ultimately they did totally resolve the issue, so I'm extremely satisfied and add that star. Boy, I feel powerful. read more

Ben was a very thorough with his inspection and answered all of our questions. He also provided us with different options with his estimate which we received the next day. Hi-Tech is Great and I highly recommend using them! We didn't use them BUT let me explain why. We recently purchased a house. Before we close the escrow, we had another company that did the inspection and no termites were found. A month after we moved in we found termites in our master bedroom. Yes, a termite dropped down from the ceiling... Since this is our first home, we weren't sure who is responsible and what we need to do. We called the original company to come out and take a look. The original company came out, took a look and determine that it is subterranean termite. I ask him if there is some kind of guarantee or insurance for not finding termites before we bought the house. He said he'll check with the company and call me the next day. I didn't hear from him the next day but got an email with the quote. Wasn't too happy that I have to pay for it. Thinking since I have to pay for it, at least I'll shop around and see who has the best deal. I called few other companies to come out and give me with some quotes. One company came out, did the inspection and gave me a quote. Another company did the same but gave some good advise and told me that I should go back to the original company and work it out with them since they missed it. Then comes Hi-Tech! Ben was the inspector. He arrived earlier than the appointment time so that was good. He came to the house, I explain to him about our situation and what other companies have find and pointed out the places that has termite. He reinspected the area again and agree that this is definitely damages cause by the termites He said I don't need a quote from him because he wants to help us save money. He said the original company should be liable to fix it since they miss it during their inspection. He told me exactly what I need to do and how I can file a complaint with Structural Pest Control if they won't fix for free. The previous company was helpful to tell me to go back and work it out with the original company but Ben took the time and explain to me my rights. That's what I did and the owner of original termite company now agrees to treat the termites AND repair the damaged woods for free! So big applause to Ben! he helped us save over $4,000+. I would definitely use them the next time I need to an inspection! I also appreciate the original company for being responsible for the part that they miss. read more

I recently called out and was with the hi tech inspector as he did additional treatment to my deck and a few others. His level of patience and completeness with the work was very assuring. As a professional Realtor, I consider all aspects of third party vendors: courteousness, respect, honesty, responsiveness, and pricing. I've been working with Hi-Tech for the past two plus years on my transactions for my clients. Overall, I am very pleased with their work. From my experience, when another termite company tried to conjure up additional work (i.e.- bogus, inflated charges), Hi-Tech came out to re-inspect (while the other company didn't bother to show up) and showed us the integrity of the wood (an old water spot on the roof eave does not necessarily constitute damaged wood). Comparing Hi-Tech's prices to fix Section One items (damaged wood or infestations) versus other vendor's prices, I find that Hi-Tech is consistently less expensive; sometimes significantly less expensive. I've searched online for a termite inspector for days (for VA refinancing) trying to find one who can do the inspection without trying to rip me off with the services they offer. I was able to book an appointment the next day and I even got 50% off due to a discount at Yelp. Jeff, who flew from Orange County to help out, was wonderful and so professional. He explained to me what he's doing & what he's looking for. He didn't find any termite damages but he found some damages to the wood that frame the windows and stairs to the in-law unit (due to water/fungus). Hi Tech helped us out in a tough situation. We were under a difficult timeline to finish a brace & bolt job, when another contractor found significant dry rot under our house. Great Service! I was referred to Hi-Tech by my Real Estate Agent, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the service. We needed an inspection on a home we are purchasing, and we needed it right away. Hi tech termite is a great company and my inspector Jim was available after typical business hours to answer all of my questions and very thorough in his responses. The office staff was very quick to respond to my inquiries as well. I received quotes from 3 other companies and only Hi Tech did a thorough inspection of my home. There was termite pellets by a window sill that I found myself, but what if there was more signs of termites elsewhere that I could not find on my own? I was shocked the other companies only spent a few minutes at my property and Hi tech spent around 2 hours for the inspection alone. I appreciated how detailed Hi tech was and they provided a folder with a written bid and other information on the treatment. They emailed me a very detailed report which also outlined areas of my home that have dry rot that I need to get fixed. Hi tech was not the cheapest bid but their treatment comes with a 3 year warranty where they will treat your home for free if termites are found within the following three years. The treatment itself was easy and fairly quick. I will call them next year to inspect my property again and let's hope there are no termites!!! They are diamond certified 10 years and I highly recommend that you use this company if your home has fallen victim to termites. read more
