Hi tech termite is a great company and my inspector Jim was available after typical business hours to answer all of my questions and very thorough in his responses. The office staff was very quick to respond to my inquiries as well. I received quotes from 3 other companies and only Hi Tech did a thorough inspection of my home. There was termite pellets by a window sill that I found myself, but what if there was more signs of termites elsewhere that I could not find on my own? I was shocked the other companies only spent a few minutes at my property and Hi tech spent around 2 hours for the inspection alone. I appreciated how detailed Hi tech was and they provided a folder with a written bid and other information on the treatment. They emailed me a very detailed report which also outlined areas of my home that have dry rot that I need to get fixed. Hi tech was not the cheapest bid but their treatment comes with a 3 year warranty where they will treat your home for free if termites are found within the following three years. The treatment itself was easy and fairly quick. I will call them next year to inspect my property again and let's hope there are no termites!!! Hi-Tech Termite Control to the rescue. While our kitchen was being prepped for new flooring, termites were found. I called Hi-Tech, and they sent out an inspector quickly. The inspector checked our entire house and then told us what needed to be done. We called the office and made an appointment to have the termite control work and repairs done in one day. The workers showed up on time, were detailed and professional in their work, and willing to walk us through the process and repairs. I keep on finding more problems with the work they did on my house. They left globs of plaster all over the place. They replaced the floor of my balcony with construction grade wood so it is very rough--not what you want on the outside of your house. I am not even sure that the balcony redo was needed. After hearing a sales pitch from the high-end competition and not having my calls returned from another company once they heard I didn't want to waste my money on an unnecessary tenting, I met with a guy at another company who gave me yet another high quote and then recommended I consider Hi-Tech for a smaller job that would be less than his minimum charge. The Hi-Tech guy inspected the crawl-space under the house and the area I knew was infected. He initially gave me a high quote as well, but then said that he could do a spot-treatment and only guarantee that one area for a year (as opposed to the usual 2-year guarantee on the entire home). $750 instead of $1500+? Sure! Scheduled the job for later this week. Will update this review after... Update: The guy who gave me the estimate stopped by to make sure the actual person doing the work knew what to do. He did. This guy drilled some holes near the baseboards, microwaved the area, crawled under the house, drilled more holes under the floor, sprayed... He was careful not to damage the floor or furniture. He seemed to know what he was doing. Of course these jobs shouldn't cost nearly as much as they do. But at least this job didn't cost me as much as it could have had I gone with the first quote I got from OrangePlanet (3x the price). upgrading my rating from 3 stars to 4. *Update 2: Today I had a complete home inspection and the termite inspector found termites in a location other than where Hi-Tech treated my home. This guy said there must have been evidence of these other termites at least as far back as when I had the Hi-Tech inspection in October. So it looks like Hi-Tech missed it. If they had done their job more thoroughly, this wouldn't be a problem. Downgrading to 2 stars pending their next visit later this week... *Update 3: Hi-Tech came back and crawled around under the house spraying and testing. It seems like they have largely made up for things. I can't really give them a 5-star rating because they haven't been consistently that good. But it seems like it may be ending well. I was researching termite treatments online today, and I ended up on Hi-Tech's Web site, in part because of the positive Yelp reviews. I was disappointed that the person on the other end of the chat, who claimed to be an "Internet representative" of the company, could not answer even the basic question of whether my city of residence is within the company's service area. I have called around several companies to get a quote for termite treatment. The quote has always been free except for Hi Tech termite Control who charge $250 for the quote!!!! We HAVE termites (I know that and can show them the darn pests too) and I just wanted a quote for treatment, not an inspection report for sale. Sure we might sell the property but not yet. I told the fool on the other end my honest two cents worth about my long term plans to sell the house. Guess what ? I have to pay for the quote for treatment if I might sell my house. One of the worst things as a homeowner is finding termites in your home, but Hi-Tech termite showed us that it didn't have to be the end of the world. First, they were able to come out for an inspection almost immediately, and when Terrence arrived, he was professional, informative, honest, and punctual; he arrived when the receptionist said he was going to and he did not pressure us at all after the inspection (which is always a plus, and what turned us off from other companies). Hi-Tech also offered us the best price and warranty and the tech that came to do the treatment for our house was also very courteous, professional and really respected our home (as far as being really careful with his equipment, our floor, and furniture); he also clearly knew what he was doing. I am suprised with all the 5-star reviews on yelp. i gave them a 3-star based on my experience. we found termites, so we called up HI-tech for help. the person on the phone was nice, and have helped us to schedule a free inspection. We were told that the inspection will take probably an hour and the inspector will also check the attic and the crawl space. The inspector came on schedule, he was on time. However, the inspection was only 15 mins. He has examed the exterior of the house and the garage, and found one spot in the garage that was infestated. The other two companies have found 3 infestated area. Also, he didn't go up the attic nor go down the crawl space. i asked him if he can do it, and he just asked if i found any other evidences of termite droppings. I said no, and i wouldn't know if there're any in the attic. Anyhow, he left in 15 mins. I was a little bit disappointed. Even their quote was the lowest, like $400 less than the place we decided to go with, we didn't choose them. read more

When I first called this company, I thought they were a great find. They came over within a few days & inspected my house. I gave them the job. On the day of the job, an employee came over, gave me the report which he wanted signed on the spot. I read the report and it was not detailed so I asked him where are some of the spots & he couldn't locate them from the drawing & neither could I. I called the inspector, he stated that he would come over that same day. He never did. I called back several times the next day to speak to him, he never called back. As a first time home owner, I might be a little bit naive when it comes to things I don't completely understand. So as any good consumer would do, I scheduled several companies to come out and bid. Hi Tech was the first, sending Ben, who came out to inspect my house, outlined what needed to be done, and gave me an EXCELLENT bid. The second company found an extra problem spot in the basement and also gave me a reasonable bid. A third company preyed on my fears and told me on a scale of 1 to 10, my problem was a 9 and that I needed to tent the house which was THOUSANDS of dollars more than I had prepared for. Because Ben seemed the most honest, I gave Hi-Tech a return call and let them know of the concerns the other two companies brought up. Ben happily came out for a re-inspection, acknowledged the additional problem spot and debunked the myth of having to tent the house. He made me feel less afraid of the subterranean termites that are so prevalent in my area. In the process of selling their home to us , the former owner was told by another termite company that $7,000 worth of work was needed to kill both dry-wood and subterranean termites in the house and detached garage. Having had some previous experience with termites, I went under the house and looked for myself. I could find no evidence of them there. So I called Hi Tech, who had done termite work for me in the past. They don't currently advertise in Sebastopol, but they said they would come up for a small travel fee. Jim came out and did a thorough inspection. I was very impressed with his knowledge and honesty. I have dealt with several termite inspectors in the past 30 years, and he is the best I've seen. It turns out that there were a few termites in exterior the trim boards and siding, but none under the house. The other company wanted $7,000 to tent the house and garage. Hi Tech said no tenting was needed, and quoted a price less than one quarter of that amount. read more

I must say I really dreaded having our home inspected for termites as we had lived there for 44 years and never had it inspected. I called Hi-Tech after reading the reviews on Yelp. Our inspector, John, was prompt, professional and very thorough. He explained his findings clearly, and sent a report out the following day. As two areas of subterranean termites were detected, we scheduled a follow-up treatment within a week. Again, the men who did the work were professional and efficient, and explained what they would be doing. My only complaint is that we were not fully informed about the extent of the treatment which involved drilling a series of holes through the concrete garage floor. As we had substantial things in the garage, this meant a lot of work at the last minute, and we would have preferred to have had more time to be ready. read more

He also offered to have Hi Tech come back in 6 months to make sure that the termites are gone. Mr Williams said that he strives to do a good job and to have happy customers. This proves it. I called Hi Tech to check out what I saw as termites in my bathroom. Miguel Salcedo came out and confirmed ours findings. He gave us a bid of $1485.00 to fix the damage and give us a 3 year warranty. There was some confusion on my part thinking that this amount covered some preventive maintenance with the eaves. It was actually a separate bid but the amount was almost the same. I did not get any other estimates as this company is recommended and or advertises in the AOA magazine. (I will be notifying them too.) Also a friend of mine had used Hi Tech and was happy with their work. When I told her what they charged me she could not believe it as she had a lot of work done to her building for a total of $1350 which included the 3 year warranty. It was not Miguel who gave her that bid, someone named Bill she thinks but is not for certain. They charged us $800 (we decided not to get the warranty) for about 15 minutes worth of work. Ty (very nice young man, no complaints about him) made 2 nail head size holes in the wall of the bathroom and sprayed some liquid in there. No paint touch up or anything, not really needed as the holes were so small. I spoke to Mr Williams to have him justify this amount and he informed me that Ty had microwaved the wall also. I was not in the bathroom, so I don't know. Either way it was about 15 minutes worth of work. Mr Williams also informed me that the driveway was difficult to access. That there were cars parked down the driveway. That is true but the driveway is 16 foot wide. I drive my Honda Civic down every day and my husband has a beat up old lift gate truck which he uses 3 or 4 times a day down that driveway and backup. They don't drive a 10 wheeler or a semi .My house is in disarray (storing some of my late brother in laws belongings) but there was a clear path to the bathroom. I had termite damage that I discovered while replacing what I thought was dry rot in a Bay Area home I own. I found the termites had eaten all the way through a large beam and lengthwise through a long fascia board. I had both replaced but wondered where else the bugs were doing damage. I called Hi-Tech and got a quick turnaround to get an appointment (2 days.) Ben Ortiz came out and did a great job. He was professional and brought all the necessary protective booties, jumpsuit and drop cloth. When he went up in the attic, I know he was thorough because I could hear him walking around up there. Likewise for the crawlspace. He went all over because I could hear that too. Of note: when he came out of the attic opening, he didn't bring a shred of the blown in insulation with him. That's impressive. He inspected the garage as well. In the end he gave a fair assessment of what my options were and I had report emailed within one business day. I was fortunate and didn't have anymore termites that Ben could find. He let me know that I could tent or treat locally. He was honest enough to tell me that the house looked great and that really a treatment wasn't needed if I felt comfortable with the infected wood already replaced. When I made the appointment, I was sure I had bugs and would need multiple bids. I'm happy to report another inspection company came by a couple of days after Hi-Tech and reported the same findings - in other words, Hi-Tech was consistent with the other 5 star company on Yelp. If I find I need a tenting or local treatment in the future, I'm calling Hi-Tech. They ate the costs on this inspection but they ensured they'll have my future business when it comes time to pay. read more

I do no write many reviews, but with this company I was pleasantly surprised. I would like to give the Hi-Tech Termite Control guys five stars. I called them for a free inspection because of the several ~1/4 inch holes appeared on the outside wood siding of my house. I thought these are the signs of the termite activity. Jim came right in time looked at the holes and said that these are not termites but rather wood wasps. He pointed to several more problems including other places with suspected wasps activity and fungus. Gave me many helpful advices and promised to answer any questions once they arise. He said that the damage should not be large and a handyman can do the job. They can do the job also, but they are full for the two coming months. I learned a lot from this completely free inspection! I will certainly be contacting these guys again once I need a termite professional. read more

HTTC was the second company which came out to our home to provide an inspection. I was happy with the first company's inspection, but was pleased to find that a second opinion can make a difference! The inspector (Jorge) was not only super friendly, professional, and thorough...he also identified evidence of further termite activity in an area the first company missed. Jorge provided different treatment options, never pushed the sale, and was very accommodating when asked to go through some of the contract details with me. Once we finished our discussion over the contract, I was able to get an appointment for the treatment the next day. I was given an appointment time frame of 9am with an approximate time of completion of 2-4 hours. The exterminator (Rene) arrived at exactly 9am and finished at 11:30am. Hi-Tech just completed a perimeter treatment at my house and the whole experience was great. Termite issues started when I went into the garage one evening and found termites swarming around the lights. The next day we discovered escape tubes in the driveway in front of the house and my wife saw a mass migration of subterranean termites flying from the ground at dusk. I called 3 companies to come to my house to take a look and provide a recommendation and cost. Hi-Tech did the most thorough inspection of the companies (Ben did the inspection) and went into the attic and crawl space. He also checked the garage, roof eaves, and other likely places. Hi-Tech's estimate was very fairly priced, lower than one company and the same as another, but it also included scraping/spraying the exposed beams in the crawl space with a preventative treatment since some tubes were found on one of the beams. Hi-Tech answered all my questions, called to remind me of the inspection and treatment appointments, and showed up on time for both. Both the inspector and applicator were very respectful of my house and wore boot protectors when inside and cleaned up. The applicator was very professional too, answered my questions, and worked diligently. Having read the horror stories from other posts I was worried about the whole experience, but it turned out to be very positive. read more
