Wait Line outside the shop

Recently got it two times within a month - both times bagels were hard, cold and without really any flavor - they are expensive as well. They are no longer the same when they opened last year and used to continuously bake fresh bagels. Not sure what has changed. The cream cheese also wasn't that fresh and got bad within 2-3 days. I don't think I will be recommending them to friends anymore. We had tried sea salt, everything, garlic, jalapeno.

I have been dying to try Hey Bagel and it did not disappoint! One of the best bagels I've ever had, and they have an assortment of creative smear flavors to accompany them. I had the garlic bagel with a curry smear and it was amazing. There is plenty of parking in the garage parking for the mall as the spots around it fill up quickly! There is also a nice area with tables just a few steps away from hey bagel.

Solid bagel. Sturdy exterior and fluffy on the insides. The spreads make this extraordinary.

I love their bagels and schmears!! It's like pop-up esque since they don't toast or cut the bagel for you but better since you can buy individual bagels and individual schmear containers (a 2 oz is perfect for one bagel imo)!! Anticipate a line on weekend mornings but it moved quick!

Left to right: sea salt (4.5/5), plain (4.5/5), everything (4/5), sesame (4/5), salted poppy (3.5/5), and garlic (3.5/5)

I got a plain (4.5/5), sea salt (4.5/5), sesame (4/5), everything (4/5), garlic (3.5/5), and salted poppy (3.5/5). The sea salt and plain had a nice crunchy crust and soft chewy inside; the other bagels a little less so, especially for the garlic and salted poppy; they were not crunchy and a bit disappointing for a bagel spot. Service was good and quick (4/5); I was pleasantly surprised that they still had all flavors at 2pm on a Sunday.

If you haven't gotten a HeyBagel yet, you NEED to! I would recommend literally any of their bagels, and they're so fresh! You might even get your hands on a bagel fresh out of the oven...steaming hot! The salt bagel is my favorite, with the scallion cream cheese! It is very busy on the weekends, so I recommend going mid day/evening because they're less busy then. But if you're looking for a super fresh bagel, I recommend going before all the other stores open up in University Village, it's less busy then! You need this bagel, and you won't stop thinking about this bagel! @Madeline's_Dines

Finally, a bagel place in Seattle that gets the texture right! My husband is a certified bagel enthusiast. He's originally from the Northeast, and whenever we visit New York, finding a great bagel is his absolute number one priority. To be honest, we've struggled to find a "this is it!" kind of bagel in Seattle. But after a friend from the East Coast highly recommended this place, claiming it's the closest thing to a real NY bagel they've found, we decided to visit Hey Bagel at U-Village. Here is our honest breakdown: The Bagels (Texture is spot-on!) The Texture: Outstanding. They nailed the classic New York style--perfectly chewy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. Our Picks: We tried the Everything, Sesame, Pepperoni, and Salt bagels. Everything was by far the standout winner. The Pepperoni was just okay, and we felt the overall flavor of the bagels themselves was a bit mild, but the texture absolutely made up for it. The Schmears (A spicy lover's dream) They have a massive selection of schmears, and it honestly feels like the owner is a big fan of spicy flavors! We asked the staff for recommendations and brought home three kinds: Spicy Scallion: Surprisingly spicy with a very prominent green onion flavor. Bold and delicious! Chili Crisp: Not as spicy as we expected, and didn't really stand out to us. Raspberry Curry Hot Honey: We were a bit skeptical about this combo, but it ended up being our absolute favorite! It tastes like a sweet, fragrant coconut curry. Since the bagel flavors are on the milder side, this unique, flavorful schmear paired with them beautifully. Service & Vibe The staff here is incredibly friendly. If you're overwhelmed by the options, just ask them--they are more than happy to guide you and share their favorites. If you are hunting for a legit bagel spot in the Seattle area, Hey Bagel is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back for more Everything bagels and that Raspberry Curry Hot Honey schmear!

The bagels were delicious! Nicely crunchy on the outside, and fluffy & soft inside. The everything seasoning was a bit too salty for me. The schmears were yummy, I liked the chili crisp, which was unique. When we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, there was a line out the door, but it moved fast. They were still baking fresh bagels at this time of day. There is a small counter space to eat at, but is typically already occupied due to high traffic. We took some home to freeze and followed the reheating instructions on the paper bag, which came out almost perfectly.

Adore this place!! The bagels are fantastic, and the shmears even better. We tried Zoe in Seattle schmear, and it was great. The workers are very friendly as well. Not much seating inside however. Will definitely be back!

This is a counter serve bagel shop in an outdoor shopping center so it's all walk up counter service. They have allot of bagel types and shmears. Also 4 kinds of bialys. Very popular and tasty. Lots of nice coffee choices as well! We recommend this place because the bagels are good. Kinda pricey but very tasty .

Hey Bagel is a bagel spot located in University Village in Seattle. There is lots of parking available at University Village. It could take some time navigating to find the parking though. I have been wanting to visit Hey Bagel for quite some time and finally had the time to do so since I was in the area! There was a short line out the door of Hey Bagel that moved quickly. I decided on the Garlic Bagel with the 2oz Whole Lox smear. There was limited space inside the shop to eat your bagel, but we were able to squeeze in after a few people left. I love bagels and cream cheese. The simplicity of it is what makes it so great. The bagels are freshly made and perfect to eat warm!

The best bagels in Seattle hands down! The closest you'll get to a true New York bagel..I've spent many years in NY so take it from me. Service is attentive and they thoroughly help you with the selections and their recommendations. There are some standing counters where you can eat the bagels, but no sit down area. This place is small and the lines can get long. However, the best part about this establishment is that they make bagels throughout the day until they're sold out. These bagels are not cheap but worth it if you're looking for a great bagel and schmear..$19.50 for half dozen, $35 for a baker's dozen.

I'm a harsh bagel critic and these are hands down the best bagels in Seattle and the US (yes including NY/NJ). Not only do they have the perfect crusty exterior but also an excellently fluffy and chewy interior, AND they bake hot bagels nearly all day. The owner is a master baker and the team works efficiently. Walking in there to see huge slabs of dough being worked and shaped into bagels in an open sight vibe can bring a tear to my eye. They also have bialys and sometimes limited time schmears - presently a fried shallot and chive schmear that is unbelievable. Monday is now blueberry day and Wednesday pumpernickel! At 8am open they've got full baskets of hot bagels of all kinds.

They are coming up on their first decade next summer. The cafe decor also held up pretty well, including the large glass fixture from the ceiling. Seattle Sunshine Coffee also outlived Ventoux that I had mentioned in my prior post. The barista and I compared my 2016 stamp card to the current design, just had a few slight different nuances. This indie cafe had folks onsite, but not packed. There was still room available whether seated along the sidewalk, main seating area, or the upstairs mezzanine. Some convos to be had, but most of the cafe clientele were on their laptops or reading. Pastry case was well stocked with the wholesale variety from Macrina, plus the usual bevs and cafe fare. I enjoyed my near two hour onsite visit. The only thing I wished is that I had brought a hoodie. The AC was jacked up. and of course, I had savored an iced mocha. Hopefully my next cafe detour won't take nine years though between visits.

They have so much outdoor seating, on both sides of the cafe, which I really like. Way more than downtown. Food came out super quick too. My go to order has always been the Mr Breakfast plate, it's super hearty and full of great breakfast foods. However, the price has increased exponentially and quality has definitely gone down. I used to pay around $15 for this plate and it included bacon and now it's $17 + an extra $4 to add 2 pieces of bacon. (The bacon is totally worth it though). The potatoes recipe need to be completely refined, or they need to offer a substitution option for them. They are overly soft and they don't have nearly enough seasoning. That was the only thing that remained on my plate when I was done! and the soft boiled egg tasted a little off to me, like it had been sitting for a bit long. Other than that, the Turkish eggs and chopped chicken salad were very fresh and good. Staff were super nice when ordering at the counter, coffees and pastries were good as well. Overall I will come back here, just would like to see some quality changes with the Mr Breakfast as it used to be very good.

So I'm sad to see the decline in this establishment. Upon entering I immediately noticed the worn upholstery in the booths. A serious makeover is needed. So trashy. But I get it times are hard. My food arrived on a chipped plate - time to throw it away folks. The counter server was very friendly as normal so that's a definite plus. However the BLT I ordered looked like they threw all the ingredients on the toast with no real prep. The tomato jam was not jam but pieces huge chunks too big to eat. While I'm glad they aren't skimping on the ingredients it was piled so high that it was challenging to eat. I ended up eating it in pieces with my fork and as such lost the tastiness of a combination of the flavors as it quickly became a deconstructed mess. A huge plus - the Seattle Fog was probably the best "London" fog I've ever had !!! Bravo. Not sure I'll come back again this visit. Maybe I'll check it next summer to see if improvements have been made.

The furniture is all very tasteful, with a great combination of black, white, tan, and dark green to tie the entire space together into a cohesive, artful, and modern vibe. Once you've soaked in the space, the next thing that grabs your attention is the coffee. The beans are perfectly roasted, and every espresso drink is crafted with precision and care, with beautiful latte art for even the alternative milks (which is quite difficult to accomplish!). The coffee is a bit nutty and chocolately, with a lovely fragrance that goes wonderfully with milk. It's located in the same spot after many decades in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood. Since there's several cafes along this stretch of 35th NE, as point of reference, it's two doors south of Wedgwood Broiler. It shares a huge parking lot and adjacent to a Metro bus route. It had a nice autumn hue from the overhead lighting and interior decor. The local art for sale adorning the walls was a nice added touch. Upbeat, welcoming staff. It was full right at noon and brisk walk-in takeout traffic. Nice overhead music to chill, dine, and/or do laptop stuff. They offer the usual bev menu, as well as, breakfast & lunch items, soups, salads, modest pastry case (from Alki Bakery), merch, and coffee roasts from Zoka. The 16oz mocha was well crafted temp wise & good balance of espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate. I also opted for the roast beef panini without the horseradish. Generously filled with roast beef, havarti, mayo, and red onion on savory focaccia. It was provided with au jus and I selected potato salad versus chips. The au jus was not salty, so after dipping, I also sipped the hot broth. Very flavorful and filling. The other panini half I'll have to take home.
