I finally got a chance to try this coffee place! Come here as early as you can, a line starts to form around 8 or 9 am on the weekends. The oat milk latte is good, but a little light roast (or more sour when pulled into espresso shots) for my liking. Good atmosphere here when it doesn't get too busy. They play Y2K music and it's a little bit dim. read more

I had stopped in a long time ago (2007-ish) to have a mocha, wasn't a Yelper back then. This post is for two visits made on 4/12/24 (takeout) and today 4/30/24 (onsite). The upper Ave-University Way-Ravenna site is located with adjacent 2 hour street parking and along Metro bus routes. My first visit was with me throwing on my hazard blinkers on while parked in the loading zone. This cafe was packed, but thankfully no line. I was able to get a pair of 16oz iced mochas to go before dropping The Homie off on campus, then continuing to my worksite in SLU. Fast, friendly, efficient service. Taking sips of it on the road and arriving at work...nicely crafted. Balanced and can really taste the espresso shots. Again dropped off The Homie on campus, but today I decided to make a detour, found nearby parking, and sat with a hot 8oz mocha onsite. I was able to snag a two top facing the front counter and take in the cozy cafe environment. There's two tops along one wall parallel to the front counter, also some shared table space, counter space, and outdoor sidewalk seating available. Folks were either on their laptops, having convos, or like me, just chilling. Essentially wrap around configuration, just a tad smaller than the Phinney Ridge location. Gave the pastry case a glance. Pleasant folks at the counter. I liked my mocha, again nicely crafted with nice coffee art. A pricey indulgence though ($5.75 including tax & tip for 8oz), but sure tasted great! They are open daily 7am-2pm. Phinney Ridge stays open later until 6pm. Their third location is at 4th & Blanchard in Belltown. Decent local indie chain. I enjoyed my brief detour and well fueled to head home to get the business day going. read more

Herkimer Coffee offers a consistently satisfying experience. I usually get the Iced Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk. The coffee is bold, smooth, and has a nice depth, reflecting its freshness and high quality. Plus, the prices are fair and on the cheaper end without sacrificing quality. I also like their breakfast roll, which is flaky and soft inside with a vanilla sugar topping. This place is always busy when I visit, and the baristas are consistently nice and helpful. While the seats fill up quickly and it's slightly loud from all the chatter, the fast-paced environment is great for getting work done with headphones in. The space is slightly small, but the cozy vibes make it inviting. I've been recommended this place by several people before becoming a frequent visitor myself. read more

The service was great! The latte was kinda meh though unfortunately. It tasted a bit like when there's too much espresso or when it's perhaps burnt or overused espresso. Stopped here on my way to work downtown when I needed somewhere open early and with a good mix of options. They did not do pour over, but they did have a medium and a light roast option for their drip coffee. So if you want delicious, fresh light roast, you can get it here if you show up early in the morning. The space is beautiful and peaceful inside, and their maps / sources of coffee up on the wall are a lovely illustration of how global coffee is (and how ethical it can be). read more

Easily five stars! Herkimer Coffee is nice and cozy and one of the only places in Seattle where I am still able to get my coffee for less than $8! AND I was able to find FREE parking in under 5 minutes?! Initially it looked pretty busy, but I was able to get two coffees in less than 10 minutes. Will definitely be coming here again :) read more

I ordered two vanilla lattes- an oat-milk one for my friend and a regular milk for myself. They maintain and clean their equipment really well since I'm severely allergic to oat-milk and I had no reaction. The latte itself was better than I expected and made this place one of my favorite coffee shops in Seattle so far. I prefer more espresso to milk in my lattes so that I can actually taste my coffee; although the more espresso part was not there, the coffee notes were discernible (which was a great surprise!). I could also taste the vanilla separately from the coffee notes too which is rare for most lattes. My only downside was that my coffee wasn't piping hot, but that won't stop me from coming back in the future! Summary: good drinks and vibes, but if you love coffee then this is esp your place :) read more

The wait can be long at certain times of day, but it's been a while since I saw such jovial staff that clearly enjoyed being around one another and the customers. It was so refreshing. I loved how clear the menu board is, especially for ground coffee and their gift items (hats, tumblers, to go cups). My London Fog (SF vanilla and almond milk) was perfect. I stopped by Herkimer Coffee on a whim while walking in the neighborhood. Having flashbacks of the last time I impulse bought a coffee shop with horrible outcomes, I quickly asked Yelp and confirmed I'm probably in a good place. Small coffee shop with a nice vibe. Several art pieces on the wall, all of which were for sale, so it's definitely a bonus to see new artwork if you were a regular. Service was kinda really meh. The 2 baristas were actively engaged in their own conversation so I had to wait for any sort of acknowledgement BUT they were working while chatting so at the end of the day it's all good. First and foremost is they have high quality coffee that is smooth, rich, and flavorful no matter how you take it. We've had lattes, drips, and iced, and all of them have been great tasting coffee. The location is convenient betwixt and between Ravenna and U Distrtict. The staff has always been friendly and courteous. They have some great pastries in the case at the end of the counter. Pre Covid they had Besalu pastries, and during Covid they have had Macrina items. We love stopping in on our way anywhere to start off our day with Herkimer. They have their set up to be Covid acceptable with order to go, 6 feet spacing while you wait to order, and wait outside. read more

Excellent coffee - Herkimer's Espresso roast is my favorite espresso roast and probably favorite coffee period in Seattle. Brews well not only as espresso but also as a pour over and areopress. Pro tip: You can get this in a 2lb bag, too! Espresso drinks brewed in the store are consistently great and, in my experience, the baristias do justice to this excellent coffee. Usually go with an Americano but lattes are excellent and their mochas have just the right amount of chocolate to avoid being too sweet. Also try an espresso soda (iced americano with soda water instead of still water) with vanilla and a splash of cream ... not on the menu, but they're happy to make it for you. read more

Great coffee shop that still has a strong neighborhood, chill vibe and has some really delicious coffee. Stumbled in here while in the neighborhood looking for a coffee break after going to the University Farmers Market on a weekend. There was a bit of a line but I was immediately charmed by the friendly, welcoming vibe of the baristas and the atmosphere in the shop. Music was playing but not too loudly and the line moved along as the baristas efficiently took orders and made drinks. I got a cortado and was super happy with it - the perfect ratio of cream to espresso to foam with a nice full flavor. Was excited to visit Seattle as its this self proclaim coffee capital- but honestly was disappointed constantly as I chased Yelp reviews of coffee shops around town until we were recommended to Herkimer. Our Uber driver said we should check out a sweet little shop named Porchlight coffee (tiny shop that sells some records and brews Herkimer). She said "If you like their coffee, the roaster has their own shop. We liked the sweet almost cinnamon-y kick to their drip so we traveled to this location. Super sweet baristas, good coffee. I got a mocha- was a nice mix of coffee and milk taste- I could have probably added an extra shot for a better buzz. My bf got an americano and liked it. Walking through the area and stumbled upon Herkimer at random. It was a typical cold and wet Seattle day so I hopped on in for a warm up. First off, staff is super friendly. Atmosphere - cozy Plenty of snacks/pastries with gluten free options as well. You can get your coffee in a mug or to-go The coffee itself....THE BEST I'VE HAD IN A LONG, LONG TIME. Perfectly bold. Smooth. My Americano was simple enough but it was the best darn Americano that I've had. Plus the prices are more than fair. I am not a fan of SBUX and there are plenty of coffee houses to choose from in this city...but Herkimer has to be one of my faves now. I would certainly walk out of my way to come here. Herkimer Coffee is one of my favorite cafes in Seattle! They have multiple locations including their main roasting location in Phinney Ridge. Their coffee is very high quality and the baristas are knowledgeable, skilled, and friendly. They also sell Cafe Besalu (another one of my favorites) pastries. This location can get crowded especially on the weekend with the University District Farmers market and it being a popular spot.
