Hot cocoa with whipped cream. Mocha.

Not sure why this company isn't 5 stars. This exceeds any expectations of a coffee shop. Barista is friendly. We got the chai, hot coco and mocha which was all delicious. The book selection is amazing! The vibes are chill and a fun place to read while you enjoy your coffee with a great selection of books. And the fact that they don't believe in tips makes me want to come back as funny as it sounds. They pay their employees fair wages where tips aren't encouraged. You can enjoy your coffee because it'll be made the same whether or not you tip. As crazy as it sounds.

This shop has me torn. I've visited a couple times and I enjoy the overall retro design of the shop, the mid-century modern furniture, the book shelves and coffee gear offerings, but the coffee and food has been just ok. I most recently ordered the KyotoBot coffee which is made from their cold percolation towers and it reminded me of a cut cold brew, just not as exciting as I was hoping. Also ordered a lye roll which was kinda dry but I didn't have super high expectations for it. The baristas were chill and they had some retail roasts for $15 at 12oz so I appreciate that. But overall, I would say it leaves a lot to be desired but thanks to the seating options it's a relaxing spot to study/ catch up with a friend/ read a book

    Rosemary latte

Came by here on a Friday around 10:30AM and it was busy! Luckily I was able to snag a high top chair looking out the window. I ordered their seasonal rosemary latte ($7.50). It was very warm and frothy, with a subtle rosemary taste. I'm pretty sure they make their syrups in-house so they had a few options to select from. They also have the assortment of Torani syrup flavors to choose from too. The two making my coffee and taking my order were very helpful and nice to chat with as I was deciding which drink to order. I spent about two hours there drinking my latte and studying. It was a nice atmosphere for studying. I'd definitely come back again!

I do not have pleasant experiences here because early in the day, there is only one girl working and waiting 5 minutes per customer can be excruciating. She is also not the friendliest of the bunch, and hardly seems to care. The space is cute, and that's about it. The coffee is average and overpriced. The books on the shelf are only of popular ones - it's like walking into a Barnes&Noble, except this place doesn't support local authors.

    matcha and cardamom latte

This is such a cute and lovingly decorated coffee shop. When we came in they were giving out free drip coffees and free cardamom lattes. We had the (free) cardamom latte and a matcha one, to which both pleasantly surprised us! I probably wouldn't have tried the cardamom latte if it wasn't free (had no clue what that would taste like!), and I'm really glad I was enticed to get it. The people who work here also seem to care for each other, and really their business and customers as well. I found in the bathroom a collection of menstrual products for customers to take if they needed some. Rare to find that at businesses! Came out of this place overall quite fueled up with energy and in a great mood.

    Tarts, so good!

Great coffee. Great vibe. Great space- old wood and high ceilings. Delicious baked goods. Awesome baristas. Like much of Seattle, LGBTQ support was demonstrated by the flag on the wall. Free wifi. Patio out back. Only complaint is parking is an absolute nightmare. This is more of a "locals" communicty cafe that you walk or bike to. There is literally no parking lot or street parking. There are a few spots behind this row of stores that everyone jockies for. In a word- exactly everything you expect in a neighborhood cafe in seattle.

    8oz cappuccino and muffin to-go
    Jackie E.

I only give them 4 out of 5 (let's round up to 4.5) because the menu is so basic, there's no parking (even though I walked to it - still helpful to note) and it's kinda pricey. They have safety precautions in place, however with the register being so close to the door if there is any noise on the street it's hard to hear the barista. Aside from the basic coffee choices, there was also food available, but only limited quantities of the pastries. I got a cappuccino (plain, 8oz - $4.50 or maybe it was $5?) and a chocolate muffin ($??). Total came to $10.73...so IMO that was a bit pricey for what I got... Cappuccino was pretty standard though tasty, I just forgot how small 8oz actually was! The muffin was very moist, however it got less tasty as I ate through it and I did not finish it... Maybe it was vegan or organic or took the flavor of the bag it was in, I'm not sure...but I'd stick to just "coffee" if I were to go back.

    Cold, dry croissant.

The baristas are super rude and their coffee is bitter. The inside of the coffee shop is nice though.

My cousin and I were basically playing hide and seek because I couldn't find where she was. Lol. I had a hard time finding it, but once I finally did totally worth it! This cozy bookstore feels like stepping back in time. Shelves are stacked with a mix of used, vintage, and classic books, and honestly... they smell like it too. Lol. There's just something comforting about that old-book scent. You'll find everything from fiction and poetry to rare finds and children's titles tucked in the corners. It's small, quiet, and slightly perfectly imperfect in the best way because every shelf feels like a treasure hunt! The nostalgic vibe makes you want to linger a little longer. Priced fair, service is fast. If you love books with history and personality, this is a sweet little hidden gem worth discovering inside Pike Place. A nice escape from the Market's buzz just you, the books, and that unmistakable paper and ink smell.

I walked in and didn't expect much, but we were exploring the levels of Pike Place because I didn't realize they had levels upon my last visit. I was also looking for a biscuit spot that was across the street. So we went back and forth, floor by floor and found this gem where we stopped to peruse the books. My husband found some books and bought them. The person working there was nice and helpful. It was clear that he knew his inventory, as my husband asked about a book and he led him to it. The value was good as well. I know that we will definitely be back, next time, I hope to spend a bit more time there. This isn't the most organized place, but if you are willing to look through the books and are open to the surprise find that awaits you, then this is the spot for all of that!

I paid $27 more for the fantastic customer service that I received from the owner much more than the actual contents of the book that I purchased. Took me an hour to find Lion heart book store cause it's in one of the levels at Pike place and being such a small and crammed spot with many many stores was very hard to find. I totally will take the blame on my navigation skills but what was disappointing was calling multiple times and no one picked up my call - just for some tips or guidance. Next the owner wasn't in the store, there was this boy who no matter how well or how nicely I tried asking for tips on books or any details around books the only response I got was "unfortunately I don't have any info, you have to look up the books" gosh! That wasn't the help I was expecting and the boy refused to move from his spot or even try helping from the spot he was so comfortably perched on. No matter what, bad bad experience!
