BEST BAGELS EVER…read more Wow. I will be dreaming about these perfect bagels for the rest of my life. We had 24 hours in Seattle and made sure to stop by this bagel spot after seeing it on Instagram. They were HEAVENLY. We got a dozen and got to try every flavor, but the sesame, everything, and the sea salt were top tier. They were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft and fluffy on the inside. They were not overly dense or chewy. They were just perfect. We loved the spicy jalapeño schmear, as well as just the plain schmear we got. It's hidden in a super cute residential area and feels super cozy. Service is also amazing. They are on it and tend to everyone quickly, so the line moves fast. I wish they would open up a spot in LA because I would be there weekly (if not more).

Street parking was easy. The staff were welcoming and kind. There is no seating, and you will need to take your items to-go. The bagels are not sliced, and you can either rip and dip or slice them at home. I tried the plain, sea salt, sesame, and poppy bagels with scallion cream cheese. The bagels themselves are okay. The plain was my favorite, and the sea salt bagel was too salty for my preference. The chocolate chip cookie was absolutely incredible. It is definitely among the best in Seattle. The cookie had the perfect amount of sweetness, salt, and chocolate. It's definitely worth trying.

Hit and Miss. If…read moreyou try their freshly baked bagels (out of the oven within 30mins) then they are the best - soft, fluffy and flavorful, but if its been there on the shelf for couple of hours, then they are not that great - stretchy and too hard . Infact their staff also plays tricks, - especially one of their girls. Once I asked her if they are getting more of fresh bagels, she said no and gave me the bagels from the shelf. While giving me a bag, a new batch came out from the back, and so then she changed just 2 of the bagels, not all. Since this was my first time, I didn't really think much about this. For next few weeks I again went couple of times , some other people person were on the counter, who was gracious enough to always tell me that yes a new batch is coming up but I might have to wait for 10-15mins. I waited and every-time got warm bagels. After few weeks I again went, and the same first girl was there and I asked her the same question , she again said no, so I insisted if she can go back and check (it was just 9am only), she said it more firmly to me - "I am telling you there is no more fresh bagels coming in". So I took whatever she gave me from the shelf. While walking out , from the window I saw a big tray of fresh bagels came out. But since the line was long, I didn't want to get into the conversation with that girl, so I ignored it. This happened one more time recently as well. So not sure if that one particular girl didn't want to give me fresh ones or maybe she wants older bagels to sell before giving out fresher one, but since this happened 3 times, I am not impressed. I had also bought their bagels once from their pop-up market and it was also not that fresh. By the way, their small cafe has good ambiance if you want to sit there and enjoy their bagels and coffee right there. Whatever I write above, I will still keep coming back since they are my 2nd fav bagel shop in Seattle area.

On my most recent visit, I also tried the black sesame bagel with butter. That's an easy fix though, and I'll just ask for it toasted a bit longer and less butter next time. I really love the location of this spot and am hoping to check out their other location soon. They share a great outdoor seating area with Sea Wolf Bakers and also have a small amount of indoor seating. There's usually a line on weekday mornings and a longer one on weekends, but it moves surprisingly quickly, so the wait has never felt unreasonable. One thing I especially appreciate is how light these bagels are compared to some other Seattle bagel shops. They have a great chew without feeling overly dense. Service has always been friendly and efficient. I still haven't tried any of their fish sandwiches, but that's next on my list. Until then, I'm perfectly happy sticking with a classic sesame bagel and cream cheese.

Their bagels are fabulous as is their lox. For those, like me, who can unhinge their jaw for an authentic pastrami or corned beef masterpiece. Go with the "Ding sized" sandwich. They'll make a smaller Seattle sized version as well for those who don't treat deli as an indulgence of rye and meat piled high. I wish they'd add kreplach to the menu (sorry Vance. I know my litany is old!) but I keep discovering new deliciousness here even after being a regular for nearly 4 years since my recovery from a life threatening illness, that I recovered from in part due to making regular stops here during my post surgical recovery. Just today I had the blintzes for the first time with their in house made cherry compote and sour cream. Amazing. Keep up the amazing work!!! My recommendation for newbies. Get the pastrami on marbled rye with gribenes and mustard. If you're feeling extra indulgent ask for a schmear of chopped liver, if you're keen on said. You won't regret it!

There was nothing "famous" about it. I tried the fresher corned beef sandwich my friend got and felt the fresh corned beef was quite good - hence the upgrade from 2 to 3 stars here. It's counter service, they bring the food (no numbers for tables makes this a bit of a trial and error) . Coffee is self serve and there is a sign saying refills are $2.75.... how un-American.

We ordered the fennel and pepperoni pizza, and it was really good! It came out fresh, hot, and with a solid portion size. The flavors were great, and everything tasted like it had just been made. The food came out in under 10 minutes, which was impressive considering how busy the place felt. The service was great too. It's more of a café and bakery with a food counter than a traditional sit-down restaurant, but the staff were friendly, welcoming, and brought our food right to us. We spent around $24 total, which I thought was pretty reasonable for the quality and portions we received. What really sets Oxbow apart for me is the atmosphere. Despite having plenty of people inside, it wasn't overly loud or chaotic. It's an awesome place to grab coffee, get some studying done, catch up with someone, or just enjoy some good food. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. The pizza was great, the service was quick, and the atmosphere was easily my favorite part.
