Friendly baristas, delicious drinks and cool vibe . They are open late for a coffee shop and serve alcohol. They also have a great patio.
Street parking is impossible to find but it is free. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. They don't have their own specialty drinks but they have a full cafe and bar inside. I ordered a latte with their sugar free syrup and cinnamon powder. It was very tasty. We also tried the skull cake and a vegan strawberry pastry.
Really cool Atmosphere . Friendly staff and great service . Coffee and pastries were great and they have heavier foods in the evening . Can't wait to go again
I was really wanting to find some coffeeshops to lock in on a Saturday late afternoon / early evening, and Hexe really came through for me. I thought their ambiance was really cool with the dark academic, black vibes. I ended up getting a tea since it was later in the day, but my friend said that his coffee was also quite good--I will need to get that in the future. What really impressed me was the cookie. Everything in the pastry case looked and sounded super yummy, so I caved and got their Chocolate Chip Cookie. It was SUCH a good cookie. It had the perfect texture, both crunchy and soft, and had such a well done combination of flavors. I loved the tahini and sea salt paired with the chocolate. It's a great environment for studying as well. They have a lot of tables, as well as outlets and Wi-Fi. The only drawback is that the tables are super close together, but it was still a good place to lock in. I will be coming back for sure!
I'd heard good things about this coffee shop and finally checked it out. Parking was a bit of a struggle and the place was pretty packed, but the coffee itself was solid. I also tried one of the best peanut butter cookies I've had in a long time The employee was helpful, and there were tables and seating both indoors and outdoors. They offer the option to spike your drink with a variety of options to choose from, which was a fun touch. Prices felt about average overall. Worth a visit. Just be ready to hunt for parking!
Great location to sit and work or visit with friends. Met a friend for a mid day catch up and the place was packed. We had the Garden Me sandwich and it's delicious. I had the chai latte and it was very good. Street parking is available
This was a really cool cafe that we stumbled upon while exploring the neighborhood. Simple menu for the coffee options and I tried their seasonal drink which was the biscoff latte, quite perfect but a bit on the sweet side. There's also alcohol option for someone who just want to chill and grab a drink.
Very chic coffee and cocktail cafe. Love the vibe!!! I went for coffee and did not realize they served cocktails as well. The cocktail menu was intriguing and will definitely draw me back. The espresso drinks were as good as it gets. The indoor seating is chic and comfy but it looks like there's outside seating in summer as well.
Hexe.... coffee and cocktails extraordinaire! I've been a handful of times over the years for coffee, lunch, cocktails on the patio, and even events, and it's always great. The coffee is quality- I've never had a bad drink. The pastries are good, and the one sandwich I've tried (turkey/brie on baguette, no longer on the menu) was stellar. Looking at the cocktail menu, it's super inventive and fun for a coffee shop, so I looove that! Vibes are pretty chill. It's a dark, almost emo vibe (skull pastries?! Lol) with a modern twist. Comfy for working or chatting with friends, inside or outside on their super nice patio. There was a pop up event happening on the patio today- I like that they do local events to keep giving us reasons to come by :) Will def continue to come back!
This cafe was fine. I could barely taste the vanilla latte and do not come here if you're working from home/have meetings. They crank up the music pretty loud. The WiFi is pretty unreliable and I had to use my hotspot. Not to mention it's super cold bc they crank the ac but the outdoor area was nice. It seems like there's a lot of customers at this place. The chocolate croissant was just fine. Although, I wish there was a little more chocolate
I came to this place on a whim. I always see it when I'm on the bus and was interested in trying it out eventually. Inside has black walls which I actually like. It reminds me of a saloon a bit. The bar is quite large and they also serve alcohol which is a plus. On weekends they have pizza slices. They are pet friendly and have a nice spacious patio! I got the iced latte with vanilla syrup. The coffee is pretty strong so I would definitely come back here in the morning when I need it most. They have merch available for purchase such as shirts,tote bags and glasses. They also have 5 pound bags of coffee if you want to make their coffee at home. Lastly the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

How many places serve coffee AND alcohol? Several. The barista who is short, sweeps well, and wears hokas was quick to snag a new trash bag when there was wayyyyyy too much trash in the one being used when I arrived... I truly appreciate that. The tall bloke was bold in his political views but wore a smile on his face regardless. Boy who paints monkey is funny! read more
Nice patio and they serve more than just espresso based drinks! For this afternoon, I opted to get a cappuccino, great latte art, wish I had a double espresso to get more coffee flavor. They also do latte art on the hot chocolate too. Alcoholic beverages from beer, wine and cocktails are available. The patio was open during the winter with a few tables and chairs. Great spot! Parking is a little tough. Great ambiance on the outside. Inside is nice but tight seating. Great drip coffee and alcohol selection. The bakery is nice too! No pour over though unfortunately but besides that great spot! Definitely recommend! Cocktails and beers are great too! read more
I am an online entertainment critic and influencer. I'm in Chicago a lot and wanted to sing the praises of the Hexe Coffee Company in the Roscoe Village, Lake View, and Lincoln Park Area. This is not your mama's Starbucks or the same ol', same ol'. This is a cool, hip coffee shop that also serves alcoholic drinks. Full menus of coffees, teas, pastries, bagels, breakfast sandwiches. Their logos and artwork is gothic, spooky, and creative featuring skulls, spiders, gothic characters. etc. It's where Wednesday from the Adams Family would hang out and have a coffee. But don't let that description scare you. Look at the photo. All young families, babies, dogs, upscale professional people. The line was out the door on a Sunday morning. The quality of their items are as good as any other coffee shop and prices may have even been a tad better. I highly recommend this place next time you need a drink, a place to relax, or just to hang! read more

The coffee is typically pretty good here. They do have both indoor and outdoor seating options. They do have a couple of vegan pastries but unfortunately many times when I have gone in the afternoon they are sold out. I also think the vegan cookie has a bit too much salt for my taste but still glad they have vegan options! read more

Cute coffee shop in Bucktown with a huge outdoor space! My friend and I stopped by around lunch time and the place was super busy, but thankfully has tons of seating and quick service. I got the matcha latte with vanilla syrup which I really enjoyed. The almond croissant was crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. Both were super filling. There was a band playing outside and not too noisy inside. This would be a great place to hang out or work! read more
Yes, absolutely will be my go to for a place to get some really good coffee and really good baked treats. I came initially alone and enjoyed the ambiance and feel of Hexe. I ordered the ham & cheese croissant and a matcha. I popped a squat at the bar and enjoyed myself. Loved the service and coffee so much that I brought my wife back and we made a day of sitting on the patio, which has ample seating, and enjoying the place. The coffee and sweets are delicious and the sandwich menu and beer options are plentiful. Definitely will be a regular here. read more

I'm slowly becoming a cafe connoisseur. The ambiance is so cool with its witch theme. The main reason it got a 4 was because it was uncomfortable being in the space. It was so cold. But the drinks were delicious. I got the campfire S'mores seasonal latte. read more

Toss place is so cool! I love the decor, the color palette, the finishing! I love the amount of patio space. Everything about this place is cool! The staff was great! They had vegan for items. My vanilla latte with oatmilk was top notch! I will come back in the future! read more
This place has became one of my go to places to visit over the last year. It is located in the center of several major streets on the border of Bucktown and Lincoln Park. There is street parking around the area if you are driving. Hexe is also close to a bus stop as well. I have never come on a weekday, but be prepared to stand in line if you are coming on the weekend. Sometimes the line is just 4 or 5 people, while other times it can be 10-20 groups of people long. You ideally would not want to come here if you are in a rush. This is the type of place where you spend 1 or 2 hours to just relax and enjoy the atmosphere or the people that you are with. There are several tables inside and there is also a large patio area outside. The biscuit breakfast sandwich is amazing! A little higher in price than the breakfast sandwiches at some restaurants, but it is worth every dollar. They also don't skimp on ingredients either. This breakfast sandwich is huge! The biscuit itself is super memorable. I've had a couple of their pastries from here as well. These are also amazing. For the coffees, they make some of their own syrups. They also serve alcoholic drinks here, but I have never tried any of them before. Many sound promising. read more
This place is always popping whenever I pass by. Yano I'm not a big coffee drinker but if any place has matcha, I'm down to try it. The cafe is pretty big with seating indoors and outdoors. Matcha latte: Their matcha is high quality. I felt more energized after drinking this latte. Nothing overbearing though. The latte itself is not that sweet so I added my own sugar cause I prefer sweet drinks. Tahini chocolate chip cookie: Omg their pastries looked absolutely heavenly and out of this world. Everything was unique but also huge in size, especially the cookies and the cinnamon buns. I love a good cookie so when I saw their tahini cookies, I couldn't resist. The cookie was easily the size of my head. The salt topping made it the perfect sweet n salty treat. Perfectly soft and chewy in the middle. Ugh I cant wait to go back and try their other pastries. They even have mini cakes shaped like skulls which is pretty neat. read more

I've been here a couple times--my favorite part is of course the outdoor patio space with lots of seating available and the cute string lights. It's a perfect place to sit on a nice day. I had previously gotten the biscuit breakfast sandwich and thought the biscuit was really well made and tasty. This time I got the spinach and feta croissant and wasn't honestly impressed and also would've appreciated if they offered to heat it up. The service is otherwise good and pretty fast, and there is some good interior seating available too. Overall I'd definitely come back when the weather's nice and hang out for a while! read more

Food: *basic, limited choices for both breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches Roast beef sandwich - 5/5 - loved the bread and the generous protein proportion Various pastries - cookies, cakes, etc. Drinks: Hot latte, Iced coffee, etc. - 5/5 - strong tastes since they roast and prepare the drinks in more old-school traditional ways instead of the conventional ways Ambience: Nice spacious setup inside and outside Service: No complaints. Good coffee and cool vibe! This is a good spot to hang out at and I like the creepy touches with the decor. There's a variety of coffee and alcoholic drinks offered here. I've enjoyed the coffee but the baked goods are what really surprised me - they're so good! I like coming back here just to try the different pastries. Recently I tried a cheese and salami roll (which tasted just like pizza but in a bread roll) and a cheese and egg puff pastry. The baked goods rotate but everything I've tried is delicious. A great coffee shop to try, and during the warmer months there's a really nice patio. Don't miss out on trying their baked goods! read more

Outseating was great to see ! There was no trash and looked clean , when walked in it's a cool environment very welcoming and small . Staff greeted me instantly I ordered Order : 16oz iced caramel vanilla latte with almond milk Tasted : very well , wasn't bitter and prepared quickly. . Thank you for a fast coffee ! We always notice a line coming out of this place when we make our weekly Costco trip, so we had to come check it out. The bang I find myself on their yelp and I see they do biscuit breakfast sandwich. You got me hook, line, and sinker! We ventured in this weekend early this weekend to beat the lines and there was actually plenty of space to sit. They have a wide variety of coffee and they also have a fully stocked bar if an adult beverage is something you're into. The breakfast sandwich is definitely in my top 5 and if you've see my reviews, you know I'm a fan of breakfast sandwiches. The biscuit is one of the best in the city and I love that they provide you with high quality jelly! Don't expect a vast menu. Bagel and biscuit sandwiches are the only items on their prepared foods breakfast menu. There is a variety of baked goods available too. Despite what there sign says, this place certainly DOES NOT suck! I'll be back. read more

Coffee Shop!!! * vegetarian friendly, dog friendly! If you love coffee and alcohol combine then this is your spot to go. The coldbrew here is phenomenal and it's strong which is amazing. Coming in everyone is super friendly and nice. If you come here often, they do have a punch card, whenever you order you coffee. The coffee here is really good, strong and tasty. It feels fresh. So say if you get A ice caramel Macchiato at Starbucks there drink would be a caramel ice latte this would have similar favor and taste. The coffee with the alcohol oh my gosh. No words can describe what I'm saying. Sip it, talk to friend or do work on your laptop. You are welcome to come in with you dog. Or bring your work. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. Love this spot! It's super busy and luckily for my friend and I we snagged a table. Lots of people here to chat, drink coffee, read, and do laptop work. I got the bacon and cheddar scone from their bakery which was huge and very tasty. I loved their chai latte also and will be back to try other coffee items! read more

Nice place to come for coffee, tea, or afternoon drinks on the patio. I had an iced latte, but there was a bit too much cinnamon. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to stay and work or relax. There's also limited parking in the back! read more

Cool vibe inside this coffee shop, very on brand. I mean look at the skull shaped cake we got! Super cute and tasty. They have a nice patio space as well. We got to Hexe coffee co around 1 pm and they were pretty busy. Even with the rush, the line went by quickly and we didn't wait long for our drinks. Originally stopped by to try the coffee but saw they also sell alcoholic drinks and had to try one! The Chai White Russian was amazing, spicy and sweet. My boyfriend enjoyed his matcha, not too sweet. We also tried the chuck and the supreme truth sandwiches, both very flavorful and would order again. read more
We moved to Chicago almost a year ago and have been wanting to check out Hexe for way too long just from the outside alone. The positive Yelp reviews are fully warranted after having went today. The coffee was delicious and the aesthetic here is amazing. Tons of outdoor seating and the pastries looked crazy good. The big seller for me was the breakfast sandwich. Having grown up in NY, this is the closest to a NY bagel that I've found in the Midwest and am finally able to take a sigh of relief. Not to mention the spook level for any horror fans out there the merch is on point. Can't wait to make Hexe a staple. read more

Really enjoying this cafe after having stopped by to hang out and get some reading done. The ambiance throughout the day is wonderful and at night they seem to light candles which makes for a good vibe. It's got a darker, somewhat quirky, victorian interior. They have all the typical coffee beverages which are great, teas, delicious baked goods, sandwiches, and alcoholic drinks as well that look well made. They check a lot of boxes for whatever you're looking for at any given moment. I strongly recommend Hexe! Only downside is that, at least so far in the winter, it gets a little chilly inside. read more

Is the outdoor seating open air? Or is it fully/partially enclosed? Are there heaters?
Outdoor seating is fully open air, it's not enclosed at all. Last time I was there a few weeks ago, they did not have heaters. Cant say if they might've recently added heaters or not.
Is Hexe ☕️ open for inside seating now since the current phase chicago is in does allow this? I have called several times and can't get anyone to answer the ☎️ so hope someone can help!
No, they aren't. I talked to the owner about it, and he says that they feel like since they have the outdoor seating, it wouldn't be worth the risk to the employees health to open up indoors.
