Lots of umbrellas to help while the trees grow nearby to provide shade given the recent renovations. Huge drink menu has lots of coffee and tea drinks. I'm not a coffee drinker but I can say that my wife found it to have all the coffee drinks she was considering and a couple interesting coldbrew options. I also noted there's quite an extensive beer menu full of great local options - lots of limited Maplewood and Dovetail brews so i would totally go back in the evenings for some outdoor pints. The food menu is a bit limited, most everyone was getting teh sausage breakfast sandwich which is egg, sausage, cheese on a very large biscuit. Such a cozy and cool themed spot to grab coffee by yourself or with a friend. It was quite busy on a Saturday morning, but service was quick. I tried an oat milk latte that was good--no complaints. They had plenty of pastry options and I opted for a Nutella bun. The dough was just okay (I wish it was softer) and I think they baked it with the Nutella filling because the Nutella seemed thick, gritty and reduced. I'll be honest - I meant, do you have some cinnamon honey vanilla latte. For a place that has coffee-inspired cocktails, I didn't think I'd get that response. So I got a hot coffee, sat at the bar by a guy who had all his devices and was writing... poetry? Code? I couldn't tell. He knew the baristas and they were sharing cool poems, including one titled "Origami Sex." The highlight was the cake. Skull-shaped chocolate cake was the best choice. The amount of times I've driven or walked by this place thinking, "wow, their lights and outdoor seating out are pretty cool looking. I really need to go here", is insane. Just like many millennial foods and coffee drinkers, places know how to entice people based on instagram-worthy look appeal. They know how to appeal to the masses, and considering this coffee house is right on the corner of a very busy interaction, they're doing it right. As far as our experience, well, it was too damn cold to be sitting out on the huge patio (yes, HUGE). We decided ti just get our drinks to-go. On a Sunday night, the place had a solid amount of people there. I love that they serve beer, and alcoholic coffee drinks in addition to just typical coffee. While my basic gay ass just ordered a small black iced coffee, my friend ordered the Chai White Russian, which we both tried and thought it was AMAZING. The only reason I didn't feel this place deserved a full five stars is because the staff didn't go out of their way to make us feel welcomed or show much care in providing friendly service. I know sometimes that's asking for a lot now-a-days but more often than not, that is just as important as the food/drink itself for an experience when you try new places. You always remember the places with great customer service. Hopefully my next visit here, the staff will be a bit more upbeat. read more

Well, this might be my new favorite coffee spot in the city. Not only are the drink options delicious and plentiful, but prices are extremely reasonable. On my first visit, I just had an iced coffee, which was quite good. On the second visit, only a day later, I tried the matcha and some food - excellent. Throw in the hip vibe that feels more like a great spot in Denver (I say that as a compliment), and you've got a perfect addition to the neighborhood. read more

Asked a friend if he knew any cool coffee shops in this area. Ended up going here and it did not disappoint. I'm from the suburbs and love going and discovering new places in the city, and this place is just a great modern city coffee shop. Decor is nice with a large patio(especially loved the dog bowl and water cooler). Service was great as well. The girl working the front recommended me a latte when I asked what the best "sweet drink" was. Ended up getting that with salted caramel and oat milk, which was VERY good. My girl had one with lavender which was great as well and the prices weren't bad either! Only downside was the parking being a bit of a pain, but that's Chicago for you... This cafe is amazing, the vibes are off the charts. They brew their own coffee and have made the place look stunning. A modern twist on a rustic cafe. The walls are black-grey and have exposed vines hanging and sleek tables. The bakery side is awesome, they have such unique twists on favorites like the chocolate chip cookie I got which had a hint of tahini in it. The cortado I got was also great. This is such a fun happy coffee shop! They have great coffee, espresso drinks with alternative milk options, lots of pastries, cocktails, beer, etc. Friendly service and lots of COVID precautions being taken. There's a huge amazing patio for outdoor seating. Really easy to be socially distanced there. And inside they've spaced out tables in an effort to do the same. Masks required. We got black coffee, Irish coffee, and a yummy red ale to help celebrate my bday. The beer was way better than we expected - better than some beers we've had at bars! The pastries were yummy (especially the lemon Rosemary scone). My daughter loved her chocolate skull cake and stole some bits of the salted chocolate chip tahini cookie too. I had been out shopping with a friend and we started craving a hot coffee. We chose Hexe Coffee Co because it was nearby. Wow! Did we get lucky! Situated on a busy corner, it seemed like it might feel more like a chain operation. Boy was I wrong. It had a rustic, urban feel with unique artwork. There was an area for live music too. I was very surprised and impressed. While we were there, a few local people came in, making it totally feel like neighborhood spot. One guy came in with his dog and told us his dog loves to "go for coffee". The coffee and pastries were beyond delicious. They roast their own beans and offer cafe items, beer and cool cocktails too. My cinnamon latte was rich and creamy smooth. I tried a pastry called a candle and let me tell you, I could eat one everyday! The guys behind the counter were so laid back and friendly. Their amazing customer service will make me remember this cool local spot. Outside there is a great area with tons of seating and little twinkle lights. Seems like it would be a great spot to sit and sip, while watching all the action of that busy intersection. They do offer parking in the back, which makes it easy for people like me to return since I live downtown. I will definitely check this place out again! read more

Really popular, absolutely bangin' coffee. I have been meaning to stop by for a while, but it's kind of out of the way so I hadn't gotten a chance until this weekend. I'm so glad I did. The place was super cute with a witch/supernatural theme, and the bathroom was painted green with fake plants covering the walls. I got a matcha latte, which I thought was reasonably priced for how good it was. High quality matcha and luxuriously foamed milk. I absolutely love going into Hexe. I'm someone who enjoys horror movies, darker colors, and "spooky season" year round, so going here is always a blast. They utilize lots of black in their space and I love it! The staff is polite and takes your order quickly and without issue. I always enjoy their chai lattes, but I've heard from friends that their coffee is delicious as well. Having not had lunch yet, I was super excited to see a turkey sandwich on the food menu with Brie, arugula, green apple, and hot honey. When my sandwich came, there was no arugula, Brie, or hot honey - just turkey, a little apple, and lettuce & mayo. It was okay, and the bread was particularly good, but it was such a letdown compared with what I thought I was getting. I'm sure sandwiches are not their main game, and supplies can be hard to come by these days. I just wish someone would have alerted me that I would get something different than was on the menu so I could have chosen something else that I would have liked better. I'll be a return customer because of the location, but next time I'll go for other items like drinks and pastries where I know better what I'll get. read more

ONE OF MY FAVORITE SPOTS IN CHICAGO!! A must-visit. Went for their first drag show event a few days ago and it was an absolute blast! Entire shop is occult themed, but not to a gaudy Hocus Pocus extent. The drinks all come in special black cups and saucers, and are absolutely delicious. This place is so cute!! Went here on a first date and it honestly couldnt have been more perfect! They have a beautiful patio set up with string lights. Some tables have umbrellas, which is always great to see. They share a small parking lot with a leasing company which is always a plus in my book! Plus lots of street parking available if needed. Roasted: I love this coffee shop. I'd been here before but this was our first time here together. It has the most amazing outdoor patio with tons of seating, umbrellas and plenty of indoor seating as well. Friendly staff - we were greeted when we walked in. They offer sugar free vanilla as their only SF offering. We got our lattes in for here mugs with a nice heart on them as latte art. Absolutely delicious - perfect temperature, perfect creaminess and perfect balance of espresso. They roast their coffee in house and they have a full bar line up for later in the day. Would highly recommend this place and I will be back for sure. Unroasted: the location is great with awesome patio in the front. When you walk in it feels like a bar. You have a menu that offers a Malort cocktail. You have to be prepared for that. The staff was friendly and greeted as we walked in. Had my sugar free vanilla and half half available. Coffee came out in great time and even had latte art. The temp was spot on and I was able to start drinking. The flavor of coffee was great and the vanilla was just enough to contour act with the espresso. I would highly recommend this place. Must visit! read more

THE SHORT: overall, i like Hexe and think i would come back. excellent service, though i'm glad i got there early! by 10am, there was a line out the door and then some. i paid just under $10 before tip for a scone and a cortado. the scone (mixed berry and citrus that day) was excellent. the cortado was well-made (kudos to the baristas here) but i don't love their espresso blend. THE LONG: this was a good place to work, except for the noise. ample seating and, even when it was busy, most people were ordering to-go (though, granted i was in on a saturday). there was wifi and access to outlets. the hours are also loooooong, they're open early and late. hexe has a broad variety of choices, for food and drink alike. in addition to coffee and tea drinks, they have cocktails, neat! all fairly affordable. many of the pastries just have a label that says there's a rotating selection, so you have to ask what they are that day, but the register worker was friendly and patient so i didn't mind this. they also made sure i got set up with a punch card, and man am i a sucker for a physical punch card. i got a cortado and a mixed berry scone, both of which i received very quickly. from what i could tell, people weren't waiting long for their orders even when there was a huge line. i didn't think their espresso was very good, hence losing a star. sure, coffee is bitter, but their blend doesn't really have any notes beyond bitter. wish i could say i thought that because of the sweetness of the scone, but i tried the cortado first! the scone was very good when i did try it, though. would definitely get that again. i would probably get a matcha or a chai for a drink next time, though. they play fun music and, well, you just can't beat the decor. aesthetically, this is probably my favorite chicago cafe :) my one qualm about the set-up is that the line blocks off the dish bin, so i had to ask where that was. the barista i asked (manager, maybe?) was very nice about directing me to it even though it was so busy, though! it was absolutely worth my visit, and i'd love to come back on a late afternoon/early evening and try something from their cocktail menu read more

Wonderful cold brew I've been meaning to come here for quite some time but don't live in walking distance -- finally came on a drive back from the office to home and so happy that I did! Location -- of coming via car add on about 5 minutes for traffic at this 6-way intersection and finding street parking. I didn't have any issue finding parking on the street right in front at around 12pm on a Monday. Venue -- there's a spacious patio with ample outdoor seating and then inside has a ton of seating as well. The vibe inside is also clean and eclectic without being too in your face and distracting. If I were in college, this would definitely be a go-to for a spot to study. read more

We were able to get a spot and head in side. The lane was long with maybe 12 people a head of us. NO SEATS WERE AVAILABLE. While standing in line my friend told me to go get a table and chair. Thank gosh. I got a macchiato, feta spinach croissant and Rosemary thyme muffin. Then added a chocolate creamed covered skull! I loved all the food we ate everything only leaving crumbs and not one drop of coffee went to waste. The decor for the place was awesome, goth themed. Which didn't explain the posh crowd but it is what it is. This place needs more locations with more space. I loved it and it is worth a try but sadly because of the crowd and not being able to move to easily around the shop I won't be returning. However! Maybe in the summer months due to outside area. Location, location, location. Hexe Coffee Co. occupies a prime corner lot that allows for an expansive patio with plenty of seating. Though there is scant parking, street parking is free. More importantly, my husband who is picky about his espresso thought it was very, very good. I drink lattes usually with a little bit of some kind of sweetener; my husband neglected to ask for my usual sugar free flavor and forgot to grab me any sweetener and even without any of that my latte was luscious. read more

Based on their matcha alone I'd give it 2 stars. It tastes like they use a low grade cooking matcha as opposed to Japanese ceremonial matcha for drinks. I wouldn't order that again. However, based on the environment I give it a higher rank, I dig the color scheme and overall interior style. I also like that it has a patio area (even though it's on a busy intersection it's just far enough away so that it wasn't annoying). Experience: Came to Hexe Coffee Co. to catch up with a friend. He was able to get a table of two during a weekend evening. Even though the space may be big, it can get tight fairly quick. Parking: Parking seemed to be fairly easy. I was able to park on the street and it was free parking. I would want to say Hoyne has a lot of free parking. Just be aware of signs. It was also brought to my attention that actually do have a parking lot. Just ensure you look at the signs that they own the spots! Worth: This place is amazing hands down. During the day it is a great place to get work down. During the evening, it is a great place to have a drink and catch up with friends. The time I went here, they actually had live music playing. The drinks are also excellent. I had the Matcha Latte (As picture below) and it was really good. Overall, you should go here at least twice!
