Came here before our spring training game. Staff also had baseball gear on and it was so welcoming and fun! Service was top notch servers were excellent at having small talk and being efficient and everything was perfect. Our server recommended getting the cinnamon roll as an appetizer which I appreciate because it did hold us over until our food got to us. The best dish award goes to the pulled pork sandwich although next time I will skip the fries and order hashbrowns as the side. I will be back 10/10

Came here this past weekend for breakfast and it didn't disappoint. The breakfast meatloaf was so unique and so flavorful. The service was efficient and our server was really friendly. It wasn't super busy as we went really early so it made for an enjoyable environment with an ability to take the time and eat. My husband loved that Texas benedict. The cornbread was so lite and soft and the carnitas had so much depth of flavor and were incredibly tender.

The food here was such a good home style breakfast. I was obsessed with all the servers and hostesses, seriously the sweetest woman. The sausage patties were incredible. Overall good for a basic breakfast p

Absolutely the best for breakfast in the area. The pineapple juice mimosa was perfectly balanced and the green chile skillet with carnitas was delicious-just the right amount of heat. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The ambience is lively bit not too loud. And the service was friendly and fast. It's a quick walk across the park from the Sheraton and a great place to meet for breakfast!

Four of us stopped by yesterday for an early breakfast. The main draw was their infamous giant pancake we'd seen online -- but funny enough, none of us actually ordered it. At $24.99 for one pancake? Yeah... we passed. We started with the cinnamon roll as an "appetizer." Flavor-wise, it was solid, and they definitely didn't skimp on the frosting, very sweet and generous. I went with the breakfast sandwich (with sausage) and a side of breakfast potatoes. The sandwich was okay... nothing bad, but nothing amazing either. I ended up adding salt and pepper just to give it a little kick. The potatoes, though... oof. I hate to say it, but they tasted like they were cooked in motor oil. Maybe it was a new pan or some old oil, but either way, they just weren't good. Even after salt, pepper, and hot sauce, I couldn't finish them; and that's saying something because I love breakfast potatoes. Total bummer. On the bright side, the service was excellent. Everyone was super friendly, and the place itself had a cozy, homestyle vibe, like somewhere you'd stumble on up north. All in all, great people and atmosphere, but the food just missed the mark for us. Sadly, I don't think we'll be back.

Henhouse cafe started as a small operation in 2010 and has grown to four locations here in AZ. They are located in Mesa, two in Gilbert, and the fourth just opened in Tempe. They have won "Best of Gilbert" awards for many years. We ate at the 3rd installment right across the road from Sloan Park in Mesa. My HH breakfast sandwich was delicious. It's a large biscuit with fried chicken, cheddar cheese, bacon, fried egg, and gravy. The kids could only eat less than half of the huge chocolate chip pancakes. These were big, but the "mom's famous pancake" we saw come out to other tables was huge! The Texas benedict was a fun twist on a favorite; carnitas on cornbread with green chile hollandaise. Everything was tasty and the farmhouse decor is cute. We all walked out full and with leftovers. They offer 10% off daily for service members and 15% on Mondays. Check out this great breakfast option in the East Valley.

Love this place.. Plenty of parking, seating & good food selections. Sat at the bar since it's noticed they had a large private group & short staffed, this would allow me quicker service & no extra walking for the staff. I was served by Trevor, he is a good man, attentive, friendly & quick to help. I am very impressed by Trevors work ethic, therfore I want people to know the younger generation can be great. Thank you Trevor. Ordered the chicken & waffles; coffee is hot & good, the waffles were perfect & the chicken was a little chewy, but it's fried so what can I expect. Love this place, get here, see my friend Trevor & try anything on the menu, it's delicious .

I had Natasha as my server that morning we came in for Breakfast, she's the most sweetest person ever . I placed an order for the strawberry waffles and the breakfast combo . Everything came out hot and fresh and full of flavor . I absolutely love the decor a hidden local gem with farmhouse style decor with home style cooking !! Please ask for her when you come here she's super attentive and absolutely amazing!!!

Came here for breakfast with the family on a weekend. It was pretty busy but we still got sat pretty quickly. I like how spaced out the tables are, despite it being pretty busy I didn't feel crammed or too close and personal with the neighboring tables. Everyone enjoyed their meals, my chicken was a bit rubbery I won't lie so I definitely would opt for a different entree next time. The waffle was yummy.

I was very pleased by the quality and service at Henhouse. High quality sausage along with the delicious potatoes to go along with my eggs. What a difference a "mom & pop" place is compared to a chain. I always seek out a local restaurant than a chain. If you're near a Henhouse, GO!

There is plenty of bar space if you're popping in for a drink.. of course, the actual bar that runs along the shelves of liquor, and there is also a bar on the other side of a roll-up door, perfect for people who come with dogs. There's also a bar space that runs along the window that separates the small dining room and the patio. There are a few tables inside as well as some bigger tables on the patio. The patio is nice with lots of shrubs right outside the rail. The murals on the wall are pretty darn cool - - they're like enlarged historic photos of the area. I love them! And I'm not sure who's giant face is hanging on the ceiling but it's short a spark conversation. The menu here has a little something for everyone. There's the regular loaded fries and wings, salads, and a nice election burgers. We ordered the Philly Salad and the Very Summer Salad with a side order of fries. They make their own ranch, and it is good. I will say they don't seem to skim on salad ingredients either - - the Philly salad was covered with shaved beef, and my berry salad had a lot of chicken and tons of blue cheese. The fries were delicious - - slightly seasoned and crispy. This place is clearly dog friendly. In fact the day we went there was a sweet Pitbull named Daisy who literally hopped up on a bar stool and sat there like a little angel the entire time. The bar had a dog full of water that they sat down on the counter next to her owner's beer. They also have dog biscuits to give. It made my day to see that sweet little dog hanging at the bar having a treat. This really is kind of a spot that feels like it's probably the hangout spot of many people. Great bar food and a good selection of beers. What's not to love?

The oysters are a must, the steak is cooked perfectly, and everything is plated so thoughtfully it really feels like a full experience, not just a meal. The dinner staff has also always been attentive, friendly, and on point. That said, I recently came in for brunch and had a very different experience. I'm a huge pancake person, so I was excited to try the strawberry pancakes, but they were honestly disappointing. They were soggy, lacked any fluff, and had more of a cornbread texture than a pancake. The strawberry topping also wasn't very appetizing--it seemed like it was meant to be more of a sauce, but it didn't quite work. I completely understand that higher-end restaurants like to get creative with their dishes, but I think some basics like pancakes should still be done really well. I'll definitely be back for dinner, but I'd probably skip brunch next time.

While we were dining, it got very busy & as we were wondering where everyone was going to sit, people started walking through the glass door between the two eateries. Drinks: lots of choices. We opted for the $16 horchata flight (flan, strawberry, mocha, espresso). The former two were my favs because I don't like coffee, but my sister def enjoyed the latter two. Food: hefty breakfast sandwich w/ sausage, cream ala creme (biscuit & fruit), BHH French toast w/ bacon. The sammy was made w/ three eggs so it was a large sammy, kinda messy. I think they need to spread out the eggs a bit more so they cover more space & don't slip out from between the bun as easily. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy. The French toast was also a hefty serving, especially w/ the bacon tacked on. The biscuit came out w/o the whipped cream, but the young gentleman quickly brought it out when I pointed out it was M.I.A. It was not as sweet as I was expecting; not sure I'd get that again. Service: great. Order at the counter, get a number, sit down, & it's brought to you -- and it was brought out very quickly. There's only one register but as people kept piling in & crowding the front door, the young dude who served us was fast to assist & soon came out w/ a tablet to start taking orders, too. When ready, go up to the counter and order, bringing back a table number for delivery (or to go) The service was very friendly, and the food came out quick. They do have alcohol as well for those who like a boozy brunch. As for the food, I judge places by their biscuits and gravy... And this was one of my favorites. The biscuit was juicy, buttery perfection and the gravy was real, not the bland packet gravy some places use. The bacon came out at the exact crispness for the best melt in your mouth bite, and they were huge pieces. The hashbrowns were good, nothing fancy though. Eggs cooked perfect (over easy for me). I also got the mocha iced latte and it was very chocolate forward, not much coffee flavor, but still tasty. My only complaint, and I mean ONLY complaint, is that price point. I spent $25 for the biscuits and gravy with a coffee and left hungry. I think had they given me two biscuits instead of just one, maybe that would fix everything. Nevertheless, I do recommend trying this place out

SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS…read more It was time for a re-review of Charleston's. Companion and I arrived at 5 and were seated immediately. We were going to try to eat the same menu as last time or as close to it as possible. We started off with the Dynamite Shrimp. As with the last time it was excellent. Also was the warm spinach and artichoke dip. It too was excellent though I am not understanding why they include sour cream and salsa with it as neither worked well with the flavor of the dip. We ordered non-alcoholic cocktails. Companion ordered a strawberry margarita which was quite good. I ordered the blackberry punch, which was a big mistake. The drink was cloyingly sweet and the flavor was overwhelming. After a few sips I could not drink anymore of it and had to send it back. As a non-alcoholic cocktail it was a disaster. Companion asked if they could make a cranberry margarita and the wish was fulfilled nicely. I finished companion's strawberry margarita which was decent. For main courses, companion had the baby backs which were ordered the last time. A tad overcooked but not bad. It was accompanied with excellent french fries and beans which were identical in taste to ranch beans that come in a can. The beans remained untouched after a taste of them. The fillet was not on the menu this year and instead was flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce. No baked potato anymore and no salad offered. While the steak was reasonably cooked, the smear of sauce over it had exactly by count 4 peppercorns in it. The accompaniment was garlic mashed potatoes, which were dense and without any charm at all. We had asked our waiter Matthew to make sure to include 2 batches of croissants in a bag to take home. Not only was no bread service offered to us, but the ones to take home were completely forgotten by our waiter. The burgundy mushrooms that we had last time are no longer a side dish but are an extra charge now, though the flavor is still top shelf. Desserts were the same as last time, and the quality and flavors did not change from the last time. Service was nice, but slow with the meal taking more than an hour and a half. Removing 1 star and almost removing 2 stars. This restaurant will be evaluated again in the future. 4 stars
