Scheduled a TV install. While searching for the Geek Squad, I found their add. The same day service was appealing as I needed it installed before a party. Got a text 30 minutes before the guy was supposed to show up, saying that he was no longer available. Then they asked to reschedule 4 days later as that was their next available appointment. WTW? Didn't offer a discount for the inconvenience or anything. Almost felt like this was common practice for them to get customers. I called Best Buy and had someone come out the next day. You only have one shot at a first impression, and they did not impress. read more

Update: The keypads and the siren repeatedly fell off my walls and caused dings in my floors. When I spoke with Hello Tech about it, they said it was a known problem. If it was a known problem, they could have informed me. I would have opted for the screw mount. Fortunately, I had the foresight to rescue the screws from the trash after the installer threw them out. When Hello Tech offered to come back and screw them in, I declined, because they do not require their techs to search for electrical wires before drilling into walls. Since the devices will be located close to switches, I did not want to risk a screw going into a wire. I have the proper tools, so I will do it myself. So much for hiring them to save me some time. I do not recommend this company. read more

David R. ID# 24721 is the Hello Tech employee I am reporting on. Dave R. showed up extremely hyper so much so that it raises questions in my mind as to what was behind this. He also was wearing an old pair of swim trunks and a ratty old shirt. Really. First thing he went and installed a sensor on my front door without asking. When I saw this, I told him I did not want a sensor on my front door and for some reason he got upset. Hey, it's my house and my decision. Later he told me I needed to get a permit from the police to respond to an alarm. When I told him I did not think I wanted/needed the police he once again was not happy with me. He was also extremely rude to the Simply Safe girl on the phone who was extremely helpful identifying and resolving an issue I caused with the Base Station. She was very helpful and did not nothing to deserve his verbal behavior. Lastly when I wanted to test the system he got terribly upset once again telling me he had install 157 systems and no one ever wanted to test the system. Then he calls me an "arrogant ass hole". Seriously! At this point I told him to get the "F" out of my house. He then decided to call me a "Niger" followed by a bunch of other not so nice words. Is this how a Hello Tech employee is to behave? I have already reported this to Hello Tech three times. On May 27th and was told that I would hear back the next day. This did not happen. It is now June 5st and I am still waiting. I have also reported this to Simply Safe and obtained their address so I can send in a written complaint. It is not hard at all to install the Simply Safe system. Any issues you may have or run into the Simply Safe staff who man the phones can provide whatever guidance you may need. read more

I can't even give One star but had to so I could YELP. I have had to email HelloTech 2 times and I have phoned the company 4 times requesting a refund due to the service or lack of on November 8th. HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED: On November 8th I called HelloTech to help with connecting my Bose surround sound system to my Sony Brava TV. After an hour "Jon" a very friendly tech, reported that I was needing a new sound system due to no power, NOT WORKing, System shot! I wasn't too happy about this BUT. After he left I just wasn't satisfied with his conclusion. There were several things he said about the system that just didn't make sense to me. He used the remote to try to turn on the system, unsuccessfully. He also stated that there was a little blue light on the system that didn't turn on. These were why he concluded that the system was SHOT. Well I looked closely at the spot he said there should be a blue light and honestly if you really look closely it's a screw not a light at all. I decided to call the "Bose' company and tell them what I was trying to do. The BOSE person had me check a few very basic steps. "She" had me try turning on the system by using the switch on the unit its self, rather than by using the remote. YA... it had power after all. Next, she had me check if the plugs where plugged into the correct spot, Oops, I needed to reverse the plugs AND NOW the system was working just fine. I didn't have to buy a new system after all! I guess I should be happy; I saved thousand of dollars. SO, the end of this story is, that I feel I shouldn't pay HelloTech the fee to repair my system. The steps were so very simple, I should have been able to fixit myself. But I decided to call the little guy, compared to GeekSquad and get some help. The tech showed up to get my computers hardwired. I spent 20-30 with him walking through the house and showing him where my computers and everything is. We talked through a plan of where to drill and where to run the cables. Seemed to be going just fine. Then he tells me he left his drill on the last job and needed to drive back and get it. Said it'll take him 30-40 min and he'll be right back. Never came back. I called the next day and asked to speak to a supervisor. One was not available according to the rep. I explained what happened. They apologized and said they would have a supervisor call me within 24-48 hours to sort this out. That was over a week ago and no one has ever called. What a worthless company. Don't waste your time. read more

Very friendly and knowledgeable about installing my Simplicam doorbell camera. Jon was able to put it at an angle to get a better view. I'm not sure if they can all do that but this guy was almost like a carpenter! Also was able to walk me through the procedure of being able to get on my cameras and view them. read more

Wow. Just had my Ring doorbell installed by a Hello Tech employee. I had hoped this company would be a great option going forward as I switch over to a smart home, but after this experience I would not use them again or recommend them. My tech was curt and abrupt. He did not seem familiar with the Ring doorbell based on a couple of comments he made. He then informed me that it would not fit on my vinyl siding, so it had to either be propped up on the bottom with wood (which would be very unsightly) or be mounted horizontally. Those were the only options he gave me. (I find it hard to believe that no one else had had this issue - again, someone who had done numerous of these installs should have been able to brainstorm more ideas) For mounting it horizontally he did not mention at all that the video feed would then also be turned. As the expert installer, he should have informed me of this. He didn't tell me until after he had drilled into my vinyl and mounted it that there is no way to flip the video in the app. Also missed a chunk of my front porch and walkway because he didn't have me verify the view before he drilled holes into my vinyl siding. Awesome. Thanks dude. Then he tried to pocket the extra screws that came with the kit. I told him no, I wanted to keep them (for when I get someone who actually knows what they're doing to fix his mess, I want all the pieces). He then seemed pissed I wouldn't let him keep what I had paid for. Overall, a horrible experience. I am so unhappy with the job done and will need to figure out what to do now to fix this. read more

Booked tv install online at Hellotech.com indicating a 70" tv to be installed over a fireplace, have mount, new construction reinforced drywall specifying I could not help due to leg amputation! Had coupon, got confirmation, assigned Yi as provider. Got phone & text reminder day prior, put hold on $158 charge. 1 hr prior got call from Yi saying he had a job interview &would be late. Asked if I could help. NO as I indicated prior! He claimed it would be 69 more for over fireplace. I told him I had quote & had told them over fireplace. He then failed to show up or call! I called customer NO service twice (disconnected 1 time). Re dispatched saying 1st scheduled install was "unserviceable". Called Yi and asked why "unserviceable" and he hung up! Rescheduled but increased cost 70.00! Canceled 2nd service online at that time as status said no time available! Very poor customer service. Have no tv installed after 3 hour wait! I had a serious computer problem after the last windows 10 update. Ray, the Geekatoo Tech came to my home right on time. The problem took some time to fix but he knew what needed to be done right away. What impressed me most is how Ray took the time to fix the problem and was in no hurry to leave because he wanted to make sure my system was back in total working order...no shortcuts. Geekatoo obviously uses only very experianced Techs who know what they are doing. I'll be using Geekatoo and Ray anytime I have a computer problem I can't solve myself. read more

I paid hellotech $260 to mount a tv, a shelf and to hook up my electronics. It took the tech 6 hours. My shelf is wobbly and unstable, my wall has 8 holes in it because the tech didn't measure correctly and the tech didn't set up any of the electronics because it "wasn't in his contract." I pad a lot of money for a shitty service, I would strongly recommend everyone take their business elsewhere. I wish Yelp would let me post pictures. Do yourself a favor pay a couple bucks more and call Bestbuy. read more
