Overhyped restaurant, but good vibes for boujie people who can afford it. $19 for 8 pieces of sushi roll, very small in size. The spicy pork ramen is also mediocre; I don't like ginger in my ramen personally. We did like the karaage option on the kids menu. Our server was also nice and did refill our drinks. We like to have early dinners when on vacation to beat the crowds. So no wait for us! So glad we stopped by Hello Sunshine! Unknowingly, we came during their Happy Hour 4-5pm - even on a Saturday. We ordered one of each of the happy hour items (50% certain rolls) because they all sounded good. The rolls were all pretty good. The California roll was exceptional - they use snow crab. The snow crab was a game changer, adding a sweet taste and denser texture to the standard CA roll. The toro was nice and fatty. Our server was so helpful with our kids food allergies. I had the noodles. BIG MISTAKE. everyone else's dishes were better. I would pass on the crispy nori chips. They were ok but the more I ate it the stronger the taste was. I would get the scallop ceviche again. It was light and refreshing. My friends got the pressed salmon and the other pressed sushi and they both said it was amazing and filling. We came for dinner on a Tuesday evening in mid August for our 8:30 reservation. They were pretty busy, so would recommend making a reservation if you want to be sat right away - there were plenty of open reservations on open table and we made ours only 2 hours ahead of time. We asked to sit at a booth specifically, which they were kindly able to accommodate. Service was very efficient, and the vibe was upscale Asian fusion with a mountain town charm. Everything we ordered came quickly and was incredible. While relatively simple menu items, the miso soup and spicy tuna roll were some of the best we've had! Recently dined here for dinner with 11 people at one of the round tables. Reservations were easy and service was friendly. The food was very overpriced and did not live up to the hype. The chirashi-like bowl had an off-putting yuzu vinaigrette that just didn't work, it was barely edible. The ramen was serviceable, but nothing to write home about. Such a cool atmosphere, especially the enclosed fire pits you can sit around. The food and service were great. It was very busy since we visited at the end of a holiday week, so drinks took a little longer initially, but everything else came out quickly and was delicious. The food was incredible. We ordered the bbq salmon roll, the chefs roll, Maui wowie, and California Roll. I loved that they used real Snow crab for the California roll (not imitation crab). The hamachi was so fresh, it melted in my mouth. Flavors of all the rolls were incredible and delicious. We also ordered the chili oil (extra $3) to add to the chicken ramen (not pictured). Located in the heart of downtown Bannf, this little restaurant is tucked away in the corner and can be easy to miss. Really does not look like much from the outside, but when you step in, its a very cute place. The fire table with community seating on a rainy or cold day looks very cozy. They also have a projector wall with different videos playing - what an unique concept. Now, coming to the food we ordered a bunch and it was all top notch. We got the chicken tenders and sweet potato fries for the kids. They came out quick - which is always a blessing. For the adults, we got the matcha margarita, smoked old fashioned and an expresso wine shot. The matcha marg was my favorite - so creamy. For apps, we had the tuna tartare and seaweed crisps. Tun tartare was so fresh and the seaweed crisps were well balanced. We got the happy hour sushi (4 sushi rolls were on happy hour) and a couple of pork belly ramen bowls. The rolls were good, however order was delayed in serving, the servers bringing dishes didn't use same names/terms as was ordered causing confusion, rolls fell apart upon placement on the table. Came here at 9:40PM. Place was packed and got seats. Food and drinks come out when they're ready so it's hot and fresh. We ordered the chicken karaage and spicy tempura shrimp. I really enjoyed the leek sauce on the karaage and totally recommend. The spicy tempura shrimp felt like walnut shrimp with spicy chili sauce which tasted okay, but not that worth in my opinion. Peach Iced Tea Basically a highball with little bit of peach. Can't really taste the peach, but more enjoyable than the last drink Lychee (something?) sour Going from slammer to this might have been a mistake but felt like there wasn't much flavor and it just seemed like a normal drink with a canned lychee on top Service : lacking Tried to make another order of drinks and caught someone's attention only for them to say I'm not your server. Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. We started off with the beef tataki, yellowtail carpaccio, scallop ceviche, and seaweed salad. Perfect way to start the meal, if you ask me. All provided a variety of tastes and textures in each dish that combine for a wonderful bite. Skewers came out next. We ordered the yakitori skewers, shishito peppers, mushroom skewers, and shrimp skewers. Surprisingly, the mushroom might have been my favorite. Finished off with the rainbow press, toro salmon sashimi, bluefin tuna sashimi, and a5 wagyu. However, a huge downfall came because of the sushi chef. We ordered the sashimi Big Boat. Within a piece of the fish, there was a large bone. This is a huge concern when consuming pieces of raw fish. It resulted in being stabbed in the mouth, not being able to eat 1 of the 12 pieces of sashimi, and being very fearful to eat the rest of our meal. Disappoint because if not for this, I would have given the restaurant 5 stars overall. As a point of information: we notified our wait staff, who said he would let the chef know. No comp or additional apologies were made (I.e not charging us for the sashimi, bringing us fresh sashimi, offering a free desert, etc.) read more

Beautiful restaurant with surprisingly good food! Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect but we got a ton of food (karaage, ramen, rolls, edamame) and everything was great. The edamame was seasoned with salt and lemon pepper (?) added a nice citrus touch, which I'm always a fan of. The watermelon sake slush was so yummy - kind of dangerous honestly because you can't taste any alcohol and the slush texture was very fine / smooth. Not pictured is a Lychee cucumber martini, which was also fantastic and disappeared pretty quickly. Happy Hour pricing is unbeatable for drinks and food, and our server was super sweet. The interior feels very warm and cosy with all the earth tones, tiles, and wood details. There's also a couple fire pits that really make it feel welcoming. We had given up on getting a table at Ramen Arashi and were walking back to our car and spotted this place. Yes, looked boujie from inside and out, but a hot bowl of ramen after a long day at the Icefields is what we were craving and in we went. We were too tired to realize how grubby and tired we looked in our hiking attire, but honestly neither patrons or servers gave us dirty looks. Menu had plenty of tasty options, we had the green tempura and chicken karaage to start, and chicken and veggie ramens for our mains. oh my god! the worst Tonkotso Ramen ever!! Like it's so bland!!! Wth! Our group dine here seeing a high rating and we all ordered tonkotsu ramen each and it was the worst of all the ramen i've ever had. Like where is the rich and thick broth?? This is by far the best restaurant in BANFF for ramen and sushi. I'm salivating as I write this review just thinking back to the meal we had. My 6 friends and I split various sushi rolls including the spicy tuna and avocado roll (both incredible). We also tried a few of the ramen bowls, all just as yummy. The environment is unique and they even have karaoke to keep the party going! Destin, our server was awesome, and totally convinced us to try the chocolate sake bombs. By far the worst meal we've had in Banff. I was once told that if the sushi chef makes good sushi rice you should compliment him/her. This was the opposite. 6 of us dined here on a Tuesday night and we had 6 different rolls, 4 appetizers, 2 bottles of sake, one beer and 1 non sushi item. Not counting the alcohol, only two appetizers were decent. The biggest problem was the sushi paste...err...I mean rice. It was TERRIBLE. Then, I found 2 pin bones in the salmon. Cardinal sin. I can't understand the reviews except to guess those who gave this place a high review didn't have the sushi. Or they have no idea what sushi is supposed to be like. The service was very fast and everyone got their food very quickly. Certain rolls on the menu are half price so we ordered the california roll, crunchy avocado roll, yellowtail roll, ahi tuna roll, and BBQ salmon roll. The base of each of the rolls were the same avocado/cucumber interior with the respective fish on top - we thought at least some of them would be embedded inside.
