This is by far the best restaurant in BANFF for ramen and sushi. I'm salivating as I write this review just thinking back to the meal we had. My 6 friends and I split various sushi rolls including the spicy tuna and avocado roll (both incredible). We also tried a few of the ramen bowls, all just as yummy. The environment is unique and they even have karaoke to keep the party going! Destin, our server was awesome, and totally convinced us to try the chocolate sake bombs. Came here at 9:40PM. Place was packed and got seats. Food and drinks come out when they're ready so it's hot and fresh. We ordered the chicken karaage and spicy tempura shrimp. I really enjoyed the leek sauce on the karaage and totally recommend. The spicy tempura shrimp felt like walnut shrimp with spicy chili sauce which tasted okay, but not that worth in my opinion. Drinks ordered from most favorite to least Jug of watermelon sake slammer By far the most enjoyable drink all night. I could have just ordered 2 jugs and been happy for the night. It was sweet and barely any hint of alcohol. It's 10 bucks for a glass during happy hour 4-5 pm fyi Kiushu umeshu A 2 oz plum sake iirc This was wonderfully flavored and definitely not something you see a lot. Worth a try. We would rank this as a 4.7. All of the sushi, from the Salmon to the shrimp tempura was excellent. The Raman was a good choice as was the chicken karage. Service was great and quick, plates are delivered as they are prepared. It's beautiful inside with large windows and new decor. If you are in Banff and are in the mood for Japanese food, don't hesitate. About $120 for two but we ordered a ton. read more

Beautiful restaurant with surprisingly good food! Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect but we got a ton of food (karaage, ramen, rolls, edamame) and everything was great. The edamame was seasoned with salt and lemon pepper (?) added a nice citrus touch, which I'm always a fan of. The watermelon sake slush was so yummy - kind of dangerous honestly because you can't taste any alcohol and the slush texture was very fine / smooth. Not pictured is a Lychee cucumber martini, which was also fantastic and disappeared pretty quickly. Happy Hour pricing is unbeatable for drinks and food, and our server was super sweet. The interior feels very warm and cosy with all the earth tones, tiles, and wood details. There's also a couple fire pits that really make it feel welcoming. However, a huge downfall came because of the sushi chef. We ordered the sashimi Big Boat. Within a piece of the fish, there was a large bone. This is a huge concern when consuming pieces of raw fish. It resulted in being stabbed in the mouth, not being able to eat 1 of the 12 pieces of sashimi, and being very fearful to eat the rest of our meal. Disappoint because if not for this, I would have given the restaurant 5 stars overall. As a point of information: we notified our wait staff, who said he would let the chef know. No comp or additional apologies were made (I.e not charging us for the sashimi, bringing us fresh sashimi, offering a free desert, etc.) read more

Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. We started off with the beef tataki, yellowtail carpaccio, scallop ceviche, and seaweed salad. Perfect way to start the meal, if you ask me. All provided a variety of tastes and textures in each dish that combine for a wonderful bite. Skewers came out next. We ordered the yakitori skewers, shishito peppers, mushroom skewers, and shrimp skewers. Surprisingly, the mushroom might have been my favorite. Finished off with the rainbow press, toro salmon sashimi, bluefin tuna sashimi, and a5 wagyu. By far the worst meal we've had in Banff. I was once told that if the sushi chef makes good sushi rice you should compliment him/her. This was the opposite. 6 of us dined here on a Tuesday night and we had 6 different rolls, 4 appetizers, 2 bottles of sake, one beer and 1 non sushi item. Not counting the alcohol, only two appetizers were decent. The biggest problem was the sushi paste...err...I mean rice. It was TERRIBLE. Then, I found 2 pin bones in the salmon. Cardinal sin. I can't understand the reviews except to guess those who gave this place a high review didn't have the sushi. Or they have no idea what sushi is supposed to be like. Overall, the quality of the chicken and noodles was good. However, the broth was not salty enough compared to the ramen at other places I've been to, which made the noodles taste bland. The service was very fast and everyone got their food very quickly. The aesthetic and decor, the layout, even the restrooms (individual, non gender specific, motion activated fixtures) were fantastic. Dining here is truly an experience. We made a reservation during happy hour and service was fantastic. My sushi rolls were tasty- though slim on the fish (not too surprising, it was happy hour). My husband really enjoyed his ramen and I tasted the broth, it was great. We had one of my favorite meals in Banff at this cute spot! A must-try is the Lobster Roll, which is worth getting two for a hungry group. Certain rolls on the menu are half price so we ordered the california roll, crunchy avocado roll, yellowtail roll, ahi tuna roll, and BBQ salmon roll. The base of each of the rolls were the same avocado/cucumber interior with the respective fish on top - we thought at least some of them would be embedded inside. We first came here for dinner and we had Liam taking care of us. He was very nice and accommodating, knows what he was doing. Food was great, more than we expected! We got the Spicy Pork Ramen and it was great! Pork was very tender and it was flavorful! We also got the Rainbow Oshi Sushi and we love it! The ambience is nice too! Very unique and interesting. Stopped at Hello sunshine on our way out of Banff. This restaurants decor is beautiful. They have Japanese bbq, sushi and ramen. We should have tried some of the sushi but we just got Ramen. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday right at opening (4pm) without reservation and were sat immediately at the sushi bar. Reservations are recommended though as this place gets busy quick, as they have happy hour from 4-5pm. Starting off, we decided to grab the Yakitori Skewers and Cheeseburger Gyoza as appetizers. 5/5! Yakitori was a great small bite to get our appetites going and it came out very quick! As well as the cheeseburger gyoza! 5/5! If anyone know's California's In n Out, it gave me the same vibe. The sauce made it very interesting and delicious! For entrees, we ordered the Maui Wowie roll and Chef's Roll for 50% off happy hour. I would have to say the Chef's Roll was my favorite, but they were both pretty good! The sushi chefs were hard at work behind the counter and their work did not go to waste. The sushi was authentic and refreshing! 5/5! For drinks, I would definitely highlight the watermelon sake slammer (slush), smoked ginger margarita, and strawberry aperol spritz. This sushi place is so cute! I would recommend ordering a flight of saki so you could try different ones. We loved the Tenbi, it's a little on the pricey side but worth it. The sushi rolls are very good, and I love the ambiance of the music and decor in the restaurant. Service was ok, I cannot say it was perfect. Our waitress kept talking to locals she knew outside so it was a little hard to get her attention. I ordered the miso- good portion, and has some Mushrooms mixed in Seaweed salad- very large portion, Great to share Rainbow roll- not a traditional rainbow roll, has the rice shaped like a rectangle and the sushi on top of it. Highly recommend this spot! First off, the restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous with unique interior decor. Our waiter was from New Zealand and made some great recommendations for food as well as things/hikes to do around Banff. I feel it's worth mentioning if you are looking to visit during peak hours. Server said though it's a sushi place primarily, their grilled steaks are a popular hit. So, let me start by saying I really, really wanted to love this. I know it's the mountains, and let's be honest: if you're expecting Hawaii-grade sushi, you're not with it. That being said, I think my husband and I experienced a very off night because, unfortunately, our food was a far cry from the multitude of positive reviews below. Let's get to it: 1. We ordered 2 sets of rolls for takeout, the chef's special and the Maui Wowie. The former has jalapeno, and the latter has mango. Why does this matter? There was absolutely *no* flavour in either roll. Like...none, aside from the old yellowtail that was mushy and on its last legs for the chef's roll. No mango for the maui wowie (tasted extremely watery and like it might be frozen in thin slices for convenience), no lime, jalapeno, or yuzu-kosho in the chef's roll (which SHOULD have a nice kick). The rolls were absolutely falling apart, and the rice didn't have any seasoning, to the point where I don't think sushi vinegar was used at all. 2. When we arrived to pick up our order, people seemed a little on the stressed and rushed side, even though it was pretty quiet in the main dining area itself. My husband and I both come from a food service background and noted that before we even got our food. 3. The rolls themselves were VERY small, and for $45 for 2 sets of 8, it wouldn't have been particularly filling for 2 people by any stretch. I'm all for small and full of flavour, but I would be lying if I said that this was a markup, even by mountain town standards. If we had spent the day hiking or were looking to be full after a couple of rolls...we would have been disappointed and, at that price point, do better. 4. When we called to discuss our order, they were very accommodating and offered a refund in full, which went super smoothly when we arrived to return things. The manager was super kind and understanding, and even offered us a free dessert (the Miso Pie), which was quite good. The venue itself does look fantastic and very "moody". Didn't sit down, so can't say more than that. Overall...maybe we went on an off night, maybe all the good reviews are enough to go by, but in all honesty, it's a future pass from us. If I'm completely honest: it's a trendy joint meant to attract the young and hip crowd for karaoke and drinks, as well as Instagram-worthy food. I get the hustle and love the decor, but we sure didn't get our end of the deal this time around and likely will not be back to try again. read more

I'm genuinely confused by why this place has such raving reviews. We picked this place because it looked decently busy while we were walking around and the reviews looked fantastic. I wasn't expecting sushi to blow my socks off in the mountains, but this place was far below my expectations. The sushi rolls (we ordered the maui wowie, chefs special, and spicy tuna) were so flavorless and even though I was hungry I could barely bring myself to finish them. The construction of the sushi rolls were bizarre; the rolls themselves only have avocado and cucumber then the fish is layered on top. The sushi rice didn't taste well seasoned at all and was mushy. We did order a chicken ramen which was OK. Overall, if it weren't for the happy hour pricing of 1/2 off sushi I would be downright mad I paid that much for the meal we had. read more

A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! Seriously , a tourist trap with good looks. Cocktails, seating, a huge fire in your face , and some of the worst sushi rolls I have ever had. With the prices they charge those are wayyyyy small. Appetizers were meh....except the kimchi cucumbers. We ordered 4 rolls and none...yes none impressed us! The teriyaki chicken has a gluey sauce on the side and was borderline undercooked. The bartender, Asian guy with tatoos should be focusing on mastering his cocktails instead of yapping away with bar customers.
