I have no idea why everyone is raving about this place. I came here because of all the great reviews from yelp.com. I'm used to NYC walk-ins and I usually do my own pedi's and those of my 2 daughters. However, it's been a while since I last received a pedi from a salon. We worked very hard and I decided we earned a little pampering. Besides this would be my girls' first time getting a pedi from a salon and a surprise for them. I made the call and reserved 2 spots for 4pm and 1 for 5pm (it's the only time they had for 3). My first impressions of this salon should had made me turn around and out the door, but I thought of the positive reviews from yelp- so we proceeded with choosing a color polish. I decided to let my girls go first and while they wait for their polish to dry, I'll get my pedi next. One the pedicurist (older male) started with my oldest daughter but had a tablet open next to him watching a tennis game while performing a pedicure. The second pedicurist (older female) started with my youngest daughter (she doesn't look 12). So I sat on one of the pedi stations right next to my 12 year old, waiting for my turn. I watched my girls getting their pedis and then that's when the older female brought my youngest daughter foot from the water unto the platform and started sucking her teeth and saying something in her language to her colleague, she continued on saying to my little girl, "ugh, do you bite your toenails" hearing the distinct tone of disgust in her comment. My daughter respectfully responded, "no, I don't" and sighed then the manicurist chuckled at my daughter's sighed. I responded to the manicurist that she cuts her own toenails and may have cut them too short. She continues by laughing and saying "this should be $50 and not $25.. continuing to laugh and be humored by her own comment. I tried to be polite but I couldn't believe what I just heard, like how dare you make a comment on a little girl with her mother right next her to her. I told the manicurist, "that comment doesn't help her, you shouldn't say things like that to a little girl" (or anyone regardless of age), "she's only 12 years old" but I was now very upset by having to witness this horrible body shaming of my daughter's feet but also seeing that my girl was also getting upset by her. At this point I decided I'm not getting my pedi here after this insult- and placed my polish bottle back on the wall. I waited for my girls to get their polish on and went out to call for my husband to pick us up. Came back in and asked the young lady at the front desk how much for the pedis and she asked, "where's the 5pm, she's not coming".. I said- "I'm your 5pm and you just lost my business". She was very surprised to hear this and I told her what had happened. She was very sorry- apologizing and said she would speak with the manicurist. My daughters and I will not be returning to this place. read more

I come here to get my color and cut with Adriana, she is the only who has been styling my hair for over 14+ years. She leaves my hair just how I want it, she does great color never leaves orange streaks in it. She also does my eyebrows and facials, she is just AMAZING. Totally love her work! When I come in and need a last minute pedicure Peter and Kim always do excellent work, they take their time to do a great job with fine detailing. They don't rush like some places, they make sure you are happy with their services. This is definitely a good place to come and do it all in one day if you have too. I could not get a regular appointment in my hair salon. So I remembered this small salon down in the shopping center by my house. I decided it was only a trim that I needed and blowout, so I called to make a appointment by owner Lynn. I knew my hair was in bad shape, she also did so we had to really take off dead ends...well never the less I am glad I did my hair feels great. The only complaint I would have is the product line. Been doing lash extensions for 5+ years. Quite literally the worst I've ever had done. Didnt use enough lashes, didn't ask me my preferred shape, curl or length and both eyes were didn't even look even when she was done. On top of that the entire hour I was laying there the lady just kept telling me over and over how my natural lashes were "so short" and "not nice". Thanks, if my lashes were naturally long and luxurious I wouldn't need extensions in the first place. Unless you like shoddy amateur work and being insulted incessantly - definitely go elsewhere. Also, I was on time for my appointment but she was not ready yet and told me they didn't allow customers to wait inside the salon and asked me to wait outside - in January - until she was ready for me. I waited 50 minutes in the cold. The best part was when I was done with my service there was in fact another customer sitting INSIDE in the waiting area. Been going to Linh for about 6 years and she's always so pleasant and does a great job on my nails. They have a great atmosphere her salon is clean and all her staff are very friendly. If you need a good pedicure be sure to ask for Peter and Kim does a great job with manicures. Phuong is very good at nails as well my daughter loves going to her to get her nails done. read more

Love this place !!! I have been a customer for about 8 months now and I can honestly say this is the best nail salon in the area . The staff is always super friendly and accommodating , it gets busy just like any other salon but is always worth the wait . Linh is super flexible and amazing at what she does I highly recommend her . I also love Peter he gives the best pedicures and I am very picky with my praises . They also have an awesome hair salon on the opposite side of the salon which caters to all hair types . However , like I said before the salon does get busy and works off of appointments only . Horrible. I'm not sure where that other reviewer used to get her hair cut and styled in NYC - but her review made this place sound good. It wasn't even decent. I'm only sorry that I ignored my instincts to turn around and leave. I stayed, and got a terrible cut, and terrible customer service. Here is what you need to know: 1. No atmosphere. (Not even elevator music in the background) 2. "Stylist" was rude when I walked in as a new customer, and didn't introduce herself. 3. "Stylist" clearly was struggling with the haircut and style. 4. "Stylist" asked rude, and clearly judgmental questions of me. 5. I had to stop the haircut 1/2 way through and tell her what to do and not to do. I am not a professional. Therefore, I should not be telling someone who is trained how to actually cut the hair. But, I had to. She was razoring off so much it was getting to be ridiculous. 6. Linh does fantastic work with nails. Unfortunately if you have an appointment and she's busy she doesn't honor the appointment, you can either wait a long time or take your chances. After going through that three times I gave up waiting for her and will have to find another place. The first time I was there almost three hours (with an appointment) but I was patient because I was eager to try her nail design. The second time I had an appointment and rescheduled for a week later because it was going to be a long wait. On my 4th visit she was somewhere in the back doing something else but no one could tell me what our how long I would wait. I probably would have waited if I'd at least had the courtesy of some estimate of the wait time but instead I was ignored as if I wasn't welcome, even though I asked three times. No problem, I left. I would definitely work on the attitude and the customer service because she is a very talented nail artist. read more

Been coming here for almost 20 years but never will again. Fawn is very sweet and does great pedicures. Lin (the owner) has never been very friendly but last time I was there she was downright rude to me. She kept commenting on the appearance of my feet, despite me just looking at her and not responding. My first time to this nail salon was this evening at 7:55, and it was AWESOME. Was in dire need to get my eyebrows waxed before the weekend and I live super close. I felt horrible going in at this time knowing they probably close at 8, but I figured I'd try. (Got stuck at work.) I was still greeted nicely, and asked if they could quickly do my brows. She said yes, and a little bit older lady with glasses took me to the back. She spent about 3 minutes looking at my eyebrows and told me they were uneven and she would fix it, and to come back to her. She didn't rush ONE bit even though they were practically closed. Not the most inviting place. Seriously have to question the cleanliness. While waiting for a pedicure the towels from previous customers were strewn on the floor. There was a smoothie container on top of a shelf with remnants of smoothie still coating the inside of the container. The drying table had a buildup of something sticky on it. And the glass on the front door looked like it hadn't seen a paper towel with window cleaner in a long time. Sorry, but sanitary conditions are a must when getting nails done. read more

Found this place using Yelp and was not disappointed...it was so close to where I lived I don't know why I didn't go sooner. I called the first time and was given an appointment the same day...Christina was the at the front desk...her mom owns the business...I only get a pedicure...Adrianna was the first to do it...good job...made me want to come back...couple months later I made an appointment and it was with Kim...she did an excellent job on my feet. I went back a 3rd time and again Kim did an excellent job...time to go again...the last time I was there I left something and when I called they were so happy and gave my husband no trouble picking it up...so very friendly, conscientious and honest! read more

A great find - I'm a NYC salon convert! Lynh, the owner, is super sweet and was able to fit me in last minute for a haircut, 3 days before my wedding. She did such a great job that I was inspired last minute to ask her if she'd do my hair and all my friends' hair for my wedding in the Hudson Valley. (I had planned to do my own hair because all the stylists I had considered were super expensive, especially when I factored in paying for them to travel from NYC). With no time for a pre-wedding trial, I just took a deep breath and put the fate of my hair in Lynh's hands- it came out looking GORGEOUS! I was terrified that it was going to be one of those overdone, shellaced, spiral curled, beauty pageant up do's, but when I described my flowing dress and relaxed wedding to Lynh, she totally understood and translated it into a beautiful half pinned up, half down & loosely curled 'do that looked effortlessly me, just a little better...but not too perfect- it had a undoneness that kept it real. I almost didn't listen to her when she told me I should have my hair up at least for the ceremony, but I am so glad I did, because it really added a special touch- she really knows her stuff! And since I told her I wanted to take it down later, she went light on the pins & hairspray. As for my friends & bridesmaids- between Lynh and another of her stylists, Sandy, everyone got a beautiful blowout or updo to fit their personality and dress. They also did make-up for a few girls- again, it turned out better than expected- not too heavy and for me, Lynh was absolutely masterful when it came to gluing on fake eyelashes. They came to my house for my wedding (much less stress than driving everyone to the salon) which was extra convenient - and they didn't charge too much more to travel. The salon itself isn't fancy, but it's clean and I think the fact that it's not in an upscale shopping plaza is actually a plus, because it means they can keep their prices quite reasonable. Bottom line - for a great haircut or blowout/updo at a reasonable price with really nice stylists, look no further than Hello Gorgeous! Definitely worth considering when getting ready for your next special event - ask for Lynh - she is a total gem! read more

I really liked this place at first and the pedicure woman always did a thorough job on my feet. However, after being turned away at 3 different occasions (today being the final straw) I'm taking my business elsewhere. It seems they can never honor walk-ins because there is simply not enough staff! I kept trying because it's the closest place to my house. Today I walked in on a Friday at 11:50. There were literally no customers seen in the nail salon or the hair salon. There was one woman sitting at a table (not the reception table) holding the appointment book, saying someone could take me in 3 1/2 hours. Are you SERIOUSLY telling me, with NOBODY there, the owner is OK with turning away business?? Again, the nail woman has always been so good and so nice, but this place needs to get their act together because they just lost another customer. FED UP read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! They are unprofessional, and definitely not courteous. Very rude. They speak in their native tongue consistently, which is by far the rudest thing you can do in a business, In America. Especially the one that sits in the very front when you first walk in, by the reception desk. You cannot mistake her. She actually speaks English, but heavily in Ebonics, kinda like hoodish. Very snooty as well. I think her name is Lym. She's a really jealous technician. If you decide to go to someone else in the shop she definitely makes it known that she's upset. Again, very unprofessional. Appointments are NEVER on time, and they require appointments. I've given them a couple chances to redeem themselves , for their service is awesome when it's your first visit. Which was with Kim. Who is pleasant. I never wanted to switch from her anyway. Never asked for Lym. She has a ratchet attitude. After the 1st visit with them they act as if you need them or they are doing you a favor. When they are minuscule on the nail business chain. Today I had an appointment at 5pm. I arrive on time and Lym, whom I would not have went to had I known she was the one doing my nails. But anyway, she's barely starting on someone else. She asks me do I have an appointment, which she already knew and then tells me she is running late and to give her 10 minutes. I gave her until 5:30pm, she still wasn't ready. No communication with me, NONE!!! So I left. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY BUSINESS TO THEM AGAIN. Word of advice....... if you are used to professional, curteous staff............ DO NOT GO HERE !!! YOU WILL REGRET IT. BELIEVE ME OR NOT. It's your chance to take. I should have never stopped going to the place I was going to in White Plains for the last 10 years. Closer is not always better. I had used one of the stylist there for about 2 years. She became horrible as I went from hair extensions to transitioning to my natural hair! I had asked for dark red low lights (again) in my brown hair and ended up looking like day glo candy apple/raspberry pinkish red jello! I'm still in the process of covering it . HORRIBLE!!! And I received a VERY uneven, god awful haircut. It was horrible and when I told Shay I was VERY unhappy with it she said that it was the same as last time. No it was not. She proceeded to argue with me, Lin the owner did absolutely NOTHING. The shop has become VERY unprofessional; too much gossiping about clients, saying things they shouldn't in front of other clients. One of the girls has her baby and son there always and she has a VERY nasty attitude. Some of the girls are outside smoking , there isn't a trash can to be found in the salon other than a dirty restroom. The floors are dirty and are not swept up on a regular basis. The prices Hello Gorgeous charges for the lack of experience and shoddy service is laughable. I will never, ever return and do NOT recommend this salon. I found another stylist for natural hair that is fabulous and well educated. Because of the horrific hair cut I received I lost two years of growth because Shay cannot cut hair. Hello Gorgeous??
