Hair rituals have always followed me. From homemade mayo-avocado hair concoctions as a kid in the Dominican Republic, to teenage years to my twenties. Except, I don't mix salad ingredients anymore to make those 'treatments'. Now, it boils down to using right ingredients and hair products to take care of my grey curly hair. You know I was super hyped when I found Eclipse then called before coming here to find out if they carried my desperately-needed curly hair products. This Aveda Concept salon on N. Broadway in Tarrytown has the sit-down salon side of it with washing stations, nail stations, etc. The opposite side comes across as a separate business- but it's actually wall-to-wall stocked with almost every Aveda product out there. A little out of the way for me, but my tried-and-true hair salon that carries Aveda by me was limited on supply. So Eclipse it is for the win with pleasant staff. read more

Recommended by a coworker to see Isabella. I had long hair and wanted to donate it. I'm very sensitive about my hair as I've had bad haircuts in the past. Isabella was sensitive to my requests and followed my instructions. She kept it as long as possible while providing enough hair to donate. I'm very happy to write this review for Eclipse. I was in from out of town to attend a wedding and wanted to get my hair and makeup done. So of course I turned to my fellow Yelpers. Y'all did not disappoint! It was very easy to call to make an appointment, and they called me the day before to confirm. There's a small parking lot behind the building which is used for parking for about 4 businesses, and there is also street parking available. The salon is clean, bright, and nice looking. First was my makeup. Day-to-day I don't wear much more than mascara so I didn't have many suggestions for what I wanted her (I can't remember the artist's name!) to do, but it turned out great! Given the low-90° temps and the fact that I always cry at weddings, I did have to do some touching up as the day and evening went on. Next, Helen did my hair. I showed her a few inspiration photos and she got to work. My hair looked beautiful when she was done and it stayed put all night! The makeup and updo were very reasonably priced. Very poor customer service, my friend went there to dye her hair and blend her white hair plus a treatment for her thin hair, she had to pay $214 for the day, hardly received a wash and didn't get a blow dry. She had to come back less than a week later because the color washed away after the first shower, she asked for a warranty and they retouched the color, washed her hair and checked her out without even drying it! I have been going to Danielle for a year and a half now and would never let anyone else touch my hair- she is amazing! I was referred to her by an associate who swore she was the go-to for ombré. I went in with dirty blonde, chemically treated, damaged, breaking, splitting hair wanting a dark brown to blonde ombré. She knew exactly what I wanted and my hair looked and felt better than I could've ever expected in one visit. I decided to take the time and grow my hair out so I could donate it. I finally reached the required length and finally got my cut last week! How the salon and owners handled COVID safety is A Plus! All the protocols that they had in place make me feel so safe , not just for me but the staff as well. I could see cleaning at the stations, mask worn, partitions up , sanitizer everywhere! Called in the morning and was able to get a same day haircut with Izabella. It was great! She took notice of my hair type and what I wanted and gave me a blunt cut that got rid of my split ends and recommended a deep conditioning treatment that really helped my frizz. Everyone was really nice here and everyone from the receptionist to the owner was friendly and accommodating. My hair feels smooth and thick now. I'll definitely be back. This place is wonderful. I've been coming here for over ten years, and I always leave feeling pampered and beautiful. My mom and I tend to make it a half day extravaganza whenever I'm in town. They offer a wide variety of services including waxing, manicure/pedicure, hair styling, etc. My more recent visits have been for hair coloring and mani/pedis. For color treatment, I highly recommend Colleen. She's the only one who's ever touched my hair with dye, and I wouldn't go to anyone else. She takes her time in mixing the color perfectly and pays close attention to detail. Any of the haircut specialists are great, though I'm partial to Norman. He knows what he's doing and will make you laugh. Pam and Helena are the nail and waxing experts, and either of them are good bets. Don't be deterred by Pam's crazy long nails--it doesn't stop her at all from doing her job. In the heart of tarrytown, I definitely recommend this salon. I've been here twice - once for a haircut and once for a manicure/pedicure. I think I saw a junior level stylist when I got my hair cut here, since I made the appointment last minute. She was professional, and gave me a decent haircut. I'm very picky about my haircuts, but I think she understood what I wanted and did a great job. I also love that they use Aveeda products! She gave me her information at the end of my appointment, but wasn't pushy, which I respected. There's nothing worse than a pushy stylist! At the end of my appointment, I also got a free hand massage, which was amazing! The girl used a beaded exfoliating lotion that got all the dead skin off, and massaged my hands for a good 5 minutes - at no extra cost! Nice! I was disappointed in my nail experience here. I booked a french manicure/pedicure and wasn't happy at the colors she chose - the base color on my toes was too pink. When I told her this, she said she'd switch and give me a lighter color for my nails, and even offered to redo my toes. Since I was in a hurry, I didn't accept the offer, but I appreciated it. I wasn't that happy with the way my nails looked. I know that everyone has varying opinions of french manicures, but I thought this just looked a little sloppy. To boot, neither the manicure or pedicure lasted more than a day without starting to chip. I know I'm hard on my nails, but for the price, I expected this to last at least 3 days! I have gone to so many different stylists here (usually because I schedule so last minute) and every one I have had always did an amazing job. They really know how to make sure they're hiring people there that know 100% what they're doing and can do it with perfection. I had terrible highlights done at a previous salon where my roots were a rusty orange, my mid-shaft was ice blonde and my ends were stripy dark brown with the ice blonde -- AWFUL. Theresa was able to correct it by blending and toning it flawlessly in the first visit. Unlike every other salon, she really examined the condition of my hair that the previous salon left it in (which was breaking everywhere). She made sure to be extremely delicate and warn everyone else to do the same with it. She made sure to avoid all severely damaged sections of my hair with any processing that would break it further. I came in looking like a two-year-old did my roots and highlights and left with beautifully blended blonde that has perfect dimension. You truly do get what you pay for when it comes to hair color. Spending the extra money at a salon that knows what they're doing ends up saving your hair and avoiding extra money spent on corrective color. I've had a good experience with haircuts here- I see Ashley and think she's fantastic (my husband likes her too). I'm giving two stars because the last time I got my eyebrows done here, the waxer literally ruined them, and I'm so sad about it. I had healthy looking brows, which she shaped into asymmetrical, pencil-thin, creepy looking things. I look like I'm constantly surprised. They look terrible growing out. I absolutely hate them. This is my third time here, came in once for a hair cut, and twice for highlights. The place is priced pretty high and the service level is low. The washers are aggressive and now they have a new policy where they charge extra to dry your hair, even with zero styling, so you either have to walk out with a wet hair in near freezing temps (you can sit in a dry chair that only dries the top of your hair if you have longer hair) or you have to pay for a blow dry. Also, when you walk out after paying nearly 200$ your hair looks like a mess from the drying chair and zero combing. I have been to many salons in many places around NYC, Astoria, and Westchester. This has never happened anywhere else. I will not be coming back. read more

I got a last minute appointment for a cut and color and the oh so lovely Stephanie did the MOST BEAUTIFUL job on my wild mess of hair. When I told her that I color often but that my hair never holds the color for very long she correctly guessed that my previous stylists had never "filled in" the color (?) Basically they were only doing one step in what should have been a two step process. She took the time to color it properly and I can absolutely see the difference. She even stayed late (the salon was closing) to make sure it was absolutely perfect and that I was 100% happy with how it turned out. I'm so delighted with my hair and will definitely be back. I haven't had my hair professionally cut in years, and was nervous to do so because of awful hair cutting experiences I've had in the past. My long hair is everything to me, and although I was scared to even get a trim, I put my trust into this place mainly because of the amazing reviews. And I'm so happy I did! I had my hair cut by Sarah and she was absolutely the most pleasant person I have ever encountered!! She listened to exactly every single request I had, and checked in with me here and there to make sure I was happy with what I was getting. She made sure to not overstep any boundaries whatsoever. Very unimpressed. They heavily market to be voted 'best of westchester' but they would do better to actually try to be the best instead of marketing for this title. I asked for a bob haircut. The stylist used a quide, and cut my hair two to two and a half inches shorter than I had asked my hair to be cut. I have had a bob style a number of times, and never have I seen a hair dresser use a 'bob guide' not to mention it did not look clean! Also, the shampoo guy seemed strange and didn't offer a pleasant hair wash experience. No hair massage, but that isn't the biggest deal. Anyway you can believe these hyped experiences which were prob all marketed if you want, but I am not falling for this anymore. I gave this place a try two years ago and wasn't impressed, and I thought maybe it would be better now... Nope! I am done 'giving it a shot'. Good luck on your hair salon search. I go to Eclipse because of Izabela. She's a great stylist and a great person! She used to cut my hair at an expensive salon in Manhattan but when she moved to Eclipse in Westchester, I was at a loss. Sure, there are plenty of hair stylists in the city but Izabela has been the best by far. So now, I actually travel all the way up to Tarrytown for a hair appointment with her. I cannot say enough about this salon. Was in town for a wedding and needed to get hair curled and makeup done. I literally looked up the closest and best reviewed salon and found Eclipse. The staff was so nice and Juliana (one of the new stylists there) knew exactly what I wanted. 2 hours later and I was done up and ready for the wedding. They can do amazing cuts, but they CAN'T do auburn. My first time going here was interesting. I came asking for a bit of toning and a sombre on my (dyed) blonde hair and I left a brunette with blonde highlights. It looked amazing, but wasn't what I asked for. Eventually, however, I did grow to like it because the stylist had a reason, my roots grew in seamlessly (Sara). The second time I went I was doing a bit of a drastic change, however I knew exactly what I wanted, collarbone cut and a natural looking semi-dark auburn. I left with a great cut but an unnatural red. I called and made an appointment for the next day thinking it would be a quick fix. Oh boy was I wrong. I returned the next day and met with a different stylist to whom I explained I wanted a very natural auburn look. She seemed happy to fix it, but eventually it was clear she had no idea what I wanted. The she asked me two questions about what I wanted and kept basing my entire color off of one photo that I made clear was only loose inspiration. I had showed multiple photos of darker hair but she was fixated on the lightest one and kept referencing it. Through hours of trial and error of colors that were way too light, I finally just caved and fixed it myself at home. Hell, she even called over the manager at one point in an effort to pin multiple people against me and try to guilt me into leaving, unhappy and with a color I didn't want. The only person who was actually nice to me was a hair washer who saw I was flustered and took time to actually listen to me. It may be the only review of its kind, but I had such a horrible experience, I just had to share it. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Everyone at Eclipse is incredibly friendly and easy to work with. They listen to your wants, consulting with you on what color/cut would work best for you. I have had nothing but positive experiences each time I have gone to Eclipse for a cut and/or color. I always receive compliments after getting my hair done here. The staff at Eclipse is attentive, checking up on you throughout your appointment, providing a free hand massage, offering to bring you more water or tea, and making sure you are comfortable. I have never felt awkward or pushed at any point during my visit. The girls working the desk are always warm and pleasant, making you feel welcome. The facility is always very clean; there are never piles of hair or globs of dye on the floor. It is a very well maintained salon, which makes the atmosphere that much nicer. Sorry "S.C" that they straighten up and sweep, so you're not sitting in other peoples' hair...what a horror for you to have experienced someone cleaning around you. That must have been just awful.
