Went back to Hello Gelato and was very happy they let me split 2 flavors in my small size - service level is high a staff let me try a sample of a couple of flavors but went with a sorbet and chocolate gelato - not too sweet just yum
Stopped by on Friday, 08/22/25 at night. Ordered the following: - 2 small cups ($6.75 each) / I got the matcha green tea flavor and my boyfriend got the chocolate flavor) TOTAL = $13.50 The gelato tasted amazing!!! Such a hidden local gem located at Old Town Pasadena.
Hello, Gelato! I always look forward to eating a sweet treat and Hello Gelato is consistently my go-to. The 2 ladies who work there are genuinely so patient when taking your order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is so cute and makes you feel happy when you walk inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are so many amazing and beautiful gelato options to choose from. I definitely recommend:)
I absolutely love Hello Gelato! The owner is so kind and the service is always great. The employees also go above and beyond! We absolutely love coming here for a sweet treat and also love to get pints to take home. They also offer a loyalty stamp card for customers which is really nice. There's lots of vegan options too, which we love since we're vegan! I definitely recommend this place for really good and fresh gelato!
Really mediocre gelato. It's not silky as gelato should be. The texture was a bit harder and felt more airy like traditional ice cream. I think depending on the day, some flavors could taste less fresh if they've been sitting there for a while - you can tell because some flavors are going to be very soft and others harder. Flavors were not very intense either, especially the taro flavor. The stracciatella flavor had too many fine chips. I do like the hazelnut flavor - tastes a lot like Nutella. It's good value dessert, though, compared to Wanderlust Creamery across the street. A medium size is $7.50 and they really stuff the cup.
Adventure is a flavor--am I right or am I right? Nevertheless, in this case, I had the Lemon cooler flavor that is non fat and non dairy. It was lemony, flavorful, and just what I needed on a warm summer day. Eat adventurously! It was clean, inside a small space. Everyone was friendly and I would recommend. They have clearly marked flavors and I would like to try the other non-dairy flavors. "Dessert: the sweetest form of self-love."
Amazing! I rarely find sugar tree treats anywhere and they had two flavors here; hazelnut and chocolate. My partner and I sampled both and decided on the chocolate, it was so rich and creamy! Recommend and definitely coming back.
June 22st 2025 approximately 4 o'clock Me and my girlfriends wanted to have gelato ice cream, so we walked into this store. That were two employees over-the-counter, having a conversation. We waited few minutes, still not served. So, one of my girlfriend said Hi Can you help us? Then, a employee named Melissa She was extremely rude she put the hand on air said "just wait" continued to lecture to the other employee. The other employee she has tears on her eyes, seems very sad. So we stepped in and said, "what's going on here ? And Melissa with bad attitude with bitter face expression said i "It's nothing" we decided to engage the conversation and said, "if y'd coach another employee, you don't do that in front of customers. You pull her aside or in the back, NOT in front of customers. It's not good" Meanwhile, we were asking the other employee's name and she was scared to giving out her name to us. Then all of sudden, older lady just showed up from the back, she claims she is a manager of the store. So we explained about the situation, however seems like she doesn't care or she doesn't acknowledge how this customer service is horrible. - FYI WE, Me and my girlfriends have worked over 10 years as a counter manager at High-end store, WE ALL know actually what is going on! The other employee who refused give us her name, she got threatened and humiliated in front of customers. that is absolutely NOT OKAY.
The woman who helped my niece and I was super patient. My niece got vanilla bean with gummy bears, and I went with mint chip -- both were delicious! The total was around $14, which isn't bad. I'd definitely come back!
[[HIGHLIGHT]]A cute little gelato shop in the heart of Old Town Pasadena![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It smells a little odd in the store but we still managed to stay for gelato![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner said we only get to sample 2 flavors, which is hard especially when it's your first time in the store! We were able to get two flavors in the small cup! The strawberry was delicious and so was the chocolate chip! Gelato tasted fresh!
The perfect place for a sweet treat! They have so many flavors to choose from, there's really something for everyone. They have fruity, tart, creamy, chocolatey, and lots more. They do let you sample if you want to try a flavor. It's a bit on the pricier side ($6 for a small) but it taste like quality gelato. I had the banana and chocolate hazelnut which was a great duo. The hazelnut had bits of chocolate in it which I really enjoyed. The service is very nice and efficient, especially when they are very busy.

Matcha and Passion fruitI was craving for ice cream with not too sweet flavor. And I found that Hello gelato's gelatos are amazing! I'm more satisfied because they use nice ingredients and the owner is so nice!!! Strongly recommend to visit here.!

Definitely had a good time eating this while soaking in the sun! A local gelato shop in Pasadena that carried so many flavors of gelato. We opted for a more fruity flavor and got a half scoop of mango and watermelon. Did not taste artificial which is a plus and you can actually taste the the real fruit they mix in with it! We appreciated how you can split the scoop and at $5 it was a nice summer treat :) Seriously can't wait to go to Italy one day and experience the gelato heaven over there. I. Am. In. Love. with this gelato store. To start of, I love the location it's in. Right of the bat, you're greeted by their staff and I'm sorry I didn't get their names. But the Asian gentleman is very patient with the customers. I love how attentive he is of making sure he gets your order right. In addition to that, when you order 3 scoops and you tell him the flavours right away; he sets up the cup in a way where you'll be able to enjoy all 3 flavours. That might sound silly, but it's kind of throughtful. It's not like some ice cream bars where they just slap on the flavours. So, if you have the time and happen to be in the area; absolutely the best place to get some gelato! read more

If you are a gelato fan, I would totally check out this place. It is in the heart of Old Town Pasadena and by the King's Row Alley. This location is super small. There are only two tables in the café. The fact that you can't find seating would be the only down fall to this place Why would anyone get Gelato vs. Ice Cream? Well, Gelato is actually an Italian dessert staple. The base is the same as ice cream, except it has higher portion of milk l and lower portion of cream and eggs. It is churned in a slower rate, so there is less air incorporating to this, so the gelato is more dense than ice cream. This is why your gelato is more creamier and smooth. It also has less percent fat from Ice Cream, which makes this a healthier choice dessert for me. At this location, they have so many flavors, it is hard to chose from. Thank God the staff are extremely friendly and let me tried on many delicious samples. I like that they have sugar free flavors available and price is reasonable. The Gelato was heavenly, magical and scrumptious in my mouth. Despite the seating issue, It will not hinder me from coming back. Come check it out. It is definitely a new treasure in Pasadena. read more
Hello Gelato.... I just love saying it! The gelato here is marvelous! Homemade by the owner, who also slings the sweet, refreshing stuff. First time to Pasadena as an adult and I just love the feel. So quaint and cozy. Stopped in while waiting for the kids which were shoe shopping at Footlocker, and after having my watch battery replaced across the hall. Small joint, with 3 tiny tables. So many choices. Fruits and non. I opted for the lilikoi and lemon, while my sister chose the stracciatella and pistachio, which were also, very good. Don't let the size of the cups fool you. I thought the small cup was not going to do the flavors justice, or be enough to cool my core down, but I was dead wrong. The large cup ended up being so much, that I couldn't finish it. I cooled down quite fast and experienced the full flavor of both. The small cup would have been quite enough. The next time I'm in Pasadena, this is the FIRST place I'm going to stop! Stopped here for (2nd) dessert with fellow Yelper, Julie P after dinner around the corner. Yes, 2nd dessert. Had dessert at dinner around the corner however wasn't really satisfied so we ended up walking down to Hello Gelato. We walked - because if you know the area, parking can be challenging unless you head to one of the handful of parking garages in the area. Or you can take a chance with street parking Sugar free flavors available. I went with the SF Hazelnut and Roasted Almond - one of my favorite flavors. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the Hazelnut - but felt the Roasted Almond was too sweet. It may not be to you - however, because I've cut down on sweets lately, it was probably just a shock to my taste buds; otherwise - both were nice and creamy. I liked it all except one thing - like other shops, not a lot of seating. Inside were two tables, none outside. With or without seating, if in the area, I'll be back. read more
The owner is friendly and helpful. A huge plus is that you can choose to order 2 delicious flavors in the small size, $4.25 reusable cup option. Some other sensationally sweet perks: They have a rewards/stamp program, you can sample 3 gelato flavors, the gelato is made fresh in house daily, the location is right next to the Lush shop and King's Row Pub and free parking is around the corner. Need I say more..go get some gelato that's as good as it is in Italy! read more

5 star all day long! Stopped into Pasadena to check out some antique shops, but we had a sweet tooth and gelato was on our mind. This place has so many flavors to choose from. Levels of chocolate, coffee espresso blend, to tropical fruits and all the berry flavors you are craving. I grabbed the coffee and espresso and it was as bold as I expected to be with not too much sweet,paired it with rocky road amazing combo. I mixed coconut with mango and wow!!! An explosion of flavors in my mouth. Chocolate chip with Nutella and rocky road created a flavor all on its own. I left regretting the passion fruit, but I'm def coming back to create some more epic combination flavors. First day of purple tier so some restaurants can eat outside and it's freezing cold, so of course it's gelato time! They had so many amazing flavors. I had been craving a mounds candy, so I decided to create one! The coconut was like digging into eating a fresh coconut and the dark chocolate was so rich. By far the best dark chocolate ice cream I've ever had. read more

Terrible customer service. We came in as a group of 5 and were told no more samples after trying only a few by the old lady. Didn't know samples could cost the business that much. Will never visit this place again. Updated: For God's sake, please go to Salt & Straw. It's only across the street. read more

When I was in college I used to enjoy going here a lot. After 20 years that I haven't been here they still remember me. I felt joy in my heart. The owners are kind the people that work here have amazing customer service. I highly suggest you go there. They care about there customers that is why they have survived business I wish them the best always. read more

Was looking for the froyo place down the street but the assortment of gelatos in this storefront was too tempting. No samples but went with my gut and got matcha + coconut flavors. Such a strong flavor. Very happy they allow two flavors into a size small bc it might look tiny but it's a lot of ice cream! Fun stuff. Would stumble back here read more

I was searching for an ice cream cone while walking on Colorado Ave. The first place I went had a lot of really goofy flavors. I just like traditional flavors...I do not need lavender in my ice cream! Sorry for that tangent! Luckily I found Hello Gelato! I know gelato isn't ice cream... They had lots of flavors that appealed to me. I decided on a scoop of rocky road. $5 for a good sized scoop of really rich gelato with lots of nuts, marshmallows and chocolate pieces. Perfect! I have to rate this place five stars because this place was my childhood. When I was younger, I would come here often with my family when we walked around Old Town Pasadena; coming here brought back so many fond memories. The inside looked like it had never aged, and the gelato tasted the same. (Though I don't remember gelato costing so much :(( ) The guy who served us was very friendly and patient with my family and I and our large order. I thought the way gelato was displayed with the cookies on top of the cookies and cream gelato and the actual fruits on top of the fruit-flavored gelato. I would definitely come back for the gelato and the memories :') read more

The gelato was good and very flavorful. I had the blueberry cheesecake which is a common favorite of mine for even ice cream, and pistachio which didn't taste synthetic at all. The only issue was that she mixed the two flavors together when I ordered one scoop for each person, not the end of the world or anything, but would have liked the flavors separately :) read more
Hello gelato is the perfect way to end a meal in Pasadena. It is a small family owned shop with delicious gelato for affordable prices. The small ($4.50) and medium cups can be split between 2 flavors with no extra charge and the large can be split between 3 or 4 flavors (I think). The staff are super nice and the texture of the gelato itself is creamy perfection. The flavors use real ingredients (nothing is artificial) and include toppings like honey roasted pistachios and blueberries (for pistachio and blueberry cheesecake respectively). Definitely recommend for anyone in the area! read more

03.19.2019 Dessert stop with the family after a late lunch and a short visit to Pasadena City Hall. We were supposed to go to another one that we passed earlier but this was right around the corner. Little O got a small cup with mango and chocolate. H shared a medium cup of strawberry lemonade and I got a small cup with taro and coconut. The flavors were spot on! I tasted everyone's flavors and they all had creamy texture and great taste. We would definitely be back to try more flavors. read more
If you like very watered down gelato, this is the place for you. Not saying it's bad, just very very light. They do fill it up a lot compared to other gelato places (granted, those other places have "real" gelato, which is a tad heavier so a small scoop would be enough to fulfill your sweet tooth), but I still think the price is way to high for the quality of the gelato. It's whatevs though, if I'm in the area and craving some gelato I'll stop by, but definitely not something I'd go out of my way for. Also, side note for how they're handling COVID... would really appreciate if the scooper wore gloves. Just a thought. read more

Walking down on Colorado St. after dinner looking for something sweet to eat. We decided to go with this gelato spot instead of another one. This gelato definitely hit the spot for me. I got two scoops and they for sure give you a good amount of it. Been to other spots and they could be stingy with the gelato. Here you definitely get what you pay for. read more

Lovely gelato... made my day... I opted for the fruit based flavours coz its summer and they were so refreshing... such fresh flavours. When I was making my choice there, I could see how fresh all the options were from the look of them. Delicious and creamy consistency, yet feels very light(less fat).. just how I like it.. Solid gelato! Expensive as they always are, but the person working was nice except she definitely didn't like mint chip and did not recommend so we'll see i guess. I got blueberry cheesecake, mocha, and stracciatella. So good! read more

Customer service not the best wont name her but she told us there was 2 samples about 5 times (we only got 2 samples) very rude she made it even more awkward when she scolded her coworker in front of us to top it off the paper was stuck to the stale cake cone :/ read more
The 4 star rating is unbelievable! I just got back from Italy, land of gelato where it's not so sweet, tasted light and creamy. But not the case at Hello gelato, tasted more like ice cream, a low quality one. The texture is not even milky. I had the mixed berry and chocolate. Some of the flavors here (pomegranate) that I sampled had tasted like it was left out for days with no cover! At least they give samples. read more
