Farm to table adorable eatery and more. They serve breakfast and lunch. Pastries. Cafe baristas get your drinks out fast. Local food and goods. An absolute abundance of Heirloom seeds. Friendly staff Ample seating for large parties or quaint little tables for 1
This place looked really cute so I decided to check it out. There isn't the best parking in the area but it was worth the trip. The outside and inside areas had a great vibe. The marketplace had a lot of interesting things you could buy. I went for coffee and I got an iced mocha latte. The prices were reasonable compared to other cafes. The service was great and my coffee was ready super fast even though it was very busy inside. I would definitely go back to try out their food as well.
I love a market cafe combo! I had the yogurt bowl with a homemade fruit compote and an expertly crafted scone with a perfectly crunchy exterior and soft interior, barely sweet served with seasonal peach jam and butter. The matcha was also nice and strong. My friend loved her breakfast burrito. I can't wait to go back and try the biscuit egg sandwiches and muffins! The eggs look so fluffy. They also had several gf options.
This is such a cute market. They have a sandwich and bakery counter, a coffee counter, and a section full of seed packets. We had a delicious lunch down the road at The Charles so we weren't hungry but we bought their huge chocolate chip cookies and their ginger cookies. They were both delicious! There is a lot of seating inside in multiple rooms and they have nice outdoor tables too.
Amazing quaint antique feel. Little farm market cafe combo straight out of the 18th century. Welcoming employees, great set up! The building is beautiful, soo much unique seating indoors and outside! Impeccable attention to detail... *** FOOD Delicious, hand made biscuits, baked goods, breads. Hummus toast, Avocado Toast, Breakfast Biscuit, all solid options. Great coffee. Wonderful presentation and small time vibes, I feel like I just walked out of an episode of the Gilmore Girls.
Very cute place. We tried lunch here. We ordered the brisket & ham/fig sandwich. Quality meat & good portion. I just thought it would be better. Both sandwiches were a little dry and maybe heating them up would elevate them a little? The ambiance is absolutely beautiful, though. We ate in the greenhouse area and I could easily see myself coming back and hanging out here with a coffee. There are tons of plugs and ample seating. I would come again and try breakfast and/or coffee and a pastry.
We stopped into Heirloom Market on a weekday morning for a late breakfast/morning snack. The market has speciality food items and produce. They have a very large space of tables for eating or chatting and relaxing. The service is super friendly. They have pastries as well as other food items made to order. We ordered some gluten free pastries and a (non gf) biscuit, egg, and cheese, along with a coffee. The pastries were good. The biscuit for the biscuit, egg, and cheese, was really enjoyed. A great place to stop into in Historic Wethersfield, and see the scarecrows in October!
The only thing keeping my rating from being a 5, was the wait. Beyond the wait the few people handing out orders seeing myself and my niece being the last two standing at the pickup counter. Not one person said Ive noticed a few sets of people have gone through and you're still here. Let me check on your order for you? Instead when we were 2nd to last I had to go up to the counter and say - I know you're busy but can you check on our order? The food was delicious! The cold cuts so fresh. The bread soft on the inside and just the right amount of crunch on the outside. They also served homemade pickles with our sandwiches. I love pickles I just prefer garlic pickles. Besides our lunch they had a large selection of seeds for planting flowers, and vegetables to search through and a cute market - so its not all about eating!
Good coffee and cookies, not as great hot foods Came here for a sweet treat while up and about. This place came up as a popular spot, so we made the trek for some drinks and snacks. The place is in a well kept historical district, a little fancier than your standard locations, but in a New England fashion. The barn is a combo of old and new with heavy leanings on the old. It inside is expansive but clean. Worn but not dilapidated. The back of the house had the coffee and bakery. we got a bahn mi, some cookies, and a latte. Food came out after a bit of a delay, but not too long of a wait. The cookies were good. The peanut butter miso was the star of the show, but the snickerdoodle was a solid contender. The chocolate chip was a little too crisp and I didn't like the chocolate choice. But still not a bad cookie. Coffee was giv beans, which I really enjoy. The latte was basic, but the coffee was strong and wasn't washed out by the milk. The bahn mi was interesting. The veggies were heavily vinegared and had a slight funk to them like a kimchi. Combined with the chicken pate and the beer marinate pork gave the sandwich a very cheese funk which was very unexpected. The pulled pork was tasty, and the veggies were crisp, but the funk was strong. The choice in bread was also off. The veggies were drenched and the excess liquid sopped into the soft roll, leading to a very soggy and messy bite. It was a fun try, but not one I would try again. I would stick to the bakery and coffee and avoid the hot foods for the moment. Besides those issues, it's a nice location and a good bakery.
Heirloom is my go-to spot whenever my cookie or sweet tooth craving hits, especially if I'm nearby. Let me tell you, it never disappoints! I appreciate it so much every time I stop in because I'll go months without visiting, and when I do, all I want is something from their bakery window. Today, I treated myself to a cookie.. ok maybe 2 cookies (of course!) and also tried their gluten-free pancake donuts! They looked amazing and tasted just as good! I sat outside, enjoyed my cookie, and took a little breather before continuing my errands. Such a nice moment. Love that they have tables outside to enjoy. The staff here are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.
Big fan of Heirloom Market! It's a beautiful cafe and community space complete with a small selection of local grocery items too. They now serve alcohol, and offer an "after dark" menu some days of the week. You can't go wrong with their menu! It's full of creative items and farm fresh ingredients. Call me basic, but their avocado toast is my go to. It's structurally sound because they make the toast nice and crunchy and it's topped with a generous portion of avocado, soft boiled egg, pickled onions, and radish. It's the absolute perfect combo! On our most recent trip my husband had the pickle melt, which was full of homemade pickled vegetables and cheese. We also had a bowl of corn gazpacho which was delicious and herbaceous, perfect on a warm day. They also have a great selection of baked goods to choose from. Their chocolate chip cookies are 100/10, but everything I've tried has been fabulous. Go take a stroll around Old Wethersfield and stop by to check them out!
Stopped by for breakfast bright and early before. Love the rustic feel as soon as you walk in! I ordered the Avocado Toast and the table split a Chocolate Banana Muffin and Bananna Bread. Very easy to order at the counter, get a buzzer for your food and wait for your drinks. Everything came out fast and tasted so fresh and very yummy! Lots of seating -- for privacy or even to grab a bite and work a bit, head up stairs where there is more seating. In addition to the food prepared lots of fun food items for purchase as well. Great and easy street parking. While i dined for breakfast, they have a stellar lunch menu as well with some amazing sandwiches!
Awesome spot for food and seeds! Cute little market too! We got a bacon egg and cheese on wheat bread and a cold brew coffee

Heirloom Market (Wethersfield, CT) I needed a quick bite before class. I stumbled upon this cute little eclectic market in the Old Wethersfield Historic District. I love the rustic feel and comfy atmosphere here. Very friendly and inviting staff too! They have baked goods, sandwiches, soups, salads, coffee selections, smoothies, grocery items and even wine at the juice bar. (Gluten free items too!) You can get it to go or sit down in the greenhouse section in the back. I got the Farm pickle melt: pickled sweet peppers, pickled onion, pickled cauliflower, VT cheddar, sourdough. That really hit the spot! I can't wait to come back! read more

The food was so delicious and the entire market is very cute. It's a little overpriced but worth it for how fresh everything tasted. The seating is also such a vibe. Great spot, great vibe! read more

Heirloom market is hands down one of the best hidden gems in old Wethersfield. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating. The menu items are very fresh and forever rotating. It feels like a historic coffee shop, a walk back in time to the older days in Wethersfield. The food can sometimes be a little bit of a wait but it's well worth it. Definitely worth checking out during warmer seasons. read more

Heirloom Market at Comstock Ferre is a natural foods market and café that opened in Wethersfield, Connecticut in January 2016. It was founded by husband and wife Spiro and Julia Koulouris. The market is housed in the historic Comstock, Ferre & Company building in Old Wethersfield. The company was founded in 1820 and was the longest continuously running seed company in the country. At one time, the historic center of Wethersfield was home to seven seed companies. In 2010, the building was purchased by the Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds Company with the intention of turning it into an East Coast garden and farm education center. By August 2015, the Koulourises had taken over the property. They had originally wanted to lease just part of the building, but Baker Creek decided it would be better for them to take over the whole property. In addition to their tasty menu items, the Koulourises are also continuing to sell Baker Creek's heirloom seeds, expanding the idea of a "seed-to-table" operation. My family and I stopped for lunch at Heirloom Market yesterday while we were in Old Wethersfield. We were in the area because we wanted to see the annual Scarecrows on Main Street display that is exhibited every October. When we walked by the market, we decided to stop in for lunch. We loved the interior of the building which still has a 19th century industrial look. There were lots of local food products for sale such as fresh produce and locally sourced honey. After looking over the menu, we decided to order some tasty sandwiches. I ordered the "Heirloom Squash Melt" (organic Sub Edge Farm honeynut squash, Gruyère, pickled sweet peppers, candied pepitas, multigrain), my wife ordered the "Turkey, Bacon, Avocado Panini" (roast turkey, bacon, avocado, cheddar, herb mayo, multigrain) and our son had the "Grilled Cheese" (cheddar & Gruyère, sourdough) with organic apple slices off of the Kids Menu. We also bought some small bags of chips to go with our sandwiches. To drink, I ordered a Cappuccino and my wife ordered a Hot Cocoa with a toasted marshmallow. Everything was excellent! We loved how the sandwiches had delicious, fresh-tasting ingredients, but what really made the sandwiches was their incredible breads. We'll definitely be back! read more
This place was pretty cool. I went in for coffee and a breakfast s'wich and I found a oasis of GOODNESS. They had a lot of healthy things and small companies selling their product out of this market. I like seeing that. I'm a fan of helping the small companies getting their product out there. Coffee was good! S'wich was Good. I already forgot what I ordered. It was the Turkey, bacon, avacado and nom nom nom!! Yummy. They had Indoor seating and out door. The outdoor was pretty cool. It was like a green house. It was about 35-45 degrees outside and I was plenty warm in there. They had parking in front and on the side of the building. Check these photos out... Oh and if you love planting, they seem to have every seed that Noah brought into the ark!! Lol. read more

Ambience - 10/10 Egg & Cheese - 9/10. Absolutely delicious, just difficult to handle. Not a portable option. Breakfast burrito - 7/10. Not my favorite, but still good. Vanilla latte - 10/10 All their cookies are a must try - worth it! Have come many times & will be back. read more
A recent short video from Alex P.T. made me want to go and revisit this beautiful place in Old Wethersfield. No wonder Hallmark did a couple movie shots in front of this place, because it's simply magical. Not only is located in this beautiful and charming old building, but the staff, food and drinks make it even more magical, I think. We only had 2 fresh juices this time, but we are definitely going back for the baked goods, sandwiches, soups and coffee. We wanted to walk around and admire all the decorated bicycles they have on display this month all around town, so that's why we opted for fresh juices. The staff was attentive, made the juices in front of us using only fresh ingredients. With almost 600 pictures, they must be doing something right! read more

Went for the first time today! It was such a cute little market/cafe with a beautiful greenhouse (self seating) to enjoy your sandwich or coffee in! I got the BEC, and a cappuccino. Cappuccino was pretty standard not bad but not amazing either! However the BEC was AMAZING! The homemade biscuits were probably the best I've ever had in the state and the sriracha maple sauce was the perfect addition to enhance the sandwich. read more

We stopped by the market for a quick bite and coffee. The line to order took so much time (20 minutes) to the point we contemplating leaving. However, it is a really cute space and it really leans into the barn homey country aesthetic. The coffee is high quality and the food were decently portioned. read more

Great produce available along with the best seeds for your garden. Their sandwiches are amazing and I recommend their Lattes and Pastries as well. You can dine in their fabulous, family friendly rustic barn feel dining area or outside under one of their umbrellas. read more
One of our favorite cafes and so close to home! The staff is always friendly and it's such a joy coming here. We've been so many times since our first visit I can't even count them all. Yes, sometimes the menu items are a little pricey but almost everything is homemade and locally sourced. We've been coming every weekend to get egg nog lattes and walk around Main Street and I have to say, these are the most delicious egg nog lattes we've ever tried (and my husband orders one anytime it's on a menu during the holidays)! They use locally made egg nog from Fish Family Farm and boy, does that make a difference. They also sell the egg nog in their grocery and you can bet your life savings we bought a jug! PS: Don't sleep on the hot chocolate.... read more

I've never had anything bad here. But lately it's been next-level excellent. The GF rosemary lemon cranberry cookie was the best cookie I have ever had in my entire life. I dream about it (and hope every time I walk in that they'll have it that day). And a vanilla iced Americano that was perfectly balanced and smooth, with just the right amount of syrup. I don't think I can get an Americano anywhere else now. Another honorable mention is the hot mocha with a toasted homemade marshmallow. Such a treat. They do everything right here! read more

This place is so cute! My boyfriend first took me here to pick up some seeds, so I wasn't expecting a cafe with random products other than seeds for sale. We both ordered coffees that were good. My second visit was for lunch. I ordered the turkey, bacon, avocado panini, which was also really good. The staff was great, my niece dropped her cookie outside and they simply replaced it. I will definitely be visiting again. read more
Heirloom Market in Old Wethersfield is an adorable little place. I love going here on warmer, sunny days and sitting outside. They have a good selection of lunch options, soups, salads and sandwiches, as well as and hot and cold drinks. I most recently got a chai latte and a cookie. I have to say, while everything I've had here is truly fresh and very delicious, it's a bit overpriced. The chai latte was $5, and unusually tiny. Instead of calling it "small" "extra small" is a more accurate size description for the drink. The cookie, was a much better value, and there were plenty of other sweet options to choose from. Heirloom Market is an actual market, they sell local fruits, vegetables, honey and more. The look and feel of this place is so comforting and a pleasure to spend a little time at. I give it four stars because it is a little overpriced. read more

Our Saturday lunch was my best experience with Heirloom Market. Between my wife and me, we ordered a pork and "hummus pate" Banh mi, the Summer Squash and Zucchini Special and a Sea Salt chocolate chunk cookie. What's the pirate's favorite sauce? Arrrrrr-abbiata!!! That's what sauce the Summer Squash and Zucchini Special was served with. My wife ordered the Squash Special and, I don't say this lightly, it was a perfect dish. It consisted of yellow summer squash, green zucchini, peppery arugula, black and light sesame seeds, arrabbiata sauce and ricotta cheese. With its red base, punches of yellow and green. dashes of black and a heaping spoonful of white ricotta, it was a beautiful dish, served on an ornate plate. The slightly spicy and acidic arrabbiata sauce was a great vehicle for the mildly flavored vegetables, and the awesome ricotta took it next level. I've never seen somebody serve cooked and cut squash and zucchini this way and, wow, it was a home run. I don't think I even knew Heirloom had a Specials Board, but now, I'll be stalking it every time I'm there. I'm a bit less enthusiastic about the pork and hummus Banh mi that I ordered. I respect and appreciate culinary license and experimentation, but I expect a certain flavor profile from a pork Banh Mi. and a certain combination of vegetables including sweet pickled shredded carrots and daikon. I don't know if it was a spice rub for the pork and/or how the "hummus pate" was seasoned, but there was an overwhelming Southwest spice (some combo of cumin, paprika and/or chili powders) profile that I didn't like for a Banh Mi. I'm primarily looking for a balance of acidity, sweetness, and salt, and crisp vegetables when I order a Banh Mi, and it was hard to pick up those flavors with this spice blend. I especially like a sweet Asian lemongrass marinade for pork. The sandwich had some strong points though. The bread was terrifically crusty. The sandwich was bright colored and looked awesome. Other than the hummus pate (I would have preferred actual pate), the individual components of the sandwich were good. So I'd say that I respected the effort and liked parts, but this isn't a dish I would order again. The Sea Salt and chocolate chunk cookie was awesome though. For those who don't know, I wave the Salty/Sweet Dessert flag outside my house and this cookie checked all the boxes. I may have a new favorite cookie contender in the area. We ate outside among the covered picnic tables in Heirloom's cool front courtyard. It was a great way to spend a day before a possible CT hurricane. This experience, highlighted, by the surprising squash special, elevates Heirloom to 5 Stars for me. read more

If you're down in old Wethersfield this is a Great place to stop for lunch. Food is excellent organic, local and fresh. Although high quality my only complaint is that it is expensive. $13 for a sandwich that doesn't even come with chips and $6 for a ginger lemonade. All pricing aside it is worth it and the food tastes great which is why I keep coming back. My favorite thing to get is the turkey bacon avocado panini, I highly recommend it. Definitely need some CT deep river chips to go with the sandwich. They also do have a gluten free bread option if needed. Atmosphere is pretty cool, they have a good amount of outdoor seating. Staff is friendly. In addition to serving food, they have a cute market inside with fresh produce. read more

Heirloom market is quite a gem. This was my first time and the vibes off the bat were cozy. They have a range of goods for sale, from merch, to candies, to hundreds of seeds for planting. I ended up getting some coffee and avocado toast. The toast was perfect, the avocado fresh. Wasn't a fan of the radishes but that's a personal preference. The latte was also good! I got it with caramel and it was the perfect amount of sweetness that I needed. The service was friendly. You don't interact much as you just order at the counter and seat yourself as well as pick up after yourself. read more

One of my favorite places in Wethersfield. Located on beautiful Main St. this market is sure to impress with it's eclectic menu and friendly staff. The building itself is beautiful and still maintains it historic charm with all the modern amenities. I enjoy sitting in the newly opened greenhouse and at the coffee bar to get some work done while I eat. The food and baked goods have never disappointed and the coffee is always fresh. I was even amazed to see they now offer draft beers. Items on the menu do tend to run a little on the pricier side but it is well worth it in my opinion for the quality and the environment. read more
