Salmon Sushi (seared w/ cajun pepper)
Chloe H.

Heemo is one of my favorite sushi spots in Orange, and they have multiple locations! I love dining in or taking my food to-go, and their food is always fresh, delicious and consistently good. I always get their salmon sushi, seared with Cajun pepper, and their udon combo. The rice-to-salmon ratio is perfect, and the Cajun pepper on the seared salmon adds the perfect amount of flavor. When I'm craving both noodles and sushi, I'll get the udon combo with a spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna is always fresh and has just the right amount of heat. Heemo is consistently delicious, fresh and quick, with plenty of indoor seating and a super clean dining area. The staff is always friendly and attentive whenever I dine in, which makes the experience even better. I'll definitely be back soon and highly recommend Heemo if you're looking for a solid sushi spot that's reasonably priced!

HUGE portions and very fresh salmon carpaccio and DHA roll. Nice plating as well. The baked scallop was too mayonnaise-y and mostly stringy dry imitation crab. Service, although very friendly, was quite slow because there was only one server in the restaurant. The food came out pretty quickly though!

Great AYCE place with lots of options. Pretty popular spot do there was a bit of a wait. It can accommodate a large group (8+) but again, plan ahead. Service was quick and friendly. We didn't have any problems with finding parking.

Pretty but gave us food poisoning

This used to be our go to, we used to love this place, now the service is mediocre and the food makes us sick. Server: Name started with a J but other than that she mostly hid in the back. Ordered two sodas but had to ask another server due to her forgetting to bring it. She also did not bring out food, or offer a check. Overall do not understand how she is still employed here. Ambiance: The menus are new and very clear and visibility appealing. Food: Fish is old and had a bad smell. When telling the server she simply said "Sorry" but did nothing to attempt to resolve the problem. Overall: Food looks pretty but appearances are highly deceiving.

Services were great! They gave us free scallops on the house so I thought that was neat. My favorite was the giant salmon and the mango rolls! It was rrally good and very fulfilling. I would definitely come back. We were LOADED

Heemo Sushi brings bold flavors, big rolls, and a surprisingly fun atmosphere--perfect for families, celebrations, or anyone craving generous portions. Parking & Vibe Plenty of parking (love that), spotless inside and out, and the holiday decorations gave the space a warm, festive touch. ‍‍ Family-Friendly + Celebration Energy Heemo earns bonus points for a solid kids menu (ages 8 and under) with options like chicken teriyaki, popcorn chicken, tonkatsu, and even a tempura party--each served with rice, waffle fries, and a drink. And if you're celebrating? They go full send with birthday chants and sake bomb chants--definitely adds to the fun. Service Started strong, but we definitely felt the shift change when our server disappeared and follow-up stalled. Not a dealbreaker, just noticeable. Rolls & Flavors Heemo's specialty rolls are huge--hard to eat in one bite but absolutely feel worth the price. Presentation was on point, and the flavors delivered. We tried: * Heemo Roll - spicy, crunchy, and saucy in all the right ways. * Sunkist - bright, citrusy, refreshing. * Midnight - deep-fried indulgence with jalapeño heat. * King Salmon - bold, layered, and generous. * Truffle Salmon Blue Crab - luxuriously balanced. Plus a crispy, satisfying salmon skin hand roll. Final Thoughts Great portions, lively energy, family-friendly touches, and solid flavors make Heemo Sushi a worthy stop. Minor service dip aside, Heemo brings big bites, big vibes, and elite-worthy value.

Sweetie Roll, Avocado Roll, and deep fried eggplant!

Great environment, food, and atmosphere! My daughter and I are both vegetarian, and there were plenty of options for us--I got the Sweetie Roll and she got the Avocado Roll! We also shared the fried eggplant, which was delicious. My only complaint (and the reason I give 4 stars instead of 5) is that the service is not as good as it could be. Our waiter was nice, but he only came to bring drinks and food--he never returned to the table or checked on us. Other than that, great restaurant!

California Roll was delicious. And the spicy tina roll was great with a spicy kick.

From the outside it looks like an average restaurant but inside is alive and well. The service is great and attentive. We ordered 4 rolls and the quality was good. The only issue we had is all the rolls we had were rolled into large pieces. We had trouble eating them without falling apart. Aside from that we were good with the taste and presentation.

The King Dragon Roll !! I get it every time !

Heemo is still one of my favorite places to go get my sushi fix and they have not been skimping on sushi slices so I've been more than happy when visiting here. Service has been great lately and they are fast at helping you.

(Late post, this review is for 12/31/25) Heemo is now my place to go for Japanese food. Conveniently located at the corner of Katella & Tustin which has plenty of parking. Food is delicious & price is reasonable. Service was quick & attentive. My daughter wants to come here for her birthday (her favorite place). We ordered Double Baked Salmon ($16), Caliente ($18). Caliente is my daughter's absolute favorite. She will order this plate every single time we go. Sunkist ($16) Double Albacore ($16) Popcorn crawfish ($8). All were excellent except Popcorn Crawfish (mostly just the fried batters) After we finished our food, the birthday celebration begins. Light was dimmed, up beats birthday song on the speaker. The waitresses came to our table to give the bday girl a build in lighted paper flower crown to wear on her head while clapping & singing a birthday song. They also brought a plate of Green Tea flavor fried mochi ice cream with candle. The Mochi ice cream was so so good & it's free. It was so special. What a nice surprise! Since then, we have been back many times, especially on our birthdays. Thank you Heemo & staffs for the great experience. We will see you soon

Ramen

There is something about Heemo Sushi that I really like. I think it has to do with the fact that I enjoy every dish they have to offer. Some places have great sashimi, while other places have great rolls. Heemo has both. But that is not all. Their small plates are so delicious as well! We came for dinner last night as a party of 3. We ordered their sashimi platter, couple rolls, and small plates. Hubbie wanted their ramen as well. As the dishes came out, I started thinking we ordered too much. But by the end, we finished almost everything LOL. That's how much we enjoyed their dinner. Their sashimis are great, very generous in size and tastes buttery. I don't normally enjoy rolls, but their rolls were very good. Their fried dishes are SO good. Tonkatsu was a favorite by us all. Highly recommend their salmon collar as well. Service was spectacular. It gets busy, but the wait goes by fast. We all agreed that their food was fresh and we didn't feel nasty stuffed after. I can't wait to go back and try their other items next time.

Scallop Roll Had to return. Tasted suspiciously bad.

Ask the Community - Heemo Sushi

This place is marked as having outdoor seating. Is it still available?

I haven't seen outdoor seating there since the pandemic started. They may have had it at one point but the tables and chairs haven't returned as of a few weeks ago when I was last there.

Does restaurant have Happy Hour specials?

They do but you wont notice it on your bill cause they always tweek the prices so there's really not much of a discount.

Do they offer delivery?

You can use a food delivery service like uber eats, but they don't deliver themselves.

Do they still have their 50% off promotion?

No they do not

Is there phone number even working?

Works once a month when we order. This is from their website Call us at 714-997-9953

Is the 50% off also for AYCE?

No. They're not doing AYCE right now.

How much is the charge for left overs?

Any establishment that offers "All you can eat" will generally charge you if there are left overs or waste. However, if the amount is small, I doubt Heemo Sushi will charge. It's bad for business and I suppose one could always state that it didn't…

How does the buy one get one free option work?

The BOGO applies to the category you order. For example, you may order Salmon sushi and your BOGO can be Albacore sushi. So you cannot order sushi and have your BOGO be a roll. BUT not everything on the menu is BOGO, the server normally lets you…

What are the prices?

The $27 or ao price is for all you can eat, I believe. The single roll price was around $7 or $8+ dollars. The Kamakazi Roll was great.

Do they have sake?

Yes, however, they are waiting on a re-submission for the establishment's alcohol license. This should be cleared up soon. However, if you're really in the need for some at your table bring in your favorite and share it with the chef...get a…

How much is AYCE lunch?

As of January 2020, $23.95 or something like that. Basically $24 and the lunch AYCE is not offered on weekends. Weekends are AYCE dinner ~ $30.

Is this a Japanese owned or Korean owned sushi restaurant? Thank you!

Korean owned. Super friendly, quick service, and quality sushi.

Is there a certain menu only for all you can eat?

For Lunch you do have a specific selection for the AYCE which leaves out the Premium Expensive stuff $12+ items. The Dinner menu allows for all options. Pretty much everything…

What is inside the non-rice rolls? I cannot find any descriptions for those rolls

Usually, it's "California" fusion (Imitation Crab, Japanese Mayo, Garlic powder mixed). However, the Mr and Mrs Gaga rolls are usually Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon. The other non-rice rolls are usually a mix of the 3 mentioned.

This spot was unexpectedly a very well crafted sushi place with delicious takes on classic rolls!…read moreThe name Wazabi Sushi makes it sound like a fusion spot, but I found it to be decorated quite traditionally inside. My friend and I were seated immediately at a booth table for a Sunday around 7pm. We shared Gloria's Special Roll, Medusa Roll, Nemo roll, and miso soup. The chefs made them fresh behind the open concept counter and were expertly rolled. I loved the arrangement of the Medusa Roll as a circle. It had white fish tempura on the inside -- something I had never heard of before! This roll was my favorite because it balanced so well with the jalapeño, avocado, spicy mayo, seared tuna, fried onion and garlic ponzu. My friend had never tried soy paper before so we ordered Gloria's Special Roll which had a punchier flavor due to the sauce and onions (not spicy). Inside it comes with tuna, shrimp tempura, and avocado in soy paper. It was topped with yellowtail, salmon, jalapeño, fresh red onion, and ceviche sauce! We both loved the Nemo roll as well, which came with spicy shrimp & crab and avocado on the inside. It was topped with salmon, eel sauce, chili oil, creamy sauce, masago, and green onion. I will say that each roll was on the pricier end, ranging from $20-22 each. I wouldn't typically pay this much for a roll but their fish quality and attention to detail is good, and it completed a very satisfying dinner in the Orange Circle.

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.

I decided to give it another chance today and ordered something super simple and safe for lunch: a shrimp crunch roll and a cucumber salad. To say I was disappointed the moment I saw the food is an understatement. The roll was so oversized and thinly put together that there was no way to pick it up or eat it without it completely falling apart--and sure enough, it did immediately. I ended up having to eat the entire thing like a rice bowl, just picking at the ingredients. The cucumber salad, especially at $7.50, was also extremely disappointing. The cucumbers were all sliced at completely different thicknesses--some were incredibly thick while others were paper thin--and it was basically just cucumbers with soy sauce poured over them. It had almost no flavor. There just seemed to be absolutely no effort put into making the food taste good, look good, or even be practical to eat. It honestly made me wonder who is back there preparing the food and why there doesn't seem to be any quality control. I ended up throwing away about half of my meal because it simply wasn't enjoyable or properly put together.

I always get the combo special, which includes any of their ramen bowls paired with one of the eligible sides or rolls. My go-to is the spicy tonkotsu ramen without bean sprouts or mushrooms. For the combo, I usually get the spicy tuna crispy rice along with my go-to ramen. What I love most about Ramen Mura is the quality of their broth and how they consistently nail the spice level. This is a great spot for spicy ramen if you want a noticeable kick without having the heat completely overpower the flavor. I used to come here pretty frequently last year, at one point even once a week, and one of the biggest reasons was the consistency of both the food and customer service. Unfortunately, today's experience with the service was quite disappointing. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but it was a pretty bizarre experience. We were about halfway through our ramen bowls, so we put in the order, hoping the extra noodles would arrive around the time we finished our initial servings. About 10 minutes passed, and we had both finished our ramen, but our extra noodles were nowhere to be found. We started visibly looking around for assistance, and although the staff noticed us looking, no one acknowledged us. They seemed particularly attentive to other tables, which made the situation even more frustrating since we were clearly trying to get someone's attention. What made it even stranger was that when we initially ordered the extra noodles, our server relayed the order to the chef, who then started staring at us. It almost seemed like he was questioning why we wanted more noodles or thought we were ordering too much, but I can't say for sure what he was thinking. We eventually asked another waiter about our order, and he told us the noodles would be out in a few minutes. By that point, my broth was getting cold, so we told him we no longer wanted them. Suddenly, he responded, "Actually, it's coming out right now." Oh, really? Interesting timing. We requested canceling the order, but then felt pressured to taking the extra sides of noodles since "suddenly" it was ready even though our broth was cold at this point. Anyways, the food was tasty as always! Despite today's unusual and frustrating experience, I do want to give credit where it's due. When I visited more frequently, this place genuinely was top-notch in both food and service. The owner has always been incredibly kind and makes an effort to ensure everyone is enjoying their meal, which I really appreciate. I'd still recommend giving Ramen Mura a try, especially for the flavorful broth and well-balanced spicy ramen. While today's service experience was disappointing, it doesn't completely erase the many great experiences I've had here in the past. I've also noticed they get quite a few takeout orders, so that could be worth checking out, too!
