    Unagi Kabayaki

We had not been here for a bit and there has been slight adjustment to their menu. Our go to was the unagi bowl for my son and I but we recently tried their unagi kabayaki and it was delicious. Last time we went it took a little longer but it came out sizzling and fresh. Price point is a little higher but you get a salad now. Service most recently was slow with getting water and our kids spam musubi's took longer than our kabayaki's to come out but I gave them grace since they were really busy. Overall, enjoyed our meal. Our kids love this place. Nice option to have lots of appetizer options, ramen and sushi.

Decided to-go was the best move and I give them all stars for how bomb this all tastes as a to-go meal. I was worried the sushi would get warm and noodles would get too soggy but they package everything just right so all that isn't a worry. This place always hits and most definitely worth it.

The place is pretty small but very nicely decorated. The services was good and the staff was very on top of everything. They have a deal where you can add a on items to a ramen purchase for 5 or 8 dollars. We did the 8 and got the specialty roll angrytail. I didn't care for it too much.. it was nice and spicy though. The gyozas were by far my favorite. The dipping sauce went well with it. The spicy ramen wasn't very spicy and it was a little bland... I had to add soy sauce and garlic which vastly improved it. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had a great texture. I would still come back again and try a different roll and ramen. Wish I could rate 3.5

This is a cozy place that can get crowded during peak hours so I would recommend getting here right before it gets busy. The staff is helpful and attentive. We ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and black ramen. Spicy Tonkotsu- This has a pork broth base that has a good amount of spice. The chashu is juicy and tender. Wood ear mushrooms, bean sprouts, green onion, and seaweed add a variety of textures and flavors. Finished with a creamy soft-boiled egg. Black Ramen- The black garlic flavor is strong and makes the pork broth base extra savory. Chashu is tender. Topped with wood ear mushrooms, bean sprouts, green onion, and seaweed that complement the broth. Can never go wrong with the soft-boiled egg. Great hearty meal, especially on a chilly day!

I was craving sushi and my niece wanted soup so she found this place nearby for lunch. She ended up getting spicy ramen with a California roll while I opted for unagi with a chef's choice sushi. Everything came out quick, hot and delicious. The unagi was served sizzling on a hot plate with broccolini, and was served with a side of cucumbers, rice, and salad. The restaurant is in a strip mall so there isn't a problem finding parking. The servers were also pretty attentive too. I would definitely come back!

Sunday lunch, a few people inside but not busy. Ordered a tonkotsu and a habanero miso. Pretty hearty bowls for around 14 bucks. Soft boil eggs with pork or ground meat. Habanero wasn't crazy spicy but will kick you in the throat. Tokotsu was standard. Overall I think this place is sufficient for a ramen fix but not anything to rave about. Cheaper than other ramen places in the area

Craving ramen in a cloudy day and this was the closest to us. Came during a weekday lunch hour. Opted for the tonkatsu ramen and added the karaage as a side for $1 and a side of fries and extra noodles to share with my toddler. We finished it all, broth was delicious, karaage was cooked just right. Staff was really nice.

Food was great, i ordered the dragon balls & miso ramen. Dragon balls came out quick and they actually had a lot of filling, most places it's extra breading so it's trash. The ramen was what you'd expect from a regular miso

This is one of my favorite restaurants to get a quick lunch! The service is always pleasant and fast. It can get full pretty quick since the restaurant is pretty small but its never been a problem. They have music playing comfortably. This time I opted for the shrimp tempura, a sun-kissed roll and the spider roll. Everything was delicious! The presentation is always fun and cute!

Restaurant was clean and tables well set. Came at 3 PM so not many people were there. Service was fast and servers were kind and attentive. The food was fair. Not bad, not amazing, just around the "OK" range. Spicy tonkatsu ramen was not very spicy. Soup base wasn't as rich and flavorful as I would have liked it. Noodles were cooked to a good chewiness in my opinion. Chashu pieces weren't very tender, but had good fat content. As with the food as a whole, it was okay, acceptable, and fair. For $14 I'd say that I'm willing to spend a little more to eat at a better ramen place I'd rate this place a 5.5/10 (0 - absolutely terrible, 10 - extremely amazing) Nothing that stands out. Nothing wrong either. More or less the definition of "mid".

Service was good. Ambiance was causal ramen house. Food was good. Go give this business a try.

Everytime we visit, the food is so fresh and piping hot. Wonderful for this rainy time of year. We love the black garlic and spicy, my daughter loves the chicken and we always order extra noodles on the side for my son. Clean restaurant, with a wait sometimes but well worth it. Friendly staff - we appreciate you!!

The ramen here is pretty solid, and the combos they have are hella worth it. I ended up getting the black ramen and combo's it with the jalapeño poppers which were so filling and spicy. My friends order did end up getting messed up where she had asked for tofu instead of minced beef in her ramen since she is a vegetarian, but they brought out the ramen with the beef. They did replace her ramen though with the tofu after though!! If you are looking to try a new ramen place, I'd definitely recommend trying this place out!

Everything tasted incredibly fresh and well balanced. * Crispy Rice & Tuna: Don't sleep on the appetizers! Servers are friendly and service is always good, as it should be since they apply an automatic 18% tip on the bill. One complaint I have is the portion size on the ramen - it's almost $20 for a bowl but doesn't have enough noodles as I would like. I always feel content but not full so if they were to add more noodles, it would have been a 5 star for me.

You could definitely feel/taste the collagen in the broth which was nice. The pork belly was a bit tough and dry though. Portion wise it's pretty small. At first I was considering doing the lunch special where you can add a beef or chashu bowl for an additional $6, but I thought, "Nah, that's going to be too much food." A Legendary Slurp - Gone But Never Forgotten It is a true…read moretragedy for the Orange County food scene that Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa has closed its doors. This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

Being that I had never been there before, I wasn't sure what to get so I pretty much just blurted out whatever. What we ordered: 1) Black deluxe chicken paitan with pork - the broth was so tasty, it was absolutely delicious. The pork slices were generous, however, it was DRY. 2) Pork chashu - for my kid. They loved the broth as well and also felt that the pork slices were dry. I wanted to give 4 out of 5 stars, but I am going to hand them a 3. I loved the tasty broth, but the pork was too dry. How could you mess that up as a ramen restaurant? The portions looked a little smaller than what I am used to paying for much less money. That photo of my black deluxe chicken paitan with pork is very deceiving. It looks like a lot, but it definitely wasn't. I usually can't finish my bowl of ramen in one sitting and take the other half home. I barely had any broth in there, and being that the broth was very good, I was disappointed to run out of it before I was even done with the noodles and meat. Would I return? Sure. I liked the food.
