I ate in here for lunch, their food was ok for the most part. Main problem I had was their Unagi had tons of bones in it.

Initial thoughts - hard to find parking since this place is located around apartment buildings. Came here on New Years Day and it was somewhat empty. The menu that was provided to us smelled like old, dirty, moist towels. Food - ordered the tri color tartar as the appetizer and it was decent. No chips or anything to eat the fish with. Salmon and yellowtail were good but the tuna was fishy. Also ordered 7 rolls. All were okay. The "roll" of the rolls were not consistent and the sushi wasn't spread evenly throughout each roll. Service - was good. Our waitress was attentive and polite. Overall, this is an okay place to get your sushi fix but don't have any expectations. read more

Definitely my favorite sushi place in Brooklyn. I come here all the time and they never dissapoint. Their spicy kani roll is probably my favorite and I love any roll they have with salmon or tuna. They're very generous with the amount of fish in the roll and it's always fresh. I would also recommend their rock shrimp appetizer. Prices are what you'd expect from a sushi place. They recently rose a little, but it's definitely worth it for the quality of sushi! Service is always good and delivery time is very fast! read more

We once picked up from here and dined in today on mother's day. Both experience were quite satisfying. My brother usually gets irritated by the common smell of the sushi places, especially if you are sushi newbie like him, it bothers more. But this place should have a really good ventilation system that you do not feel it. Since it is mother day, place has been decorated with balloons. We thought there was a party but there were not and we were lucky to get one of few available tables. They offered green tea to start, then took our order. We got California, Boston, Chicken Tempura and Shrimp Tempura from the classics, and wanted to try a signature one, picked Green Lawn. 8 pieces were $15, we only managed to eat 5, it was not for our taste maybe so I only do not recommend that type, rest was good, especially the chicken tempura. Fried ice-cream is a must, my favorite is red bean. That was nice too. $35 is a really good price for 2 people. Would recommend and come back. Minimum for credit card is $10. read more

I came here with a party of 3 and ate a lot! Their sushi is really fresh and they don't skim on the sashimi. I ate an interesting combination of beef and ramen noodles pan fried instead of in a soup. My friend ordered that for us and it was one of those things we ordered outside of the regular menu. They have a very wide selection of rolls and my favorite one was the spider roll. The soft shell crab is fried just right and is very crispy. They certainly don't skim on the amount of crab they give you in each roll. Some other items we had were the shrimp tempura, beef udon, mango chicken w/ rice, spicy tuna roll, unagi roll, and the mango avocado roll. The service here is really quick and friendly. The restaurant gave us edamame on the house and pineapple slices for desert. read more

This is my go to sushi restaurant in south Brooklyn. Their sushi crafters are very talented and skilled handed workers. The rolled sushi is very delicate, properly proportioned which makes for a very yummy sushi experience. For appetizer you must get the beef negamaki and the seared tuna salad. Their spicy white tuna roll is something I always order because its that good. Their sashimi is good and only $1 a piece. Here's a bonus that I'm giving always as a freebie: have a side order of their hibachi fried rice, its only $3 but worth every penny because its delicious. read more

I ordered for delivery... during lunch time on a weekday. The order came within the 30 mins that was promised. The doorbell ringing scared me to death! I ordered the chicken teriyaki special... it came with rice and miso soup on the side. Not a big fan. I don't even have high standards for chicken... if the sauce is good, then great. But this sauce tasted so bland that I couldn't even finish the order even though I was starving. The rice was good though, perfect texture. Your typical sushi stop at Sheepshead Bay. I haven't been there for over a year and decided to stop by for a quick dinner two weeks ago. We've ordered three regular rolls, one special roll and rock shrimp tempura to share. Shrimp tempura was really good, however, I felt that the portion was small for the price. Rolls were made from fresh ingredients. The total came down to $37, which was totally acceptable for the food and service we've received. This spot is the best little hole in the wall. I order delivery and stop by once in a while for a nice lunch. The staff are always nice and the rolls are fresh made for you on the spot whole you wait. Our favorite plate that my daughter's and I enjoy the most is the Mango Kani salad, Mango California rolls and the Angry Dragon lobster rolls. Our favorite desert is the red bean Ice cream and the Green tea Ice creams. It may be too soon to tell and I don't want to jinx anything, but I may have found my favorite sushi spot based on today's experience! Walked in around 3:00 and quite a few people were sitting down seemingly enjoying their food. They looked happy anyway. Excellent sign. Based on the description, I decided to order the Lady Gaga Roll, which had shrimp tempura, mang and asparagus on the inside and lobster salad and salmon I think with some kind of special sauce on the outside. The fish was very fresh and quite tasty. My taste buds were delighted in a way they never were before with sushi. Will definitely return to try some more items such as shumai and a duck roll. UPDATE - Had the duck roll and steamed shumai yesterday, both of which were excellent. Oh and the lady that took my order was very sweet and welcoming. Definitely found my new sushi spot! Favorite sushi restaurant in Brooklyn! Fish is always fresh and delicious. From appetizers I love the sushi pizza and the tuna dumplings. The pizza is definitely one of the best ones I have tried! They have a good variety of special rolls as well. Some of my favorites are the fantastic roll, Sakura roll, and mango Hawaii roll (It comes with black rice). I went here for my graduation and it was great! The chef cooks right in front of you & does the cutest tricks with the oil and eggs. This evening, I had one thing in mind - bento box. I ordered the $15 fish katsu bento box. Very generous, this box contained 15 dollars worth of food: a 6-piece california roll, 3 shumai, 2 pcs of shrimp tempura, 5 pcs of assorted veggie tempura, a scoop of white rice, a filet of fish katsu, AND miso soup AND salad topped with a generous amount of ginger carrot dressing. After I finished my salad, I added rice to the remaining ginger carrot dressing (I didn't want to waste a drop of the dressing). I'm glad I did b/c my friend told me her brother bought several brands of ginger carrot dressing from various grocery stores - none can compare to the dressing at Hayashi. My friend ordered a bento box too, but her's contained beef teriyaki. I can assure, the beef was tender though I didn't care for the teriyaki sauce. We finished our meal with fried green tea ice cream ($3.50). When it arrived on our table, we didn't expect to see a log-shaped fried ice cream. This dessert is typically the shape of a baseball. In any case, it was delicious on the inside (a small portion of green tea ice cream) & outside (deep-fried batter, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, and a little whipped cream from an aerosol can). With all the Sushi choices in the nearby area it is hard to settle on a favorite, so I keep this one in my rotation.
