I have driven by here many times but have never tried it. 3 Stars barely... Very limited selection, nothing fancy and mostly rice, rice and more rice. Pork and chicken are sitting on a pile of rice with more rice served on the side. You can get Mac and cheese but who wants that from Hawaii? As far as taste, let's just say that it's edible. If it wasn't for the sauces they provide (containers laying around that everyone touches) the meal would be bland and dry. The conclusion: great place to Cosplay as a homeless person that's so hungry anything tastes okay. Save your money for that ticket to Maui! read more

Hawaiian Time - #3. Huli Huli Chicken with extra Mac. - Hawaiian Near Me - Beaverton, Oregon

I'm not sure what people are expecting from Hawaiian Time, but I got a Regular Huli Huli Chicken plate today and it was delicious. There is a sign at the drive-thru speaker that they are under-staffed (no shocker there these days), but I didn't wait more than 10 minutes for my order. I believe the owner was working the drive-thru along side a skeleton crew. I would 1000x's rather support a local place versus the mega chain next door. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because they didn't have chicken katsu, but knowing what the options are now, is still go back. And also their hours are pretty limited it seems but that's probably to do with staffing. Overall, Portion was a good size for the price, tasted delicious, service was great. read more

Used to love this place and just went back for the first time post Covid. They wouldn't give any cups of sauce when asked even though it's clearly behind the counter. Seems like they don't even sauce the food at all now so it's just dry chicken and rice. Only one person working who was prioritizing the drive thru while food was just sitting in the window for a long time. So prepare yourself for a long unnecessary wait. Saw people waiting 10+ minutes to even order. If you want your food in a hurry go through the drive thru clearly. read more

Oh Hawaiian time we gave you one more try. Last night we got huli huli chicken. Two large orders for $10.50 each. Leftovers galore. The girl at the drive up was nice. Inside it looked clean enough. Today we are both miserably sick with tummy issues. I will spare you all the gory details. Nope. No more. If you want Hawaiian go to Roxy's or 808 or the place in Forest Grove. Skip this. read more

They were really short handed and I felt bad for the employees. But other than a short wait to order, they got the food out in very little time. So very tasty. And the staff was really friendly. It's a shame they don't have a kids menu, but honestly you can just order the large version of the platter and share. My 7-year-old, when asked if he was done, said "it's too good for me to be done!" He then ate every grain of rice off his plate. I'd like me you don't care for macaroni salad, they are happy to sub extra rice for it. Plus, cool surfing photos! read more

We have always enjoyed going to the two Hawaiian Times in Salem for the past few years. The drive thru person ignored our order it seems as we got the completely wrong order. We asked for two mixed plates, and right after we finished ordering the first one, she interrupted and asked, is that it? We let her know that we were getting two mixed plates. So we proceeded to repeat the order with what meats we wanted for each plate. Once we got to the window, she asked us if we wanted to leave a tip, we said "yes," but she never asked us how much. Then she gave us our food and turned around. We had to get her attention again to get some extra sauces. When we got home we opened the containers and to our surprised both containers were exactly the same. It tasted like grilled chicken with sweet and spicy sauce (the kind you normally get with egg rolls). Which is whatever, but not even close to what we ordered. None of the meats we asked for were included and to top it off, mixed plates with beef are more expensive, which is what we ordered. So we paid for a mixed plate with beef, and we got a plate with that odd chicken without beef. It's a shame, because we have enjoyed our experiences in the ones in Salem and this one really ruined it for us. Thankfully now that we live in Beaverton we can go to Roxy's Island Grill, which is slightly cheaper and tastes SO much better, and it's made to order. We just wanted to give Hawaiian Time another shot. It was so disappointing! It was our first meal of the day so we ate it. Limiting outings and social distancing added to the fact that we didn't want to go back out in the hopes of maybe getting what we wanted to begin with. Skip this one. Go to Roxys and next time you're in Salem try what Hawaiian Time is supposed to be like! read more

The food is amazing!! The Huli Huli chicken and vegetables is the best. The service is fast and delicious.

Owner of Hawaiian time likes to park his vehicle in the middle of the small parking lot behind his establishment. The owner parks it in the middle of this parking lot so people aren't able to exit to the main road. This makes it very difficult to get in and out of the parking lot and also makes it to where people have to go an unnecessarily longer distance to leave the parking lot. The establishment also looks very poorly taken care of, no hate on the establishment just the fact that the owner does this is unacceptable. read more

I have driven by a couple of times and really wondered how this place would be. I happened to be there this time around lunch time, so I stopped. I decided on the chicken plate. YUMMM. The chicken was perfectly tender and delicious. Added some of their teriyaki sauce over the rice and again, YUMMMM. The mac salad was the only weak part of the meal for me. Very heavy mayo taste and I'm really not a fan of pepper in mac salad. Maybe next time, I'll try to order an extra scoop of rice and skip the mac salad. They come in 3 sizes. Small was good for lunch as I wasn't too hungry today. Regular would probably be fine most times and the large, well, I'd have to share that one! read more

This is the third Hawaiian time I have gone to and the food is very good. I have had better but it's never a bad meal. That alone would give it 4 stars. This group seems to find vacant buildings and re purpose them to become Hawaiian times. The ones in Eugene and West Salem are old gas stations. This one is obviously a former Burger King. Not the best in atmosphere but as long as the food keeps coming out like this I'll keep coming back read more

What used to be one of my favorite restaurants has taken a turn for the horrible. Despite the reinforcement of the indoor mask mandate, multiple employees were without masks, including at least one of the cooks and the person taking orders (i.e. DIRECTLY INTERACTING WITH CUSTOMERS), who appears to be an owner/manager. Already filed an OSHA complaint, but I thought the public deserved to know, too. On top of that, they placed fliers all over their entrances and drive-thru blaming the unemployment benefits on their reduced hours (rather than them not paying enough to attract employees)...at the same time they've been expanding their number of locations. read more

Ordered on DoorDash Worst food I ever had! Teriyaki sauce horrible. Mac salad horrible, wasn't even mixed properly. In the middle there was no dressing on it. No flavor. Chicken didn't taste like it was supposed to. Rice was cooked well. read more

While I probably won't ever come back to these restaurants I was always a fan before recently. I used to live in Eugene right next time one of these places. I didn't know there was one here until about two weeks ago when I was working nearby! The food is pretty good pretty consistent between all locations I have been to. They have three side options and each comes with a good amount of food for the price. So if there is nothing else this place isn't too bad to eat at. The problem that I now have with the place is the sign they have posted around the restaurant blaming their lack of employees on people collecting unemployment. I personally couldn't imagine someone who would post a sign like this being good person to work for. I would bet their staffing issue is caused by not paying their employees enough and being a poor work environment. On top of all that they don't accept pennies, which i get it can be annoying accepting change but it's still valid money. read more

We intended to go to another eatery and the line was out the door. Thankfully Hawaiian Time was near and had good reviews. The parking lot was empty and only one other couple was in the restaurant, so honestly, I didn't expect much. I was blown away. Each member of our party of three had something different and each item was delicious! I can't wait to return! Next time I'll get a larger portion so I have leftovers to taken home. read more

This spot was super kind and had amazing service! They ensured our order was correct multiple times and the food was great!

This place has been smelling up my neighborhood like burnt so he sauce for years finally decide to give it a try. I've been to Hawaii many times, this is not a Hawaiian food, it is horrible! Had to wait very long time for overly salty overly sweet bad food, heard it's going to be replaced by in and out soon, can't be soon enough!! read more

Contrary to most other people, I genuinely enjoy Hawaiian Time. I've been going here since 2012 and their Huli Huli chicken is like nothing else that any Hawaiian restaurant offers. I wish they were closer because I'd go here a lot more often. The service is quick and friendly and the staff is very attentive. Their food I feel is more wholesome than Roxys or 808. You definitely get more for your money here as well. read more

I'm sorry I ever cheated on you Roxy ....it will never happen again! Despite some of the reviews I have friends that rave about this place. I DO NOT understand why. I came in not with overly high hopes, but thinking I was going to get a somewhat decent Hawaiian meal. I chose the #6...sweet & spicy chicken. $7.95. The rice tasted some what dried out, the mac salad was passable but not that great, and the chiken....I could have made at home...but better. The chicken was cut into cubes and had a ton of fat on it. So much so I didn't eat half of it. You can tell the sauce was just something out of a bottle. Not really great options for vegeterians and about 2-3 options each of beef/chicken/pork. Upside? They have a drive through since it used to be a Burger King. That's neat I guess? The staff was friendly and the place is clean and bright. That's where my 2 stars are going. Unfortunately I would not come back. There are much better options for the same price and others that will give you a large enough portion for 2 days. Sorry Hawaiian Time. Not impressed. read more

A MEAL FIT FOR A QUEEN!! Cynthia and Roel made this experience excellent for me. I will now call Hawaiian Time part of my routine every Thursday, they solidified their sale with their amazing customer service and heartfelt humanity that is sorely lacking in this world. Roel has taken my order before, and always presents himself in a professional and respectful manner. Cynthia had my order ready and our interaction was delightful! Afterwards, she showed me where the sauces were and asked if I needed anything extra to make my experience here better. No, nothing is needed because between amazing quality Hawaiian food and customer service this Hawaiian Time has everybody beat! Thank you to the staff for making this an experience I will remember. P.s. I got the Kalua Pig, Huli Huli Chicken and extra Mac Salad! The BOMB!!!!! read more

I've been coming here for awhile, even though one summer when we had those 100 degree days their manager apparently didn't want to spend the money on the AC, SO IT WAS ACTUALLY HOTTER. inside than it was outside. That's not my complaint, my complaint is I went through the drive in the other night and even though it may seem cheap I never leave a tip for the drive in, yet some how they charged me an extra 2 dollars. Yes it's only 2 dollars, but it's my 2 dollars. This unfortunately will be enough for me to never go back and i really enjoy the food. Make sure you check your bank accounts after you go here. ** Edited** So I frequent the cigar lounge up the street from Hawaiian time, and the manager came in, I told him what happened and he's giving me a free lunch. What a gentleman. That's shit done right. read more

CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE LEAVING. My diabetic friend ordered a plate last night; he asked for no rice, and he paid $3 to sub rice for extra vegetables. The entire meal was on top of rice and there were no extra veggies. Seemed like some stony employees were a little out of it. The food was really good so I'm giving this review 4 stars although the service deserves 1. I don't believe in bashing restaurants on yelp especially during a pandemic, but if you're ordering food from here I would check the order before leaving the store to make sure it's correct. read more

What kind of restaurant don't take orders over the phone?! SMH online orders only. Waste of time

I have been driving out of my way to come to Hawaiian Time for years. I first fell in love with this pepper Mac salad in Eugene during college. This last visit was the worst I've ever had. I always order the #6 Mauna Loa chicken. This chicken was full of questionable meat and I even bit into bones. The chicken was also not cut up into the usual sized bites, it was large and not prepared well. Super disappointed. read more

I walked out of this restaurant full and the food didn't taste bad. I had the huli huli chicken with rice and mac salad. The rice was cooked well. The mac salad was al dente which I didn't mind, better than overcooked and mushy, a little too much mayo, but too much black pepper for my taste. I was very disappointed in the huli huli chicken because it was not the huli huli chicken I was used to. If you have lived in Hawaii and then come here hoping it to taste the same, you may be disappointed like me. Another thing was that they only had three choices of meat: huli huli chicken, kalua pork and spicy chicken. Bring back a beef choice, Teriyaki or kalbi or both. read more

Horrible service and management here. I called in an order; they asked how long I would be to which I said 10 minutes. 30 minutes later I got my food. When I asked the person at the counter (with blue hair) why they asked how long it would take for me to get there, they gave me a filler answer about not wanting the food to get cold, followed up with a very condescending "please be patient." At that point I had waiting 25 minutes. I was being patient . Overall I would give the service at this location less than 1 if I could read more

I ordered the veggie plate and got my partner got the combo beef and huli chicken plate. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the chicken but didn't care for the beef. I ordered the veggie plate. It was horrible! The only thing that I enjoyed on the plate was the mac salad. The veggies were very obviously from a frozen bag and tasted so awful! I would never ever ever ever get the veggie plate again. read more

Full disclosure: the outside is a little run-down. BUT please look past that and get their food. I got the grilled chicken and veggies, substituting romaine for all the white rice. I kept the macaroni salad because I LOVE Hawaiian macaroni salad. And everything was just delicious. The teriyaki sauce is light and flavorful (not salty like some places make). The veggies are perfect: summer squash, ell pepper, mushrooms, onion, carrots, snow peas lightly grilled. Coupled with the crisp romaine and the creamy, yummy macaroni salad, it was very satisfying and I was a happy camper. I'll for sure go there again! Oh, and they have a drive-through, which is really convenient. read more

Go to Roxy's. They sell plates a certain size and hardly any food in them when you get it. You pretty much just paid for a to go box. I paid $11 for just chicken and veggies in a "regular" size plate. When I opened it there was barely enough food to cover th bottom of the plate. I can get the exact same thing at Roxy's for half that and way more food in a smaller container. read more

Fast Time Hawaiian Kind. Well, sort of. This is a fast food place with a hint of hawaiian flavor and teriyaki taste. The food was served up fast and there is a lot of it. My family ate it up as it was a hungry day. I've experienced better. Living in Peral City for a few years, I remember one church group right off the Kam Hwy that would start up rows and rows of barbecue racks and prepare chicken, pork and beef all day saturday. This accompanied with other home made local food stuffs was some good eating I tell you. Hawaiian Time is fast food Hawaiian Style, sort of. read more

The menu items were limited. I decided to try half and half of their beef and Mauna Loa Chicken plate. Beef was jerky and it lacked flavor. So the next time I eat here I would not get the beef.
