    Chicken Fried Steak Dinner

I have driven by this place for many years and decided tonight we are going to try it. I feel like I stepped back in time. We came in there are people in the lotto room and we are the only ones in the dining area. It is 7:40 pm. The restaurant is very clean. The radio is not too loud, so you don't have to shout over it. The person who took our order is very nice. Salad was fresh cut but only lettuce. (see picture) The beef noodle soup is tasty and full of noodles. Not much beef in it but it is really good and it is tender. The chili was very thick and good. The chicken fried steak got high praise. The BLT was good-just right and came with frilly toothpicks securing the atmosphere of going back in time! Nothing was wrong! Nothing was sent back. That is a first in a long time. Even the water was good! This place deserves more business! Hey- they survived Covid! We will come back! Our dinner for 2 was $31.85 What a deal! Now if you got a chef who can run a smoker and had it outside facing the street-every fisherman coming back from the coast would stop by! (If the salad had tomatoes and cucumbers you would have received a 5 star rating!)

Got the western chicken sandwich and my friend got the western burrito

Been here once so far and from that experience was great! Food came pretty fast and tasted good! Reasonable prices too. The lottery was kinda loud next to our table from the next room in case that might bother some people.

Tables saved in between others for safety.

What a yummy breakfast!! Dara our server was so sweet and pleasant. My chicken fried chicken was perfect and the hash browns are wonderful. I've eaten here many times and there isn't a miss on their breakfast menu. Anything you try will be delish!

    It is seriously dark inside.

Meh is right. On our constant search for a good diner style breakfast ( think Bertie Lou's) on the way to visit my mom in her care facility way out west, we landed here.Things were already awkward I don't know why we didn't just go to Hales...well we couldn't think of a reason TO go to Hales. That's a different story though. Sunset Grill, like the Don Henley song...right?hmm. Notsomuch. I've seen WAY too many episodes of Restaurant Impossible recently. The decor would make Robert Irvine get out his sledgehammer. Inside it had fake roof overhangs all the way around and was super dark with fairly ugly lamp fixtures and um, art. If you call it art. The restaurant is very dated. The booth was not comfy for this curvy girl. Tables are affixed into place. Princess was too far away and I was too close. The servers were sweet girls trying their best. They get a star. Princess' dad ordered a breakfast burrito. It arrived with crusty tortillas in two pieces (not cut in half but really two taco sized tortillas)...maybe microwaved or under the heat lamp too long?icky pace like salsa. Meh he said. Hash browns were ok. Princess ate half of those. With a lot of ketchup. I ordered a country scramble: eggs, potato chunks, cheddar shreds, rawish green pepper and onions, diced ham. Two very packagey biscuits. It was just ok. Princess ate the biscuits. With a lot of jam. Princess, against my advice ( she's 11 and apparently done listening for the next ten years)ordered mashed potatoes and gravy. Trouble ensued wherein her dad ( opposed to all beef consumption due to mad cow concerns was abruptly told by Princess she didn't care if there was beef because he's insane...) intervened. We had to ask the poor befuddled server girl what was in the gravy and she didn't know what we meant. "It comes in a packet" she says cheerfully. Ugh. She went and asked, and came back saying "pork." Confidence was low, for good reasons. The gravy was awful as were the potatoes which Princess believes were out of a box. She ate two bites, for $2.95. Yay. The coffee was meh, as expected. It is cheap. Breakfast was under $20 before tip. But we won't go back. And guess who had to make "real" mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner later? Humph.

Husband, daughter, and I had brunch here yesterday. Prices are great, food was all right. I had the Farm Boy, which is biscuits and gravy with corned beef hash in between. Actually quite delicious! My husband had a jalapeño cheeseburger, to which he said, "Meh." Server was nice, but seemed to be confused by my husband asking for a burger with pink inside. Their decaf coffee was not very good, and I have pretty low coffee standards haha. I used to come here with my family all the time when I was a kid, and I can honestly say that the decor is identical to how it was back then, which I actually love (nostalgia factor, I suppose). They have changed owners several times since then. Probably would eat here again, especially if the Elmer's down the road is crazy-busy.

this is kinda what the cheese looked like?

I am just not sure how to rate Casa Lola…read more.. My wife called at 10 to ask if they were open yesterday, (Sunday) as they were scheduled to serve brunch. She was told they open at noon?? Yet their website states the following: Sunday: 10:00 AM-9:00 PM I do see they have 4 stars overall. I gave it 5 stars a year and a half ago. It definitely doesn't warrant 5 stars. The scheduled hours in the front window area is missing half of the numbers. The threshold is filthy. The knife in my roll-up had something crusted on it. And we were told very nicely, by our server Johana, that she hoped the Chef would come back, as he had left earlier. Whew...he came in after we were there about 10 minutes. We arrived at 4:00. And the last irritant...the music sound level. I wanted to ask Johana to turn it down, but just put it off. We were told at 10:00 Casa Lola becomes a night club...fine, but at 4:00 on a Sunday. Johana was terrific and the food was good. My Al Pastor Tacos were okay. Not great, but not bad. Black beans and rice accompanied all of the dishes and they also were good...not great. My wife, being a vegetarian, had the Enchilada's stuffed with carrots and potatoes. She loved the sauce, even though it had queso fresco on top, as she had requested none be served. Again, Service 5 stars, Food 4 stars, Misc. 0 stars It will be interesting to see if the restaurant is open one year from now.

Oregon laws protect individuals from being treated differently because of their gender identity or sex. Other than common overpriced drinks, the men's restroom is a nightmare. The club BARELY OPENED and the floor was flooded with piss. No joke I had to buck my hips forward in order to reach the urinal. And the one single soap dispenser was empty? They send security to poke their head in but not a janitor to clean up? The whole dance floor was stained with piss. And all the men with piss on their hands passing drinks... At least invest in better sound equipment. Music quality is terrible. Louder doesn't mean better. Disappointed this is my towns club. Going back to portland.

The burgers for sure are great and fresh, too but the owners are unique..like country-Korean. I love it. I also love hole in d wall places with hand written notes. This place is legit. They told me to call back 40 minutes before to confirm it was on schedule. Just the phone call alone was a five star experience. Very helpful and effortlessly funny, I wanted to be friends! We picked up our order at 1:10pm and sat inside to eat. Wow so good. I'm not even that into burgers but these were delicious! The charcoal preparation and the months long bulgogi marinade were apparent and appreciated. We got the bulgogi, the hot-dog cheeseburger, and the kimchi burger. We loved them all but if I had to rank them, that's the order right there! Ambiance is cozy and approachable. The flavor experience was so out of body, it was hard to remember where I was. We're coming back!!

Our service was prompt, informative, friendly and exactly how I want my sandwich cut and presented. 3. I'd rather eat here, than to go food cart, or some other fast food joints. 4. Hammerhead is celebrating 40? Congrats! 5. I did like my Cranberry Chicken Salad, though, including my fries. 6. Hubby finished his hamburger and salad, and he said they were delicious! We still look forward to staying at one of their hotels, maybe we'll do that during our 2026 Road Trip - Bend? OK, here comes the negatives: 1. We followed the GPS, and we entered the parking lot, and parked. But, we didn't see but two other cars, one all banged up. We weren't sure where the front door (or door was). We continue driving, inside their lot, and parked again. But, we didn't want to enter from the hotel, or maybe we have to enter through there, to get to the diner. At this point, we both needed to use the restroom! We kept trying on every door, maybe it's this no it's that one, wait, it's locked. Oh, no! That's another room. Finally, we found someone to help us. Honestly, I almost didn't made it! 2. We waited a long time for our ticket. I know they're short staffed. As we were almost done, they were getting more crowded. 3. Mustard & Ketchup: Shake before bringing them to our table, so they looked like they're brand new bottles. See photo below, dried up, leftover ketchup on the bottom side of the bottle. At least, wipe it clean, so we don't gross out! 4. French Fries thinly sliced, nice & crispy, but for pete's sakes, remove the two burned fries off my plate. 5. My Chicken Salad looks pretty empty along the sides. It's plump in the middle. The wheat bread looks dry! 6. We were both craving for something cold, something maybe to bring back to our car (ice cream, sundae, something like that). As we were walking back to the (side of the building) to the door back out, we spotted an ice cream freezer, and our eyes lite up. But, $8 for ice cream sandwich? Forgetaboutit! We don't really need one that bad.

The parking lot wasn't too big from where we entered from what I assumed the back of the property, maybe they have more parking on the other side. We walked by the outdoor dining area but they were not open until later on Tuesdays so we opted to dine at the Ironwork Grill with 2 toddlers. They seemed like they were short-staffed but service was still decently friendly, even though understandably a little slower. I wanted the Fig and prosciutto flatbread but they didn't have it which was disappointing. We ordered kids meal and the burger with tots costed $8.25 and did not come with a drink. I did not think it was worth that (see picture). I got the Crab and Shrimp roll originally with Cajun tots, but what came out was the soup of the day (minestrone) which I didn't mind since it's probably better for me anyway, same $1 up-charge cost. There was a good amount of crab and shrimp inside but the bread roll was dry so the soup helped. I will say that their Lunch Box Special is worth it at around $11 for a half sandwich, soup, and salad. Next time I'll get that. Generally I do think McMenamins food is a little on the pricey side and the quality can vary depending on the day or which McMenamins property you are visiting. But I would come back to this location for happy hour, movies, or other events for sure!
