The food was good. Super friendly people behind the bar. Nice crowd and not very loud.

Great beer selection (and killer Bloody Mary's!) made even better by an awesome staff.

You can go to most locations and get the same items with a few unique things to that location. My friend I go to shows with a lot is vegan so we know she can get a solid meal and they're usually open late too since we're food hunting around 10ish. I wasn't familiar with the layout of the grounds and it can be a challenge to get around in the pitch dark. We were coming in 1030pm on a Saturday and it is a venue. Unfortunately, I followed the directions. The powers that be put a huge EXIT ONLY sign at the parking lot entrance. I figured, looking at my GPS, that they were directing traffic to the back of the grounds so that people like us were not met with a bunch of cars coming right at them, trying to get out after the concert since this is also a hotel and restaurants/bars that people stay at or eat/drink at who have nothing to do with the concert. Fast forward a solid 15-20 minutes where my GPS was pointing the way, and I could clearly see where we needed to go... BUT they had a giant fence with padlocks blocking the road meaning that the only road in was the one blocked with the EXIT ONLY sign. So, I backed up and found a tiny service road to come towards that exit sign from the other side - and someone had actually moved the sign, so it wasn't completely blocking the road anymore. I imagine it was from the people trying to get out because the way that the sign had been placed blocked the road from going in or out! I was worried as we got a message from friends we were supposed to meet there saying that they had given up and that the parking lot was a complete disaster area. They said they were not able to find anything even remotely close to the restaurant. My friend got the text as we found the front of the building and I have an ADA tag. I drove right up seeing the entire ADA parking was empty except one other car. Then we were commenting at least they have iron railing to walk up the stairs... but oh wait, there's a ramp! So easy... although I could have done without the different two older people literally stepping on my foot with zero acknowledgement at all. I have a partially disconnected Achilles on that side so thanks for that. At least they didn't step on my cane? The staff were all so lovely... so helpful with our questions and making certain we had everything. I am not a vegan and went for a burger. I'm a huge fan of the dungeon burger... mushrooms & Swiss... and I love a place that asks me how I want my burger cooked - medium please! That grilled flavor is great. And a nice pile of tots. I'm even OK with a steady flow of RC cola. We were pretty surprised at how mellow everything was considering they'd had a major concert. There were a pair of ladies at the bar. I wandered to use the restroom as one was telling the other that she should clearly light that dude on fire as I was passing. Coming out and the tables had turned to talking about the other gals unfortunate dating life. I hope they both dump those dudes - ladies, you are both lovely, ditch the jerks!

SERVICE WAS AWFUL! We went with a small work group on a Wednesday for lunch. The service was…read moreabsolutely terrible. It seemed like our server had little to no training or customer service skills. We came in with a small company lunch group of five, and it took over an hour to receive our food. In total, we were there for 2 1/2 hours before we could finally leave. The food was just okay, but the service completely overshadowed it. The location itself is really cool, but unfortunately, the staff and overall experience were not. The managers walked around as if nothing was wrong, even though multiple tables--including ours--were visibly frustrated. We kept looking around in disbelief at how poor the service was and couldn't understand why no one stepped in to help. Here are just a few of the issues we experienced: #1 We weren't given enough silverware. #2 We didn't receive plates for our appetizers. #3 We were charged for a basket of tater tots that we were told would be "on the house" because of the long wait. #4 Our sweet potato fries were forgotten, but we were still charged for them. At that point, we just wanted to leave. #5 Our server disappeared for 20 minutes at a time and rarely checked on us. #6 Several other customers around us also appeared frustrated with the service. #7 Our waters and Sprites were mixed up. #8 Our food orders were delivered to the wrong people. I've always enjoyed McMenamins, but this location was a huge disappointment. I hope management takes a serious look at the level of training, supervision, and customer service at this location because it simply wasn't acceptable.

*Closed business notice* Yeeeeah... BDSM is abbreviated…read morelike that on purpose and isn't accidental or coincidental at all. To be honest I tried two attempts here to get their beer and both times were fails. The address associated with their Yelp entry here seems to be at the owner's house. And they indeed did have a small taproom here going off of the Yelp pictures. People really liked the beers from the other reviews and the concept definitely caught our attention (ahem) but when we got there and within operating hours of the taproom everything was closed up tighter than a drum. We wanted to make another attempt to try their beer at a later time and when we did it looked like they moved to downtown Hillsboro. We'll we made it there, Steve and I and went in the door only to be told they were closed BUT the owner didn't turn us away and so we had a can of cider. They were doing a remodel and we figured we would make yet another attempt in a few months to try their beer since none was available during the particular time the remodel was taking place and when we arrived. I made a third attempt only to find out the old BDSM sign was taken down and smoked meats and cold beer were sold at the location we were at months before. All of these changes must have been recent and swift because the third attempt was a week ago and Google had the business in the search as still being open and they had an active Facebook page. The Facebook page and has since vanished in a week's time and the Google result says they are permanently closed. They still have their own website up but I wouldn't imagine that is very useful at this point and time. Too bad. A few missed opportunities here without a full on beer experience with what they brewed.

The outside seating appears closed in the winter and the curb appeal needs a helping hand. A pint is $9 with a half pint costing $5.00. The place across the road that's changed its branding from diversity to something more boot-scoot friendly while trading in local bands for line dancing and country cosplay? Yep, that's a hick bar and it's trying really hard to give you a country-fried boutique next door and a drunk-country playlist to convince you of its bona fides. A dive bar, especially a great one, doesn't have to make much of an effort to convince you of its merits. My Place looks absolutely frightening from the outside, to the point that if it wasn't located it Forest Grove, I'd have it pegged as a mob joint. There are two small, high windows, one sign (that isn't for the lottery), and a solid wooden door that looks as if it exists to repel battering rams. And inside? It looks like a place that was designed to ride out Prohibition. Your decor's mostly the bar, woodwork, and vintage coolers, along with some pool tables and lottery machines. It's lit largely by Christmas lights and distributor-supplied neon. It's an old card room turned lottery bar. But amid the cheap pours of Pabst and Widmer and cans of Hamm's and Keystone is a bar menu that puts a town full of far newer competitors to shame. We're what, two breweries in at the other place across the street and nobody on this block has managed a burger better than My Place? This grill and this recipe must be guarded with as many lives as we can throw at them, because this thing rivals OG Stanich's. Meanwhile, between the steak special, the reuben, and the fact that you can get a club sandwich here at just about any hour--and get everything at insanely reasonable cost--I don't know why I keep putting myself though the aggravation of crossing the street to its neighbors. Let the folks in those new tract homes up the way eyeball this place in fear. Let that NO MINORS sign keep diverting their kids to the brewery and food cart of the moment. Every time I walk in here, I feel like I've found Forest Grove's best secret--and if it means sitting with a bunch of over 40s and not particularly caring what the area's parents think about school politics or NASCAR, that's fine with me.
