The wait staff was so kind, watching how they worked, everything flowed nicely and the menu was explained to us well with every dish in mind. We did get our salad sent out to us after the entre and the waitress thought it was very European of us to have it after the beef cheek. The new space is big, and I love the lights and the wallpaper. Lots of duck decor. I know they are getting a lot of protestors because of the foie gras offerings on the menu but you can go and refrain from ordering those things. We couldn't make it to Le Pigeon with young kids, but a friend recommended Canard, which is their more casual sister restaurant with a few locations. Not all of them serve lunch, but this one does, and it was on our way out of Portland to Willamette. There's street parking, but they also have some reserved parking spots in a small lot. It's about half full on a Friday at lunch. As they're called Canard, there are multiple duck related options on the menu. - Steak tartare: with fried crisps and an interesting bone mayo in the center. It comes with pho accompaniments like lime, spouts, mint, cilantro - Market green salad: with fried quinoa, a pretty big portion - Garlic fries - Steam burgers: 6 for $30: like White Castle meets a McDonald's cheeseburger - Mac n cheese: we got the kids' version, which doesn't have fried onions - Steamed broccoli: the cleanest thing our kids have eaten all week Service was friendly, and food came out pretty quickly. My siblings and I took our father to this establishment for his birthday. It was located in the heart of downtown Beaverton. Inside was a dimly lit quaint space when we entered. Staff was very welcoming and well versed with the flavor profiles of the menu items. They also recommended the appropriate number of dishes to order based on the number of people at our table. We started with the oysters on the half shell. They were perfectly sized and succulent with a hint of sweetness. The steak tartare in itself was very rich and melted in your mouth. I would have preferred to have only that alone. The rest of the dish was inspired to have a fusion leaning toward Vietnamese pho. But all those extra fixings took away from the tartare. The Ouefs En Mayonnaise had bacon, smoked roe, and maple stuffed in soft boiled eggs. It would have been a great execution, but the sweetness of the maple overpowered the underlying depth of the dish. The broccoli cobb salad with the fried chicken was really dense. There was a ton of sunflower seeds and dressing. The serving size of the chicken was generous but the amount they gave us weighed down the dish even more. The foie gras dumplings with the leek broth and shallot jam had a lot of potential as well. The pasta was a little too al dente. The stuffing was overly heavy and sweet, even for foie gras. The braised lamb shoulder with the saffron whipped potatoes and ratatouille was very tender and done perfectly. There was just something about that sides in it that were underwhelming. The ricotta gnocchi were well seared on the outside and bouncy on the inside. The corn veloute, fried sage, and parmesan were very complimentary. For dessert, we got the mango sticky rice sundae. The mango dole whip was exotic and tangy. The pandan rice pudding rounded that out. Last but not least we also ordered the earl gray panna cotta with poached rhubarb and oat streusel. This dessert in particular was the shining star. The panna cotta was completely silky with bright notes of bergamot. The rhubarb added just a hint of tang. All around it was just really tasty and we were fighting over who got the next bite. Overall, this was a unique French experience. It is rather expensive and it is expected that you order quite a few dishes, since they are smaller in size, if you want to be full. Some of the food combinations were not symbiotic. Several of them leaned more heavily toward being sweet rather than savory. I would consider maybe coming back for a happy hour but not sure I would return for a regular course meal. read more

We started with the burrata with cheesy naan, foie gras dumplings, Japanese chicken tenders, and their famous steam burger. The steam burger is an absolute must-try--light and easily the highlight of the meal. For the mains, we had the beef cheek bourguignon and steak frites, both of which were cooked beautifully and packed with flavor. The server said that they have a new cook on the fries and she would notify him. (I hope this isn't too presumptuous but if that person is a smoker, they're not gonna be able to taste the salt the same way that we do. Just a note for whoever reads this). My husband selected this newer location for our early Valentine's Day dinner. They were noted for their James Beard award winning chef. So here we go! The Beaverton location Is housed in an old theater so looks deceiving from the outside. Don't let that stop you! This quaint bar is really a lovely restaurant that serves taste bud bursting food that should not be missed! We started with the oysters in the half shell and a pomegranate soda drink that the server recommended... plus a very delicious pear and goat cheese salad. I had the braised rabbit that touted mashed potatoes with some sort of tomato sauce I cannot describe except to say I didn't know rabbit tasted so good. Wow--days later and my taste buds are still dancing. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a meal this memorable. I have no idea what they did to the roasted broccoli, but it was hands down the best I've ever had. I guarantee that if you're trying to get a child to eat broccoli, this is the dish that will do it--there's no way they'd turn it down. And then there was the shining star: the gnocchi. Not to be repetitive, but it was truly the best gnocchi I've ever had in my life. To top off an already amazing meal, we ordered the Black Forest Sundae--literally the cherry on top. My server Zaida was friendly and helpful. I ordered two of their Sliders and the omelet. Omg- Fantastic! The Sliders are like a high end White Castle- so good and cheesy! My husband and I went to Canard on Tuesday for our anniversary. The restaurant is really nice and lively but very hard to find parking. Staff were warm and friendly. We ordered the steak tartare, duck frites, crispy broccolini, and glazed pork rib. We didn't order the Oeufs but it was brought out as a gift. There was some confusion tho because lack of communication, we sent the server back since we didn't order it but later we were told it was a gift and she dropped it back off, which was sweet but I don't particularly like deviled eggs. The best dish was the crispy broccolini! It was delicious. The steak tartare was ok. The duck frites were a bit salty and kinda chewy. The glazed pork rib wasn't too bad but it felt kinda dry. The Beaverton location of Canard is very attractive, and the food is delicious, but there wasn't enough of it. I left still hungry and joked that I should have eaten a snack before leaving for the restaurant, not a funny joke given the high price of eating out. Too few scallops in my entree, too few shrimp in my appetizer, and had it been for the thoughtful birthday gift of a dish of soft serve, I'd have needed to buy a snack before our nearby concert started. This local restaurant right in downtown Beaverton offers some amazing dishes with a french accent. The restaurant is open in the morning to early afternoon for breakfast or brunch, and then reopens in the evening with a separate dinner menu offering different items. The menu is focused around duck based entrees, however, they have many other dishes to offer as well including steak and breakfast foods. I went for brunch with some friends and we ordered the garlic naan, duck stack, and steamed burgers. All the food was great but the pancakes with duck gravy was absolutely delectable and I would definitely recommend. The ambiance was fairly casual and they offer a full bar should you be interested in a drink. The server was very friendly and was quick to answer any questions we had regarding the menu. We have been to Canard in Portland once and knew immediately that we had to try the Beaverton location since it's much closer to home. We made reservations and were seated promptly when we arrived, definitely recommend reservations. The space is gorgeous! It has a beautiful bar, a large seating area, and even an upstairs with a little balcony. It was also tastefully decorated for the holiday. Our server was fantastic! She was super knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. We started with the Honey Roasted Apple Caesar, which wasn't really a caesar. I think I would have liked it better if I wasn't expected it to be a caesar. The dressing was kind of mustardy and the only thing remotely like a caesar was the romaine lettuce. I probably wouldn't order it again. We also had the oysters, which everyone loved. And we got the Hawaiian Rolls, which looked incredible, but they were VERY salty. I suspect there was maybe too much of the Shoyu Glaze. I see what they were going for, but I would pass on these. While the appetizers felt like a bit of a letdown, the mains were spectacular. My daughter and I got the Steak Frites which were a 10! The steak was cooked perfectly and the beurre rouge sauce had my daughter eating mushrooms, which she normally does not! The fries were also perfection. My friend got the Braised Rabbit which was recommended by the server and was so good! My husband had the Glazed Pork Short Rib, which was fall on a plate, so succulent and tender. We knew we wanted dessert so we went with the Black Forest Sundae and the Honey Lime Panna Cotta. The sundae was good, I did wish there was a chocolate sauce instead of chocolate chips. The panna cotta was weird, it had too many competing flavors, I think it would have worked better with just a vanilla panna cotta. The passionfruit caramel was also bitter, like maybe it was cooked a minute or two too long. Overall, I would absolutely come back for the mains and maybe give dessert another try. Despite some confusion about whether we were getting a Pre Fix dinner or from their standard menu, we loved what we got from their main menu. I didn't realize when I booked the reservation that it was for the main dining area and not for their once a month Pre Fix dinner upstairs with the chef. I'm not a fan of blue cheese but it was very mild and I enjoyed it. We also ordered the steak frites and short rib. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the fries had a nice crispy touch. The short rib was tender and paired perfectly with the sides. Definitely order the crispy broccolini! Never had veggies done like that and it is definitely something I'll be getting every visit. Food was center stage at this converted theater. The complexity of the poached pears with goat cheese was amazing. Subtle flavors added to the crunch of the lightly poached pears. The oysters were so delicious I forgot about the mignonette sauce and ate them a squirt of lemon. It was perfect. They were a favorite for our table. We also enjoyed the broccolini with pecans. The space is nice: casual and elegant, and while I'm still sad over the demise of Beaverton Bakery, this is a worthy successor. I don't eat mammals, and while the men isn't huge, I still had plenty of great choices. None of us had room for dessert, which is a shame. Been hearing about Chef Gabriel Rucker and wanting to try for a long long time but finally they helped me out and opened new spot near me in Beaverton!!! The crostinis with the chicken liver mousse were so hard they sliced my gums open. The duck frite was an amazing redemption, with a champignon sauce that was so salty and fries that were stone cold. I ordered the Steelhead and swapped the mussels side for sweet potatoes, and the result was absolutely outstanding. The service was exceptional: attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. I also tried a mocktail with an orange peel garnish (the name escapes me), but it was refreshingly delicious and perfectly balanced. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to elevate the dessert menu, which leaned heavily on soft‑serve ice cream creations. Given the caliber of the food and service, a more inspired dessert selection would make the experience flawless.
