Hummus and Pita
Sarah M.

Well made food with good flavors. Got the hummus, pita, Greek fries, and an order each of the lamb, sausage, and chicken souvlaki. The hummus was smooth and creamy, and pairs well with the fluffy pita. The Greek fries have lemon zest sprinkled on top which took me by surprise, but adds a refreshing brightness. The lamb souvlaki was my favorite of the different options, flavorful, juicy, and not dry at all. Open seating, you order at the counter and then seat yourself at any of the tables. Can be challenging to snag a table on a busy night, especially for larger groups

Vanilla soft serve with chocolate magic shell and pistachios

If I were to go back for anything it would be their soft serve. It was so good that we ordered one to share and ended up ordering one more. Definitely get the magic shell with pistachios! The protein is a bit over priced considering how small the skewers are. The lamb was my least favorite, and I love lamb. I really enjoyed the shrimp and sausage! I'm not a salad person but their salads were delicious and I'd definitely get them again! We got the wedge salad and the pear and arugula! The fries were also great. It's fast casual so you order at the counter first before you are seated.

The whole menu lol

Food was great, but a little pricey. You order at the counter, you pick a table, and they bring out the food as they come out.

Pork chop and fries

It is nice that they opened up in Downtown Beaverton in the old Afuri spot. The place is still spacious as before with very minimal changes. You order at the counter and then find a seat. If you want more food, they have a separate line to order at. The plates are on the smaller side, almost like tapas style, so it's good to be able to try many things. We ordered a good variety of food (can add up) to share. I really liked their hummus and tzatziki. The tzatziki was super refreshing and good well with almost anything. The pear and arugula salad was also addition. The sausage and chicken skewers were flavorful. The pork chop was a bit dry for me, but great when dipped with the tzatziki. The soft serve with the magic shell and pistachios were a great way to end the meal.

Visited Bluto's for the first time with the girls, and we were absolutely blown away! The vibe is super chill, perfect for a girls' night out. But let's talk about the food--*WOW*. The lamb? Unreal. It was tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. I'm still thinking about it days later. And the hummus? Hands down the best I've had in ages--creamy, flavorful, and with the perfect spice balance. We practically inhaled it. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were generous. Definitely going back soon to try more of their menu. If you're in Beaverton, don't miss out on this place. It's a gem! Highly recommended!

Ironically, I don't drink alcohol but what I love about the 649 is the variety of mocktails! The…read morevirgin love spell is my favorite drink and I get it every time. I've tried less of the food than the mocktails, but the Mac and cheese served fajita style on a hot plate was quite good. I also like the casual atmosphere and the willingness of the staff to go with the flow.

This I'd say, is a fantastic little hang out! Here's the 411 on The 649:…read more * Parking Situation * Although the location of The 649 is just "where the F" (eye-roller). Because it's somewhat hidden in the corner of a Safeway shopping plaza. Look for the Baskin Robbins or Wells Fargo ATM and your find it. Like other reviews, when busy, parking can be a bit horrendous. But in hindsight, I'm not gonna reduce a star just because of location. * Bar Food Menu & Dining * Their menu starts with shareable bites, like a pretzel, tacos, quesadilla, loaded nachos, and even a charcuterie plate. Slightly larger dishes would be their Cubano and Brisket Press sandwiches. They even have a few choices for soup and salads, and a couple of dessert items listed. Don't forget to check the chalkboard next to the bar for specialty dishes and drinks. As for dining-in, they've got sturdy wooden tables that can accommodate 4-8 people. Bar stools by the windows, and a fairly large outside patio area. And with the times I've been here, I've never seen a dirty table. Very well maintained (two thumbs up). A few TV monitors showing the game, but its not like a noisy sportsbar. * Drinks & Services* You've got your choice of craft beers that rotate like a standard tap room. They also have tasty seasonal cocktails, but their normal everyday cocktails are just as good. And if you're gonna have a charcuterie board, then you've got to offer a wine list option right? Well they got that too! One last thing to mention, they've got some top-shelf bourbon and whiskey. The 649 is a bar that offers it all! Service has also been welcoming and top-notch. I recall only been served by Rich, Steven, and Crystal, but they always seem to craft up some lovely cocktails. Or deliver some clean tasting everyday type of bar food as well. * Last Call * Normally in my reviews, I'd list every item that I've tried, with price included. But The 649 is such a unique type of bar experience that I feel you should try for yourself; To me, their offerings are reasonably priced. Dining in is nothing fancy, but service is excellent. It's a great hangout for a business date, of even after a first date. I've got nothing but love for local support!

The place fills up nicely so that you feel like you have the privacy of being in a crowd without it feeling crowded. The food is beautiful and I really love the dishware they use here. Overall the service was satisfactory, nothing really to write home about either way. That being said I would have liked the food to be a bit more substantial for the prices. The pricing felt a bit high for what was served both in terms of substance and quantity. A final minor note is that I consider calling the Turmeric Fries "fries" a bit misleading considering that they are most definitely chips and that was more than a little disappointing when they came out.

I'll start with the good things about my experience here tonight. The ambiance is perfect for a…read moredate night or getting together with friends. Both the cocktails and food were ridiculously good. They far exceeded our expectations going into the meal. We had the grand biryani, the vegan samosas, and the Burmese chicken curry. Every food dish blew my socks off, especially the curry. I would recommend, however, that they add a chili symbol to the grand biryani because it was actually quite spicy. In fact, the people next to us had to send it back because it was far too spicy, but not advertised as such. The amount of chicken in the grand biryani was spectacular and the portion was very large. Definitely worth the price tag on it. I also highly recommend the lychee lemon drop and the Burma blue cocktails. As another couple near us said, "everything was great except for the service". It's not that the people weren't friendly, it was just slow and very odd. It took 25 minutes for my wife and I to get our drinks. And had the couple next to us not reminded the server of the beer they ordered, they never would have received it. We never got our silverware and had to ask for that after receiving our food. Additionally, our neighbors ordered their entrees before us, yet we received our full order (the same exact order) before they did. We had 4 different servers over the course of the meal and I truly had no idea who was supposed to be our primary waiter and it seemed like none of them knew what was going on at the tables. The guy who took our orders at the beginning of the meal came by 15 minutes after we'd finished eating and our table had been cleared to ask if we ever received our meals (75 minutes after we'd been seated). This was on Valentine's Day so on less busy nights maybe things would be better. Altogether, my biggest recommendations for management would be to have 1 server take care of their own tables to ensure consistency/flow, and ensure that the menu more accurately reflects what is provided (add appropriate spice symbols).
