We also ordered fries and bread w hummus. We shared everything with our 4 year old. I have a shellfish allergy and lean vegan and appreciate how clear the menu was. I also felt completely safe and that I could trust the owner that the ingredients were safe for my allergy. Years ago a friend and I use to visit UR Mediterranean Restaurant frequently because the food was good and prices were low. Then the owner sold the place and things changed in a negative way. Food just wasn't as good. Since several years have passed and I've noticed good reviews, I decided its time to try them again. I placed an order thru GH. Unfortunately the order was delayed twice. When the food finally arrived we were famished. I order 2 mezza plates, rice pilaf and tabbouli. Im vegetarian so these were the best items for me to order. But if you eat meat they offer numerous chicken, lamb and beef items. The grape leaves were great. The falafel were very crunchy but good. I didnt care for the hummus. The plate also came with tzatziki and bread. I would have preferred baba ghanouj instead of tzatziki. There was a soggy salad under the falafel and grape leaves. The rice pilaf and tabhouli were good. Overall the food was ok but not as good as some other places I frequent. read more

Late in the week, tired from work, brain-fried and looking for a place to grab dinner for the family is always the challenge especially after 5pm. I wanted to try something different and unique. We haven't had any Mediterranean food worth noting so I did a search and I came across UR. Despite the mixed-reviews, I wanted to try-out this place and give my honest review and so it begins. When my daughter and I arrived in downtown Beaverton, it was our first time in that particular area and looking for parking was a little bit challenging for her. We ended-up parking about 3 blocks away from the restaurant. Google map told us it would take about a 4 min. walk but I said whatever; it would be great exercise. Parts of the downtown were closed-off for outdoor dining and a kids play area was set-up in the street. They even had huge lawn-chair props- makes for great photos but unfortunately I didn't take any snaps. Vibes were great and the weather perfect. As what some folks mentioned here, I did notice the young guy running the restaurant didn't seem pleasant, had a bland demeanor and looked quite bored, but nonetheless I wasn't going to let that first impression dictate the rest of the experience. We went ahead and placed 5 orders (Chicken Kabob, Lamb and Beef Kabob, Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Shish Kabobs and Hummus Plate). The guy then told us it was going to be a 25 min. wait so I said no problem. When we got home, my first impression reaching into the bag was "heft"- the food in the containers were heavy. Just look at the photos I took of our meals. For the amount of money I paid it was enough food to feed 2. I was only able to get through halfway and saved the remaining for my lunch the next day. - The rice was tasty, fluffy and had great texture. - Chicken, beef, lamb were all flavorful, not dry, and had great taste - The hummus was ok and the pita bread was already cold when we got home The food was prepared perfectly which greatly surprised me in spite of the first impression at the counter. Don't let that fool you! This guy created a masterpiece for us! I couldn't identify what sort of spice was sprinkled on top but mixing that including the sauce into your rice with your proteins was a tasteful delight! I must say this is the best Mediterranean food I've had in this area; this place has made my top 5 and definitely I will be coming back again for more. read more

FIRE! You can tell everything was very authentic and homemade. At first, I was surprised that a side of hummus and a side of tzatziki were $5 each, but you get a considerable portion. Location: I love this area of Beaverton! There are cute shops and restaurants, and everyone is out and about. They also block a street with outdoor seating and a children's play area. Chicken shawarma sandwich and lamb sandwich ($15 dollars each and huge) were delicious and the falafel plate ($10 dollars, okay size) were the best falafels I've eaten anywhere. In the historic downtown Beaverton neighborhood, just around the corner from the diverse hub of eateries on SW 1st St, is an unpretentious hole in the wall for Mediterranean food. I've walked past this place a handful of times and finally decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did. It's not really a sit down restaurant, maybe a few tables, but you can always sit outside where they have plenty of outdoor seating located on SW 1st. Anyways, we ordered take out and it ended up being more than enough to share with my family. We ordered Baba ganouj, chicken schwarma over rice, falafels, dolmas, and a gyro. I have to admit, I've been wanting to try this place out for years because it reviews so highly. However, I have a 'favorite' place that we always go to...but since we moved across town, it is no longer accessible. I even tried another place before UR but it was meh. So I decided that UR would be a better option than meh, so when it came time to feed that craving for Mediterranean food then it was the only logical option. I understand there as an ownership change in recent years since I first began tracking this business. However, with enough time passing and still stellar reviews, I figured it wouldn't play into it. Maybe I went on the wrong date of the week...maybe it was a lull...maybe??? I don't know but my experience was far from being a 3-star experience...much less a 5 star. There were multiple issues but i'm just going to stick with dry pita and dry meat. Pricing and Quantity take back burners when the food itself just isn't good. We LOVED the hummus...but with pita that had to be 3 days old...you can only rave about the hummus so much. We took the hummus and left the pita...stopped at Safeway and bought a fresh pack off the rack and salvaged the experience. If not for the hummus, and the chance that slow business drives them to use multiple day-old pita, then this would have been a single star. I'm more likely to drive the extra miles to our old haunt next time. Though...if I ever need really good hummus to go with my Safeway Pita...I'll be back. read more

Would highly recommend this little hole in the wall place to anyone looking to have some great food. The portions are generous and the flavor is on point! We had their chicken shawarma, lamb shank, and kabobs. All were delicious and seasoned perfectly. The lamb shank over rice was a favorite of our group and we've gone back for that dish a few times now. They serve their food in to-go containers whether you're eating there or not, which was good for us because we did have some leftovers that we enjoyed the next day. Picked up Mezza platter, extra Dolma's and a Gyro. Gyro was fine. The falafel were bitter- I suspect old oil. Salad was very wilted. The Dolma's had an acidic taste - i suspect they were old. I tipped 20% on a Togo order and they rounded up an additional $1.40ish on top of that. I will communicate this fraud to them. I would avoid this place. There are better options nearby. read more
