I've been here at least four times for lunch, and I'd have to state that this to me, is your average 3-star gyro joint at best. I'm giving a fourth star because the guy at the counter is always welcoming. The place is located within a busy Fred Meyer shopping area. So parking can be a bit busy, especially during lunch hours. There's Pho Tango restaurant, a nail salon, and a UPS store all sharing the lot. Inside dining is simple. Mostly tables for two or four. Clean table tops with the times I've dined-in. So no issues with service or dining. Regarding the gyros, they've got lots to choose from on the menu (and up on the menu board). I've tried their Lamb Gyro and Chicken Gyro for $11.99, as well as their Combo Gyro with chicken and beef for $13.99. I do love the fact that the pita bread is nice and warm, and the toppings were flavorful. But I feel the gyro slices are a bit small, not your typical long juicy strips. More like slivered shawarma cuts. I've also tried the Double Meat over Rice ($16.99) which consists of the chicken and lamb cuts, hummus, tzatziki, a little bit of lettuce, tomatoes, all on top of rice, with that warm pita bread included. Honestly, I thought this plate would blow me away, but it didn't. I mean their sauces were good, but I feel it needed a spicy kick to it.. Overall, Monte Gyro is a great little spot for lunch. Plenty of items to choose from on the menu and at reasonable prices. Dining is typical and service is exceptional. I'll likely be back in support of this local mom'n'pop shop. read more

Environment: Local business and this spot was once subway. Staff: super friendly and kind. They were very polite, especially their son who was very kind and sweet. I bet he was no older than 14 or so. The owner was also very nice. Food: I ordered a lamb wrap (arabi). It was packed full of lamb and flavors. It was a tad spicy but it was overall very nice. It was very hearty so I actually just ate half and saved the rest for another day. The fries were superb. The texture of the fries were super soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. I noticed this new spot the last time I was in the area and decided to give it a try. I did take out and got their chicken shawarma wrap, falafel, and hummus.. and glad I did! The shawarma wrap is quite big and filled with flavorful chicken. The wrap itself also tastes homemade and fresh. For me, it's enough for two meals so definitely a deal. Personally, I had hoped to see more veggies in there but I can't say it wasn't filling. I like their unique tzatziki sauce and hot sauce that came with the wrap, it compliments nicely. What a great option for Mediterranean! Big selection of dishes, we chose to do the lamb arabi, falafel and side of hummus. The arabi was filling with tasty lamb slices wrapped with veggies and feta. The fries had some seasoned salt and topped with sauce, a nice accompaniment. The hummus had good flavor and came with a side of bread. The falafel was fresh, springy and tasty. Just tried their chicken arabi and it was excellent. If you get their arabi I highly recommend you eat it there so the shell is still nice and crispy. Everything was fresh and tasted so good. The owner said his favorite is the beef one so that is on my list for next time. Because it's fresh expect to wait 10-15 minutes for the food but again well worth it. I would NOT buy food here again. I wanted to pay with Discover card, but saw no signage regarding credit cards. I asked the cashier if it was accepted, and he just said "yes". My food was $13.99, but I was charged $14.41. I asked why, and the cashier pointed to this text on the receipt - "To cover the cost of accepting credit cards, we collected a 3% credit card surcharge." Such surcharges are legal in Oregon, but very unusual at restaurants. Ethical merchants will DISCLOSE such surcharges to customers (via signage, and when answering direct questions about whether or not credit cards are accepted) BEFORE the transaction. Regarding my food... "Lamb over Salad". The meat was very tasty, and there was a lot of meat. There wasn't very much salad, and a lot of the lettuce was shredded, which made it harder for me to eat. My preference would have been for a bit less meat & a bit more salad (with bigger pieces of lettuce and tomato). Also, the salad had pickles and green olives, neither of which seem common in the Greek salads I've had. I would preferred a bit more feta cheese instead. read more

The lamb Gyro was 4/5 stars (it was a good sized portion and decent taste, but it wasn't spicy). The only reason for taking a star away is the lamb was lacking a bit of flavor (compared to some of the places I've had a lamb Gyro before). Now the fries were a solid 2/5. Hardly any sauce or feta cheese. Plus the fries themselves were not that good and priced way to high for what they were. I couldn't finish them and I love me some fries. To the owner / manager, you make a decent Gyro. Just step up your fry game and I think you will get 4-5 stars all day long!!
