I've been here twice. The first time, they forgot an item from my order. The second time, I had to wait 1 entire hour for my food from the pick-up time. There was only 1 staff in the restaurant and it was a busy weekend evening. This staffer was not only left alone, but it was his first week, so he was slow. Walk-in customers waited 5 minutes for their food, while I (along with several others who ordered ahead) waited 60, which is extremely unfair. My order was missing an item so I had to wait even longer for the staffer to help me. I submitted feedback of my experience through their website and didn't receive a response. Brisket sandwiches - 11:30am the meat tasted "off, spoiled or something. It didn't even taste like brisket" and it was dry. My wife and I each took two small bits and discarded the rest. We frequently eat at Dickey's and were really surprised. We chose not to eat it. The coleslaw and okra was delicious. I did tell the restaurant employees and they said "sorry." That's it. Just got back from Dickey's Barbecue Pit at Murrayhill. I used to go here all the time, and the food is usually pretty good. However, the prices have gone up substantially, and I had some concerns about sanitary practices on a previous visit, so it's been a couple of years since I've been there. But I had a coupon, so I thought I would try them again. On today's visit, I ordered 1/2 pound of Chicken ($12.49), 1/2 pound of Pulled Pork ($10.49), 1/2 pound of Jalapeño Kielbasa ($11.49), and a "large" (less than a pint) Mac and Cheese ($7.99). When I got home, the portions seemed pretty small, and I wondered if I had gotten a half pound of each of the meats. Fortunately, I do a lot of mailing and have a postal scale. So, I weighed each of the meats, and they were all well short of a 1/2 lb. I assume most people know that a 1/2 pound is 8 ounces, but at least 2 of the 3 young Dickey's employees were not aware of that fact, so I thought it might need mentioning here. (More on that later). The chicken was 5.7 ounces, the sausage was 6.4 ounces, and the pork was 5.9 ounces. So I called the store. I explained the situation. I mentioned, "You do know a 1/2 pound is 8 ounces, right?" Dustin, the guy who answered the phone, said, "No, it's not. It's 6 ounces." I said, "No - a pound is 16 ounces, a 1/2 pound is 8 ounces." Now, keep in mind that Dustin wasn't the one who sliced the meat. It was a young lady with semi-bleached hair (I didn't get her name.) So I'm assuming that she also thinks a 1/2 pound is six ounces. I'm hoping this was an honest mistake, but I'm not sure it was. It seems odd that at least two of the three employees think a 1/2 pound is 6 ounces. I also tried to reach out to the owners to talk to them before leaving a negative review, but it appears that they now live out of state. The local business has let its business license lapse, and several other Dickey's franchisees have filed for bankruptcy, citing challenges with the franchise model. Combined with my sanitary concerns that I won't get into here (it was about three years ago), I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

So I ordered delivery in the evening and the food did come cold which wasn't the best start but the kielbasa sausage saved the day it was delicious especially with the barbecue sauce, which had a great consistency wasn't too watery. I also had some fries that was also great same for the toast. The baked potato casserole was kinda salty but everything else made up for it. read more

The brisket was bark dry, The ribs were also dry beyond editability, they were nearly impossible to chew, the meat even splintered like wood. The quality has gone down significantly. I can no longer recommend this barbecue pit. I purchased 2 plates of inedible food, and it was very cold when we picked it up. We had to toss the meat. read more

Turning lemons into lemonade. We ordered food for our company lunch from the Tigard OR location. Bought a box from the catering menu that says feeds 10. We received enough meat to serve 4, maybe. Since I had asked 3 times if I should increase the meat order, and was told there would be plenty, I was very disappointed in the serving size. I called catering and complained. Within an hour Shannon the store manager called to find out what happened. When I explained, she mentioned there is new ownership, management and employees. She was very nice and apologetic. Placed our order in app for delivery but somehow it changed to pickup. We called and were offered a dessert for the inconvenience and drove to get the order. They were kind and prepared the fries fresh and hot when we arrived. We like the Westerner sandwich which offers 2 types of meats on a French-type roll. Brisket is killer good as is the pulled pork. We got the combo this time - it was BOGO combo free! Love the mac and cheese and the fries were crispy and yummy. Comes with drink in their big yellow cup. Got it to go and there was plenty of meat on the sandwiches - enough for me to make 2 open face sandwiches out of mine! Get some pickles and onions on the side (so it doesn't get soggy) - they add that extra flair to bbq! Good experience after-all!! read more

I love barbecue but something about Dickey's was strange so I never went but I finally decided to try it and it wasn't as bad as I thought. However, it's very overpriced. I bought a 2 plate meal, brisket and pulled pork with barbecue beans and Mac and cheese. Opening the container, the meat portions were insanely small. There was even space to put more but they just didn't. I don't get it. The sides were great though. As a place, the vibe was concerning. Very quiet, no music, and none of the employees seemed to like each other. As a result, it was very awkward. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the food was ready when it was supposed to be and the employee greeted me pleasantly when I walked in. I was surprised when I walked in that there was no smoky aroma in the air. And the food... I ordered 2 lbs of pulled pork and 1/2 lb of brisket. The brisket was practically flavorless. No pink smoke ring, no smoky flavor. And the pulled pork -- my first bite had *bone shards* in it. Also not the least bit smoky. I am super disappointed in this, and I'm hoping that there are no more bone shards to be found by the rest of my family when I serve it. This is a hard review. The food is blah however the service is good. The staff is attentive, very helpful and was there to answer questions if asked. When we walked in we were politely greeted and had a good conversation with the guy making the sandwiches. Unfortunately, that's where the good stops. The bread on the sandwich is thick and dry. The beat had no flavor at all. I never encountered barbecue that could not have the smoke flavor. The green beans had some spices and were cooked nicely. The red beans were cooked soft however the flavor was in the juices, which means the beans were not slow cooked. Sorry, I will not be back. read more

Someone, who sounded like the manager, told the staff that the menu signs were coming down tomorrow because prices were going to change. Increasing is my guess. Service bad, too. Criminally small portions. I ordered it delivery and got taken for a ride. The minuscule qty of food in the "3 meat combo" is worthy of ridicule. Dickey should be ashamed of this. I can LITERALLY finish all the meat in 3 bites! The staff told me they weigh it on a scale to serve 3OZ of meat per each of the three meats. It looks like a kids meal. My toddler could no doubt finish all of this and ask, where's the rest? I am an honest reviewer and feel bad to provide this feedback but feel it is important for others to know what they can potentially expect. This was our first time having dickies, we usually get Busters but we are outside of the delivery area. I'm so incredibly disappointed. Below are the details. - We ordered for 4 people and spent $97 - All of the food came cold, we had to heat everything in the microwave - My son ordered a spicy brisket sandwich and received a bun full of dried out meat, no sauce - My husband ordered a sliced brisket sandwich with slaw... came with crumbs of brisket and a soggy bun - The pork ribs were inedible, you couldn't even swallow it from how burnt and dried out they were - The attached picture is how much brisket we received with one of the dinners - it was also inedible because of how dry it was Almost $100 later we threw away most of the food because you couldn't even swallow it and are ending the evening still hungry. Super bummed. My husband described it best when he said it tastes like yesterday's leftover food reheated a few times. I hope others have better experiences. read more

Had their 2 meat plate the brisket was slimey greasy mush and the sausage wasnt from this planet. No soft serve ice cream the broken machine excuse. Been eating at Dickies since 1973 that a first. Amazing BBQ. Just about everything here is tasty as heck. Yum yum. Three sauces to choose from but the hot is the best. I recommend the pulled pork. And the Mac and cheese. And the waffle fries! Also, they have free ice cream. Like, actually, actually free. They just give it away. You can just have it! Pulled pork plate: my two sides were BBQ beans and fried okra. Okra was absolutely FANTASTIC! Best I've had outside the South. Beans were fine but nothing noteworthy. Sandwich was good! Filling and tasty. Sauces Original - definitely the best. Classic BBQ. Sweet - just. No. Tastes like maple syrup? Whyyyy Spicy - big pepper seeds made it look ominous but it wasn't too bad. A sweeter spicy. It was just OK. Again, stick with the original. You get 32 oz drink in the plate as well. Staff was friendly and quick! 3.5 stars. After realizing there is a lack of local barbecue joints around Beaverton, we decided to go with the tried-and-true Dickey's. And they did not disappoint. The dining room is still closed, so we did a carry out order. It was done on time and was placed on a table right inside the door-labeled with my name, so it was easy to find. The food was hot and fresh-and fantastic. We got a wide array of meats and sides and the barbecue beans were seriously the best beans I've ever had. Legit tasty! Only complaint was that they did not provide any forks or napkins for a carryout order. No worries, we were able to scramble some together. But it might be a good idea to include those. read more

This review isn't about the food, it's about the service. When you go to a Dickeys, the food you're going to be served is, for the most part, predictable. You know what the food is going to look like/taste like/smell like etc. however, what you don't expect is impeccable service. This location is absolutely amazing. I came in on a Saturday after a long day of moving, in my absent mindedness, I forgot my wallet on the counter and went on with my day. Upon realizing I was missing my wallet, I panicked and retraced my steps, which brought me to calling Dickeys. They told me that they checked my ID, found that I lived in the apartments across the way and put my wallet in a paper bag and hid it at my door. I get home and find it cautiously hidden with a free cookie and Brookie. Who does this!? Honestly!? I was so stressed out by the whole day and for them to have taken the extra step to put a smile on my face meant everything. read more

When this place opened up, I didn't realize this was a popular chain with 400+ locations all over the country. This is the first one in the Portland area and it's got some pretty good stuff going for it. My favorites include the sausage (both kinds), coleslaw, chicken breast, ham, baked beans, and ribs. The mashed potato casserole was just ok. It definitely needed to be heated up. It was too cold for the cheese to soften let alone melt. The biscuit was kinda meh...a bit too doughy but it's starting to grow on me. The pulled pork and brisket were big disappointments in the flavor department. In terms of texture, they're excellent, but you really need to slather on the sauce to cover up the dry and unseasoned meat. The dinner area is small and can get very crowded quickly during the lunch rush. The floor also has this weird greasy-slippery feel to it. Not sure what's up with that... watch your step? The big plus are the people working there. Always friendly and pleasant and eager to offer helpful suggestions if you're stuck on what to order.
