Kalua pig with cabbage and Bbq chicken. Comes with Mac salad

Very tasty. It's one of my favorite places. Their Lau Lau is the best though. I highly recommend.

Mochiko chicken (small)

Every foodie should have a Hawaiian spot in their list of places to eat and Hawaiian Sun BBQ is the spot for me. Tucked into a small strip mall, is this gem of a place. Been coming here for years and this place have never disappointed. Mind you it is sort of a hole-in-the-wall kind of joint and not one of the overhyped fancy foo foo places. One to the best part, the food! 1) Mochiko chicken - this is a staple and I always get this. Crispy, juice, sweet and a little spicy. What more can you ask. 2) Ox tail noodle soup - so good and the ox tails is fork tender. 3) locomoco/mochiko chicken combo - if you cannot decide between a couple options get a combo and get a bit of both! Who does not like a good ol locomoco? Flavored beef , overeasy egg , rice , gravy 4) Kailua Pork - get it with the cabbage. So good, savory and tender. Definitely a classic. Staff is great and they have a good selection of Hawaiian Sun to wash down the food with. If you are in the Everett area, come on by and get a taste of the Aloha.

I've never had a bad meal here. The food is always tasty, the service is friendly, and the prices are beyond fair. This is my go to spot for Hawaiian dishes.

Bbq plate lunch $11 insane value great flavor

The best Hawaiian spot in Washington still outdoing the old and new competition. My family and I hadn't been here in over 5 years but decided to order takeout recently. Where else can you get dinner for $11?! 3 bbq plates, 2 spam Musubi and one deluxe double cheeseburger ran our family around $40. That's insane value and quality in today's economy. We will continue to support and sing the praises of this establishment who have very minimally increased their prices to feed hungry families for years. Much mahalo!

Now' that is a Loco Moco! Complete with mac salad!

I've eaten here many times since my original 2010 review. In fact we just ate there last weekend and with my last review of Kona Kitchen's Loco Moco, I can honestly say I prefer Hawaiian Sun B.B.Q.'s Loco Moco. for the following reasons: 1. The price is right. 2. Made perfect. The protein to carb ratio is spot on. In other words, two patties, two eggs, smothered in gravy and the perfect amount of rice. 3. Side of Hawaiian Mac...part of the meal...not extra $. 4. Just tasted damn good! You get a chance to visit I would also recommend their Mochiko Chicken, their Short Ribs and the Meat Jun. I also love their musubi which comes in spam or chicken and wrapped in cellophane, just like the ones sold in any mini-mart on the islands. But honestly, everything I've ever had there has been good and the reason I keep coming back is food like that is what I would consider "comfort" food, and they do it right. The place ain't fancy, in fact it's one of those "Hole in the Wall" kinda places in a strip mall, but some of the best "local" food I've eaten in Hawaii and here in Washington are "Hole in the Wall" kinda places. So while I didn't hate Kona Kitchen , given the choice, I would choose Hawaiian Sun B.B.Q. It's good food made right and not hard on the wallet either.

Order a spam musubi, katsu musubi and egg rolls all very scrumptious 100/10 Will definitely be back to try some entrees.

#15 combo plate with 2 musubis for dine in and 2 to go!
Olivia C.

We shared a plate of the #15 plate with the three meats, rice and macaroni salad. We also got 4 musubi. All the food was quickly prepared and tasted great. For the most part the meats all had the same flavor of sweet sauce, but was perfect for what we wanted. Great and quick service.

The staff was so nice & friendly. I noticed they just had big orders and it's lunch time, so the wait time was quite long. However, I'm happy because the food are pretty good. The portion is big. The price is reasonable. I believe because all of these reasons, people are keep coming. Recommended!

The online menu asked what two sides you want with the Loco Moco. It showed a plate with two burgers, two eggs on a large bed of rice plus gravy...and what looks to be macaroni salad for 13.75. It asks what you want for your first side. It asks what you want for your 2nd side. I am guessing you get 2 sides with the rice/burgers. I was not real sure. So I asked for 2 sides of macaroni. It asks for mini or 2.50 for regular. I am thinking they will give you reg. side macaroni for 2.50 more. I go back and ask for mini. I do not need that much macaroni. Very disappointed to open the take out container to find zero rice and one small burger with an egg sitting in gravy and 2 sides of macaroni. They need to make this more clear. You only get 2 burgers and eggs if you add 2.50 (regular size). If you choose mini its not for the size of the sides but way less meat. I believe the photo and wording were very misleading. We also ordered Mochiko Chicken....Macaroni salad and broccoli, also a mini. I had it once before, somewhere else, and loved it. Ordered a Hawaiian Chicken BBQ plate, again mini and 2 sides. Did not like either of them. Hawaiian chicken BBQ was like a chicken thigh flattened with soy sauce maybe...no sweetness etc. They both kind of tasted the same. My 2 adult kids barely ate any of it. This was a real treat for us on a very sad day and it was not what we were expecting.....The macaroni salad was just ok...if I added salt. Said We could save 15% with ordering more so we ordered the won tons. They did not come with sweet and sour sauce but sweet chili sauce. I did not care for it at all with the fried won tons. I will not be ordering from again.

It was very helpful to see signage along State for the restaurant. I had just dropped off a family member to another function, so to make it worthwhile with the traffic congestion and cost of gas, I decided to have a late lunch here. Tiny spot with perimeter counter seating and just 4 four tops for onsite dining. Lots of people waiting for takeout, plus I saw signage about being understaffed. So I just placed and paid for my order via the touchscreen kiosk located to the left of the main counter. I ordered the laulau plate, which came with the usual two scoops rice, one scoop mac (macaroni salad) and a Safeway brand bottled water. Note for paid beverages, items are obtained from the refrigerated cases by the entrance. There's also complimentary iced lemon water available from the dispenser on the counter. There's some merch also available for sale. During my visit, I only saw powdered poi, jams, jellies, and some snacks. Ambiance was created via Alexa playing island tunes per one of the staff members request. Eventually I did get my order, as did others. Visually it looked promising. However, as I started eating, the first scoop of rice was a bit mushy. I ate one, the other I brought home. The mac salad was okay. The laulau was also okay, but it was a bit disappointing that it was just pork and no butterfish (sablefish) visible. The pork was very tender and succulent, just missing the fish component. With tax & tip, this was a little over $27. On the fence, whether this would merit a return visit.

I was excited because they had Meat Jun. the taste was pretty good but honestly the meat was literally paper thin. For the price I would expect more than what SEEMED to be about 2 oz of meat. The Mac salad was actually good. All in all I know it's had good reviews and maybe I was there on an off day.

I want to mention that the workers were all very kind and I had no problems with service. Even though we ordered at the counter, they checked in at our table multiple times. Unfortunately, the food fell flat. The Mochiko chicken was flavorless and served with a sweet chili sauce that tasted just like the kind I have from the grocery store. I thought Mochiko chicken was supposed to be flavorful on its own, even without a sauce. Also the portion was kinda small for the price. The Kahlua pork bowl had pork, but also what tasted like loco Moco gravy... which was a good gravy, but not what we really wanted on top of Kahlua pork. When we saw that it came with "gravy" for the bowl description on the menu, I was thinking it would taste something more like the pork itself. Also, it was heavy on the rice. Lastly, the guava cake had a nice soft airy texture... but not enough guava flavor. It is huge, but mostly air. We didn't order it to-go, but it came in a to-go container rather than on a plate. I felt it was overpriced at almost $10 per slice. Overall, my experience was just alright. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't need to return.
