Mochiko chicken (small)

Every foodie should have a Hawaiian spot in their list of places to eat and Hawaiian Sun BBQ is the spot for me. Tucked into a small strip mall, is this gem of a place. Been coming here for years and this place have never disappointed. Mind you it is sort of a hole-in-the-wall kind of joint and not one of the overhyped fancy foo foo places. One to the best part, the food! 1) Mochiko chicken - this is a staple and I always get this. Crispy, juice, sweet and a little spicy. What more can you ask. 2) Ox tail noodle soup - so good and the ox tails is fork tender. 3) locomoco/mochiko chicken combo - if you cannot decide between a couple options get a combo and get a bit of both! Who does not like a good ol locomoco? Flavored beef , overeasy egg , rice , gravy 4) Kailua Pork - get it with the cabbage. So good, savory and tender. Definitely a classic. Staff is great and they have a good selection of Hawaiian Sun to wash down the food with. If you are in the Everett area, come on by and get a taste of the Aloha.

Kalua pig with cabbage and Bbq chicken. Comes with Mac salad

Very tasty. It's one of my favorite places. Their Lau Lau is the best though. I highly recommend.

Bbq plate lunch $11 insane value great flavor

The best Hawaiian spot in Washington still outdoing the old and new competition. My family and I hadn't been here in over 5 years but decided to order takeout recently. Where else can you get dinner for $11?! 3 bbq plates, 2 spam Musubi and one deluxe double cheeseburger ran our family around $40. That's insane value and quality in today's economy. We will continue to support and sing the praises of this establishment who have very minimally increased their prices to feed hungry families for years. Much mahalo!

I've never had a bad meal here. The food is always tasty, the service is friendly, and the prices are beyond fair. This is my go to spot for Hawaiian dishes.

Now' that is a Loco Moco! Complete with mac salad!

I've eaten here many times since my original 2010 review. In fact we just ate there last weekend and with my last review of Kona Kitchen's Loco Moco, I can honestly say I prefer Hawaiian Sun B.B.Q.'s Loco Moco. for the following reasons: 1. The price is right. 2. Made perfect. The protein to carb ratio is spot on. In other words, two patties, two eggs, smothered in gravy and the perfect amount of rice. 3. Side of Hawaiian Mac...part of the meal...not extra $. 4. Just tasted damn good! You get a chance to visit I would also recommend their Mochiko Chicken, their Short Ribs and the Meat Jun. I also love their musubi which comes in spam or chicken and wrapped in cellophane, just like the ones sold in any mini-mart on the islands. But honestly, everything I've ever had there has been good and the reason I keep coming back is food like that is what I would consider "comfort" food, and they do it right. The place ain't fancy, in fact it's one of those "Hole in the Wall" kinda places in a strip mall, but some of the best "local" food I've eaten in Hawaii and here in Washington are "Hole in the Wall" kinda places. So while I didn't hate Kona Kitchen , given the choice, I would choose Hawaiian Sun B.B.Q. It's good food made right and not hard on the wallet either.

Order a spam musubi, katsu musubi and egg rolls all very scrumptious 100/10 Will definitely be back to try some entrees.

#15 combo plate with 2 musubis for dine in and 2 to go!
Olivia C.

We shared a plate of the #15 plate with the three meats, rice and macaroni salad. We also got 4 musubi. All the food was quickly prepared and tasted great. For the most part the meats all had the same flavor of sweet sauce, but was perfect for what we wanted. Great and quick service.

Mini Meat Jun plate

I ordered one mini meat jun plate, it was mostly egg and a small piece of meat. Wasted plate more like egg jun rather than meat jun. you can see in the picture how small the meat is lol

I enjoyed dining in for lunch while I contemplated my options. They've expanded their indoor space…read moresince the last time I was there. Now they have a small stage and occasional live music. I ordered food for 15 people and Tony helped me figure out the best options and pricing. They had it all ready and packaged well for us to pick it up and transport home. It was a hit with our family. Surprisingly the chicken was our favorite of all 3 meats we tried. Pulled pork, beef and chicken. Mahalo Taste of Aloha.

Brah I really wanted to like this place, stg cuz…read more Seen people hype up da grinds here and so was excited to try em out and support local business. We made one large order, too Got mochiko chicken, a shoyu chicken/kalua pig combo, an order of shrimp lumpia (2 pieces come w that), 1 lb of lomi lomi, a mini meat jun, and a chicken katsu And i apologize for the pictures of plates already eaten thru halfway hahaha but yeah.. everything was just mid tbh Who knows, maybe it was just an off day. Maybe it was bc we ordered early around 3pm for a 515pm pick up Idk cuz Prob out of everything, the shrimp lumpia was the best? It was more like a shrimp eggroll tho (see pic) and $8 kinda steep for 2 pieces that size The meat jun def didn't remind me of auntie's from the islands The mochiko chicken lacked both the texture and the taste I was craving The lomi lomi salmon shoulda been called lomi lomi tomato and onions The shoyu chicken was dry The Kalua pig.. I legit had better from the food truck that used to be on red square at UW back in the day The portions were also disappointing. In particular the chicken katsu, we legit thought they accidentally gave us a mini portion Idk. Again maybe it was an off day but for a place that has such high ratings, it was lowkey just disappointing that $110 resulted in all that

My wife and I have had this place bookmarked for a while, and we finally made the trek out to try it out. We ordered: The pork belly sisig Kalua pork The highlight was the kalua pork. I'm still vividly thinking about it while I write this review. The pork just melts in your mouth and has such a fantastic flavor to it. The salad was refreshing and acidic, which was delightful, and the mac was really good too. The pork belly sisig was also really solid, though I have to say that the kalua pork stole the show. The nice fatty pieces of pork belly mixed with the rice were sweet and delicious, and I also thoroughly enjoyed this dish. As earlier mentioned, the dishes are a bit pricey, but they gave a lot of food (we both had to take our meals to go at the end - a rarity for me!) +1 to the server who gave our dog some treats along the way! I'm happy to say that we'll be back, especially to check out their happy hour.

Everything was delicious and satisfying! I also had the non-alcoholic Ube Horchata, which was very refreshing. There was seating upstairs, downstairs, and outside--we enjoyed the sunlight upstairs. Service was great and attentive, even though it was self-service. They had a break between lunch and dinner, but graciously allowed us to dine during the break since we arrived close to their 2 PM lunch closing time. Parking was easy, with available spots on the street or in the nearby neighborhood.
