Hartz Chicken, located at 1215 Pinemont Dr, brings back so many memories for me. I used to own a business nearby, and even though we rarely took lunch breaks, we would take 15 minutes to rush over to this location and enjoy their two-piece special. Hartz has always been a great spot for classic, no-frills comfort food. I would often choose the two-piece special, which features crispy, well-seasoned chicken that is consistently delicious. Surprisingly, I would opt for two wings, despite this being the only chicken place where I would pick wings over dark meat. For some unique reason, their wings were always large and incredibly moist. Paired with a side of coleslaw, it's the perfect balance of flavors. Of course, I always add pleeeeeenty of hot sauce--the spice elevates the meal to another level. (If you haven't had their hot sauce, you are certainly missing out!) If you're in the mood for comfort food that truly satisfies, Hartz Chicken is always a solid choice! read more

EIGHT FREAKIN' BUCKS! Come in, pay up, get a plate, fill up, pour yourself a drink, and then chow down. Once you're done? Go back to the cashier, ask for a new plate, and repeat the process. Fresh chicken, strips, wings. They also have fish (or at least I think they were fish). Downside? They don't label anything (hence I wasn't sure if I actually saw fish or not). But everything else is pretty much self explanatory since they are fried chicken after all. Another downside? No fries. Like, really? Fried chicken but no fries? That just ain'r right!! Very good chicken. It rivals Popeyes. The tenders are better than Popeyes and in my opinion are better than Cane's. They are large very tender and crispy. I also like the cream gravy that comes with them. Love the yeast rolls and mashed potatoes and gravy. too. This is the best Harts buffet I've ever been to. It all had to do with the caring and polite employees who work there. The stewed Okra and tomatoes/onions were excellent. The Cabbage was well flavored with pork and so were the green beans. The rolls were perfect, not too much yeast like some Harts. I love fried liver and it was great! The employees were so nice and immediately added more Fried fish, chicken fingers and fresh hot chicken for us. The freshly made Broccoli rice casserole came out and was great. The peach cobbler came out freshly made and it had the perfect amount of sugar and cinnamon. You can tell that they really care about the quality of their food here! I will be back soon! All the reviews are correct, both good and bad. The chicken is crispy, sometimes piping hot, mostly in need of seasoned salt. Most of all, the chicken is affordable and cooked for you. I love fried chicken but hate frying chicken. The oil, the heat, the burns, and the smell that can last for days all pushes me to pay someone to do it for me...at about $1 a piece. Yes, you want a two piece it's $1.99. So for that price I'll take it home, add my own salt, open a fresh can of soda, and wish I went ahead and ordered a yeast roll. Which by the way taste like bread. Nothing has ever been disgusting. (I've been 4 times, and have gotten party orders before With no complaints )The employees have always acted nicer than I would act if I had to cook fried chicken all day. Today they were especially nice, (maybe because they get a day off tomorrow). Either way I appreciated they're helpfulness today. I don't want to repeat the bad so I'll only mention my biggest complaint and what makes them loose a star (probably two stars). Inside needs a makeover. Probably not going to happen with the current trajectory of the location, so I would highly recommend they hire someone (or pay someone more)that will go around frequently to clean the place. No one wants to eat in a place that looks and feels dirty. No one. It doesn't matter if your paying Hartz prices, KFC, or CFA. The dining area should be clean. The place is not always busy so two staff should constantly rotate checking the tables, hot plate area, floors, and trash and tidy up. Bottom line: If you have a love hate relationship with fried chicken, you're hungry and don't have $8 for yummy but salty CFA, and scared to go to other nearby Hartz locations then go through the drive through or order for pick-up. The worst reviews were obviously from people who entered with their eyes closed. Note, with restaurants it's never nicer on the inside. So take a chance and judge a book by the cover. Been coming here at this location in northwest Houston for many years and they still argue and fight when asked for fresh desert, peach putting and bread pudding and the cobbler never fresh looks like it has been sitting for days. Make no sense, when a valuable customer ask for fresh desert. Makes me wonder if the chicken is even fresh. The restaurant employees are good until you ask for food, then horns come out. 290/Hollister. They have this buffet/ in room dining operations down great. They basically have servers working the floor. If you order the buffet, the server has to get your food. Just tell them what you want and they fill you up. Drinks are self served. If you want more, just tell the server and they will get it for you. And when you leave...they spring into action with the spray bottles, cleaning the table and chairs. read more

Great find in Independence Heights! Awesome baked chicken for those on low carb keto diets!! Ducked into this place for lunch today, and it was really clean! In addition to the normal fried chicken, mashed potatoes and other goodies, the lunch buffet inside had baked chicken, cabbage, green beans and an awesome "creole" chicken dish with tomatoes, peppers, celery and no sugar!
