I really had a bad experience. The person that was serving the orders had a really bad attitude. To get a three piece chicken with fries it took the lady almost 25 minutes to give it to me. Even though the chicken and fries were ready to serve. By the time she gave the order, she just throw the bag(order) to me. Management needs to trained better their employees. Pollo Campero - My receipt - Fast Food Near Me - Houston, Texas

The plantains are worth the price of admission. Empanadas were pretty good too! Tasty!

Chicken breading flavor tasted completely unbalanced. There's one, overpowering, unpleasant ingredient that ruins the entire thing. (Pepper maybe?) Additionally, they gave me hardly any sauce. Unless specifically asked for light sauce, who in the world only wants sauce in the center of their sandwich (not even close to a full spread across to the edges) and spread so thin it's pretty much dried from the heat. It's pathetic. Their food is not cheaply priced. If corporate has instructed them to skimp on sauce that's unwise for business growth. If the employee was just feeling lazy, cmon dude people are working there butts off to earn money, they chose to spend it at the company that pays your bills, and you can really kill the freakin vibe when you suck at your job. you matter. Your job is important. Act like it. So irritated and will not be giving this place a second chance. Mac n cheese was mid but acceptable read more

Husband and I needed a late dinner and were too tired to dine in. Pollo fit the bill: was open late, no long wait, good comfort food and friendly service! We each got a two piece fried chicken combo with Cole slaw and beans as sides. The chicken had great flavor, was fully cooked and moist inside, and the sides were equally tasty. Coleslaw is very creamy, as advertised. The only item that I wasn't fond of was the roll...rather chewy. The service was very friendly and the window guy was totally up-beat for the end of the evening. Much to our delight, we got home and discovered a little "lagniappe" as he gave us an extra piece of chicken each for no charge! For what it is...fast food...it has been consistent the few times we have stopped with positive service and good quality food. And, there are some healthier choices to opt for besides the " fried" chicken option, as well! I give it my fast-food, high-five rating! read more

Well done! We ordered Pollo Campero for delivery for a special event at Harmony Stained Glass. The food was delivered on time, it was all very tasty, the chicken nuggets were real chicken breast meat, not chopped and formed like some places. Our guests all gave rave reviews. read more

Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience. Our grilled chicken tasted burnt and was dry on the inside. The chicken was really bad. Perhaps we got a bad or old batch, but it was definitely a disappointment. We also ordered a 12 piece and we're shortly an entire piece of chicken. The sides were not all that great either. Not a fan. read more

Add more flavor to the chicken and is not that no good Waiters were nice needs more bathroom is bad the toilet is leaking

I don't know if it's the childhood memories or what but I love this place. The chicken does taste good in my opinion. Only problem I have with them is the inconsistency, one day it'll be good then the next it'll be dry and gross. Their drinks selection is good, I had their mango/peach juice and it was great, not too sweet not too bland. They have great coleslaw and the rice tasted good, but was basically burnt. The roll is just a regular roll so nothing fancy there. The fries and yuca sticks were great. I would def return, maybe not cause it's THAT good but because it brings me back to my childhood. read more

So this place is ok, the food looks better than it taste. We ordered the 3-4 fried chicken Family meal with mashed potatoes and fries. Also ordered some camperitos they are boneless wings and came with a side of your choice we got the corn salad and they come with a sauce buffalo or some others like honey mustard. So the chicken is good has great crust but the flavor is a little different, and the fries are great. The rest was so different tasting, the original recipe is in Guatemala and this is just the generic version of it. The buffalo sauce had way to much vinegar flavor to it. The mashed potatoes were bland, chunky and tasteless no bueno. The corn salad was gross but my husband and son liked it. It had like pumpkin seeds , tomatillo , cheese and roasted corn. Sounds good but it wasn't. It's a new location so it's pretty and in a nice area. The service was awful , everyone ignored us, people didn't know what they were doing. I guess it was training day or something. This was my experience not great. But hopefully yours is better. read more

Have you ever been eating and realized that what you were putting in your mouth was clearly going into the wrong hole? That was my thought on every single bite of chicken I had from this place. I had the pleasure of going to one of their pop up catered locations that pop up around the city during lunch. The options where very pricey but it was convenient for me so I gave it a try. I passed on the baked or rotisserie style chicken as it looked very dry. The fried was my choice with a side of beans. Those 2 stars up there are for the beans that where simply delicious. I ate those first. But even those great beans can't save you from what qualifies as a multi-purpose enter and exit hole substance. Which means this product was not made to enter the body where a tongue is present. I really think its meant to pass as a delicious looking enema. At the point of eating I hated myself. I hated my tongue and then questioned my education for making a logical decision to continue to consume what was clearly not made for human tongues. Unfortunately at this point.. I only feel sorry for the other end of me upon exit. Cleanse and prosper! read more

I don't know if it was because of a disappointing dinner at the place across the street but my family and I had to get a taste as we walked by this interesting establishment. Halfway full, hubby and I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken with sweet plantains and yucca fries. My kids had the cinnamon sticks. We enjoyed every bite of the tasty super crispy chicken and both sides. Very eager to come back and try their grilled chicken and empanadas.... And more fried chicken. Don't forget to check in for a free Latin drink. Mix the mango and guava together! read more

In short, I don't like over simplistic versions of taste bud friendly food. A taco should not be reinvented. Refining it should not take away the essence of what it is. Yet, this is the way of the ultra-culinary nature of today's chef. And I'm not knocking what others like, but I'm a "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" type of guy (see what I did there?). I like thing as close to original as Godly possible. This place took the "O" out of the taco. The pickled red onions are every freakin' where and they are horrible! I thought I'd try some on my tacos and it ruined my entire week! The empenadas are $2 and they are small! I'll give them another try, of course. This time I'm goin' in for the chicken. read more

We ordered the 4 piece, rice, beans, yuca and plantains as well as the 9 piece boneless chicken wings (basically were chicken nuggets) with french fries as the side. They seem unable to make any food on time, and their grilled chicken is the only thing worth getting.... Which they're always out of. The employees are not trained in customer service or trained to work their own computers or website. Ordered online and arrived in the designated parking for curbside pick-up, called the number posted and they didn't know anything about my order. Went inside and was ignored for 45 minutes before the manager gave me a receipt and told me there was nothing that he could do. Not once did he apologize and offer to hurry and fix the order even though there was plenty of food sitting under a lamp behind the counter, the restaurant was completely empty and I had already paid. I am still currently waiting on my refund and it's been days. I will never return here. read more

After paying for the order at the window, I was asked to drive around, park in front, and the rider would be delivered to my car. After 10 minutes of wait I walked inside and was told they missed the order and was not ready. They apologized and told me they'll have my order ready soon. There was no manager during that period and the staff seemed to be missing direction. My order was ready after 20 minutes or so, in addition to the 10 waiting parked. of wait inside the restaurant. This is the second Pollo campero I visit and unfortunately my experience was not compared to the Bellaire location, in terms of service. The food was fine, the 30 minutes wait for service should not. read more

Went to the drive thru. I ordered the Empanada Trio and a diet pepsi. Got to the window and the counter person says here is your dr. pepper. I told her I wanted a diet pepsi and we argued back and forth because she did not know what a diet pepsi was until someone from behind had to explain it to her. I was told to goto the front to wait for my food. I waited 15 minutes and walked inside to see what was taking so long. The person at the counter turned around put the empanadas into a box with my side and gave it to me. No apology whatsoever. I just turned around and walked out. Will never go to this place again. read more

Omg, Pollo Campero, how I do love thee, lol. I must admit that I am totally addicted to the Peruvian grilled chicken - it is always super tender and so full of flavor; I love that citrusy note that you get when you bite into it. The empanadas are delicious, flaky and just the right size if you just want a snack. My fave sides are the plantains which are always tender, sweet and on point; yucca fries which are nice and crispy out the outside and perfectly tender on the inside; the Chilean Tomato & Cucumber salad which is so refreshing and has a nice tang. A must have drink is the Agua de Jamaica or Hibiscus Tea which is super refreshing and sweetened just perfectly. The service here is always quick and the staff is friendly; plus drive-thru can move rather swiftly as well. read more

This is recent discovery for me. I got hungry at Bedrock Comics, and just popped across the street. GET THE TACO TRIO. Yum-Me. The Latin flavors are Peruvian and Argentinian ... I little different from my Tex-Mex accustomed palate --- so delish! This costs a bit more than I really want to pay for 3 tacos ... BUT these taste really great, so I will certainly be coming back, esp. with side-dishes like quinoa and plantain. There's a lot of variety; I can't wait to try more. There's a lot of parking, but it can be a little difficult to maneuver with a large truck. There is also a drive-through for those on the go. read more

Good food but the rudest manager ever, within 200 mile radius . Today on October 8th 2019 after 12pm I went through the drive through and while trying to place my order I felt as if I was put on a 30 seconds timer to order three meals . The manager was in a hurry , somewhere ‍ Once I reached the drive-thru window I handed over $100 bill , the manager opened the window and returned to me $70 and kept $30 to charge for my order . But the $100 bill was not broken down at the register , the manager left the register site, so that was questionable and I must inform the corporate office for Pollo Campero . As for my three meal order the manager showed all three orders in one bag . Before grabbing my order from the manager I asked that he packs three meals separately, he did so then when he returned my orders to me he rudely said " NEXT TIME MAKE SURE YOU TELL ME TO PACK YOUR ORDER SEPARATELY " Seriously , is that how you talk to a customer who is buying from you! And isn't it OBVIOUS if three meals are ordered that they should be packed separately without the customers request at all Good food but shitty service ! read more

Stopped in a whim the other day to try something new. Grilled chicken sandwich was very tasty. I liked that it was a fast food type place that wasn't your typical chain restaurant. I didn't have any of the issues other people had. Service was friendly, fairly fast and the food was good. Loved the grilled chicken taste. Was it the best I ever had? No. But I think it's worth a spot in your lunchtime rotation. read more

When I lived in California, there was this place called Pollo Loco that was always pretty good...not great, but pretty good and very fresh-tasting, so at first sight...i thought they'd finally made their way to Houston. YES, I know they're already here, but this review is not for them! haha Needless to say, we just had to try this place a couple months ago and we've certainly been back more than a few times to say that it's definitely a great place to go eat if you kind of want mexican food but with a kind of south american twist to it. I usually go with the chicken plate and sides so I couldn't tell you about the rest of the menu, but from what I've tasted the couple times I've been, they definitely have something here. Yeah, you will hear or read some reviews from hispanic people saying that they didn't like it, but that's mainly because this place falls along the path of a fusion-type restaurant. Do you want something a little different but don't really want to pay too much for it, this place is for you! Let me know what you think....oh, FYI=the guayaba juice is amazing!! read more

I went to get a quick early dinner before going to a concert and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered 2 piece chicken which came with a side and tortillas, and I also ordered an additional one fried chicken thigh just to taste it. The fried chicken was alright, but the peruvian grilled chicken was seasoned quite well. The plantains were so delicious! The chicken had different types of flavors and dishes so it makes me want to try everything! Before I left, I enjoyed it so much, I got an empanada to go. I thought it was cheesy and tasty, but a little oily. Anyhow, I'll definitely visit again! read more

Drove-through today. We were originally in line for El Rey. The line was really long, as most are during the citywide shelter-in-place order. We saw there was no line at all at Pollo Campero, so we pulled out of line and went next door for empanadas and chicken. The person taking our order was rude and impatient. It was taking a moment to get a credit card to pay, and he wouldn't stop repeating the charge for the food, getting louder each time, even though I'm sure he could see we were getting the card. It took less than 30 seconds, but he acted like it was taking forever. Very rude, very impatient, exceptionally unacceptable. It was very difficult for me to contain myself. It's by far the worst drive-through behavior I've experienced in years. Part of the order included two 3-piece empanada meals. For my meal, all 3 were the same (chicken). That's what's described on the menu. For my wife, 2 were chicken, one was spicy pork. I have no idea why. She didn't order it that way. They didn't say anything. Who knows why. It's just bad service. I won't be coming back for a long time. I might not come back ever. The food was good overall, but no food is worth dealing with this amount of impudence. read more

Peruvian food is vastly becoming one of my favorite things. Pollo Campero is a fast food type of spot but I came out with having my expectations blasted away. For about $10 bucks, you can get 1/2 Peruvian chicken which is two pieces fried chicken and two pieces grilled chicken with Peruvian spices. That comes with your choice of tortillas or rolls plus two sides. I went with the fried plantains and yucca fries. And o yeah, comes with a drink and I went with mango juice. The fried chicken was great and much better than your local KFC. Having sides like fried plantains and yucca fries are not ones you have every day. And having mango and guava juice on the menu again, not your every day. Can't beat the bang for your buck for good food and an interesting menu. read more

Just isn't for my taste buds... I have been to a Pollo Campero in San Jose, Costa Rica and this one is far better and nicer. However, I must say, the flavor combinations of fast food, sweet, spicy and fresh just isn't working out for me. Pro's - it is fast, clean and I do like the variety of salsa. I would say if I did have the empanadas (bean and cheese) and yukon fries... yes, I would get that again. Plaintains were also good. Staff - friendly, but not as knowledgeable of the food because it is so new. They did point me in the direction of the empanadas (i do appreciate that) Con's: Fried Boneless Chicken - tastes like Chicken Tenders to me, not much more. Salsa - the salsa just didn't mesh too well with the menu. I wouldn't dip my yukon fries or chicken tenders in them... Chips- ehhhh they were stale Other sides - nothing I could really say i enjoyed Location - good location but let's be honest the food I like is fried and I didn't care for any of the entree's. Just walk down and/or across the street... there's plenty of other options that will satisfy you. At the end of the day, I threw a lot of my food away and I am not one to waste food. I got to a point where the food was too greasy and not enough substance. Try it for yourself, I may give it another chance eventually. read more

Love this place. I've been here twice and the food has always been good and the service is incredibly friendly. This last time, I got the Peruvian grilled chicken with sweet plantains and my friend got the Pollo tradicional with yuca fries. The chicken was really well cooked and the sides were delicious. The black beans and rice are very good as well: Not over cooked but the right amount of flavor and a few sprigs of cilantro for a fresh taste. As for the drinks, desserts and salsas: The horchata seems to be homemade (has a good amount of cinnamon for added flavor) and the guava drink is very good. Oh, and you must get a Famosa, a Guatemalan beer that they serve, to complete the experience. For grins we got dessert, not expecting much but Raul (the manager/owner?) recommended the caramel flan. It is AMAZING. I am not a flan fan but it was pretty darn delicious. They have quite a few different salsas and they all look and taste fresh too. All in all, great food and a much nicer than average fast food experience. read more

I got 2 empanadas and one taco. I got the Peruvian chicken taco which I thought was overworked. It was greasy but I did like the pickled red onions. The empanadas were greasy and not great. I got the pork empanada and a spicy chicken. The spicy chicken was definitely more tolerable than the pork. I also got french fries that were pretty cold and gross. Overall not great just a lot of grease I didn't finish any of it. Probably won't be back unfortunately. I wanted this place to be a fresh take on Latin cuisine but ended up just being a lot of grease. read more
