Unless specifically asked for light sauce, who in the world only wants sauce in the center of their sandwich (not even close to a full spread across to the edges) and spread so thin it's pretty much dried from the heat. Husband and I needed a late dinner and were too tired to dine in. Pollo fit the bill: was open late, no long wait, good comfort food and friendly service! We each got a two piece fried chicken combo with Cole slaw and beans as sides. The chicken had great flavor, was fully cooked and moist inside, and the sides were equally tasty. Coleslaw is very creamy, as advertised. The only item that I wasn't fond of was the roll...rather chewy. The service was very friendly and the window guy was totally up-beat for the end of the evening. Much to our delight, we got home and discovered a little "lagniappe" as he gave us an extra piece of chicken each for no charge! I don't know if it's the childhood memories or what but I love this place. The chicken does taste good in my opinion. Only problem I have with them is the inconsistency, one day it'll be good then the next it'll be dry and gross. Their drinks selection is good, I had their mango/peach juice and it was great, not too sweet not too bland. They have great coleslaw and the rice tasted good, but was basically burnt. The roll is just a regular roll so nothing fancy there. The fries and yuca sticks were great. So this place is ok, the food looks better than it taste. We ordered the 3-4 fried chicken Family meal with mashed potatoes and fries. Also ordered some camperitos they are boneless wings and came with a side of your choice we got the corn salad and they come with a sauce buffalo or some others like honey mustard. So the chicken is good has great crust but the flavor is a little different, and the fries are great. The rest was so different tasting, the original recipe is in Guatemala and this is just the generic version of it. The buffalo sauce had way to much vinegar flavor to it. The mashed potatoes were bland, chunky and tasteless no bueno. The corn salad was gross but my husband and son liked it. It had like pumpkin seeds , tomatillo , cheese and roasted corn. Sounds good but it wasn't. It's a new location so it's pretty and in a nice area. The service was awful , everyone ignored us, people didn't know what they were doing. Have you ever been eating and realized that what you were putting in your mouth was clearly going into the wrong hole? That was my thought on every single bite of chicken I had from this place. I had the pleasure of going to one of their pop up catered locations that pop up around the city during lunch. The options where very pricey but it was convenient for me so I gave it a try. I passed on the baked or rotisserie style chicken as it looked very dry. The fried was my choice with a side of beans. Those 2 stars up there are for the beans that where simply delicious. I ate those first. But even those great beans can't save you from what qualifies as a multi-purpose enter and exit hole substance. Which means this product was not made to enter the body where a tongue is present. I really think its meant to pass as a delicious looking enema. At the point of eating I hated myself. I hated my tongue and then questioned my education for making a logical decision to continue to consume what was clearly not made for human tongues. Unfortunately at this point.. The employees are not trained in customer service or trained to work their own computers or website. Ordered online and arrived in the designated parking for curbside pick-up, called the number posted and they didn't know anything about my order. Went inside and was ignored for 45 minutes before the manager gave me a receipt and told me there was nothing that he could do. Not once did he apologize and offer to hurry and fix the order even though there was plenty of food sitting under a lamp behind the counter, the restaurant was completely empty and I had already paid. I must admit that I am totally addicted to the Peruvian grilled chicken - it is always super tender and so full of flavor; I love that citrusy note that you get when you bite into it. The empanadas are delicious, flaky and just the right size if you just want a snack. My fave sides are the plantains which are always tender, sweet and on point; yucca fries which are nice and crispy out the outside and perfectly tender on the inside; the Chilean Tomato & Cucumber salad which is so refreshing and has a nice tang. A must have drink is the Agua de Jamaica or Hibiscus Tea which is super refreshing and sweetened just perfectly. Today on October 8th 2019 after 12pm I went through the drive through and while trying to place my order I felt as if I was put on a 30 seconds timer to order three meals . The manager was in a hurry , somewhere ‍ Once I reached the drive-thru window I handed over $100 bill , the manager opened the window and returned to me $70 and kept $30 to charge for my order . But the $100 bill was not broken down at the register , the manager left the register site, so that was questionable and I must inform the corporate office for Pollo Campero . As for my three meal order the manager showed all three orders in one bag . Before grabbing my order from the manager I asked that he packs three meals separately, he did so then when he returned my orders to me he rudely said " NEXT TIME MAKE SURE YOU TELL ME TO PACK YOUR ORDER SEPARATELY " Seriously , is that how you talk to a customer who is buying from you! Stopped in a whim the other day to try something new. Grilled chicken sandwich was very tasty. I liked that it was a fast food type place that wasn't your typical chain restaurant. This is recent discovery for me. I got hungry at Bedrock Comics, and just popped across the street. GET THE TACO TRIO. Yum-Me. The Latin flavors are Peruvian and Argentinian ... I little different from my Tex-Mex accustomed palate --- so delish! This costs a bit more than I really want to pay for 3 tacos ... BUT these taste really great, so I will certainly be coming back, esp. with side-dishes like quinoa and plantain. There's a lot of variety; I can't wait to try more. Drove-through today. We were originally in line for El Rey. The line was really long, as most are during the citywide shelter-in-place order. We saw there was no line at all at Pollo Campero, so we pulled out of line and went next door for empanadas and chicken. The person taking our order was rude and impatient. It was taking a moment to get a credit card to pay, and he wouldn't stop repeating the charge for the food, getting louder each time, even though I'm sure he could see we were getting the card. It took less than 30 seconds, but he acted like it was taking forever. Very rude, very impatient, exceptionally unacceptable. It was very difficult for me to contain myself. It's by far the worst drive-through behavior I've experienced in years. Part of the order included two 3-piece empanada meals. For my meal, all 3 were the same (chicken). That's what's described on the menu. For my wife, 2 were chicken, one was spicy pork. I have no idea why. She didn't order it that way. They didn't say anything. Who knows why. It's just bad service. Peruvian food is vastly becoming one of my favorite things. Pollo Campero is a fast food type of spot but I came out with having my expectations blasted away. For about $10 bucks, you can get 1/2 Peruvian chicken which is two pieces fried chicken and two pieces grilled chicken with Peruvian spices. That comes with your choice of tortillas or rolls plus two sides. I went with the fried plantains and yucca fries. And o yeah, comes with a drink and I went with mango juice. The fried chicken was great and much better than your local KFC. Having sides like fried plantains and yucca fries are not ones you have every day. And having mango and guava juice on the menu again, not your every day. Can't beat the bang for your buck for good food and an interesting menu. read more

Just isn't for my taste buds... I have been to a Pollo Campero in San Jose, Costa Rica and this one is far better and nicer. However, I must say, the flavor combinations of fast food, sweet, spicy and fresh just isn't working out for me. Pro's - it is fast, clean and I do like the variety of salsa. I would say if I did have the empanadas (bean and cheese) and yukon fries... yes, I would get that again. Plaintains were also good. Staff - friendly, but not as knowledgeable of the food because it is so new. They did point me in the direction of the empanadas (i do appreciate that) Con's: Fried Boneless Chicken - tastes like Chicken Tenders to me, not much more. Salsa - the salsa just didn't mesh too well with the menu. I wouldn't dip my yukon fries or chicken tenders in them... Chips- ehhhh they were stale Other sides - nothing I could really say i enjoyed Location - good location but let's be honest the food I like is fried and I didn't care for any of the entree's. Just walk down and/or across the street... there's plenty of other options that will satisfy you. At the end of the day, I threw a lot of my food away and I am not one to waste food. Love this place. I've been here twice and the food has always been good and the service is incredibly friendly. This last time, I got the Peruvian grilled chicken with sweet plantains and my friend got the Pollo tradicional with yuca fries. The chicken was really well cooked and the sides were delicious. The black beans and rice are very good as well: Not over cooked but the right amount of flavor and a few sprigs of cilantro for a fresh taste. As for the drinks, desserts and salsas: The horchata seems to be homemade (has a good amount of cinnamon for added flavor) and the guava drink is very good. Oh, and you must get a Famosa, a Guatemalan beer that they serve, to complete the experience. For grins we got dessert, not expecting much but Raul (the manager/owner?) recommended the caramel flan. It is AMAZING. I am not a flan fan but it was pretty darn delicious. They have quite a few different salsas and they all look and taste fresh too. Overall not great just a lot of grease I didn't finish any of it. Probably won't be back unfortunately. Secondly i see a salad on the menu and you only offer 2 salad dressings. To my readers you guessed it 1 is RANCH; the other is a White Balsamic . So I have came to this location twice. Both times the food was consistent. This last time, I got the 2 piece (grilled) chicken with campero beans and a fountain drink. I have tried the yuca fries and yes they're tasty and filling. The cashier, Miguel, was kind and pleasant while taking my order. The food was brought out like in 2 minutes? The grilled chicken was piping hot! The campero beans were luke warm but had good flavor. After the lime chicken cooled down, it tastes the same as I remembered it, moist, succulent and cooked to perfection. Great seasoning, not overbearing or salty. They had to have brine the chicken overnight to make it that moist? The place was a little bit empty on a Saturday afternoon, another table and me there. The tables were clean. Miguel went around spraying down tables when there were no customers. He was always folding, wiping or doing something to stay busy.
