The food was excellent and people were kind and friendly. It was chilly, but the food remained hot and fresh!

Half Choriperro and half Tasty Arepa

Tasty Arepa was pretty good! It was easy to call in the order and swing by to pick up. The food took a little longer than the initial estimate, but overall a great experience. For food, we ordered a few Tequenos, Tasty Arepa, and Choriperro. The Tequenos were really good and much bigger than I'm used to. Both of the sauces that came with it were great too. The Tasty Arepa was pretty good--the actual Arepa had good flavor, but I wasn't a huge fan of the fillings. It probably would have been better if the fillings were mixed together, instead of separated. The Choriperro was good too, but I felt like there was just a little too much going on with all the different sauces. Overall, a great meal and I would return, but would try a different Arepa.

Pretty tasty arepas and empanadas for a decent price! This is a food truck located right on Washington, in the parking lot near Heart! The bf decided to pick up some dinner for us one night and decided on an assortment of empanadas and 2 arepas! We got a cheese empanada, some potatoes and beef, and some potatoes and pulled pork. They were crispy, filled with lots of filling that was seasoned well, and fairly large! They come with 2 different sauces that add to the flavors! The two arepas we got were the Blondie (Catira) - shredded chicken with Gouda cheese! They came out hot, crispy exterior and delicious filling! I ate them cold when the bf brought them home and they were still good - can't wait to try them again fresh! He loves this place and we got a good amount of food for the price!

I was shocked that they had this on seamless! A friend that recommended this place was well praised! The Tasty Arepa was hands down one of the tastiest thing I've had in a long time. Sweet, savory, a little kicker, bit of crunch all in one bite! Even the Chori Burger was bombs! (Yes, I still use the word "BOMBS") 80's kid. What can I say? I would surely come back to try other things on the menu!

Delish! Have you tried really good Arepas? Well, these are better! Wish they were open late- they close early on the weekends.

Very friendly people taking care of your order. I got a "Columbian perro" which is a hot dog with fresh cheese, pineapple and raspberry purée, mayo, mustard, cream, chips and a quail egg. Compared to the ones I've had at other places I felt like this hotdog was missing something that I can't quite figure out. It was good still but for $6.50 a pop I think it's a bit much for a hot dog...

The customer service was awesome! The worker helped us with the menu and was super nice! Definitely authentic food but make sure you order earlier in the day, I felt like my food was a tad bit stale! This is the cutest on the run snack and the sauces were great!

Your average looking food truck but it's promising when you drive by

So, my awesome wife sees this food truck almost every time we drive down Washington. She is wanting to try it as she spent time in Columbia and that area and raves about the food. So we pull in around 7pm one night. It's in an odd place as I am thinking the parking attendant will be charging as there is a gate that has to open to get to the van. We tell him we're here for some food and he waves us in with a smile. We park and walk up, the people sitting at the tables are super nice and love our dog as she has never meet a stranger and demands to be pet by everyone. As I am engaging in small talk with everyone my awesome wife orders. I hear a familiar sigh from behind me and turn around, she asks if have any cash. I hand her my wallet and she pulls out another $20. Odd, I am thinking as I wonder if she ordered everything on the menu. We site down and talk with everyone, my awesome wife speaking Spanish and me the goofy non speaking Spanish guy smiling and noticing they are talking about something that costs a lot and making funny faces. The young lady in the food truck window calls out my awesome wife's name and I go get the order, 4 items. I am thinking WTF. I take it to the table, a cheese arepa, chocolo (spelling is off I am sure) and some corn thing with cheese and some other thing. And drinks of course, non alcoholic. I take a bite, not knowing what this is or what to expect. What I get is dry. I mean Sahara Desert dry. I am thinking this is what it is supposed to be like and decline any more but wonder why others eat this cardboard when just down the street awaits food heaven or a shake and burger from a certain drive through in the area. Come to find out, others were talking about the price as well, at $6.50 an item it was to high priced in my opinion, especially for what you got. So, in short, nice people but just not worth the stop. Maybe a bad night and something was off in the truck but yikes, was this stuff dry and over priced.

Delicious arepas, but it can take a bit to get your order. Also the address on here is wrong. The truck is on white oak.

Best arepas in Houston. The tequeños are unbelievable and sauce is amazing. Favorites are the Boluda and shredded beef with plantain arepas.

Their unique position as one of the only Venezuelan spots in the loop becomes even more niche when one realizes that part of the menu is also Mediterranean / Middle Eastern (#1). If that's not Houston in a nutshell, I don't know what is. The place sports a casual vibe with a clean and bright interior. It's been practically empty with every visit, but I suspect the takeout game is strong here. There is limited parking in the back of the restaurant and the narrow alleyway entrance is somewhat easy to miss. Food wise, I am not disappointed. Their cheese cachapa is the stuff of dreams and includes a number of stuffings from ham to shredded chicken / beef. My vote is for their pabellón, which is a nice combination of shredded beef, black beans, and sweet plantains. For cheese lovers, the double cheese is perfectly indulgent with the sweetness of the cornmeal. The main draw for me was the arepas, which is something I missed having had so much of it back in NYC. La Pelua (shredded beef, mixed shredded cheese) is one of my go-tos, but my all-time favorite is the reina pepiada, a shredded chicken mixed with avocado topped with sprinkled salty white cheese. It's a staple in the Venezuelan arepa game and while their version is very solid, I'm just extremely thankful that it's available. Their breakfast platters are a big draw, which mainly consist of scrambled egg combos paired with arepas and various proteins. I think their yuca buñelos, tequeños, patacones, and especially their mandocas are incredibly underrated. The latter is practically dessert since it's mashed plantains with the cachapa stuffed with sugar and cheese. While they're not known for their empanadas, I do think their cazon (#2) is unique and their potato and cheese is always hearty. The shredded beef is a nice alternative to their arepas or arepitas (side) and make for an excellent snack on the go. Fans of Venezuelan cuisine who find themselves in the inner loop owe them a visit and I highly recommend calling ahead of time to ensure they have items available and to get a jump on the wait time for takeout. They are a slept on gem in the neighborhood and one that I hope sticks around for a very long time. _____________ (#1) The owners are Venezuelan and Syrian. The sweetest couple. (#2) Dogfish? They even have a gluten free fryer separate from a regular fryer, which is great! The restaurant itself is very casual, few tables and friendly staff at the counter for helping decide. I tried the caxapa with cheese, 3 empanadas with various fillings, and the plain mini areas. All the items were good especially the caxapa and the empandas, though I think the combination of items I picked was definitely fryer-heavy. The sauces they were served with with are also a nice accompaniment. We got to go and excited to try out more of their menu!

In the…read morelast couple of years since moving from NYI, I haven't found many legit Venezuelan options until recently here at Sabor Venezolano. I'm pleased to report that the food lives up to the name and most everything was quite sabroso and very Venezuelan. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside, but seating is really limited to solo diners and small groups. There are counter seats toward the back and small cafe tables in the front. There are some refrigerated items for grab and go while ordering is done at the counter. I'd recommend calling ahead of time for faster pickup. If you're able to order in Spanish, do it. The food gets a thumbs up. Much of the menu is Venezuelan specific which includes cachapas, arepas, tumbarachos, patacondes, and tequeños. While they have a "menú Mexicano" that features quesadillas, tacos, burritos, and tortas, I'd avoid it if at all possible. The arepas might appear to be smaller, but they're packed. I personally loved their jamón y queso guayanés, in which the latter is a thick slab of gooey cheese. A similar arepa is their mechada y queso guayanés, which is equally tasty and I appreciate that they have cazón (#1) as an option. The pelua (beef + cheese) and reina (shredded chicken with avocado) will be my perpetual favorites and the cachapas with tequeños are also particularly hearty. The food is a bit pricier than most Venezuelan fare I've had previously, foodflation never surprises me anymore. Given how often I'm in the neighborhood, I already know that I'll be here more often than not. __________ (#1) Nothing like a little shark to get your day started.

The server was very friendly and explained the menu to us. I love the fact that there is a QR code at the table that pulls up a menu with all the photos. It's great for someone who doesn't know what the items look like. You can also pay by scanning the QR code. The downside is that they charge you extra hidden costs like tap water and a whole lot of many other things. I would have bright my own purified bottled water from Costco that cost a a fraction of what they charged. The prices didn't not align with what was reflected on the menu from scanning the QR code and they were not upfront about it until we got the bill. The menu states that one of the orders came with brown rice so that's what we ordered, but they tagged in extra $2.50 for that on our tab. With the patacon, there was lack of transparency that you would be charged extra for each additional ingredients which was not started on the menu and they don't tell you until the very end when it shows up on the bill. Price and transparency 1/5. Pan De Jamon was Sweet and savory with reasons, ham, olives. They're homemade and fresh. 5/5 Patacon - you can add a variety of means but they charge you extra for each one. The plantain part was good, but I felt mixed about it because certain ingredients were hot, lukewarm and some cold. Lack of consistency. 3/5 We also ordered the pabellon plate, It came with plantains (the best part about it), black beans, brown rice according to the menu through the QR code. The meat was tender but not much flavor. 3/5 Love trying out local hole in the walls and finding hidden gems, but this one didn't meet expectations.
