There's nothing better than Harris Teeter Expresslane! Order online; they'll bring it out and load your trunk curbside. Perfect!!
Rebecca M.

Four stars for convenience, quality, selection, and value! As a newly-minted wife and step-mother of 2 beautiful, rambunctious and always hungry children, I have a revised outlook on my weekly grocery shopping. In the past, I wanted small quantities of certain, specific, brand-constant items and cost/ calories weren't really an issue. I looked for what was fresh, exotic, and what was in the Cooking Light magazine that I wanted to try. Now that's changed for me. In addition to the obligatory bi-monthly Costco run, I now plan dinner meals, packed lunches, and breakfast/snacks on the run with an eye to budget and kid-friendliness and a deep respect for a well-laid out, time-saving grocery shopping experience. Enter Harris Teeter. I listed my top three likes below: First perk: Convenience. Hooray for the drive-through shopping experience. You can order online and pick it up out front of the store. You can still save with your VIC card and don't have to undertake the odyssey of navigating the aisles to pick up your weekly needs. Screaming kids? No problem. You don't have to drag them through the store, as the HT staff will come to your car and load your groceries. It's $5.00 per order or you can buy by the month or year unlimited. Second perk: VALUE. HT carries quality brands and even their store brand is quite decent on most things I've tried. If you have a bit of flexibility with your meal planning, the weekly ads have so many B1G1F and discounted items, you can save considerably. \Items on sale aren't the "expires tomorrow", "couldn't sell it", unusual variety, rather they are items you use and need every day. The first time a manager had to use their key in the register because we had saved over $100 with the VIC card, we were a little taken aback. Now it's almost a source of pride. Third Perk: Layout and organization. The store is actually laid out in an intelligible, easy-to navigate floor plan. You can register for an account and do your grocery list online, even if you shop in the store. The list is emailed to you (or you can print it) and aggregated by section-- so you can see where you have to go to get whatever item is on your list. Sensible, convenient, navigable... it's like they've given this some thought and planned your experience so that you can spend the least amount of time looking for the things you need.

I appreciated the fact that the infant medicine is both in the medicine aisle and baby aisle. Little conveniences like that make my day!

Happened 2 weeks ago. Wrote email to customercare@totalwine.com that is explaining the matter but…read moredid not get response back in 2 weeks, so i am writing here now. We experienced older lady was so rude. ID CHECK acceptable 24 hour ban- I DID NOT understand So, my boyfriend and I were at the Fairfax Total Wine location, trying to buy a bottle of wine. He was the one paying, and he showed his ID. The cashier asked mine, but mine was in the car. The cashier said they need to check everyone's ID. We completely understood. When a group of people purchase, they have to present their ID. It is the store policy that applies to all states. Truly UNDERSTANDABLE. We said we'll go grab my ID from the car, and we'll be back in 2 minutes." The store was not even busy at the time; there were only two of us, and maybe there were two more people, including her. But then the lady at the counter said something that totally threw me off - she goes, "No, NOW I CAN'T SELL IT to you for 24 HOURS." She explained it was some POLICY that if anyone doesn't have their ID, EVEN IF WE GO AND GET IT, they won't sell us alcohol for a whole day. I said okay, I'll wait outside so he can get in and collect them again." But she refused to sell it to my partner and we felt like we'd been blacklisted from the store for the entire day. We asked to see the policy but no response. WHY make us wait 24 hours for something that could've been fixed in five minutes? The entire thing felt completely unnecessary. I was just standing there, totally shocked. I've never heard of any rule like that in any store! It's not like we were trying to SNEAK AROUND WITHOUT SHOWING ID. I know there are laws around alcohol sales, and stores have to be strict, but is this 24-hour thing really a Total Wine policy? Or was she just making it up because she didn't want to deal with us? I've never run into something like this before. PS: We did not argue with the group ID check policy, but 24 hour store ban.

I went here to get some Rosé wine for our beach trip; a case to be exact and FYI you get 10% off if you purchase a case! I knew exactly what I wanted but immediately after I entered he store, I was greeted by a lovely gentleman with a delightful British accent. He was so charming, pleasant, and attentive. He found my wine right away, got my case for me and we had a fabulous discussion about Rosé. It doesn't get any better than that! Merci beaucoup!

Old Town Fairfax

Introduction to Friday, October 28, 2022:…read more Continuing my runner-up of original out of town picks for 2022, O is for Ornery Beer Company Public House. Like Saturday, November 12, 2022 review of Jirani Coffee House I just wrote (2 weeks later), Friday, October 28, 2022 was one of those weird days where I traveled far from my home. There was a US Navy band concert at Hylton Center on the westside of Manassas (60 miles from home!), which I wanted to go to, and I'm an AMC A-Lister, so I combined with an Indian movie that was oddly enough only playing at AMC Herndon. On the way back from west of Manassas, I met up with 2 friends at a Fairfax music festival. Experience here: After the festival, my 2 friends & I walked to Ornery. They got food, and I just got a beer as I had already eaten dinner. My beer was solid, and the server was nice. Overall, this was a good place with a large variety of beer and seemed like some good food options as well.

Predominantly a good experience, marred by spotty service. We were a party of six, on a rainy…read moreWednesday night. We were seated right away by the host, and our waitstaff took our order quickly (as we'd requested.) The food was delivered quickly and was really good: five of us had a burger with varied toppings; one had a chicken sandwich. Everything was cooked properly to order, the burgers and chicken sandwich were very juicy, and the fries crispy. Unfortunately, the waiter failed to say they were out of slicing tomatos for the burgers (a standard complement). When asked, the manager came over to explain. Later, when the waiter brought the bill, it was $75 higher than expected, because our bill was combined with another table's bill. This was eventually corrected, we paid and departed. While the manager explained that the waiter was new, when addressing the lack of tomato slices, they didn't return to explain the error on the bill. While this is not an expensive place, we ordinarily receive at least an apology when this occurs. Some places go further, offering a free dessert, coupon for a future visit, or other complement to the meal. Not in this case, hence the lower rating. There is plenty of seating, an accessible entry, two unisex bathrooms, and plenty of TVs spread around if you're there to catch a game. No street parking, but the City of Fairfax has a structured garage on the same block, accessed from both University Drive and Chain Bridge Road. Parking in the garage is free for the first two hours.
