I haven't been to this location for for months. As soon as I entered the store, I heard this very pleasant voice of an employee. Throughout my time there, I could hear her greeting customers; asking customers if they found everything they were looking for, wished them a great day. I also heard other customers telling her how wonderful she was. One of the best cashier I've encountered! I had asked her for her name, and asked if she was the manager. She was not! Her name is Jen, and they are lucky to have her. She made other customers smile, because she was so cheerful and extremely pleasant. read more

Checkout people are incredibly rude every time I'm there. They rush you, get mad at you if you don't understand how they run things in their checkout lines and basically act like they hate you. My advice for these prices go to Trader Joe's at least they're kind read more

I was first introduced to ALDI in the midwest. Loved the concept of passing along savings to the customer with no grocery bags, limited hours, and only stocking the essentials. The location here in Fairfax though could use some work, especially when there is a Lidl just down the street. I think the staff could do a better job keeping the aisles clean and organized (see pics). Wish they had some basic items butter lettuce and common brand name ice cream. If you are new to ALDI, do note that you need a quarter to unlock the shopping carts (you get it back when you return the cart). They don't have any grocery bags in store so bring your own. They offer the fundamentals so don't expect to find exotic or specialty items here. This where you come to get cheap groceries. They share a parking lot with a few other stores (CVS, Planet Fitness) so it can get tricky sometimes. I normally wouldn't be so picky on ALDI but with Lidl just around the corner, this ALDI just pales in comparison. The Lidl on Lee Highway offers more selection, more organized, and they have a membership/app to get you more discounts. read more

I like Aldi, but you have to be reasonable. Right now our gas prices and inflation are vicious. Hence going to Aldi will save you money, and a considerable amount over traditional grocery stores. They don't have any amenities, in fact they are "no frills." Part of me likes this, and also they treat their employees quite well, which is an added bonus. Any of their folks can make a decision, which is empowering and smart business. I like Aldi for household items, lunch meats, and yogurts especially. They have quite a few name brands, but their stuff is pretty decent. Their imitations of big companies is quite well done, and hard to taste a difference. You'll save 30 to 50% over another competitor. A lot of our families aren't doing well, due to the economy being problematic. It's smart to go here, to put a cut on high prices, and to be frugal with your expenses. More for your savings account is fiscally responsible. This location is clean, and while there might be some long lines at checkout, its worth it. read more

Slightly different layout than some of the other stores I've been too, but this location carries the same great items! I'm a big fan of the wine, cheese, and German chocolates! Aldi is the sister store to Trader Joes, same company so you can expect good quality, without commercial frills. First and foremost, the prices at Aldi are awesome. Hello low prices! That's why people shop here. Its not sleek and fancy. Its basic and to the point. I come here for the basics in between my major grocery shopping. Like bagels, eggs, lunch meat, kale, pita chips and hummus, a few produce items and other random items. Sort of like when you're out of milk and need to run to the store and pick something up. Like a few things at a time. They sell precisely what people tend to buy and nothing extra. Customer service is limited, but polite. They're all extremely busy either working the cash register, unloading massive containers, stocking and tidying up. What you see is what you get. Its not like you can get lost since its self explanatory and not overwhelming. Food is fresh, good quality, good lettuce, greens, kale, greek yogurt, nice selection of hummus and cheese. If you're a snack person, they have tons of snacks. Chocolates, crackers, chips, granola bars, cookies. Sorta overboard in my opinion, but I guess that's what a lot of people eat a lot of. I purchased a container of tomatoes once, they were semi-spoiled, I took them back without a receipt and it was an easy return process. No headache. Bring your own bags otherwise there is a fee for bags - similar to the stores in DC. They only accept cash or debit, not credit cards or checks. Oh, and they sell wine, perhaps beer, I can't recall. Im glad you have sanitizing wipes for the cart at the entrance. however when you switch my car for another car at the register and don't have sanitizing wipes, that defeat the purpose. Email sent to customer service July 2018: I've grown accustomed to not getting good customer service while in ALDI, after all, I shop there for the low prices only. I even wrote a Yelp review a few months ago saying great things about the prices and not understanding why people complained when they understood the ALDI philosophy. However, yesterday takes the cake. I came directly after work. There's usually workers in the aisles with tons of boxes restocking, which I dont mind but yesterday one worker hit me with a box. I was grabbing peppers, and he was stacking peppers where I was grabbing them, although he saw I was still there making a choice his body language let me know he was in a rush, and thus rushing me. He stacked a box on top of where I was and the box fell and hit me in the stomach. Just prior to this I told him, he could finish before I grabbed peppers since he appeared to be rushed. Later I get to the check out line and the cashier pushes my cart far out of the way after throwing my things in the basket and rolls an empty cart to the register, while sitting. She was rushing and moving so fast she rolled over my foot. I understand being efficient, but I can't tolerate being sloppy and rushed when I'm a paying customer. I may go to ALDi for the low prices, but I actually enjoy grocery shopping so I want it to a pleasant experience. This isn't as good as the Aldi down the road off Gallows Road. Their selection seems more random (a whole bunch of random yogurts with flavors like Oreo). People love Aldi for offering German products but I haven't seen them often at this location. At the one down the street, I was able to score items like spaetzle and cabbage& apples. Produce is okay, but sometimes they are out of things. They have super cheap off-brand alcohol but it isn't very good. They seem to have adjusted to the times well and it remains fairly uncrowned during off-peak times. read more

I've recently started grocery shopping more so that I can cook at home (versus eating at a restaurant). This has always been a challenge for me since I love eating out at places, but since I've discovered Aldi I think I'm gonna like cooking more. The prices are really reasonable and the stuff actually tastes great. I've only been to Aldi twice in the 9 months that I've lived in Fairfax. The first time I really wasn't impressed. I thought the produce section was small and messy and it kind of felt like I was shopping at The Dollar Tree, only not just a dollar. Also, it was a pain fishing for a quarter to rent a grocery cart. Oh yeah, and since it was our first time there, I was put off that we had to buy our own bags. My quick judgment of Aldi was too hasty. I found out that everything I bought was really good. Only recently, I cooked a can of Aldi corned beef. To be honest, I was scared to try it, but it was so yummy! It was then that I decided to give Aldi another visit. Today was our most recent visit and this time I remembered to bring a paper bag with me. I picked up a chocolate bar, a bunch fruits and vegetables, hand soap, and a bottle of apple juice. I was prepared to spend about $30, but when all was said and done my bill was only $15!! I am happy! Plus, the produce section was clean and the chocolate was super delicious! I have been to this Aldi quite a few times before especially when we lived a lot closer.They always have a good selection of fruits and vegetables which I always check out because they tend to be in season and are always at a fair market price. This time they had some really good looking kiwis and they are priced at $2.99 per package - with six kiwis per package,it comes out to fifty cents a piece! What a steal and I can't wait to try them. However, I really come here for the staples - milk, bread, and bagels. They have the best bread and bagel in town for such an affordable price. We don't go anywhere else to get them. They also have some occasional beer and table wine featured and we try them every once and a while but my go to is their Hard Apple Cider. They so much tastier and cheaper than Hard Mike's! The cashiers here are also very considerate. If you have a box, they try to put everything neatly back in the box so you can easily grab your items on your way out. ***Update - the kiwis are delicious and are very firm. I wish I could give them zero stars. About a week and a half ago I went in and I'm never visiting this location again!! Worst customer service!!! There's only one woman on the register and she's completely rude when she sees the line getting longer as she yells loudly and rudely at me and the other people behind me to move to check out at line 1. It was too bad that no one was servicing that aisle. I was frustrated because I couldn't see anyone else who could come help. Then an angry other employee hurriedly goes to an employee room, but not before saying she would help us. Clearly she was in a pissed off mood because she had to help us. I was annoyed with this because this was her job and what she was paid to do. She took out her anger on us as she threw my items I bought into the cart and didn't even say hello or say anything to me. They say in life you get what you pay for. At Aldi, you get definitely more than what you pay for. I love their Belmont brand ice cream, it's only $2 for a pint. They have a good selection of chocolate too, I'm a huge fan of their dark chocolate bars. Their winking owls are priced under $3 (two buck chuck-esque), they are perfect for hosting fake wine lovers! I also have yet to find a place that sells GTs kombucha cheaper than Aldi on a regular basis. I can go on and on but they have solid organic options throughout the store as well. I usually like to come by about an hour before closing, I do risk missing out on some sold out items at the produce section but it's much quicker and there is no line at the register. Lastly, they take Apple Pay. As an Apple fanboy I love that I can be cool and use my Apple Watch at the check out oh bring a quarter for shopping cart and your own bags! read more

I've always been curious about Aldi. When I saw that the Office Depot in this spot closed and then Aldi moved in, I figured that we should stop in and see what this chain is like. Before going, I knew it was one of those bare bones markets. If you want a shopping bag, it will cost you. Plus you bag your own groceries. We browsed here on a Saturday afternoon and it was doing a decent but not brisk business. The decor is rather blah---concrete floors, simple wire shelving but that's to be expected at markets that offer up items dirt cheap (well...in comparison to other supermarkets). Upon entering, we came across some holiday candy---much of it was German (no surprise as Aldi is a German company). What struck us as unusual---most of the products for sale were brands that were not recognizable. These were brands that I've never seen or heard of before. Interspersed among them were a few of the well-known brands. Seeing this, I knew that I would be reluctant to do regular shopping here. Sure, I'll buy some generic brands when shopping but when you're dealing with a wide-range of unknown brands, it has me wondering, what if I don't like any of them? What if they are not good, even gross? Despite groceries being cheap, it would be a big waste of money if you didn't like what you bought---especially if you bought a lot of it. My husband was looking at the coffee they had and none of those brands were recognizable. As we continued on, a woman who told us that it was her second time shopping here asked us if we ever tried some of weird brands. We told her that this was our first trip here. Then we mentioned the coffee---and she warned us away from it saying that she had tried it and it was terrible. The produce section is very limited and some of it didn't look too great. For example, the eggplants looked like someone had beaten them up. Some of the meat and fish looked decent but much of it was in large packages meant to feed large families. Yet, we were surprised to see scallops and lobster tails in the frozen seafood section! We ended up making a small purchase. I saw that they had some Hershey-ets and got excited LOL as I like them better than M&Ms plus they're hard to find. Then my husband saw some Wrigley's doublemint gum and got some. We spent a grand total of $3! There were only 2 check out lanes open. Of course most people were buying mass quantities of food. Still, I have to say that the cashier who rang up our purchase was very nice---friendly with a good sense of humor. Normally, when they ring up your purchase, they put your groceries right back into your cart so that you can take them over to the self-bagging area. I imagine that Aldi works out just fine for many people who don't mind the limited selection and the weird brands. However, we weren't that impressed and I just can't see myself ever becoming a regular customer. read more

This was my first time ever shopping at an Aldi store. My perception of the store and the brand was different based on the location of the Aldi stores in Philly. If you're and used to shopping at stores like Wegmans, Whole Foods, Giant, Safeway or Shoppers this is going to be a different experience for you. Think Trader Joes (which has family ties to the Aldi brand) size with a bit of a Costco warehouse feel. The place is sterile but in a good way. I don't see this place getting super busy but there was a decent amount of traffic for the woman who was on the register and breakdown boxes and stocking the shelves.... She was busy and didn't miss a beat. Since there was only one pic, I've added a few more so that people who are curious can see that it's worth a visit.... You may be surprised like I was. I love this location of Aldi. The Aldi staff is so wonderful and helpful, I only wish it was closer to where I live. The Chantilly location, unfortunately is closer to me, but the staff there are not very helpful or very competent. If they run into a problem while ringing up your order or they have a problem with a gift card you are using, they tell its your fault. I've never terribly been happy with their attitudes in Chantilly. However, this location is wonderful. I told the cashier today the exact amount on the gift card and she had no problem scanning it and having the amount decreased from my total bill. Everyone at this location has always been wonderful, produce fresh and the shelves well stocked. The parking lot design isn't ideal, but that's not the fault of the store. Its been that way for years and well before Aldi opened up in this location. I highly recommend visiting the Fairfax Aldi location. You'll be very happy with the amount of money saved compared to most other supermarkets in the area. read more

We are Aldi people. Love Aldi. We get an entire week's worth of groceries here for less than $50. Their x brand products and imported specialties are delicious. The produce can be hit or miss but they source wisely and their seasonal specials are easy to follow. The best part? Aldi likes to stock shelves and turn them over hyper fast. Because of this it makes it very easy to follow the sales and clearance cycle. For example, when Aldi stocked up on hams and turkeys around Christmas time we knew that anything leftover would be marked down so they could quickly re-stock for the next item. By mid-January they we ended up walking out with a 16-pound ham for $2. We don't deal with the carts. We love bringing our canvas totes and filling them as we shop. Plus, we won't have to deal with zillions of those plastic grocery bags around the house every time we run to the store. The workers here are down to earth. We always wear our jackets inside the store because it's warehouse-cold inside. It's pretty much how they roll. read more

My Wife and I shop here a lot. Aldi grocery stores have originated from Germany, they have great low prices because of the non-know names that make most of the same products as the ones we know of. Like for example: coca-cola, they have a different name for the coke like CoolCola. Or stuff like that. Same products but different names. Anyways Aldi is where we shop now for all or most of our grocerys. They help us save money. Customer services is good, store is clean and always stocked up, they definitely have hard working employees that work there. Aldi is Awesome!!! Very good and cheap. Cheaper than Walmart! This is my first time coming to this Aldi with my sister while grocery shopping and I am comparing it to "My" Aldi here in RVA. And sadly, my favorite is still the one in RVA. No comparison here. The setup was the same, but the aisles did seem tighter for two carts to go by. By the time that my sister and I were done with our grocery shopping, there was about 4+ people waiting in line and only one cashier. Then they finally opened up another cashier to help out the customers. When it was my sister's turn to be checked out, the cashier seem to have thrown the stuff into her cart. Which we had to ask if she didn't do that. I talk highly of this place to my sister and it this Aldi just isn't and wasn't the same as the service as the one in RVA. One of the best things about ALDI is that everything is organic and sold at a low price. The entire store is big. There are isles of processed foods, household needs, and meats/veggies. There is a large portion of healthy snacks, specifically everything labeled SimplyNature, which is there own brand of orgs if products. There is a decent sized produce section; however, some veggies may be missing here according to your grocery list like bell peppers or a single bag of spinach. The meats section also had a good amount of options for a good price. There are countless number of frozen items to choose from; whether it is dessert, fruit, pizza, breakfast food, etc. The only thing to keep in mind is that you will not find many named brand items here for snacks or other types of food. However, some of the snacks are still delicious like the off-brand trail mix. The store is clean and the staff are nice. I would recommend coming here if you want to buy reasonable priced organic food. read more

The first time I went into an Aldi store, I was kind of weirded out because I didn't recognize any of the brands. It seemed super sketchy so I left. Wow, how an opinion can change when you learn what is behind the store! I found that Aldi is owned by the same parent company as Trader Joes. For whatever reason, the fact that Trader Joes does not carry name brand items, never really bothered me. When I found they are the same company, I gave it another chance. For starters, most things are less expensive than chain grocery stores. Milk varies between 1.49 and 2.49 a gallon, produce is less, hamburger is 2.49 a pound every day, and the list goes on. One of the best deals is the spice and baking aisle. Their spices are around a dollar a bottle and are the exact same product that is sold at Trader Joes, which is also cheaper than chain stores. They have a full calorie counter line as well as a full gluten free line. Their coffee is amazing, just like the quality coffee at Trader Joes! The other thing that is cool about Aldi is that they have a "stuff" aisle where you can find different bargains every time you go. This week I saw an enameled cast iron pot for 20 bucks! I picked up a set of four stemless wine glasses for 3.50. My word to you is if you see something you like, buy it because it most likely won't be there next time you go! I go to Aldi once a week to get basics and the difference in cost is huge! read more

I really enjoy shopping at Aldi. My wife and I come here almost once a week. 6 months ago, we never shopped here before. Now we can't stop ourselves. One of the cool things about aldi is the shopping experience and how it all helps you save money. You won't see a lot of employees running around. You pay for any bags you want to use. Employees don't bag anything for you. Shopping carts require a quarter temporarily so that they ensure you bring the cart back and keep the parking lot clear. And the groceries are top notch while priced really well. If you didn't know, aldi is following the German grocery chain's cost saving practices that it uses in Europe. The selection of produce, gluten free products, and everything else is really good. We can do most of our shopping here. We still enjoy going to Costco for bulk items, super hmart for Asian items. One warning: they only take cash or debit. No credit cards. Not a bad thing since it's another way to save us money. read more

Instead of 6 peanut butter options, they'll have one. But that's okay, because it's good peanut butter! - Be ready to bag your own groceries at the end. Pros- - Great prices! They keep their costs low by charging for bags, making sure carts are returned, and for having you bag your own groceries. They pass the cost savings into the customer, which is very cool! - Lots of gluten free and organic options. - They have all of your basics and many specialty items available. Ex: I was able to get Spanish jamon (ham) just like I've eaten in Spain! - The store is clean and well stocked. Their staff is always friendly and quick! Cons- - I don't love their parking lot, especially since the gym next door is popular and overflows in front of Aldi. - I sometimes feel rushed. The cashiers are so quick and I get flustered trying to empty my full cart with as fast as they're ringing stuff up. - They don't have as much stock as a regular grocery store. Sometimes you have to stop by another store on your way home to fill in the gaps. I do most of my routine shopping elsewhere, but like to come to Aldi every few months for a large pantry stock up shop! Favorites include - baking supplies, oils (olive, coconut, canola, etc), flour/sugar, stevia packets, canned tomatoes, cartons of broth, salsa, pasta, pasta sauce, Parmesan cheese, and so much more! I got newspaper ads telling me about this place. I decided to check it out since some of the items seemed so cheap. This is not your normal grocery store. They don't have a big selection of items but a lot of pantry staples like sugar, flour, canned foods, spices, dairy products, Bread, and pastas. They have a good selection of snacks. But I wish they had more of a selection. Their produce section is very limited. They are cash only and you have to pay for bags so I suggest you bring your own bags. Also, if you want to use a shopping cart, make sure you have a quarter in hand. You will get it back once you return the cart. When they ring you up, they do it fast and they don't bag your food. You bag it Yourself. I just try to bag everything fast while they put it in the cart. There are areas in the store for you to step aside to bag your food. It's how they keep the lines moving fast. I went in to Aldi's today after seeing a post online somewhere. I had heard of Aldi's from coworkers who live in manassas and they say they do most of their grocery shopping there. So the layout makes it seem like a warehouse or the commissary on base. They don't have a lot of name brand items but they have a lot of great stuff. This is the place you want to go to for basic items and when you need to stock up your pantry. I got a 3 lb bag of sweet potatoes for 1.29! The cart situation is that you need to insert a quarter to get one but you get it back when you return it. Bring your own bags too as they do not provide paper or plastic. They have beyond great pricing. Their regular prices are the same as what other stores advertise in their circular. They have a decent selection of organic produce and the prices on their raw almonds and other nuts are quite a bit lower than I've seen anywhere else. You need to bring your own bags and a quarter to rent the shopping cart. Also, plan on browsing the aisles for a little bit. Their layout can take some getting used to. The only con's that I can't get everything I need here. I end up going to a competing grocery store for several items every week but the list of things I buy elsewhere has gone down a lot since it first opened. read more
