I expectantly had to purchase a vehicle and I was nervous. I am widowed and this was always my husband's area of expertise. I was very concerned about getting a lemon or taken advantage of, but I needed a reliable car. I received wonderful service at Harper Motors even though I was purchasing a used vehicle. The staff were patient, informative and I never felt pressured to close a quick deal. I was very happy with my selection of a 2022 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle had been in a minor accident and the Carfax was provided. After several months, the repair from the accident did not hold properly. I felt sick thinking I was stuck with a $2,000.00 fix (quoted by a local repair shop). I didn't know how Harper Motors would respond but I thought it was worth contacting them before getting the repair done. They were incredible. They set up the work with a repair shop they use and the issue was resolved free of charge for me. I am so impressed with their willingness to back their product. I only got one key with the car and was very concerned about losing it. I paid the $300.00 plus price and ordered a key/fob through Toyota. The day I had the car repaired, I also had an appointment to get my new key programmed. While at Toyota, they asked if I also wanted a complimentary inspection of the car. I agreed and they discovered that the high beam on the passenger side was not working. This is where the impact from the accident had been. I stopped by Harper Motors to see if they would deal with the light issue. Again, I was shocked. The manager was immediately involved and said that it was a serious safety issue for me. They talked to their service department and found that it wasn't a simple fix, such as a bulb replacement. The whole light fixture had to be replaced. I felt that sick feeling again that they might say it was on me to get it fixed. That was not the case. They ordered the light, had me schedule with their repair shop to get the light installed. The bumper that was just fixed from the Carfax accident had to be removed. They were not irritated at all. The car is in great condition and I am very thankful for the professionalism of the Harper Motors staff. We noticed while we were out that our axle cover had popped off and was hanging down. Not sure if this was a big issue or not, we swung into Harper Kia's service center to ask. This was around 4 pm on a Friday, no appointment, and yet they very kindly offered to put it up on the rack to look. Thankfully, they were able to pop it back into place. Did a quick check of the car and even did a quick clean (vacuum and windshield) for us. We offered to pay but they just asked us to come back some time for an oil change! I flew into Eureka to check out the car, when I arrived Roman the sales associate took me on a test drive. During our test drive Roman said he would compensate me for the price of my flight on the price of the car. He did not keep his word. Roman also stated there were 2 keys for the car. But they pulled a quick one on me. He switched the tag on a different key and handed me 1 correct key and 1 incorrect key for another vehicle. I spoke to Brad on New Years eve and made an appointment to see him on Friday after New Years day . When I looked the car I had wanted was gone and so I called. I ended up dealing with Kurt as Brad had to go out of town. Kurt took his time and even showed me a car that was not on the lot for sale yet. I was looking for a used car and he showed me everything in my price range. The car he brought out from back was the "one". Everyone I dealt with was very courteous and made the time there seem to go a little faster. I did not realize the time involvement since it had been a long time since I purchased a car. Kurt spent the entire time making me feel comfortable and even brought me a snack since I had been there thru lunch. The next day, due to circumstances, he brought the car I purchased to my home and spent close to an hour going over all the features with me. But having problems with my 2007 Ford escape hybrid for sometime. Have taken it to other mechanics and they couldn't figure out the problem. Watched all kinds of YouTube videos. Couldn't solve the problem myself so I brought it to Harper motors for diagnoses, $300+. They said the door switch needed maintenance and lube. So they did that (and optimized the tire pressure ) for $200 +. I am still getting the right rear door ajar, error message on my dash that I was getting before I ever brought it into the shop. Also still getting the tire sensor fault error message on the dash even though one of the tire sensors was replaced a couple of years ago by a different repair shop. Car was also having a "cold start problem "car would not stay on after sitting for one full day . Even though they kept the car for multiple days, they claim that this did not happen for them. The alarm goes off if you use the key fob and lock all the doors. So the only way I can avoid the alarm going off is to hand lock all the four door doors and leave the hatch unlocked. This is a huge security risk in my neighborhood. As a disabled senior on a limited fixed income, it is unconscionable that they would charge me $500 for nothing. None of the problems that I was complaining about were solved any way by bringing the car in, spending $500 and leaving it for the better part of a week in two or three visits. They do deserve one star - they were polite, they did call me, and they do have a shuttle. They can get me home and back to their facility. The shuttle doesn't run all the time so one of the employees actually had to take me home in their personal auto for one of the trips Will I ever come back for repair to this facility? Once again Harper motors is failing to do its job and proving how negligent/inexperienced the service center is . I dropped a company vehicle off to get a recall on the transmission i was told it would take a week which was rough but acceptable. After a week and no call i stopped by the dealer due to nobody answering the phone in the service department only to find out that after installing the parts the transmission had failed on the test drive yet i was not notified or called. i was told it would take another week so again thats a loss of revenue for the company but i tried to be understanding. After a week and a half i was not called or updated so again i tried calling and got no answer so i called the sales department and was put through to service finally and spoke to robert the service manager. i was informed the parts were being overnighted and the truck would be done the following monday which was completely unacceptable as we had already lost around 6000. Upon the following week coming i received no update and waited til thursday before calling only to find out the parts had more issues being ordered and the vehicle was still in pieces and that we would need to wait til the following week for it to be finished. i have had nothing but issues with harpers service department since 2016 and took this vehicle in to them against my better judgement only to find almost a decade later nothing has changed within the service department. Trevor harper is a horrible owner that has ruined his family name in this community. The loss of revenue alone could have bought a superior transmission from a more reputable company instead of dealing with the stock unit being updated by this shady and negligent dealer. I would never recommend anyone ever use harper service for any repairs unless you want to deal with lies and sub par work. i would like to note the sales team is awesome as is the parts department but the service department is hands down the worst i've ever seen and this is coming from someone who was a senior tech at a ford dealer for nearly 5 years. As of right now my company is without its most used vehicle resulting in a extreme loss of revenue to which we are not being compensated in any way. We had the misfortune of having our 2021 Kia Telluride suffer a catastrophic electrical failure near Eureka, CA during a vacation. Though our Kia was still under warranty, we had nearly non existent service from both Kia and Harper. We had our car towed on a Tuesday, but they told us they were unable to check it out until Thursday. We continued our trip in a rental car (at our expense) and never got a call from Harper. Finally, the next Thursday, after returning home to Boise, my husband, after leaving several messages, finally reached the service department who told us there was nothing wrong with our car. "You need your come get your car there's nothing wrong with it." When my husband reminded them we live in Boise, Idaho, she responded by saying "you don't need to get it today, I'm not a jerk." We attempted for a week to find a shipper for our vehicle, and finally gave up and drove the nearly 1600mile round trip with one of our other vehicles, since we didn't trust our relatively new Telluride. But not until after Harper charged us $311 for a "diagnostic test" that showed there was "nothing wrong." There is a known electrical relay problem on the Kia Telluride, but they were unwilling to check it out, and our fantastic Kia warranty didn't even cover the ridiculous farce of "diagnostic testing" to tell us our car was functioning perfectly. I sincerely hope no one else finds themselves stranded with this dealership as their only option. Perhaps it's considered acceptable in the middle of nowhere, but they lack service, empathy and competence for anyone from out of town and needing help. read more

We bought a lemon ford in hollister CA. We had 70 thousand miles on it when the car over heated and blew engine. After weeks of research we found the eco boost engines have a flaw and the coolant leaks into cylinders. We were lucky the car didn't catch on fire as some has. There are hundreds of class action law suits because of this issue. When we took the car to harper they denied any problems with the eco boost and I was concerned because they don't know the issues they wouldn't fix it. When I voiced my concerns to mechanic he was quite rude and told me I needed to stop doing research online that I knew nothing. Thanks to salesman standing there when he did that and apologized to me for his rudeness that was appreciated. We wanted to get rid of this horrible car and wanted to trade it. The sales people said they had nothing. We called a great car lot in Portland that was happy to work with us but when they ran our car Vin the 2018 ford we still owe money on is now valued at zero dollars. No one at harper told us replacing the engine would remove all value of our car. We were furious. When we started home the car still running medium hot. The next issue is we were told the car would be 10 grand plus labor to fix yet they charged gap only 6,000. The final blow was the state of the car absolute filthy. Scratches on glove compartment. Dead bees in car and dirt every where to hand a car back in this state is ridiculous with detailer on lot. They could have hosed it off. Done with ford's for life. read more

A year ago I made the mistake of continuing to trust Harper Ford with repairing my Ford vehicle. While they have always been more expensive for repairs than other local shops, I went back for years for check ups and maintenance due to how friendly they were. That promptly changed once they destroyed my vehicle and did everything they could to hide it, then deter blame. I was out of country and had my vehicle towed to their lot for repairs and maintenance, one of them being that I felt my back trunk had been damp for a few months and wanted to see if my seal needed to be redone.. I called to schedule it being towed in, followed up as it happened, then called again after to make sure everything was okay. They confirmed my car was there and fine and they would look at it once able. I followed up a week from then and they still hadn't gotten to my car. That's fine, I wasn't going to be back for a while longer, and they assured me it would be taken care of when I got back. Fun of flying into Arcata, the fog had canceled my flight in. So after a 16 hour flight back into the states, I had to rent a car and then drive 5 hours in. I get there later than I was originally suppose to pick up my car and it wasn't ready for me. I'm waiting jetlagged out, and finally they roll up. Car is wet inside, but I couldn't speak to a Manager as he had already gone home for the day. I was told I could follow up the next day. While I was annoyed, I wanted to hurry to bed and had assumed they were trust worthy. THIS WAS A MISTAKE. Next day in day light I can finally see the back of my car and it is SOAKED. A puddle had formed in the back area, seats in back soaked, and I opened my trunk to a practical marsh. I was horrified. Called Harper Ford and when I was finally able to get to a Manager was told how "That's odd, they would have brought it to my attention" and how '"Weird" it is that he wasn't told.' Those two words, odd and weird, I'd soon hear often. This began a cycle that went on for WEEKS where I was told he'd follow up and be sent on a loop of how it couldn't possibly have happened. I kept asking for the recording of the lot to see what exactly happened to my car, and they were always 'working on it.' They tried to blame the tow company that brought in my vehicle in saying that they must have left the windows down, but both my housemates who watched my car get picked up and the paperwork showed that my windows were up. I even called once my car got there and had it confirmed by the lot my car was good. Then I was told that because I brought my car in on a 'leak complaint for the trunk' that it was because of that. My trunk was slightly damp for months out in the rain, never any water inside. And now my entire car was a lake? No. I took my car to FOUR car shops and was told the same thing each time, that there wasn't any leak they could find that would let water in.. Especially not like that. Two shops even said my car looked like it was pulled out of a river as even under the hood it had water damage. I found out from one that my internal fans had been burned out in a way that made it look like they had been left on at max for hours (Possibly to dry my front seats enough to only be damp). The Manager at Ford always found excuses, delayed calling me back, and disrespected the day hours I requested call back in. I was working night shifts and told him the hours I'd be asleep, and it felt like he would go out of his way to only call in those hours. I got no sympathy, no help, not even an apology. I started this all assuming it was a simple mistake and was willing to forgive, all I asked for was an apology, but couldn't even get that. I had to pay for a rental due to the soaked condition of my vehicle, and had to pay over $2k for it to be fully stripped of fabric and reupholstered and cleaned. Haper Fords answer? Good news! They finally found a video recording showing how my front driver window was opened 'just a crack, only an inch' and that must have been how the rain got in. They were not able to get me a copy of the video, and they STILL didn't apologize. It was a statement, given as if that was the end of it and to 'bug off.' They tried to tell me how they left my car, window open, for weeks in the rain, and that was how my car got flooded. Okay, fine - But STILL no apology. And even then, this still didn't fully explain the condition of my car. After that - Nothing. I wasn't able to get any more call backs from the Manager, or help or answers in anyway. That was the only response I got. 'Good news, we left your window down. There is your answer.' I had purchased that car brand new off the lot and taken care of it for years, only to have it and myself disrespected and mistreated. I trusted Harper Ford for years, and in the end feel I was taken advantage of. Your lot couldn't even afford me an apology, let alone any type of humane customer service or a decent response time for an explanation. read more

I traded in my Prius for a used Ford F-350, about a year and a half ago. I love my truck. However, from a business standpoint, I found them to be predatory. They charged way too much for the truck, gave me a very low trade in value (then turned around and sold my Prius for what I paid for it!), and acted like they were doing me a favor. I needed a truck to pull my Airstream, so I was a bit under the gun to purchase a vehicle. In retrospect, I'd never go back to them. It was very clear to me, they were interested in my money, only. Not building a relationship. When the truck was delivered, it had not been detailed, someone in the shop stole the tow hitch (I got it back), and they were disinterested in helping me further. I had really high hopes traveling from Crescent city over To Eureka Harper for for service, The repair was a little bit more than I had expected but those types of things do happen so I agreeingly and happily paid the $4700 to have my 2006 F350 back on the road, since it had been previously dumping coolant all over the roads, it took about a week to get the repairs finished, then I got the call that it was already to go. I paid the $4,700 plus tax and drove down to pick it up. I was so excited to finally have my truck back, but then I came out the next morning and some more coolant spilling on my driveway, so then we have another 85 mile tow back to Eureka, where I am then told by Harper Ford that and oil cooler has gone out on my vehicle, which apparently they didn't notice when they already had it exposed and were testing the coolant system as well as the oil system, I am also then told that I am looking at about another $1500 repair for the oil cooler , although oil coolers only cost about $350 for a manufacture direct ford Moto craft part, so apparently now I'm supposed to pay another $1150 of labor. initially I wasn't extremely upset until I spoke with various diesel mechanics who told me that since everything was already ripped up to change my oil pump which they just replaced, it wouldn't of took Hardly any extra time to take care of the oil cooler, two of the mechanics went as far as to laugh at the fact that any shop would do such a thing to someone. so now here I am with my leaky truck because I couldn't afford the other $1500 however I could have afforded the $350 for the oil cooler, if somebody would've just been paying attention. What they supposedly re-clipped keeps falling out it's like they never did anything. There were some problems with a melted dash and nothing was done about it. It took forever to get the clips they "supposedly" ordered; never got a call, had to harass them like 3-4 times for them to actually get them. I only go there cuz it's the only ford in the area. Dave in the Part Department is a Superstar!!! I was driving North on the 101 and my 2014 Ford F150 just kept dying every 20 miles. It would restart and go another 20 miles, but this is no way to vacation with family. We called him on Saturday at around 4:00 p.m. to see if he had a throttle body in stock to fix the issue. He had one in stock and even though they close before I would arrive, he helped my buy it over the phone and gave it to the reception desk to pickup the next day.
