Hardee's Melbourne, FL 4 Stars I was chatting with one of my editors the other day and he made me go back and double-check my blog since The Big Boys return from the virus lock-down. Yep. I said it alright, I said I would do fast food reviews as a lot of the independent places, sadly, did not survive the said pandemic. I know a lot of Americans dine at these places daily so it was about time I bit the bullet and hit them up anyway. My first foray into the fast-food industry was to be Hardee's (or Carl's Jr. if you are west of the Mississippi) in Melbourne, FL. I have seen the commercials for their fresh homemade to order biscuits for breakfast and I have to admit I was intrigued to try these as they are the only fast food place to advertise as such. The thing that made this Hardee's so unique from the thousands around the country is that it has been in the same hands for over 30 years and the owners (a husband and wife team) are always found working themselves and have a reputation in the area for never scrimping on quality or customer service. I approached the counter and was greeted warmly by the wife of the team and asked if I was ready to place my order. I proceeded to ask for one Chicken biscuit breakfast sandwich, one Country-fried steak biscuit sandwich, a Frisco breakfast sandwich and a cinnamon roll. The glory, and I mean that of these breakfast namkeens are the made in-house biscuits and the recipe is spot on. These were so incredibly delicious I couldn't believe I was at a fast-food restaurant and not a place specializing in breakfasts. The chicken biscuit was filled with an entire breast of hand-dipped chicken and this had a great combo of flavors and just danced all over my taste buds. The country-fried steak biscuit was not as flavorful nor fun on the palate as the chicken was but still mobbed with loads of flavor. The Frisco Breakfast sandwich is the only non-biscuit one I ordered. However, I still found it to be a fun meal with tavern ham and eggs on Texas toast. It was your basic breakfast sandwich, but still a home run on flavor. This brings us to the last item to be tasted, tested and reviewed, the Cinnamon roll. According to the owner, the know-it-alls at corporate HQ thought it was a good idea to replace the cinnamon biscuit with your more traditional roll. This did not and does not sit well with this owner as she stated that the cinnamon biscuit was a huge seller. I don't think these are made in-house, but it was very good and sugary nonetheless. It sure is great finding owners that obviously care so much about the quality of food that comes out of their kitchen and pleasant customer service. The Big Boy says, "If you are in a pinch for a quick pie-hole stuffing before work or just in the mood for some authentic down-home style made in house biscuit sammiches, Hardee's/Carl's Jr. is for you."

In my opinion this is one of the best fast food restaurant out there if you are looking for a good burger. Lets us start with he sizes of the tomatoes slices they use. It's a good slice. You can see the tomatoes. Not paper thin. The bacon is a nice thickness too. Is not translucent like other fast food chains. The burgers meat is a good size too. The bread does not hide the meat lol. I had a bacon cheese burger. I was really pleased with it. I forgot the actual name of it. I think it was called Frisco I liked it. I specifically liked the bacon size. My burger was great. I do wish they flavored the meat. The bread was good and toasted. The cheese had good flavor. The size of the burger was perfect. I tried the French fries. They where exelent. Nice and crunchy with a really nice natural potatoes flavor to it. It did not taste frozen. The service was fast. The staff was cold but professional. The place looked clean.

Any day is a good day for Hardee's breakfast, but especially on Christmas Eve. Thanks Hardee's for always serving delicious food with a smile!

Over a month ago i.had a really bad meal. So I decided to try again. Just look at the pictures. It was to be fresh hot off the grill, the cashiers words not mine. Look at what I got. Disappointment doesn't even come close.

We don't have Hardee's locally however we see their commercials on tv. We found the location thru Yelp and visited last weekend. First ... this is fast food so rating has been adjusted based upon others like McDonalds and Burger King. The location is deep in a neighborhood off the Main Street. It shares location with a racing kart attraction and sits alone with nothing behind it. The menu had the typical burger offerings. The specials all had beer cheese added to burgers and fries as desired. This location also had fried chicken which looked crispy but also looked like it was sitting out to long under heat lamps. Burgers appear offered in several sizes from small parties to larger parties and doubles. I ordered the combo to taste the burger, and fries. Fries were quite boring and very standard with nothing worth mention. The burger was the small patty double which took on a Big Mac design. It had some grilled onions and thousand island sauce. Meat was plain and should have been seasoned while cooking. It was hot and appeared made to order. The cashier was pleasant and appeared to be helping drive thru clerk also. He was aware of order and time taken, and followed up. Store appeared clean.

The burger had great flavor and a bit of char, the way a good burger should. The hot dog was exactly what you'd expect, no complaints, and the Philly was honestly excellent! It was flavorful and wrapped up neatly. There's seating if you want to eat in, but the takeout boxes are basically plates, which is super convenient if you're eating on the go or back at work. Nice little detail that made a difference. One quirky touch I wasn't expecting was the fortune cookie that comes with the meal. Definitely unexpected for this type of food, but fun. I'd love to know the story behind that if there is one. The space itself is pretty cool. They've really committed to the hero theme with comic-style art and superhero details on the ceiling. It gives the place a unique vibe. Everyone was polite, though a bit more warmth or a quick hello when you walk in would make the experience feel more welcoming. No one was at the front when I arrived, so there was a bit of an awkward pause, but not a big deal. Overall, great food, creative space, and definitely worth a visit. I'll be back.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Out of all the restaurants still in business in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area of the Space Coast, the one that has truly lasted the test of time is The Burger Inn. Located on US-1, The Burger Inn is a testament to the city's history as the restaurant was first founded back in 1952. That was a time when Melbourne was the eastern point for cattle herding in Central Florida. US-1 was still a dirt road back then. As a matter of fact, The Burger Inn is one of the five-oldest restaurants still in business in Brevard County. By age, it is the second-youngest (Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, FL is younger while Ashley's, Lone Cabbage Fish Camp, and the Old Fish House Bar & Grille are older). The age The Burger Inn shows is more a testament to its delightfully tacky charm more so than be dated. In short, their age equates to experience and wisdom that still makes them a popular choice amongst restaurant-goers anywhere, both locals and tourists alike. The Burger Inn is located on the eastside of US-1, just a little ways north of the Eau Gallie Art District, but just a little ways south of the Big Orange roadside attraction. Take note that the entrance into The Burger Inn is a "right turn only," so patrons going south will need to turn in at the light before or after The Burger Inn and take the residential roads to it. The Burger Inn, as mentioned earlier, is delightfully tacky in its charm. It has the updated design of a 1960s drive-thru diner with its bright colors of the time. Think of a lot of red and yellow, neon lights, and black-and-white checker floors. If it further helps, think of movies like Grease. The majority of seating is outdoors with stone chairs and tables which were famously used in old-school garden parks of the 1970s with their tile mosaic designs. The seating is shaded and have roll-down canvas covers to block sunlight and wind just in case. The bar area is still intact with all the old-school cookery right in front of you. But take note people were "smaller" back then so if you are bigger or taller person, sitting at the bar will be uncomfortable. This is a burger dive bar so most of your food will be of that preference. But unlike other places, they still place precedence on their classic burgers, sides, and milkshakes. You can truly attest to the rest of their menu if their basics are delicious, and I will say their regular cheeseburger, fries, and shake are more than good, but have that satisfaction from eating a good ole' fast food meal back when such was done with actual care. That doesn't mean The Burger Inn has not kept with the times. They have updated their menu to include present day offerings such as chili-cheese fries, onion rings, mozerella cheese sticks, and much more. Finally on the food, they do have a challenge in which you eat a 10-patty cheeseburger, a large order of chili-cheese fries, and a 32 oz. shake in less than 30 minutes, you will get a free t-shirt and your meal is free. If you fail, you pay $40 for the attempt (which is not bad for a price if you think about it). Actually, everything on their menu is priced decently. A burger is about $5, which is fair given inflation, but worth it when you are eating a wholesome old-fashioned burger. Probably the only Issue worth addressing is the restroom. Remember how I said the bar seems to be made for people at a time when they were smaller. The same goes for the restroom. It is literally only a single unisex room that somehow is smaller than the space in a portable potty. The toilet literally runs under the sink. Talk about a tight squeeze. Despite that minute details, I have never been disappointed eating here at The Burger Inn. They've always been consistent with their food, especially during a time when specialty groups seem to naysay on what we can or cannot eat. Ergo, I am giving them five-out-of-five stars. Definitely give The Burger Inn a chance.

I've ordered a different burger each time and each one was a fulfilling, flavorful experience. I may NEVER get to taste any of their other menu items because the burgers are THAT GOOD. I love this place! Worth the 8-mile drive from Rockledge. Thank you, again.
